Remote Desktop Connection for Mac to Windows - logout error

Hello
I'm trying to use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to get from my Mac into a MacMini running Windows XP Professional. I can log into the Windows computer, but once I put in my password and click OK, it logs out of the Windows machine. Is there some sort of sharing preference or configuration that I'm missing that's making this happen?
I want to be able to use RDC to access the Windows machine and keep everything up still on the Windows machine.
Thanks

Since RDC is not an Apple product, you'll probably want to use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups> rather than an Apple forum
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered.

  • Remote Desktop Connection for Mac - connection lost after a minute idle

    Hi There,
I am trying to connect from a Macbook Pro to my work (XP) machine using the latest Remote Desktop Connection for Mac.
It used to work fine, and recently it has been dropping the connection if I've not been 'active' for a minute or so.
What is confusing is that it is not always like this. Some days, I can leave it inactive for hours over lunch etc, and I'll come back and it will be fine. And just the other day, in the morning it dropped me out ever minute or so I was inactive, and then the afternoon was fine, and the evening was troublsome again.
Our administrators had not changed anything during that time, nor had I changed anything on my XP machine at work, or my Mac at home.
I connect via a wireless connection.
These problems occur when running on battery and when plugged in.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    ThreeIsles

Since RDC is not an Apple product, you should post your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac version of RDC:

  • MS Remote Desktop Connection for Mac: Capslock Key

I've started having an issue with the Mac RDP client where when I switch away from a full screen remoted windows machine to another space, then back to the windows machine, the windows machine believes the Caps Lock key is active.
I have to switch back to another space, activate the caps lock key, switch back, then deactivate in order to turn caps lock off.
This was not always the case. It started doing this a few months back, but it does it now 4 out of 5 times.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea how to fix?
    R,
    Dan

Yes, i have the same problem and it's totally annoying
I found a workaround - when the Caps Lock turns on in Windows, start your on-screen keyboard and turn it off and then close the on-screen keyboard by double clicking on the upper right corner icon (otherwise the remote desktop hangs). Hope someone finds a solution for the Caps Lock problem...

    Hello Fiona,
Congratulations on your new iPhone!  You can sync information to your iPhone from your MacBook Pro using the Info tab in iTunes when your iPhone is connected.  Use the steps in the following article:

  • Remote Desktop Client for Mac and SSO

    Hi.
We have RDS Deployment (Windows Server 2012 R2) with RD Connection Brokers, RD Session Hosts and Web Access.
Windows clients log on without any issues, credentials must be entered only once (Single Sign On).
But Mac clients must enter their credentials twice (on CB and SH).
Does Remote Desktop Client for Mac support SSO and if it does, what special settings are required?
Mac users use Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.13.

Sorry, I have missed important detail. This problem appears when I open .rdp files.
Really, if I create connection and save my credentials, I will not enter credentials. But in this case I can't specify Collection
(loadbalanceinfo:s:tsv://MS Terminal Services Plugin.1.SomeCollection - parameter in .rpd file).
In my case, I open .rdp file, connect to RD Connection Broker, log in to RD CB, RD CB redirects me to RD
Session Host, I log in to RD SH (enter credential second time) and now I connect. In this chain could be a RD Gateway.
When I connect to the same farm with the same .rdp file from Windows client, I have enter credential only once (SSO works).
    So my question: Does  Remote
Desktop Client for Mac support SSO? I know that SSO require CredSSP, is it implemented in Client for Mac?

  • Downgrade Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for Mac

Is there a way to downgrade to a previous version of the microsoft remote desktop client for mac? We are experiencing issues with one of our published remote apps (regarding window focus i.e. which window of the open application is at the front of the
users screen) since upgrading to 8.0.9. This application was OK in 8.0.5. Can we revert to an older version?

We are also experiencing similar issues regarding window sizes and display settings with our remote resources, since upgrading. We are using remote desktop application for iPhone/iPad. Upon opening of our Remote App, although we have set the command-line
argument to open to full screen, we see the application resizing 3 times before it finally opens - and it does not open in full screen. Please assist.

  • Control alt delete from remote desktop connection through virtual pc windows xp on windows 7 professional

Ok this is an odd one but I am connecting to a server through a vpn which only works on windows xp so I ran a virtual pc instance to connect, and then did a remote desktop connection to the server (Windows server 2008). I need to be able to activate the
control-alt-delete combination on the server however, to change a password. ctrl + alt + del obviously goes back to my actual machine, and ctrl + alt + end acts on my virtual pc. Is there any way to push the command through to the remote server?

    Hi Cooljoe,
Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
    end.
There should be no conflicts between them.

    Hi,
When you try to start the Remote Destop Connection, what errors it showed out?
Could the other PCs connect this PC with the RDC?
So you have read this blog?
RDP connections might fail due to a problem with KB2621440 - MS12-020
    Did you reinstalled the KB2621440?
Besides, did you follow this guide to enable the RDC connection?
Connect to another computer using Remote Desktop Connection
    And also this guide?
Why can’t I connect using Remote Desktop Connection?
Please take a check with those settings again.
    Best regards

  • Remote desktop connection for iphone?

I am currently using my mac and remote desktop connection to access my work desktop. Can we do the same thing with the iphone? it would be really usefull
    thanks
    JF

It would be a bit tough to navigate, but quite useful. I would suspect it would not be long after the SDK is released that we would see at the least VNC software.

  • Remote desktop connection unable to start, window stalls when opens RDC, any tips

remote desktop connection does not open, when rdc starts it stalls and can not press any button.
any ideas on how to fix?

Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums. This forum is for Apple Remote Desktop issues and questions and so probably not the place where you'll be most likely to get assistance with this problem.
    Good luck.

  • Remote Desktop Client for MAC Broken Pipe! message

    Hi there,
One of our clients uses Remote Desktop for MAC. One in a while he gets the message "Broken pipe!". His session has been lost.
I could not find or reproduce the same error. It looks like a connection problem, but this specific message must mean something.
Is there anyone who can explain this explicit error message?
I have not seen the message myself. The only thing I know is it contains "Broken pipe!"

    Hi,
I have never seen this error before. The only thing I know about the word “Pipe” is related to SQL Server.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Mouse Slow with Windows 2012

    Hello:
I am connecting to a customer site with Citrix and using Citrix's Remote Desktop. I know this may be a Citrix issue but not sure. Customer isn't helping so thought I would check here.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it an issue specific to Citrix or to Remote Desktop in general?
    Thanks,

  • Where to get Apple Remote Desktop Client for MAC OSX 10.6 8

Hello, I have MAC OSX 10.6.8 and I wanted to know where to get Apple Remote Desktop that is compatible with OSX 10.6.8. The one that is showing in apple store for download will work only with the lastest MAC OS.X - Thanks all.

    Welcome,
The Client is built into all OSX base software so there is no download. It's the Admin (controller) software that is downloaded

  • Remote Desktop Client For Mac?

Hi! I wanted to get the remote desktop client by MS onto my iBook g4. I am running leopard, and the webpage says it is a universal application, but when I download the .DMG the Installer application comes up and tells me I need an Intel Processor. Anybody know what's going on here? And does anyone know if the 1.0.3 version will run under Leopard? If it does, would I need to download stuffit expander and Apple Disc Copy like it says, or is that built into Disk utility at this point? And would I need to download the .bin or the .hqx files? Thanks, any help will be appreciated!

  • Windows 8.1 Remote Desktop Connection dies with feeble "An internal error has occurred" with SonicWALL VPN

Back when life was simple, under Windows XP, i simply fired up my SonicWALL client, connected to the host, and then connected via RDC and all was good.
Now I have Windows 8.1 and SonicWALL's v4.9.0.1202 64-bit client.  I can connect with the client - although it seems to drop the connection quite a bit - but when it is up, I can ping the host.  But when I try to RDC, I get the completely unhelpful
    error mentioned above.
My version of 8.1 is up-to-date - the VPN client came right from DELL's website.  What am I doing wrong?
Just in case you want to know, yes - I can RDC to non VPN and PPTP VPN sites no problem - and on the same LAN, my XP box can RDC with SonicWALL with no issues.
Please, somebody - i need to get back to Planet 10!

Did you ever find a solution to this problem. I am having the exact same problem
