Remote Desktop my Mac at home from Windows at work?
Hi all,
I was wondering how I could access my Mac (Leopard) that's running at home using Windows (XP) that I use at work. I know this is possible, but I wasn't sure how. What software do I use? How do I configure it? How do I make sure it's secure?
I appreciate any help.
Never mind, I found the appropriate section for this sort of question.
For anyone with a similar question, head over to the forum for Apple Remote Desktop (ARD). FYI, I managed to connect with the built-in ARD (apparantly for Tiger and above) and used TightVNC on Windows to connect.

Hello,
I'm a SysAdmin for a small-med business in CO. We use a cluster of 3 RDS servers that are load-balanced with round-robin DNS and an RD Gateway. When I remote in from a PC, all works as expected. However, when I remote in from my MacPro (my main machine at home)
and try to remote control a user's session, I get this error:
Note the ID number is unique to the user's RDP session, so will vary each time.
This is 100% a bug in the "Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac" program; I am positive of it at this point.
Does anyone from MS actually monitor these threads at all, or am I wasting my time? Thanks...Hi,
As this happens with him specific from MRD MAC check whether he is taking RDP with IP address or hostname. Also try to uncheck the Option "Bypass RD Gateway for local address" under RDSH configuration and verify the result.
Also for more detail he can collect log from MAC side by following path.

Hope it helps!

Cannot access Mac OS Partition from windows 8 running in boot camp
So I installed Windows 8.1 Pro through Boot Camp but I can't access the Mac OS partition from windows even though boot camp partition shows up while I'm on Mac OS. I have installed all the drivers from apple but still it didn't work. Then I downloaded Paragon HFS+ which was free for windows 8 and 8.1 thinking that this would solve my problem. The instructions told me to change the drive letter for mac partition from disk management by right clicking the drive pressing "change drive letter and path" button. But the "change drive letter and path" key in grey color and I can't press it. Can somebody please help?

Error 500 from Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac and for iOS but not for Windows
I am running Windows Server Standard 2012 as a basic File server and Remote Access Server. I am able to log into to Server remotely using Windows Remote Desktop Client on Windows 7 and 8 machines without problems
When I try to log in using outside the local network using MRD version 8.0.24308 using OS X 10.9.1 or using iOS 7.0.4, I get the following error:
" The gateway failed to connect with the message: 500 Internal Server Error"
I can also log in remotely WITHIN the local network on a Mac or iOS device, it works without getting an error
Any Ideas? My IT person has tried all these and I still get a 500 error when I log in from Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.5.
Here is part of the MRD log dump (not clear where to send the log since MRD doesn't provide an address when you dump the log into email):

How could I turn off the Command Key to Windows Key mapping in Remote Desktop for Mac 8

Agreed. Cannot stop it by disabling the "Windows" key (from within Windows 7). Every time I Cmd-Tab to change apps, the Start Menu pops up,
and persists, overlaying other app windows. Much more than annoying.
Also, there is no Clipboard Sharing, apparently. Love typing in long binary strings into the Registry. -
Remote desktop to mac from another mac
Hi
I have 24" inch intel iMac and a 15.4" MBP. I am wondering whether there is any way to control iMac from my MBP.
I am able to use Chicken VNC to control iMac. But it is painful to use. The iMac has 1980x1020 resolution whereas my MBP has 1400x900 I think. It keeps scrolling the screen. It was painful.
I am looking for something better. Something that is atleast as good as Microsoft remote desktop or Cord.
What are my options?
Apple Remote desktop: Is it free?
I appreciate your help.
Thanks
VideogyIf you're going from Mac to Mac, you don't need to download anything.
On your source machine (the one you want to control), just go to Sys Prefs -> Sharing and tick "Screen Sharing".
Then on the target Mac (the one that you will be controlling from), you should be able to see it on your local network. When you connect to it, you should see an option in that window to go to Screen Sharing. Authenticate yourself as the user on the source machine, and you're in! The screen can automatically scale to put the whole of your source screen on your target screen.

Can't connect remote PC with Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac after using a new router
I'm using a Windows 8.1 computer as a HTPC to download files and I set it logins automatically and I just need to press the power button then use RD for Mac to control the HTPC without extra monitor, keyboard...
Here is the problem: After I took my Mac and HTPC to another place, I can't connect it with new router now. (I change the PC name to new local IP, nothing else changed)
It shows on screen that:
Unable to connect to remote PC. Please verify Remote Desktop is enabled, the remote PC is turned on and available on the network, and then try again.
I can use shared disk drive of the HTPC on my Mac so I know the connection works.
Thanks!Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Generally, if it is a home network environment, please use IP address of the target computer as the PC name.

Remote Desktop Connection MAC to MS
I work in the USA and connect to a server in Australia. I have been using a PC with a MS OS with great success. I just bought this Mac Book Pro Retina 15" and have not used a Mac before. I am not sure I can keep it if I cannot get better performance when working connected remote to the Australian server. This would be a shame because it is a fantastic machine. I have been using a free MS Remote Desktop Connection for Mac program to connect and work. Does anyone have experience working from a remote desktop connection using the Apple $79 Remote Desktop Connection program and is connecting to a MS OS server?
The main issue is speed, and the view does not fill the screen. It does not fill the screen with either view options, "Fill or Full Screen". There is about 1 1/8 on either side with the best option of "Full Screen" and 1 1/2 to the edge of the lid. The program always creates an error message as well, but it is just a cert warning.
I have some time left to decide if I can keep this Mac Book or need to go back to a PC. I really do not want to spend another $85 if the Apple program is not much better than the MS free program?
Any experience with connecting using the Apple software to a server for tasks like email in MS Outlook and data base work would be appreciated.
Thanks,Apple Remote Desktop is intended for managing networked Macs. While it can be used to connect to a Windows system by running VNC on the Windows box, it's no better than Microsoft's RDC and is often tricky to set up. I've been using iTap Mobile RDP, available in the Mac App Store or from the company's web site, to connect to my Windows systems. iTap Mobile is much faster than either Microsoft RDC or CoRD (a freeware RDC client), in my experience, and very stable and has been well worth the money.
You can get a trial version of iTAp Mobile here and test for yourself before purchasing:
