Remote Control doesn't launch Media Center on Pavilion dv9535nr

Hi, is not big deal, but it's kinda annoying, the remote control (image) doesn't launch Windows Media Center with the top right button (green with Windows logo), I don't know exactly when, but it stopped launching Windows Media Center, and my OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bits) includes Windows Media Center (just in case, version 6.0.6001.18254). I can still launch it manually (shortcuts, etc).
I'd rather use Windows Media Center instead of QuickPlay, because of the Xbox 360 connectivity.
So, please, can somebody tell me how can I solve this problem ??
Thanks
PS. Please forgive my bad English, it's my second language.

So when you hit "Play" it will start playing off your playlist, but no media player ever opens? All I can think is if you are using some super small skin and just not noticing it off in a corner or something, or if you used to have multiple monitors and drug it onto the secondary and now only use one...
The only solution I found to make the hardware work right I don't think I'm supposed to post, because it includes "don't use any software coded by CL" lol. Also I don't think this would be the right solution for you, as it sounds like the remote is working fine with MediaSource for the most part (or I am horribly misunderstanding).

  • Earbuds remote control doesn't work anymore!

    Hi!
I've had an iPhone 4 since September 2010, and I've always used the earbuds that came with him. They used to work great until this week.
Now, it's buillt-in remote control doesn't work anymore.By that I mean I can not skip, pause or even use voice control through the earbuds.
And this probably isn't an iPhone problem, because I tested these earbuds in my iPad 2 and the remote control still doesn't work.
I noticed that the rubber that used to cover the cable itself is coming off, especially near the remote control area.
Is there a fix for these unresponsive controls?
Or what Apple email I should reach in order to ask them about this issue?
    Thanks!
My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.0 and so is my iPad 2.

Is your phone locked in portrait orientation? I've found that for some reason my controls will not work when my portrait orientation is locked.
Try double-clicking the main button, and then sliding your thumb right. You should get some controls at the bottom of your screen, and the button on the far left is the Portrait Lock button. Try unlocking your phone, and see if your earbuds will then work.
    Hope that might help!

  • Qosmio G30 - Media center remote control doesn't work in windows

    Dear All,
    I have Qosmio G30-194,
first i had a problem with the VGA , i send it for repair, when it comes back i noticed that the remote control is not working on windows Media Center, while in A/V mode it work perfectly.
I tried to do full system restore from the recovery DVD, but nothing changed, even i installed Windows Vista with all of its drivers.
Nothing changed also, I borrowed a USB IR received for another remote control it worked perfectly with my remote on windows.
Please advise me what to do, do i send it back to the service center , or there is an easier solution.

N.B, : My laptop info are:
    Model Number PQG32E-01P018AR
    Thank you in advance

don't expect toshiba to fix problems like this.
they replaced motherboard on my laptop and ever since the remote was not working.. it would turn the laptop on but was unresponsive thereafter. thing's we have tried:
    - install software and drivers for remote again
    - reinstall windows
    - replace reciever
    - change motherboard
    - change remote
    - terminate and restart relevant processes
    - downgrade bios
    - update bios
    - combinations of the above
on several occassions Toshiba told me they were able to replicate and solve the problem but after trying it on my laptop they remembered that actually their one was slightly different.
almost a year later, i still have a non-working remote
my theory is the laptop leaves factory with certain software which Toshiba fail to include in recovery partition and\or bios that is available through them... so once you lose the factory components (i.e.the original motherboard) you also lose some necessary files with them.

  • After updating my iphone 3G and my ipodtouch 3G ios5, universal dock and remote control doesn´t work

After updating my iphone 3G and my ipotouch 3G with ios5, the apple remote controls (the white and the aluminium one) doesn´t react when iphone or ipod are docked at the universal dock. The remote controls both still work with my Macbook, therefore it must be a problem with the dock. I have tried to connect both with the dock (Menu + left for 6 seconds) but it doesn´t help. Further the volume control doesn´t react on the iphone and the ipod when they are docked. Neither the one on the touchscreen nor the buttons. The day before the update everything was fine. Anyone any idea?
    Thanks!

Look at the previous posts on the right under the heading: "More Like This".  I appears that others are having the same problem.

  • Apple Remote controll doesn't work

    hi there.
I have read, that the Apple Remote Controll, that can be used for things like iPhoto & iTunes can also be used to controll Logic 8, starting and stopping playback ... .
Doesn't work at my system. Is there anything i have to setup? Have heared it should work by default.
    thx for help

    In iTunes 8:
Go into your iTunes preferences and select the Devices tab. Make sure "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" is selected. If it already is, try clicking "Forget All Remotes"
    In iTunes 7:
Go into your iTunes preferences and select the Advanced tab. Select the General tab beneath it, and make sure "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" is selected. If it already is, try clicking "Forget All Remotes"
You also want to be sure that both devices (the computer and the iPod) are connected to the same wireless network.

I too have this exact same issue.  The play, stop, forward, reverse buttons don't do anything, and also the sound buttons, they activate the volume window but not adjustment of the volume happens. The only buttons that work are the opening of applications and the power button. All this happened after I installed some free updating software for some other paid and free applications I have (Advanced SystemCare Professional), all quite legitiment, as a result there were corrupt icons and I had to uninstall the offending software and some corrupted software including Microsoft Office beta and reinstall... no viruses were found on a full Zonealarm scan.  I have the DV6-2113TX on Win-7.  If ANYONE has a clue how to fix the full functionality of the remote, please let me know as it's really niggling me that it just doesn't work even after reinstalling the drivers for the IR etc.
I tried contacting HP online and I get NO replies.  I am yet to phone.  It is still under warranty with 20 months left (8 months manufacturer, 12 months supplier).

  • My remote Control doesn't work with my new imac

I have a brand new iMac 27" with mountain lion, and Doesn't work with my aluminium remote control, I already follow the steps on Help, but there's no IR option on the advanced button of security and privacy. Of course I already check with my iphone dock and the batteries are OK, So I think it's a bug from the OS.

  • Remote Control doesn't work.

I got an Apple Remote control with my MacBook a while back. I refuses to work with my computer. It will not pair with my computer, it will not do anything. I read the support files, and I can see a blinking light when I hold it up to my camera in photo booth and press a button, so I know the batteries are working. The remote (or the receiver) does not want to work.

    Open System Profiler (Application/Utilities)
Under Hardware on the left, select USB. Under USB Device tree on the right you should see...
    USB Bus
    IR Receiver
    Is it there?

  • Premiere CS4 doesn't launch media encoder when exporting. Please help!

Trying to finish up a project but my school just upgraded to cs4 this week. It's running on a mac. I tried to export to no avail, watched a tutorial and saw that media encoder is supposed to launch on export. Since it wasn't launching, I went to media encoder and launched it seperately and re-exported. It still did not work. Is there a patch that needs downloading? Please help me get through this. I need to wrap this up ASAP.
    Thanks!

  • Questions about remote control and infrared port Qosmio F20

    Hi again,
My Toshiba Qosmio F20 comes with a remote control funcioning through a infrared device on the front of the computer.
Regarding this I have 2 questions:
    1. How do I configure additonal functionality through the remote control? (Like launching and controlling Winamp?)
    2. How do I connect other devices, like my cellular phone, pdas etc., to the infrared device on my computer?
    Kind regards,
    Vegard

    Hi,
the Remote Control delivered with the Qosmio F20 is designed only for Windows XP Media Center Edition (all Remote Control's which are designed for Windows XP Media Center Edition work only with Media Center or Windows Media Player). Other program's like Winamp were not supported by these Remote Control's.
I believe, the Remote Control's are made by Microsoft and for a wide palette of product's (the Infrared Transceiver is on nearly all Media Center PC's e.g. Siemens-Fujitsu, the same). So it's a little bit tricky to support more program's then Media Center or Windows Media Player.
For other program's you need a second Remote Control like this one:

  • Remote control and MSI PC-DTV Mega Sky 580

    Hello,
I bought one of these recently and initially had problems when installed. It would initially run fine but after I closed the program down and restarted it the PC would just reboot.
I was using the front USB ports so I moved it to the rear ports and removed and reinstalled the drivers/software. It runs just fine now and the quality of the picture superb. I've rerun the device over a few days and all seems okay. I appear to have all the available programs from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter although this morning I booted up and the screen was blank. I realised I had last looked at BBC4 and of course thats only a part time channel!
I've looked at the MSI site at the drivers/Presto PVR updates but I am not sure which of the four I should download and use. In fact as the device is working is there any advantage in doing this?
Lastly... I'm not sure if this is a problem or not but the remote control doesn't work. Reading through the forum I'm wondering if I have the wrong end of the stick and the remote only works with Microsofts MCE. I have Microsoft XP SP2. Does the Mega Sky 580 not have a built in IR sensor and am I wasting my time pointing the remote at it and swearing?
Microsoft XP SP2 with current updates.

    Hi,
Okay I have the bundled Presto PVR software so the unit must be faulty. I thought that the remote control and bundled Presto PVR would only work if installed on a PC where the operating system was Media Centre Edition.
So the remote control and bundled Presto PVR should work if installed on a PC with Windows XP SP2?
It looks a bit like I'll have to get a different make. I tried to rescan the channels last night because I was missing UKTV History and now I cannot get BBC1,2,3,4 or radios 3,4,6,7. I get loads of duplicates though like 5 Q's 4 ITV3's. All this on the same aerial I was using yesterday.
I even tried it with an indoor/attic aerial that works nicely with my other freeview (set-top style not PC) boxes but no matter what I tried I just get the same duplicated list of a few channels. Even tried it with the indoor/attack aerial upside down, back to front! Same list of 63 channels but most duplicated.
They all work fine but I would prefer a complete set

  • Mac Mini and Boxee as a media center

Seriously considering bying a Mac Mini to run as a media center. Has anyone some recent (2011) experiences, good and bad with Boxee to do the job?
Also, is the low-end Mac mini (2.3 GHz, 2GB RAM,Intel HD Graphics 3000) powerful enough to stream HQ movies and tv-series ?
    Thanks for any reply fellows.

Boxee has discontinued making the software available as an independent download for home systems. The goal is to get you to purchase their hardware.
Plex and XBMC are current and free to download.
My recommendation would be to download and install them both.
Try each of them and see which one you prefer.
If I may offer some additional advice...
    1) install the maximum RAM allowed in your Mini. Better safe than sorry. Not that you will or should experience any issues. It will simply save you from having to do so in the future. And far too many people run their systems with the basic amount of memory and wonder why their system runs slower as time marches on.
    2) Configure and administrate the Mini for ease of use as a media centre. Some OS and 3rd party software can and will interfere with your enjoyment of a simple media centre. Picture this, you're watching a movie on your media centre when suddenly a window pops up to alert you of a software update. I know it sounds like a minor thing but in the middle of a tense or gripping movie scene it can be VERY annoying. You will have to decide what is pertinent and what isn't. If you put the time in to administrate your Mini before regular use as a media centre you'll be happier in the long run.
    3) Speaking of administration, you may want to consider using Little Snitch. Buy, install and configure it so that your system is kept safe and any incoming/outgoing connections are established before running the media centre. 'Nuff said.
    4) If you have an iPad. iTouch or iPhone you can download remote control apps for your media centre. Some are free and some will come out of pocket. You may need to manage minor settings on both the Mini and your remote (iPhone, iPad, etc) before you can use the app. It's a lot easier than running up to the Mini's mouse & keyboard each time you want to watch a movie (example). You can set up more than one handheld device at a time so that you, your spouse, roommate, children, etc can control the media centre application.
    5) This one applies to all computers: invest in external storage devices. For me, I have 2 Terabyte hard drives connected to my Mini Media Centre. This allows me to store my movies, music and pictures external to the Mini safely. The second Terabyte hard drive acts as a backup to the first one in case (God forbid) something happens to the first one. This isn't paranoia. Just good data management and security.
I realize that all of this seems like a lot of work but it's not. Actually considered writing more but I think you get the picture. A little work upfront will make your Mini Media Centre experience a joy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows 10 update deprecates Windows Media Center

I was looking forward to the Wnidows 10 upgrade until I heard that Windows Media Center was going to be deleted during the update. My PC has great hardware integration with this software; DVB-T firmware and a really usefull remote control. All of which is likely to be unusable after the upgrade. Does HP have any future alternatives under Windows 10 planned that may be adopted by current users to maintain similar functionality?

According to the Device Manager, the internal TV Tuner is from AVerMedia, an H323 MiniCard Hybrid DVB-T.I have tried a few applications to connect to this tuner, but none have been successful, nor offered functionality similar to Windows Media Center. AVerMedia do not even acknowledge this specific hardware on their site, and their software is bundled with the hardware, which HP have not provided as part of this PC. DVB-T hardware aside, the remote is designed for Windows Media Center, and may not function with other software. The original enquiry was directed towards HP's future computers which will be bundled with Windows 10. If these future computers also have a TV Tuner, will that associated software be functional with current TouchSmart PCs?

  • Remote Control Service on clients is disabled

    Hello everyone,
I have a deployment of SCCM 2012 setup, a big improvement over 2007 so far, and everything was working great.  For whatever reason when I push the client installation to PC's or the client is installed during a OSD, everything appears to work perfectly
except the Remote Control doesn't work.  Further investigation lead me to the Configuration Manger Remote Control Service which was disabled.  If i manually enable it Remote Control works like expected.
In the Client Settings Policy for  the site I have the remote control configured and setup for access.  If I go to the client and look at the remote control settings under the options in the System Center app my policy settings are applied correctly
there, yet the service is disabled.
I am wondering if I am missing something or if anybody would know why this is happening.  I have ruled out Group Policy disabling this service.  As far as i know this is a new service to SCCM 2012.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Eric,
In short yes, I have done a few client push installations to PC's that had the SCCM 2007 client on them and everything seems to go fine except the remote control service remains disabled.  One was a Windows XP PC that we are going to leave alone and
see if the service starts on its own.  We have installed software and updates through the new client already on this machine so I know the 2012 client was installed correctly and is getting policies.  I did push the client install to two Win7 PC's
and the remote control service did not start right away, however when I checked them a few hours later the service was running and remote control sessions were successful.  So I'm not sure if I just wasn't patient enough or if something else was going
    on.
Testing to see if stuff is working after an OSD build is just easier for me.  I can image a PC, log in, make sure everything is working correctly, if not, I'll make changes, and then just re-image again. So far deployments of both WinXP and Win7 seem
to exhibit this behavior of the service not starting.  Could it be something to do with the WIM files I am using for the OSD's?  I had just made copies of the WIM files we used in SCCM 2007.
If you want me to provide some screenshots or log files I'll do what I can, however I will be out of the office for the weekend so I can't post them right away.

  • Looking for remote control App (iPhone) to use with iMovie

I just got a Macbook Air, and my infrared Apple remote control doesn't work with it.
I wanted to be able to do presentations (in this case using iMovie) and be able to have a remote so that I could pause, go back, fast forward, i.e. the usual things a remote does.
There probably is a good App that I can install on my iPhone that will let me use my iPhone as a remote control, but I don't know which one. Any suggestions????  Ideally, it would be a bluetooth program (although Wi-Fi would work too) that would also work with other programs, like Keynote.
    Thanks!
    Dan

Well, I don't know much about this, but if you need to control the actual system in some way, you are going to need to use JNI (Java Native Interface), which is essentially embedding C/C++ code in your java app, which doesn't lend well to platform-independence. I too develop on a Mac, and there is a mailing list for Java related issues on the Mac. You can check it out at: http://developer.apple.com/java/
If you sign up for ADC (Apple Developer Connection, it's free), you can have access to these mailing lists. They've been quite helpful to me in the past. I don't mean to slam the forums here, but you are looking for a Mac specific solution, and you'd probably get more specific information on this mailing list. Hope this helps!!
