Remote control error 1891 after eDir upgrade?

- NW6sp3 two-node cluster (production server) houses read/write replica
- NW6sp3 utility server houses master replica and is a ZenWorks 4IR5 server
- The above servers reside in a small chunk of a much larger NDS tree
- Roughly 150 users with the 4.90sp2 client + Zen4IR5 agent
- ConsoleOne 1.3.6c with current Zen and Cluster snapins
Is there a known preferred method (or recommended method) of authenticating
to either read/write or master replica's? Here is my issue:
Prior to upgrading all three servers above to eDir 8.7.3.3, I was able to
use Zen to remote control my users's PC's. I WAS logging into the cluster
(read/write replica), just like all my users still do today. I began seeing
the remote control error "1891" which various TID's describe as an issue
with close proximity to a pure IPX server, and remote control fails. I have
no IPX running in my network currently. Opened tickets with Novell in both
their Zen and eDir teams.....no solution's yet. As I began banging around,
I found that if I force my login to the utility server (master repica in
this case) I now regain remote control ability to my users that authenticate
to the cluster (read/write). Also, if I intentionally login to a different
context of our tree (have a different admin create a temp account for me in
his context, say) first and not into my own context, I can remote control my
users in my context via ConsoleOne. Similarly, if I login to a different
context upon startup, then once the Windows desktop is loaded and I right
click the red N in my system tray, and login as myself into my own context,
I can remote control users. The issue arises when the first context I login
to is my own. Odd I say, odd.
I've done every flavor of dsrepair switches (-xk3, -a, timesync, etc) and
provided logs to Novell. Each dsrepair variant returns zero errors. I
believe the tree is healthy from what I and Novell can tell.
Attached are some logs from about a month ago when I started seeing these
remote control errors. Please note the time stamps on both the remote
controller and remote controlled machines.
I've posted this over on the eDir board as well since it feels like an
authentication issue to me....
Thanks for taking the time to look at this,
Mike

  • 1487 remote control error after upgrade to SP1

We started testing a new server running NW 6.5 SP3 with Zenworks 6.5. After importing a few test workstations that were created using an image with zen 4.0.1 agents and then upgrading the agents to 6.5 agents we were getting a 1487 error message. Discovered that there was a SP1 for Zenworks and installed the service pack. upgraded the agent on the test workstations to the new version of agent 6.5.1.0. we were still getting the 1487 error. Tried deleting the workstation from console one and rebooted the test machine. it reimported but we still are getting a 1487 error trying to do remote control. if I initiate a request session it works just fine or if I do a remote control from the user object. Any help would be appreciated
    Thank you,
    Chad Miller

    Chad,
How are you doing workstation import?
Is the case of the containers leading to your workstation objects all the
same in the Windows registry and what they are in eDirectory?...

  • Remote control stops working after a few days

    NW 6 SP3
    ZFD 3.2 SP2
After importing workstations, remote control works fine. After a few
days, remote ping might work but NOT remote control. Sometimes even remote ping errors out with the message that the "REMOTE MANAGEMENT
    AGENT
IS NOT RUNNING"(when it appears it is). If I stop and start the
    "novell
wuser agent" service, then I can usually remote control the
    workstation
again. Occasionally, however, I get the message "The Remote
    Management
agent was unable to locate the workstation in NDS". At which point I
    have
to delete the workstation object and re-import the workstation to be
    able
    to remote control it again.
    Any help is appreciated.

I have a different server for each site(city) hosting the import
services. There is only one variable allowed in DNS so all sites
    would
try to get services and register to the same server.
Using the container login script for each site to set the /s parameter
    was
easier than changing the registry setting for each
workstation...especially if that server changed. This way I would
    only
have to change it one place.
If the workstation has already been registered and imported AND I can
remote control it, does it NEED to find the import server again if it
hasn't been rebooted since the last time I remote controlled it?
    Thanks, jg

  • Remote Control Error.

I am new to this forum and new to Novell so bear with me (and apparently I was in the wrong forum so I have recreated this here). When our techs try to remote control a Windows XP PC they may get an error message at the beginning of the session or when the session is closed. The message is RCConsole MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. The techs run ConsoleOne from a server. We then have the user request a control session, the tech supplies an ip address, the tech responds to the request, the user gives the go ahead and the session dies. When I tested this on a couple of PCs the error occured when I closed the session. This appears to me to be a network rights issue. I had the techs copy and run ConsoleOne from their PCs and it ran fine. When I ran ConsoleOne from the network server, but with network rights, it also ran fine. RCConsole appears to be trying to create/write a .txt file in the following folder: \ConsoleOne\1.2\bin\zen\RcLaunch and it gets an access denied. The file is called RMErrorLog1.txt. The techs do not have and will not have write access to the network directory structure. Also, the preference here is to have them run the program from the network.
I am told that this process used to work so I can only assume that RCConsole has been changed to output these .txt files when it didn't do that before. I haven't been able to determine how to turn off these files or whether that would be wise. This .txt file seems to be more of a log file than an error file (lots of RCListener: Ready to accept connections... lines). Does anyone know what these .txt files are and how to turn them off?
    Thanks.

  • Unknown Error 13019 After Latest Upgrade

After performing the latest upgrade to my 3GS yesterday, whenever I synch it, it appears to finish but then gives the message at the end "... iPhone cannot be synched. An unknown error occurred (13019)." Everything seems to work afterwards. Any ideas/suggestions?
    TIA!

After Restoring my iPhone, I was able to Re-Sync it with my Mac. It took about 20-30 minutes, but it worked. No more "unknown error 13019."
I tried unsyncing and syncing and all that and it did not make the error message go away.
Fortunately, I did not loose any info before or after this happened.

  • Runtime Error "RUNT_ILLEGAL_SWITCH" after Kernel upgrade to 640 (274)

    Hi All,
We have upgraded our kernel from 640 (175) to 640 (274) after which we are getting frequent runtime errors RUNT_ILLEGAL_SWITCH in thousands. The program that is terminating is "SAPMSDYP" because of the incorrect system state.
We are on Sun Solaris, Oracle 9.2.0.4 with SAP 4.7 (640)
This is specifically happening in Test system. TheDev system is fine with the new kernel. This also happens only on the central Instance of the test system.
Can you please help me if you have had this situation and steps to solve it.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hi,
This is most likely due to buffer inconsistancy problem, have you tried rebooting the server?
Also take a look at SAP note 351695.

  • Error message after kdelibs upgrade

Hello, I hope this is the right forum for this
I ran "pacman -Su" today and it upgraded my kdelibs...
now each time I try to leave konqueror settings I get the error :
There was an error loading the module.
    The diagnostics is:
Library files for "libkcm_crypto.la" not found in paths
    Possible reasons:
An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module
You have old third party modules lying around.
Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager.
It doesn't affect so far anything else I've seen....
    Thank you

kdelibs is rebuilt because of the really-not-so-funny update of openssl ... and now i try to reconstruct what else changed in kde to solve it
thanx a lot for this posting
the file it mentioned is not existend in the vanilla arch, so another kde-pkg has to be rebuilt too (besides kdelibs and kdenetwork that is building right now the 2nd time)
please be patient, i work on this
    EDIT:
kdebase is rebuilt ... and available in about a hour ... it should solve this (it works for me on a uptodate arch installation)

  • How can I resolve iCal desktop application error message after Yosemite upgrade?

After upgrading Yosemite on my MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac, my iCloud calendar generates an error message: "The server is currently unreachable or the connection was blocked."
I am able to create and edit my iCloud calendar events on my iPad, my iPhone, and any browser by signing into iCloud.com.
All other services such as Mail, reminders, keychain, and so on continue to work normally.
Other services like Google's Calendar continue to work seamlessly across all mobile devices, web browsers, and the iCal desktop applications.
I have logged out of iCloud in System Preferences and then logged back, but that did not resolve the issue.
This is concerning since I am unable to add, edit, or delete events in the iCal desktop software on my computers.
    Any help welcome!

    Found my solution!
When logging back into iCloud in System Preferences, I received an error message that my (iCloud) account could not verify the "identity" of the "p03-caldev.icloud.com" account.
I was required to "trust" an Entrust.net Secure Server Certification Authority certificate to remove the error message.
Everything now synchronizes across iCal on my computers and my mobile devices/icloud.com.

  • ITunes restore error message after iphone upgrade to OS5

Since installing iphone OS5 I've been getting a message when connecting to itunes that my restore was interrupted and would I like to continue to restore from my last backup. I've tried restoring several times and I keep getting the same error message at the end of the restore. I also had trouble installing the OS5 upgrade because of an error -34 (something related to the fact that my music was compressed). How do I restore my phone so that this error does not keep appearing? It seems no data was lost.

Do you still have access to the old system? If so drag the iPHtoo library on the new system to the desktop and Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • Error message after iTunes upgrade

    The error message reads:
"The attempt to burn the disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
    What does this mean?
I am using the same discs as I always have. I just installed the latest upgrade. version 6.0.5
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Well, I thought that the iTunes upgrade had something to do with my inability to burn CDs. I can't say for sure that was the case but I do know that what fixed my problem (if you can believe this) was installing the QuickTime update. I'm thinking that the iTunes update corrupted something, but installing the QT update corrected the problem. Now I can burn with no problems whatsoever. You may want to give it a try.

  • Error 1003 after i upgrade from office 2000 to 2003

I just now upgraded form MSOffice 2000 to MSOffice 2003. When I tried to rebuild my app using application builder I get an error 1003 c:\...\internal.llb\excel_save_workbook.vi. Possible reasons: The vi is not executable. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled office and I have copied the toolkit's files to the harddrive and reinstalled the report generation toolkit from there, according to some of the help files in the knowledge base. Neither worked, although the original error was in _exceldynamicvis.vi and now its in the one mentioned above. nothing else has changed on the system. I can recompile my entire program using ctrl-shift and pressing the arrow at the same time, and there are no problems. Any help would be appreciated.
    -Mike

    Hi Mike,
Try opening the “excel_save_workbook.vi” and see if there is a broken run arrow in that VI. Hopefully there is. You can then identify the exact node (it will be some invoke node or property node) that will be set to some function or property that is no longer valid in the new Office 2003 API.
The issue here is that upgrading office causes changes in the office API that break other applications that call methods or properties of the old office API. You’ll just have to manually go in and reset the function call to the new function call in each of the VIs to update them with the new office 2003 API.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!

  • IPhone 3g (16gb, black) 2.1 gives an error message after the upgrade.

    Hoi,
Ik heb een T-Mobile iPhone 16gb (zwart) geupgrade van 2.0.2 naar 2.1.
Upgrade is goed gegaan, tot het moment dat ik een venster zag met de tekst "Waiting for activation. This may take some time." met de knop Dismiss.

I have talked to several iphone technical reps and received different answers in regards to this issue. I work for at&t and had my 1st customer with this issue today. When he left our store last night his phone was fine. He upgraded this morning to the 2.1.2 upgrade and that's when his phone was left crippled on the "waiting for activation" message. I was advised to have the customer reset the iphone in every different way possible. Also the customer did a restore from itunes. None of this helped and now the phone will be replaced. All of the reps I spoke with even tried to blame it on activation when his sim card was clearly working in other phones. After 3 hours of back and forth there was no answer.
