Remote Control Wireless Client ?

We're running Cisco LEAP enabled wireless clients on NT. Our Helpdesk would like to remote control these machines. Problem is: The HelpDesk administrators need Administrator privileges. They need to log in as themselves...remotely.
When they do a "close all programs & log in as different user" , of course the remote control session is lost & can't be reestablished till the client is LEAP authenticated, which can't happen till the remote user is logged in.....Catch 22.
Any ideas for a solution would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks,

Jeff - I've been working with a company that has created an app that gets around that problem - even through firewall connections - plus the Help Desk can use any client with a browser, which means that support OF and FROM mobile devices will finally work.
Of course the best way to see an app like that is an on-line demo so you can take over yourself.

  • Cannot remote control clients in another domain

    Hi,
I have successfully rolled out SCCM 2012 clients with SCEP to machines in our current domain but I now need to do the same to another domain (in a two way trusted forest/domain). I can install the clients without any issue (by adding the DNSSUFFIX argument
to the client push so it can find it's way home), and they are reporting back in successfully including inventories.
However I cannot remote control any of these clients from the console, I've added a domain admin account (from the trusted domain) as a viewer and I've added the Windows firewall exceptions in the agent details. I can get to these clients without any
issues, tracert is fine so I know the routing is good.
If I try and connect I get the generic "Cannot connect to computer" (after "initiating security handshake"), if I do it direct from the Remote Control client I can remote control the client after dismissing the warning "Remote computer
identity cannot be identified". But I understand that this uses NTLM rather than Kerberos.
What have I missed ? I had all this working in SCCM 2007 without any issues so pretty sure the underlying infrastructure is sound.
Any help gratefully received and thanks for taking the time to read this.
    Brian.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply - I'll put this is the one reply it's easier !
    @Jason
Interesting about the DNSSUFFIX thing, there are DNS forwarders back to the domain and it seems to find its way home. When I had SCCM 2007 I used the SMSSLP parameter for the client install, I can't do that in SCCM 2012 hence the DNSSUFFIX parameter.

The issue is from the console - I can connect via FQDN or IP but get the warning "The Remote computer identity cannot be verified".
    @Joyce
See the extract above, thanks for pointing me towards this log. I can confirm that the correct Firewall exceptions are in place and the membership of the ConfigMgr Remote Control Users reflects the permitted viewers in the client settings.
Just seeing if I can resolve the lookup issue, DNS seems to fine ! Unless I've missed something in SCCM.

  • Remote control options with SCCM 2012 PKI

Does anyone have the remote control feature working with SCCM 2012 R2 running in HTTPS mode?  My last message on the console upon trying to start a remote connection is "Initializing a security handshake...".  Firewall has been temporarily
disabled on the client.  Client certificate is PKI and connection type is 'Always Internet'.
    Thanks

PKI, certs, and HTTPS client communication have nothing to do with Remote Control; Remote Control is peer to peer over a custom port (2702 I think but could be wrong). Because it is peer to peer though, you cannot use Remote Control to clients on the Internet
or where direct traffic on this port cannot pass.

  • Wireless remote control and FM transmitter in one?

    Hello.
Does anbody know if there is a wireless remote control and FM transmitter in one product out yet for the iPod? I am wanting to keep my iPod in the trunk of my GoldWing and control it while I ride transmitting through the FM tuner.
Other ideas or a combination of products to accomplish this much appreciated!
    thanks
    iPod 80 GB   Windows XP

I spent some time (2 hrs) again with the vendor, trying to solve the issue.
The only result we got is that, when the PC is in suspended status, it can be resumed by pressing "ON" button of the IR Remote Control. That's all.
My suspect is therefore confirmed: it isn't a hardware issue. It lokks like the IR Remote Controller and the PC can talk eachother, but they speak different languages.
It is quite a surprise that I couldn't find any information on the use  (Settings? Activation?) of the remote control, nor in the topics of this forum. Really I'm the only one trying to watch TV on the PC? Are there any users of a C540 who can tell me their experience?
    Thank you

  • Remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

What is the difference between remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

Remote Control is a built-in feature for SCCM 2012 and uses the RPC protocol. When you use this, the user can still be logged on while helping.
Remote Desktop is a buit-in feature for Windows and uses the RDP protcol. When you use it, the user will be logged off.
Why you would use one over the other depends on your requirements.

  • HT4260 Can i control which wireless clients i like to betrol which wireless clients i like to be connected on my airport base station?

Can i control which wireless clients i like to betrol which wireless clients i like to be connected on my airport base station?

Yes. Use AirPort Utility's MAC Address Access Control.
AirPort Utility > select your base station > Edit button > Network tab > "Enable Access Control" > click the Timed Access Control button.
You need to specify the clients you want to control by their MAC address, which is usually printed on the device's exterior case.

  • Configuration Manager Client Agent Backwards Compatibility - Remote Control

    Hello all,
I'm not seeing this anywhere so I'll ask it here.  Once I complete the R2 upgrade from SP1 and the clients begin to upgrade using the Automatic Client Upgrade option there will be a number of clients upgraded to R2 and a number still at SP1.  Do
the client agent components on those that are still at SP1 continue to function?  In particular I'm wondering about Remote Control.  My thought is the answer is yes.  Is there backwards compatibility until all client agents are upgraded?
    Thanks!

    Yes, there is.

  • Remote Control Service on clients is disabled

    Hello everyone,
I have a deployment of SCCM 2012 setup, a big improvement over 2007 so far, and everything was working great.  For whatever reason when I push the client installation to PC's or the client is installed during a OSD, everything appears to work perfectly
except the Remote Control doesn't work.  Further investigation lead me to the Configuration Manger Remote Control Service which was disabled.  If i manually enable it Remote Control works like expected.
In the Client Settings Policy for  the site I have the remote control configured and setup for access.  If I go to the client and look at the remote control settings under the options in the System Center app my policy settings are applied correctly
there, yet the service is disabled.
I am wondering if I am missing something or if anybody would know why this is happening.  I have ruled out Group Policy disabling this service.  As far as i know this is a new service to SCCM 2012.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Eric,
In short yes, I have done a few client push installations to PC's that had the SCCM 2007 client on them and everything seems to go fine except the remote control service remains disabled.  One was a Windows XP PC that we are going to leave alone and
see if the service starts on its own.  We have installed software and updates through the new client already on this machine so I know the 2012 client was installed correctly and is getting policies.  I did push the client install to two Win7 PC's
and the remote control service did not start right away, however when I checked them a few hours later the service was running and remote control sessions were successful.  So I'm not sure if I just wasn't patient enough or if something else was going
    on.
Testing to see if stuff is working after an OSD build is just easier for me.  I can image a PC, log in, make sure everything is working correctly, if not, I'll make changes, and then just re-image again. So far deployments of both WinXP and Win7 seem
to exhibit this behavior of the service not starting.  Could it be something to do with the WIM files I am using for the OSD's?  I had just made copies of the WIM files we used in SCCM 2007.
If you want me to provide some screenshots or log files I'll do what I can, however I will be out of the office for the weekend so I can't post them right away.

  • Unplugging all network devices from Fios router prevents DVR freezing and remote control lock ups.

    All,
I recently had a Verizon tech visit my house due to constant DVR and remote control freezing. TV content was freezing whether it was locally recorded, pulled from another DVR in the house, or On Demand. On a hunch after the tech tested everything and was about to leave, he unplugged my gigabit switch from the Fios router. Lo and behold everything started running perfectly. Since to the tech, the problem was solved, he closed the case and was on his way. The probem is of course I have more devices than the built in router switch provides ports for. My network is compised of an 8 port Netgear gigabit switch downstream from the Fios router with two wireless access points (with their own built in gigbait switches) connecting to the Netgear gigabit switch. There are no loops in the switch topology. I've tried changing out the router, the gigabit switch, removing the wireless acces points individually as well as plugging the access points directly into the Fios router switch (one at a time with no Netgear switch in the middle) and all scenarious cause the DVR/remote control freeezing to come back. The only devices I can plug into the Fios router without causing freezes are PC's....anything with it's own switch essentially brings the network to it's knees. If anyone has an idea how to get my network back in one piece AND make the DVR's/remotes behave, I'd greatly appreciate the help!

*All SNR/dB mesasurements taken by the tech from the set-top boxes and router are well within spec.
Fios router provides DHCP addressing. Wireless N access points are configured for roaming with the same SSID and non-overlapping channels. Access points are not providing routing or IP adressing...all layer 3 and up services still provided by Fios router

I am inclined to echo several of the "tns" comments, particularly with respect to your splitter.  My layout is based on a standard 8-port splitter of the type usually supplied in a VZ install.  In addition I do have a ChannelPlus device that functions as a powered splitter, but its use is limited to distribution of secondary TV signals to older analog TVs.  My first point then is that this may be an offender as "tns" has suggested.
In addition, I'd describe your wiring as "non-standard" (red-colored items in the above diagram)  As you're no doubt aware, with 75/35 you don't really need Cat5e from the ONT (your original diagram).  It seems the highest tiers do require it, but in "standard" installations this run is coax directly to an 8-port non-powered splitter (below diagram), then from that splitter via coax to all STBs and CableCards, other TVs, et.), and also to the Actiontec.   Subsequent feeds from the Actiontec to wired devices (including WAPs) are via Ethernet (typically Cat 5e).
In fact I don't immediately see how your STBs get additional services such as On Demand and IMG with the wiring shown in your diagram (perhaps someone can help me out here).  In "standard" installs the Actiontec must be connected via coax to the ONT to provide such services to other network clients.  I don't see that requirement being met here.
For starters I'd recommend that you change your service from WAN Ethernet to WAN coax.  This can easily be accomplished over the telephone.  Then I'd run coax directly from the ONT to the Actiontec as in my revised diagram below (blue-colored items).  If your setup can manage with this arrangement, I think it will help greatly with the "freezing" issue.

Subsequent Note:  You provided additional info while I was composing a response, and I'd  like to offer another comment.  Structured wiring "panels" of the type usually available are pre-configured to provide data, phone and video.  This usually means that one is in certain respects limited by the ideas of the panel designer.  I have what can be called a structured wiring layout, but it really is composed of individual small custom networks for  each service (automation, security, video, data, telco, etc.), configured so that all wiring terminates in "home run" fashion at a central panel (a few details here: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Home-Networking/Cmon-Show-Us-Your-Network/m-p/481733#M765 ).  This layout makes it easier to make adjustments (and there have been quite a few over the intervening years).  I'm thinking that in your case you may have to abandon the powered splitter (presumably) built into the panel in order to avoid your present fix.
Subsequent Subsequent Note:   From your description it seems that you are using more than a single "whole house" DVR to supply programming to other devices.  This is a bit puzzling to me because somewhere along the line I recall reading that only a single whole house DVR was allowed on the network.  Can you elaborate a bit?

  • SCCM remote control keeps dropping out when another network adaptor loses connection

    Hey guys,
Hopefully someone will be able to help me out
at work, we are running SCCM 2012, and I use SCCM 2012 config manager to manage the clients etc
We have a particularly annoying issue with SCCM remote control; it constantly drops out when a network connection on the client machine disconnects or changes state, even if its not interface I'm remote controlling through
    Here's an example for you:
a laptop with a wired, and wireless connection:
I remote control the machine through the wired network address (lets say 192.168.0.1), but if the wireless connection drops out (someone turns it off or it breaks) the remote control client will kick me off, lock the screen, and I have to wait 20-30 seconds
before it will accept my connection again
This happens with any network adaptor that's installed on the client
Here is a copy of the logs re-creating this issue: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nu4w28d44xky3rg/CmRcService.log
(I've edited it to take out usernames and IP addresses as they are publicly accessible)
So my question, does any one know how to fix this issue? I see it uses WMI, is there anyway to get WMI to ignore an interface?
    Thanks heaps,
    Harry

This is going to be done by design for security reasons. If the network connect for whatever reason is down the pc will automatically be locked.

  • Control wirelessly without a computer?

sorry if this has been asked before(i did search but didn't find anything) but is there a way to wirelessly remote control airtune?
I mean, my computer is downstairs, and my stereo is upstairs, i can't just go running up and down all the time just to change the song etc. and, there is a problem, i don't have another computer upstairs, so, is there anyway that you can control wirelessly?
*I have a palm that has wireless B, can i use that to control airtune?

If you run a VNC server on the Mac and run a VNC client on the Palm you will be able to remotely control the Mac and therefore control iTunes. Your Palm must be connected to your Airport network.
Note that (from my experience with a PocketPC) you wouldn't want to try and do anything more complicated than using iTunes in minimised mode.
    For the Mac: OSXvnc
For the Palm: Google Search on Palm VNC clients

  • Some Wireless clients won't authenticate to 887VA-W

    Hi folks
I've swapped over a few months ago from an 877w router to an 887VAw which has a separate AP in-built, and there are a few wireless clients that had no problem authenticating to the 877w but just refuse to communicate to the 887VA-W.
The clients in question are set top box type devices : (1)Now TV and (2) Sky Wireless Adapter.
They have no problem seeing the SSID's being broadcast, and for troubleshooting I've setup an open test SSID without any encryption, but the clients still won't authenticate and grab an ip address, or more accurately they just don't get a dhcp ip address so I don't think authentication is really the issue. I don't know why these clients aren't happy with dhcp on the guest vlan (vlan2) where other clients get an ip address and work fine. Perhaps the fact I'm using vlan1 (being used for the Eap-Fast home wlan) as the native untagged vlan might have something to do with it? If I use a static ip address on the guest vlan (vlan 2 / ip 10.1.1.n ) then the Sky Wireless Adapter can send and receive packets across the wlan.
Can anybody please suggest some debugs or config changes to try and nail the problem? The relevant configs from the AP is pasted below, and the router below that.

    Hi Sebastian
Please see ip dhcp debug from 887VA-W showing the Sky client requesting an ip address but failing to get one. Also a debug from an 877-W showing successful dhcp assignment. Also the dhcp config as requested. The successful trace shows 2 mac addresses from the Sky wireless adapter/ Sky box each getting a dhcp address. I don't know whether the failure is a bug in the 887 dhcp code or some config in the embedded AP that needs tweaking.

  • Remote Control and Remote View Problem

    Hi,
I work at a High School running Netware 6.0 SP5 and Zen works 4.01 ir7.
Remote Control and Remote View works great but I noticed one problem.
We have a logo of the school that is forced down on to the desktop when a
user logs in through group policies. This logo works perfect for the
desktop wall paper and loads every time a user logs in.
When I Remote Control or Remote View a computer the users desktop wall
paper turns from the logo being forced down through group policies to the
desktop to a blue desktop wall paper.
I would prefer the desktop wall paper staying the schools logo when I
Remote Control or Remote View because if the desktop wall paper changes to
the blue color I mentioned above when I Remote Control or Remote View the
users computer, they will know that someone is taking over their computer
which sometimes we dont want them knowing.
We have Windows 98SE computer running Novell Client 3.4 and we have some
computers running Windows XP Professional SP1 and Windows XP Professional
    SP2 both running Novell Client 4.91 SP2.
The Remote Control and Remote View problem of the desktop wall paper
changing on the users computer occurs on all operating systems mentioned
    above.
Is there a solution to my above problem? When Remote Controlling and
Remote Viewing someone's computer I don't want the desktop wall paper to
    change.
    Thanks!

  • Remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC with the new IPad

With the latest version of ITunes for both Win7 and the new IPad, I'm only able to use the new IPad to remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC through wired connection  ( ethernet cable ) to the wireless router. As soon as I connect my PC through wireless connection, the new IPad can not find my libraries.
Is this a known issue or am I missing some settings?
    Thanks,

Are you using the 64 bit installer?

  • Remote Control and error 1456

We are having a Remote control issue with more and more PC's. If they are
logged in, we can remote control them. If they have bee restarted and are
waiting to log in, then we can not remote control them. We Can use
    diagnostics on them though....
Zen 4.01 ir7 is where we are.
We are also having an issue where many times after imaging, the ISD is not
populated into windows, and gets associated with our Image PC's workstation
object. If we clear the ISD, delete both workstation objects, and reboot the
target PC, it does re-import correctly. The remote control issue does not
get fixed when this happens though....
I have seen that rmerrorlog.txt has been asked for in the past to help solve
this issue, so We are including that. Any help in resolving what we have set
    wrong is appreciated.
