Remote control/desktop sharing

This is not your typical remote control for tech support - I have ZCM
11 for that. We have the following need. A user is working at their
desk, has a lot of files open including 3D models. User needs to talk
to a few people about the project while referencing everything on
their screen. Currently those people squeeze into the user's cubicle.
Works, but hardly ideal. What we would like to do is have some
computers setup in larger meeting areas. These computers would have
much larger monitors to facilitate group meetings. Rather than
exiting out of everything at their own PC and then opening it all on
the meeting area PC, we would prefer that the user could just mirror
their PC onto the meeting area PC.
One thought was that the user could mirror their screen to the meeting
room computer and bring the wireless keybd/mouse that is controlling
their own PC. But I don't think we can get keybd/mouse combos that
would transmit far enough for that - we could be 50-75 feet away.
So that means some type of remote control app, but I would want to
make it easy for the user to find and connect to their PC from the
meeting room PC. This will all happen within our LAN, so I don't need
some web-based service. And we will be manipulating 3D files, so I
need something that can handle a lot of video.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Ken

CrossTec SchoolVue might be what you need...or might be way overkill. I
use their remote-control software (live and die by it, actually), so
would guess that schoolvue is also a good solid product.

  • Iphone/Touch App that allows remote control of shared libraries

    Hey all,
    Curious if anyone has found this. I want to plug my macbook into my TV and play movies, music and tv shows on. All my content is stored on my imac in my other room. I can use front row to view the content on my macbook with the provided remote but I cannot use the Remote app for the touch to control my macbooks itunes shared libraries, only the itunes within the macbook.
    Simply put, you know when you open up front row, you can access shared libraries on other mac itunes accounts? You cannot access the same libraries through the Remote app when controlling the itunes on the same computer.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Control Lync desktop sharing between different subnets

    Hi all..I want to control desktop sharing between differnet network.You consider this as we have multiple process.So desktop sharing should not work between other federated partners.
    I have federation with xxxx.com for one xxxsubnet
    another federation with yyyy.com for different yyysubnet
    if i allow ports for desktop sharing with federated partner from both the network between theses partners all users can do desktop share.
    But i neeed a solution like xxx subnet can share desktop only with xxx.com and yyy can share desktop with yyyy.com

    Hi,
    The feature is not available at present. But you can try to use lync Server SDK to customize this feature.

  • Lync Application and Desktop Sharing - Restrict remote access/Telnet

    I have a customer and they are paranoid about using Lync application/desktop sharing which could potentially enable remote users from getting into their internal IT systems.  They are asking if we could restrict application/desktop sharing specifically
    for appls with remote access capabilities (e.g. Telnet, etc.)? Anyone could share any information relating to this? Thanks!

    We can’t do this with Lync Server natively. Maybe you want to vote idea at

  • [Lync 2013] - Desktop Sharing and taking control

    Hello,
    In Lync 2013 when someone shares his/her screen and I'm taking control of the shared screen I have the following problem:
    Everything works fine when I'm in control with other person's desktop, however when the Lync IM/Sharing window looses focus and then the focus is regained by clicking on the shared desktop, all the input is frozen in the Lync IM window.
    for example:
    I take control of shared screen, do something on the shared desktop, then I open something on my own PC (the Lync window is loosing focus at this moment), then when I click on the shared screen inside Lync IM window to continue controlling the remote desktop
    any input to the Lync window is "frozen".
    There is some error sound comming everytime I click in the Lync IM window during this time - just as there was some invisible popup that is blocking interaction with parent window
    to solve this I have to once again loose focus of Lync IM window and then regain it again.
    This is on many machines (Windows 7 64bit / Windows 8.1 Preview 64bit) using Lync 2013 32bit with and without updates
    I'm using multiple monitors, but it's the same on a single display - just open Lync IM/Sharing window in one half of the screen and open notepad on other half (don't minimize windows, just switch between them during sharing)
    Best Regards

    Hi Bartek,
    Did the issue happen on Windows 7/8 32 bit using Lync 2013 32 bit?
    Try Clean Boot to disable all non-Microsoft services and start Lync again:
    How to Clean Boot:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Since the OS is 64 bit, please remove Lync 2013 32 bit and install Lync 2013 client 64 bit and apply the latest update then test the issue again.

  • Desktop remote control software for iPhones?

    Is there any software for desktop pc's to remote control an iPhone? I see numerous apps to control things from the iPhone, but I need one for the other way around.
    We are looking to possibly deploy our own in-house app, but need to remote control the devices for troubleshooting/presentation purposes.
    Any information is appreciated!

    Not as of yet. The only thing that is remotely (no pun intended) close is remote file access, like apps such as Air Sharing.

  • Remote Desktop Sharing from Mobile Phone

    hello guys.. for my final year project i have selected to develop a software throught which user can control its home pc from a mobile phone.. i need help i have no idea where to start with but i do have passion and some coding experience for it can any one plzzz helpme in this matter

    I've already done this, and as such it is very tempting just to post a link to my version. But you will get nothing from that.
    You have a few questions to answer: first what is your target platform? Does "Mobile Phones" mean "any J2ME compliant phone", or Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, or Symbain Devices, or Brew compliant devices, or ...
    What does "Remote Desktop Sharing" mean to you? Which protocol do you wish to use? (VNC, Windows Terminal Services, PC Anywhere, X Windows, etc).
    This is for a "final year project" I'm guessing university level? If so, investigating, and research each of the options above is going to make a fair chunk of you work.
    The next (IMO) would be designing an interface that will let you interact with a full desktop on a device with a joystick, and two buttons. Not easy I can tell you.
    The "making it connect" bit is (IMO) easy. A basic (unthought out) VNC client took me one night to write.

  • How do I remote control a user in remote desktop services in Windows Server 2012?

    Hello,
    we currently operate in a 2008 R2 environment with the majority of clients connecting to our terminal servers.  We use the remote control feature in terminal services manager to connect to a users session when a user phones our helpdesk with
    a question / issue.
    Just today I've installed 2012 server on a hyper-v virtual machine to have a play with it.  I've installed the Remote Desktop Services and noticed this remote control feature is gone.  I can still log off or send a message to a user, but I can
    no longer remote control their session.
    I've seen one or two other posts stating this feature has been removed completely.
    So, a couple of questions:
    1. How on earth do I "shadow" or connect to a users session now?
    2. If I have to go third party to get this functionality back, what's the best software on the market for this and does it support remote connecting of users who have their RDP session span multiple monitors? (2008 R2 doesn't)
    3. Will Microsoft ever bring this feature back? as at this stage I doubt we would move to 2012.  This is the one feature that is crucial to the day-to-day running of our helpdesk.
    Cheers.

    A large percentage of our IT support business is through remote management. Most of our large enterprise customers are Terminal Server environment (now called Remote Desktop - why does Microsoft have to change EVERYTHING - how would they feel if I changed
    the colour of the sky from blue to red just because I could?).
    Last week, after much expense to the customer (and realising that there WOULD be some cosmetic headaches to contend with Server Management) we installed a new "Remote Desktop Server" for them and shifting them from 2003 - a big leap so we discovered.
    During deployment it came as a HORRIFIC surprise that we could not remote control user's sessions!
    Yes, we ARE to blame for not fully realising the cock-up Microsoft has made for us. We should have fully researched every detail of what changes they made and what they have robbed us of.
    Firstly, the removal of the ability to fully manage user's sessions came as a HUGE blow!
    The remaining multiple issues that followed (including the hugely cumbersome and SLOW way of accessing user's sessions and the false information that the console was reporting users logged in when they had already logged out) suddenly resulted in us decommissioning
    the new 2012 installation in favour of a 2008 R2 installation.
    Some may ask; Why not use "Third Party" apps to counteract the issue? Firstly; why spend MORE and why use a third party app that "is as" cumbersome to use just because of a freaking feature that Microsoft deemed a "security risk" - for G.D sake!
    We have now been directed by management to convince customers that a move to 2012 is NOT recommended - good choice boss, I love you!
    The question is; will Microsoft re-implement this feature and fix Server Management performance/accessibility in a future release before 2008 R2 is no longer available? Probably not - it looks like their stubbornness to forge ahead with their craze mind-set
    of transforming their products into something that is now annoying millions (including their bloody push towards everything-cloud which NONE of our customers want anything to do with).
    Microsoft! Get us back on to your side and take a step back, take a deep breath and listen to consumers!

  • Confilicts with XP "Remote Desktop" and ZFD4 "Remote Control"

    He have a similar problem like this. Some machines, after installing Zen4
    agent, after first login, the WS reboot automatically every time.
    He have discovered a conflit with display adapter ( Intel eXtreme graphics

    Resolution: With workstation at CTRL+ALT+DEL or password prompt, access
    the registry of this machine with a remote admin WS. At the
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run commands, find startup
    tools from the display adapter, like HotKeysCmds -> C:\Windows\System32
    \hkcmd.exe and remove them from registry.
    Logon at the WS and if it run fine, reinstall the display adapter.
    I hope this help you.

    Microsoft offers a free program called Remote Desktop Connection so you can do just that.

  • Remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

    What is the difference between remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

    Remote Control is a built-in feature for SCCM 2012 and uses the RPC protocol. When you use this, the user can still be logged on while helping.
    Remote Desktop is a buit-in feature for Windows and uses the RDP protcol. When you use it, the user will be logged off.
    Why you would use one over the other depends on your requirements.

  • Disable/Hide Clipboard Sharing in remote control viewer

    I need to give access to Help Desk Users so that they can take remote Control of the local machine but
    they can not copy paste files. I want 'Enable Clipboard Sharing' disabled. Is this possible?
    1. I tried thru registry entry in every helpdesk machine to change clipboard value to 0/1, Where users
    are allowed to modify to modify registry in HKLU entries  so unable to block.
    2. I am planning to control the clipboard settings in server level.
    So other than SCCM administrator, no one allowed to modify.
    Pls suggest

    This should do the trick:

    It's a user setting and not configurable through ConfigMgr. I would think you can use a GPO to set that key.

  • Remote Desktop Sharing

    I am making a project on desktop sharing which will show servers desktop to all the client connected to server. Exactly how will I proceed can any one tell me or can give me the code for simple operation ?

    1.) Use java.awt.Robot which can simulate user mouse and keyboard events
    2.) Call the java.awtRobot methods from the server class in the client
    Here is an example of an interface to use:
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public interface RemoteDesktopInterface extends Remote {
         public ImageIcon captureScreen(Rectangle screenRect) throws    RemoteException;
         public void keyPress(int keycode) throws RemoteException;
         public void keyRelease(int keycode) throws RemoteException;
         public void mouseMove(int x, int y) throws RemoteException;
         public void mousePress(int buttons) throws RemoteException;
         public void mouseRelease(int buttons) throws RemoteException;

  • Remote control fails if remote desktop connection has occurred...

    Windows 7 64 bit. ZCM 11.2.
    ZENworks Adaptive Agent Version: 11.2.0.16117
    I enabled remote desktop connections to the Windows 7 PC. I can
    remote control it through ZCM without any problems. But if someone
    makes a remote desktop connection to that PC, I can no longer remote
    control it until after the PC is restarted (haven't tested further to
    see what else will fix it). When I attempt to remote control through
    ZCM, it eventually times out with this error: "Communication error.
    It is likely that some other application is running on the specified
    port."
    Any known fix or workaround for this?
