  • Can you control a MacBook Air with an iPad?

First off I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I teach in a small rural high school that has decided to implement 1-to-1 technology this school year.  All students will be issued an iPad (3rd Gen), and all teachers have been issued an iPad (3rd Gen) along with a MacBook Air (I'm assuming it is whatever generation is currently new).
So here is my conundrum.  Our school does not provide all teachers with a projector to use for presentations and such.  This means that I have to lug around my personal projector if I will need it in class that day.  What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to control my MacBook with my iPad, while the MacBook is connected to my projector?  Ultimately I would like to be able to walk around my room with my iPad in hand with access to my MacBook and projector set up to control presentations, show things from the internet, or whatever else comes up.
I am assuming there is some way to do this, but I really am not sure where to look since I am still fairly new with the iPad.  I've looked at apps like iTap VNC, but I am unsure if this is what I am looking for or if there is something else to consider.  Any expensive programs (over $20) or equipment is out of the question since I have to pay for it myself and will not be reimbursed.  I am unsure if this matters either, but the school is not providing us with any programs such as Keynote or other presentation programs.  I am currently using Open Office on my MacBook.
I should probably also add that I have seen questions about using the iPad with a MacBook Pro.  I was just unsure if similar solutions would work with this scenario.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

You need a remote app. Look at Team Viewer and Splashtop Remote. Both apps will allow you to control the computer from the iPad. I use Team Viewer a little now and then and you do have to get the hang of the movements and such, but both of the apps are for remote access of your computer.

  • Fan Control setting (MacBook Air)

I bought a second hand MacBook Air (model: A1237) and noticed that it came loaded with Fan Control, an app for controlling fans no less, so I took a screen shot of it and was hoping that somebody could let me know if everything was functioning normally please?

    The fans should function normally.

  • Remote desktop on MacBook Air

I have a Linksys 320 Router. I have connected a IMAC and MacBook Air via WIFI. I try to set up remote desktop from IMAC against MacBook Air.
In IMAC I can see the AIR. I have configured the AIR to enable desktop sharing. But the connection never sets up. It fails.
Which ports do I need to configure in my router from Linksys in port forwarding? Or have I missed anothr settings?

  • Can i use an apple remote on my macbook air 11 inches?

can i use an apple rremote on my MBA 11 inch?

The latest MacBooks no longer include an infrared sensor, so you can't use the Apple remote with them.

  • I am trying to use a remote control with mac air but no IR, how do I do it

Bought my Mac Air earlier this year, it has no IR, I have two types of remotes here plastic n metal but cant connect. There is no IR on the macair so I know this is part of the problem, so is there a workaround or a way to pair on bluetooth...If not is there a remote for this macair that will work??
    Thanks
    George

    Hi,
I use a Kensingtom USB controller that I have had for years.  It has forward and back, laser pointer and screen blackout function keys.  It doesn't act as a media controlller with volume, play, forward and back.

  • Using Microsoft Remote Desktop on MacBook Air using OS Yosemite 10.10.2

    Hi,
I have recently acquired a MacBook and have been trying to use Microsoft Remote Desktop software to open a cloud based server called Universal anywhere.
It has been working fine but now keeps crashing at various points, like when I type in the server name, it opens up using MRD, I enter my username and password and it comes up saying 'Microsoft Remote Desktop closed unexpectedly'. It will sometimes let me
go a bit further and get into the actual cloud based system I am trying to use, but always crashes eventually at some point after I have input software.

    Hi,
I cannot confirm if it is supported for Remote Desktop Client to remote to the third party cloud server. Also RDC is keeping updating since released, you can also check if a newer version is available and if it will get this back to work.
In the meantime you can also test to use a Windows system to Remote to that server incase the issue occurs on server side.

  • Is there an iPad APP to control my macbook air?

    thank you!

Parallels Access. Gives you your Mac desktop and ANY Mac application as if you were sitting in front of the Mac itself.
For the sort of experience it gives you, you have to pay... this is not a 99p app....

  • Pair apple remote with macbook air, pair apple remote with macbook air

can any one please tell me how to pair apple remote control with macbook Air ????

now, I had the same issue
solved it by transforming my phone (Nokia 2700 c ) into a bluetooth remote
    see this pages:
    http://www.salling.com/Clicker/mac/devices.php
    http://torrentsmd.com/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=87892828&page=p11032817 #11032817
search in the list if the phone you have is compatible, then install the little program and you may even have a remote MOUSE by just clicking it on your phone
PS. even if it yoru phone is not in the list there is a big chance that it will work, (mine wasnt in the list and it works like a charm) it is based on java if I understand corectly and most of the phones understand that programing language.

  • Remote with macbook air

can apple remote using with macbook air?

No you cannot use it as the new Air does not have an IR port.
So we have a great notebook, very slim and light - perfect for presentations. It just does not support the remote anymore - what a stupid decision!!!
You might recommend to buy a third party product which works with bluetooth. When doing so, you forget the following:
The original Apple Remote has a GREAT feature. You can pause a movie or flash animation which is placed into a slide at any time by pushing the PAUSE button. This is extremely helpful to explain something which is happening in your animation. This feature is gone now and this is a shame.
Does anyone know how to overcome this problem?
    Thank you!!!

  • Macbook air mid2012 can use the Remote Apple Control?

I want to know if a Macbook air mid2012 can work with the Remote Apple control. If so, how should I configure my macbook air to make it work?

No MacBook Airs can work with the Apple remote.  They do not have an IR sensor.
Apple are phasing the remote out.
If you have an iPhone, it can be set up to operate as a remote for your MBA.
There are 3rd party IR remote setups if having a remote is a must (say for training using Keynote).
