Remote configuration

I'd like to set up a wireless system for my residential tenants in another state. After I go on site and install the hardware, can I administer the AirPort Extreme Base Station over the internet from out of state?
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   clients will be Macs and PCs

Jose,
To answer your second question yes, you can configure WebLogic Workshop to
connect to an remote WebLogic Server instance. I have added some information
regarding this to this post. Regarding the first question, can I install
WebLogic Workshop without WebLogic Server, currently this cannot be done.
The installers are not designed to allow this.
Listed below is a solution (S-20563 ) I've created which is available on
AskBEA site
http://support.bea.com/application?namespace=askbea&origin=ask_bea.jsp&event=button.search_ask_bea&askbea_display=relevancy&askbea_max_number_returned=50&question=How+do+I+connect+to+a+remote+WebLogic+Server+from+Workshop&all_bea_products=all_bea_products&ES=ES
Hope this helps.

I would like to know if I can install WebLogic Workshop 8.1 withoutinstalling
WebLogic Server 8.1.
I mean, can I configure WebLogic Workshop to use an instance of WebLogicServer
that is running on a remote machine?
Thanks in advance.

  • Problem creating project from a remote configuration

    Hello,
i have developed a DC with a remote configuration. After having released my development activities adn transproted it into the test and consolidation systems, i would like to go on developing. If i start the NWDS again and log onto the DTR a message is displayed, that there is a new version of my DC and i should remove and remimport the DC.
After doing so, i get the new remote DC, but my project is gone. So i tried to create a new project of this DC. During the project creation process i see many errors in the task bar: "failed to resolve reference" and "could not load used dc". But i think more important i get a popup saying, that the file dcdef is readonly and mandatory changes can not be made.
Can anyone help me with this!

    Hi Pran, Ramakrishna
sorry for answering so late and thank you for your help. I did as you told me, but i can´t see anything wrong in the configuration nor can i get any further.
    Pran:
I have done the DTR action on .dcdef file as you told me. Afterwards i did not get any exception regarding a readonly reason, but i can not rebuild the newly created project because of missing DCs.
    "remove and import procedure"
After starting the developer studio and logging into the JDI there was a message, that there is a new configuration version active on the JDI and i should remove my local configuration and import the new remote configuration again. I think this is a normal procedure after having transported your DC.
For now i have stopped developing with the JDI. Maybe giving it a try sometime again. How is your experience with JDI?
Thank you for your help, again!

  • Airport extreme remote configuration

Can anybody help in enabling airport remote configuration?

    Yes, this is possible.
The setting on your Airport Extreme you want is called "Allow setup over WAN" (on the "BaseStation" tab). Check this box and click "Update". You may get a security warning when you try and save this setting - read it and then decide whether you're happy ignoring the warning.
Now, when you're outside the network, launch Airport Utility and choose File->"Configure Other...". Enter the external IP address of your Airport Extreme and the password... and you're in.

  • SQL server remote configuration

    Hi,
We are trying to install just the BIDS in a user machine to be able to develop reports remotely. I have a couple of questions.
    1. In my current scenario, SQL server 2008 R2 is already setup with the reporting services in say, Machine1. Can it be reconfigured so that
a user in Machine2, trying to develop a report, access report server DB in Machine1?
    2. Can this be done in such a way that, first we want to point BIDS to a sample database (like Adventureworks etc.) in Machine1, before trying
to develop reports with the actual database?
Could anyone help with the detailed steps involved.
I have done development of reports with an SQL server installation and configuration in the same machine sometime before, but not remote.
I looked for manuals, there is help available, but for this scenario, I want to confirm with the steps involved.Any input in this regard would be extremely helpful.
    Thanks,
    SK

    Hi valueinfo,
As per my understanding, you have a machine named machine1 with Reporting Services in SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. When the users create reports using BIDS,  you want to allow them to use the database installed on machine1 remotely. If that is the
case, we need to allow remote connections to this server, then add new login to the database. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
In SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the instance and open properties dialog box.
Click Connections, in Remote server connections section, check Allow remote connections to this server check box.
To configure database access, expand the Security folder, right-click Logins, and then click New Login.
In the Login – New dialog box, specify SQL Server Authentication mode.
Type a logon name and password, and then confirm the password.
In the left pane, click Database Access.
In the right pane, select the Permit check box for the databases you are granting access to, and then click OK.
If we want to use Windows Authentication, we need to be members of the local Administrators or users group.

If there is any misunderstanding , please feel free to let me know.

  • Remote configuration tool.

Dell has a downloadable tool called: DCCU Dell Client Configuration Utility. When you run this it lets you create an exe file that can be run on any Dell machine to make changes to the BIOS settings. I used it with a remotely deployed script to enable the Wake on Lan setting in the Bios. I was hoping IBM or Lenovo might have something similar. Some sort of remote management software for enabling Wake On Lan. I read a little about LCCM:  LanClient Control Manager but none of its links are active anymore. Any help or redirection would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    try this link:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70569
Download the file called scripts.zip using that you can configure the system.
Start the file called: "ListAll.vbs" => it will show you all the configuration, that is set; In the same time it will show you the name of the Wake on Lan script, that you can use to configure the systems.
Use the file called "SetConfig.vbs" in conjuction with the name and the configuration that you want to have on the machine.
    Example:
    SetConfig.vbs %nameOfTheProcess% Disabled
This configuraition is different by couple systems, so it would help, if you can tell me, what all systems will be changed using this configuraiton files?
NOTE: This files can not be distributed to end clients, as the missuse of them might root into unexpected behaviour.

  • Remotely configuring airport networks?

Has anyone successfully used the networkservice command thats part of the ARDAgent.app (same location as kickstart (/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/ kickstart)?
Trying to remotely admin a test PB G4 1.25GHz running OS X 10.4.11 gives me inconsistent answers (line breaks added for legibility):
    Loaner-2:~ tech$ sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Support/net worksetup -getairportpower
    AirPort Power: Off
    Loaner-2:~ tech$ sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Support/net worksetup -setairportpower on
You cannot set AirPort power because all AirPort network services are disabled.
    Loaner-2:~ tech$ sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Support/net worksetup -getnetworkserviceenabled AirPort
    Enabled
Loaner-2:~ tech$ sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Support/net worksetup -setnetworkserviceenabled AirPort on

You cannot set AirPort power because all AirPort network services are disabled.
    etc.
Has anyone successfully used this on Tiger machines or is it just broken?

The critical elements here are the single characters after the IP addresses in the tcpdump output.
    IP 192.168.1.125.53314 > 69.68.125.123.5009: S
This is your machine at 192.168.1.125 sending a SYN packet to 69.68.125.123 to initiate a connection.
    IP 69.68.125.123.5009 > 192.168.1.125.53314: R
This is the reply from the base station. The R indicates it is a Reset packet, meaning that the base station is rejecting your connection attempt.
IIRC the AirPort can only be configured from a machine on the same subnet as the base station itself - even if you enable management on the WAN port it still needs to be a machine in the WAN subnet, not some random machine on the internet.
Your best bet is likely to be a VPN or some kind of port forwarding setup to bounce your connection off a machine on the base station LAN.

  • Remote configuration question

Hello! I have several questions about configuration in my system that is shown on picture.
I need to have a possibility to program the second FPGA(Virtex-6) and its flash memory. I'm going to send mcs or bit file via ethernet to FPGA 1(Kintex-7) then programming in JTAG-mode FPGA 2 or its flash. First of all, i need to develop JTAG configuration logic at FPGA-1. Then, i have a questions:
    1) Is it possible to detect in the jtag chain a flash memory of the  FPGA 2 and programm it via FPGA-1? Or its only possible to programm it only using Impact and jtag-programmer?
    2) I would like to know if my jtag-configuration logic (at FPGA-1) will have mistakes, is it possible to damage fpga-2  by sending wrong sequences of bits during configuration it "on fly"?

XSVF is something like taking a straight-forward iMPACT programming process, and then recording the transitions of the JTAG signals.  Then what you do is to "play back" the recording to make the same thing happen within your target system.  Pretty much anything you do in iMPACT including indirect flash programming (SPI or BPI) can be converted into XSVF.
You could also roll your own JTAG conversion code, but I think that will take a lot more effort.  I would not be too worried about damaging the FPGA, however.  Typically errors in the configuration process are detected as CRC errors and prevent the part from running bad codes.

  • SCCP remote configuration changes:

Does anyone know of a way to remotely change the network settings on a 79xx phone? We would like to use a tool or script to make sure each phone is set for auto negotiation.

Unfortunately this feature is not available. If your IP Phone is running SCCP, then there is no way to be able to telnet to the IP Phones and change config.

  • Remote Configure

I have a 1231 high in a warehouse that needs converted to Autonomous mode.
Please tell me if this will work:
From the controller, revert the ap to a previous release not in LWAPP
Wait for AP to pull DHCP to GUI into, configure from there.
Is that the best way, short of getting a scissor lift to take it down to reconfigure it?

That would work well.  Otherwise you would need to get the AP into your hands to be able to convert it to IOS.

  • WDS Set up - Help Needed! Airport Extreme with one Relay and one remote

    Hi Guys,
I need a bit of help. I am feeling quite stupid and frustrated. I am having some difficulty with setting up a WDS network with:
Base station: Airport extreme (current version)
    Relay: Airport Express (current version)
    Remote: Airport Express (current version)
I start by cold resetting the three units. The Base station is connected via Ethernet. The setup I wish to get going is a simple base - relay - remote.
I go through the utility manager and set up the base station, first as "create a wireless network" enter the ISP details etc etc. Its green light. Everything is fine. Then manually configure the Base Station. Hold down option key hit Participate in a WDS. I then select main enter + and add the Mac Id's for the intended Relay unit and Remote Unit (12 character and numeric string). At this stage I am only adding the intended Relay unit and Remote units MAC number.
Question 1: Do I need to add the base unit's MAC number itself under: WDS Remotes? even I am setting it up as Main?
I am careful to note the security settings and the the Wireless Network name to match these in the relay and remote set up. Under the Wireless tab I leave the Radio Mode: as Automatic (802.11a/n - 802.11b/g/n). I make sure the base has "allow this network to be extended" ticked. Under Radio Channel selection I edit it to reference channel 1 for 2.4Ghz (5 Ghz leave as Auto). I am careful when setting up the Relay and remote to match the Radio Channel. (Although I tired many channels as I thought maybe interference was a factor and denying the fact its obviously my set up skills as a factor).
Question 2: Do you need to disable Guest networks? I would think it does not matter as I have tired turning it off and has not made any difference.
Under Access Control I leave as default, Not enabled.
Next I hit update and and error message comes up. WDS Error as it can not find other units. Ok fine as the relay and remote are not yet set up. So I ignore and can get to the stage where the base unit is working and green light with an internet connection.
I then proceed to set up the Relay unit. Doing the same steps as above with a couple of differences being I add the MAC numbers and select the WDS Mode (Relay for Relay and Remote for Remote. I add the Main base station (i.e Airpot Extreme MAC No.) when prompted and then + the Remotes MAC number. The same for the Remote except I only need to add the base station's main no.
Question 3. Do I need to add the Relay's own MAC number to its own setup? This seems doubtful as with the base station but tired with and without for good measure with no success.
The 2.4Ghz channels are all set to 1. Radio mode set to Auto. Although even when I try to manually set them to all identical it doesn't seem t help.
Then the problems begin. The base unit is Green and the Relay and Remote say they are not connected to the internet. I assume since I have not seen a WDS Error message then the units are set up correctly or as I ignored it on the base unit. But when click unignore the error seems to work itself out.
Question 4. I need help to understand why I have no internet. The remote / relay says something about no IP number and I don't really understand what I should do? Do I need to go back the Airport Utility Manager and start messing about with the TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT ? The base is set up PPPoE and the relay and remote are set to Bridge.
It is really puzzling me why the relay and remote flash amber with error messages related to the IP number? I have tried turning off the base station and router and then on again but no joy.
Can anyone please enlighten me or give me a few ideas? I am doing something very obviously stupid and I guess the fix is something simple that I have overlooked.
I did spend the time and go through the threads and search online, So I am not trying to waste anyone's time I referenced the two links to get a second opinion:

    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/settingup_an_airport_relay_with_airportexpress/
    Any help much appreciated!

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
My WDS experience is limited to "main" and "remote" configurations (no "relay"), so I'm not posting from direct experience, but below is what I think would work in your case.
I go through the utility manager and set up the base station, first as "create a wireless network" enter the ISP details etc etc. Its green light. Everything is fine. Then manually configure the Base Station. Hold down option key hit Participate in a WDS. I then select main enter + and add the Mac Id's for the intended Relay unit and Remote Unit
I don't think the "main" unit needs to be told about the "remote" unit, only about the "relay" unit.
Question 1: Do I need to add the base unit's MAC number itself under: WDS Remotes? even I am setting it up as Main?
You'd never enter the MAC address of a unit into its own configuration, if that's what you mean. I also don't think that you'd need to enter the MAC address of the main into the remote and conversely.
I am careful to note the security settings and the the Wireless Network name to match these in the relay and remote set up. Under the Wireless tab I leave the Radio Mode: as Automatic (802.11a/n - 802.11b/g/n).
Five things have to match in a WDS configuration: network name, encryption type, network password, band, and channel.
I make sure the base has "allow this network to be extended" ticked.
    I don't think that's important for a WDS configuration.
Question 2: Do you need to disable Guest networks?
    I wouldn't think that matters.
Under Access Control I leave as default, Not enabled.
    That's fine.
WDS Error as it can not find other units. Ok fine as the relay and remote are not yet set up.
    Right.
I then proceed to set up the Relay unit. Doing the same steps as above with a couple of differences being I add the MAC numbers and select the WDS Mode (Relay for Relay and Remote for Remote. I add the Main base station (i.e Airport Extreme MAC No.) when prompted and then + the Remotes MAC number. The same for the Remote except I only need to add the base station's main no.
I think this should be the MAC address of the relay station, not that of the main station.
Question 3. Do I need to add the Relay's own MAC number to its own setup?
    No.
