Remote Control MBP from Desktop

How do I set up my MBP so that I can login and access it remotely? I thought there was a program to do this in utilities but now I don't see it.

Thanks Engstrom. What if it's not on the same network? My gf is using my MBP and she lives out of state. She let someone borrow it and now she is having so many issues with the MBP and I need to look at it and fix everything. She lives out of state so would I need to install something like LogMe In (https://secure.logmein.com/US/home.aspx) or can I do this straight from my desktop Mac to my MBP?

  • [solve]android remote control of arch desktop

Hi.... i have been snooping round aur and found a few packages that claim to work as remote controls of an arch linux box with an android phone... unfortunately, none have been updated in over 12 months, and just dont install or work.... is anyone using any thing successfully?
Last edited by ninjaprawn (2012-11-19 17:10:28)

I know this post is solved and getting pretty old but I felt like I should add a few excellent suggestions to the list.
Splashtop 2 and Teamviewer are both nice programs for controlling ones Arch, or other LINUX desktop, with an Android, they both have apps for the iPhone too.. Splashtop is made for Ubuntu, however it is in the AUR and they also give you the source of course. Http://www.splashtop.com that's my favorite one cuz there's many quality options..
Also, there is one called wificheema, this one is not in the repositories as I just did a search and was left empty handed. I'm not quite sure if wificheema worked on Arch or not as it's been awhile since I've used it because of it's lack of a quality zoom feature, I believe that was the only issue and for me it was a deal breaker cuz I have a tiny screen on my phone..
@Maxp, those were brilliant ideas, I have no idea why they never crossed my mind before. So obvious when you think about it.. Thanks for those, I'm definitely gonna give those a shot on my Android cuz there's no splashtop for my model phone.
Have either of you tried with the RDP app. I used to have it for windows but am not sure if it's for LINUX as well..

  • How to remotely control objects from transport request

    Hi all,
I have to perform some task but can't find the way to get it done. What I have to do is:
    a) get list of transport requests for given SAP system (i.e. its import queue)
    b) let the user choose transport requests from the list
    c) get list of all objects from chosen transport requests
    d) control these objects in source and destination (from point a) ) SAP system.
Points a) to c) are easy and already done (using appropriate function modules and ALV objects). But I have no idea how to do things from point d). Control means comparison of dates (i.e. last modified) of objects in source and destination SAP system. The main goal of this approach is to avoid transportation of older objects from source system (DEV) and overwritting newer versions of the objects in destination system (PRD). I tried to use SAP versioning system to check versions remotely (the same way as it can be done from standard SAP transactions, e.g. SE38 for program source) with RFC and it worked fine (see function module SVRS_DISPLAY_REMOTE_DIR). But what about other objects not covered with versioning system? There are 932 objects that can be transported (at least TR_OBJECT_TABLE function module says so). Versions management system covers about 30 (program source, function module, object methods, table definitions, lock objects, and so on) of them. The problem is with the rest (900 transportable objects).
How can I check their dates remotely in source and destination SAP system. Any clues? Manual retrieval of the information about dates of 900 various SAP elements must be very difficult (if possible at all) because so many objects must be spreaded out in many tables. Is there any universal or standard way (report, RFC function module) to get required information?
    Thanx in advance,
    Jacek Witczak

    Hi
There is no automatic way to delete the unnecessary objects from the transport reqeust.
    1. Go to Tcode se09 and select the request which contains the unnecessary objects.
    2. Select the unnecessary objects and delete manually.
Also if you want to delete the entire request then unlock the request in the tcode SE03 and then delete the request completely.
Also note that if the request is released then you will not be able to delete the objects in that request.
    Hope it helps.

  • App remotely control presentation from iPhone

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a simple app similar to the "Remote" app. Basically, it can connect via WiFi to a Mac and controls the presentation (MS Powerpoint 2008) on it, like going to the next or the previous slide. Also, there would be a "server" running on the Mac that can talk to the iPhone app, which acts as client. Can anyone give me some pointers on how the client and server may be built? Thanks in advance.

Very informational. I'm trying to implement a simple version of iClickr, namely go to the next or previous slide only. Can you give me some further suggestion, or even sample code, on how this implementation can be achieved?

  • ZCM remote control on Windows 7 slow

    Hi!
Well, ZCM 11.2.1, Windows 7. Noticed that Remote Control via ZCC is ... strangely slow when user is logged in. On CAD screen it's ok. Well, this is first W7 device in zone, haven't noticed such a thing on WXP.
Btw. Using Intel KVM (also VNC) ... it is much more quicker, well, sure, hardware based etc., but anyway.
Also, I use on my WXP device remote control soft from ZCM 10.x, maybe this the cause, not sure ZCM 11.x remote control soft does work with ZCM 10, I need them both running on my desktop as most of computers in ZCM 10 zone.
    Any ideas?
    More thanks, Alar.

I'm not aware that you can use both versions of the Remote Management Plugin against two diff. Zones.
    Perhaps that's the issue?
Do you have a pc that you can install JUST the ZCM 11.x remote management viewer and then try to remote control a ZCM 11.x agent?

  • Queries Greyed out Remote Control

    Hello there
We have migrated from a Landesk platform to System center, and our admin team is used to seeing a main device view where they remotely control machines from. I have created the query I want but the remote control options are greyed out. I have been playing
with all types of queries and I can get some to work, but If I add a join to another query it just brakes it.. This is basically on the back of the below link.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a0e22223-0802-46a0-a1b7-048773620cca/sccm-2012-remote-control-from-queries?forum=configmanagergeneral
I would be grateful if you could provide me with any information, surrounding this topic area or if it is being reviewed in future releases.
    Thanks

I have pretty much been doing that torsten.... but I just can not get the desired query to work..
The other annoying thing, is when I have a query that allows remote control.. I link it to a device collection.. and it doesnt display all the fields in the query..
    Anyone else having these difficulties?
Are we going to see any improvements in this area going forward?

  • PCs freeze when remote controlled

I'm having an issue with certain PCs which freeze whenever I attempt to remote control them from ZCC.
When you accept the certificate, the "Zenworks Remote Management Connection" window appears and stops at "Client Initialization Message Sent", at this point the target PC completely locks-up.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to which PCs this affects, and because the PC freezes, there is no entry in the log file or windows event log.
Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. (ZCM 10.2.2 - Win XP Pro SP2 / 3)
    Paul.

For one of the devices with the issue, try going to the configuration
tab of the device being RC'd, Selecting Remote Management, select
override settings, and then deselect the "Enable Optimization Driver".
If that helps, look to see if there is an update for the video driver.

  • Disabling the MBP's ability to receive signals from remote control?

I own an AppleTV, my roomate uses a Macbook and I have the Macbook Pro, and they all use the same remote control and signal. Anytime we use the remote for the AppleTV it sends our notebooks into Front Row. Is there anyway to disable the mac's ability to receive the signal from the remotes?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
What you need to do is pair each Apple Remote so that it's only recognised by the Mac it's paired with. The following Apple KB Documents will guide you on how to achieve this:

  • How do I remote control a user in remote desktop services in Windows Server 2012?

    Hello,
we currently operate in a 2008 R2 environment with the majority of clients connecting to our terminal servers.  We use the remote control feature in terminal services manager to connect to a users session when a user phones our helpdesk with
    a question / issue.
Just today I've installed 2012 server on a hyper-v virtual machine to have a play with it.  I've installed the Remote Desktop Services and noticed this remote control feature is gone.  I can still log off or send a message to a user, but I can
no longer remote control their session.
I've seen one or two other posts stating this feature has been removed completely.
    So, a couple of questions:
    1. How on earth do I "shadow" or connect to a users session now?
    2. If I have to go third party to get this functionality back, what's the best software on the market for this and does it support remote connecting of users who have their RDP session span multiple monitors? (2008 R2 doesn't)
    3. Will Microsoft ever bring this feature back? as at this stage I doubt we would move to 2012.  This is the one feature that is crucial to the day-to-day running of our helpdesk.
    Cheers.

A large percentage of our IT support business is through remote management. Most of our large enterprise customers are Terminal Server environment (now called Remote Desktop - why does Microsoft have to change EVERYTHING - how would they feel if I changed
the colour of the sky from blue to red just because I could?).
Last week, after much expense to the customer (and realising that there WOULD be some cosmetic headaches to contend with Server Management) we installed a new "Remote Desktop Server" for them and shifting them from 2003 - a big leap so we discovered.
During deployment it came as a HORRIFIC surprise that we could not remote control user's sessions!
Yes, we ARE to blame for not fully realising the cock-up Microsoft has made for us. We should have fully researched every detail of what changes they made and what they have robbed us of.
Firstly, the removal of the ability to fully manage user's sessions came as a HUGE blow!
The remaining multiple issues that followed (including the hugely cumbersome and SLOW way of accessing user's sessions and the false information that the console was reporting users logged in when they had already logged out) suddenly resulted in us decommissioning
the new 2012 installation in favour of a 2008 R2 installation.
Some may ask; Why not use "Third Party" apps to counteract the issue? Firstly; why spend MORE and why use a third party app that "is as" cumbersome to use just because of a freaking feature that Microsoft deemed a "security risk" - for G.D sake!
We have now been directed by management to convince customers that a move to 2012 is NOT recommended - good choice boss, I love you!
The question is; will Microsoft re-implement this feature and fix Server Management performance/accessibility in a future release before 2008 R2 is no longer available? Probably not - it looks like their stubbornness to forge ahead with their craze mind-set
of transforming their products into something that is now annoying millions (including their bloody push towards everything-cloud which NONE of our customers want anything to do with).
Microsoft! Get us back on to your side and take a step back, take a deep breath and listen to consumers!

  • Confilicts with XP "Remote Desktop" and ZFD4 "Remote Control"

He have a similar problem like this. Some machines, after installing Zen4
agent, after first login, the WS reboot automatically every time.
He have discovered a conflit with display adapter ( Intel eXtreme graphics
    2 ).
Resolution: With workstation at CTRL+ALT+DEL or password prompt, access
the registry of this machine with a remote admin WS. At the
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run commands, find startup
tools from the display adapter, like HotKeysCmds -> C:\Windows\System32
\hkcmd.exe and remove them from registry.
Logon at the WS and if it run fine, reinstall the display adapter.
    I hope this help you.

  • Desktop remote control software for iPhones?

Is there any software for desktop pc's to remote control an iPhone? I see numerous apps to control things from the iPhone, but I need one for the other way around.
We are looking to possibly deploy our own in-house app, but need to remote control the devices for troubleshooting/presentation purposes.

Not as of yet. The only thing that is remotely (no pun intended) close is remote file access, like apps such as Air Sharing.

  • MS Remote Desktop for Mac (v8.0.9 - 8.0.12): issue with "Session (ID #) remote control failed."

    Hello,
I'm a SysAdmin for a small-med business in CO. We use a cluster of 3 RDS servers that are load-balanced with round-robin DNS and an RD Gateway. When I remote in from a PC, all works as expected. However, when I remote in from my MacPro (my main machine at home)
and try to remote control a user's session, I get this error:
Note the ID number is unique to the user's RDP session, so will vary each time.
This is 100% a bug in the "Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac" program; I am positive of it at this point.
Does anyone from MS actually monitor these threads at all, or am I wasting my time? Thanks...

    Hi,
As this happens with him specific from MRD MAC check whether he is taking RDP with IP address or hostname. Also try to uncheck the Option "Bypass RD Gateway for local address" under RDSH configuration and verify the result.
Also for more detail he can collect log from MAC side by following path.
