Remote desktop not allowed between two Windows 8.1 pro pcs

PC1 client of a domain
PC2 notebook (no domain)
User (in remote access) is a domain administrator and also pc1 admin.Logon is not allowed from pc2 to pc1 with the following message:
"The system administrator has restricted the types of logon (network or interactive) that you may use. For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support."
no problem if I use a PC with Windows 7 or XP
The standard configurations for remote access are equal for the two pc: no network authentication is required"
Thanks

Hi,
Enable the two policies below on PC1 to check how it works:
Computer Settings\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security\Require use of specific security layer for remote (RDP) connections
        Set Security Layer to RDP
2.   Computer Settings\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security\ Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication
Set to Disabled

  • Remote Desktop Connection Authentication Error from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 7 Pro

    I keep trying to connect to my server running Windows 7 Pro from my laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I get the following message after providing
    my credentials:
    "An authentication error has occurred (Code: 0x8007001f)"
    I can't find any reference to this error code being associated with using remote desktop.

    Hello,
    Are you connecting to a server as part of a domain ? if so confirm you are using adequate credentials for remote desktop for example: username: domain\administrator
    if not you can try connecting to the localhost using:
    username: .\administrator   - for example
    also you can try running your remote connection in admin mode:
    Win + R - bring up run then type:
    mstsc /admin
    hope that helps.
    Cheers,

  • Remote Desktop to servers crashes on Windows 8.1 Pro

    Hi All,
    I have done a search for this issue previously, but have been unable to find any information relating to my specific issue.
    I have a Windows 8.1 Lennovo workstation with a pretty fresh install, and about 50% of the time I connect to our Windows 2003/2008R2 servers using remote desktop connection, it hangs, and tells me it has stopped responding.

    Interestingly enough, I had the same issue on my previous Fujitsu PC, which was also running Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I suspect it is some application I have installed on the machine causing the issue, but I don't have anything unusual installed.
    If the above sheds any light on this, I will thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.

    Hi,
    According to your description, since system is just fresh installed, it should not other application cause this problem. It is most probably caused by Certificate or Firewall problem, please try to disable Firewall or upgrade your RDP Certificate for test.

  • Problem with Remote Desktop on iPad 2 and windows 8.1 pro

    I downloaded the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the App Store on my iPad 2. I typed in the IP address for my windows 8.1 pro computer on my iPad 2 in school to try connecting to my windows 8.1 pro computer at home. I'm having
    a hard time doing it. Do I need a rd remote gateway to access my computer from outside my local network. If so, how do I find my gateway server name? Also, I saw somewhere that I have to press accept in a pop up message on the computer your trying to connect
    to. Is this true? No one is home during the day and my iPad 2 has to stay in school. Can you please give me a step by step guide with photos to help me connect to my windows 8.1 pro computer from my iPad 2 from school, which is of course outside my local network.

  • Remote desktop not connecting

    So basically i have set up a server, created a domain, everything is fine, the server can access the internet, it can see other computers in the network, the computers can see the server. Problem is I want to administrate the server remotely. So i set up
    the remote desktop to allow users to connect remotely. Problem is it only lets me connect from other pc in the same network , I cannot make a connection from an outside network. I am trying many different options but none seem to help.
    I have placed users in the list which allows the remote desktop connection
    I tried disabling the firewall, i added the ports ranging 3387-3390 tcp and udp. Enabled any inbound and outbound rule for remote desktop.
    Tried port forwarding though there are 2 routers on the network so i had access to only one . I forwarded the same ports through the router. And called the internet provider to forward the ports for their router. (They havent dont that as i am writing this
    so that may be the problem but i cant be sure).
    I tried installing teamviewer as an alternative. Problem is when i installed it , it didnt work also. It said there is no internet connection and that i have to check it. Then it tries to connect to the StayAlive server but fails ant tells me that i may
    have a proxy , and i should manually set up its settings , but there is no proxy. So from what i have gathered . I am really at a loss here is there some settings i messed up in the windows server or is this a problem with ports not being open.
    I am having a hard time figuring out where the problem is , as i have tried doing every settings that comes to mind, but it has been a pain in the behind getting remote desktop to work from an outside network.
    Also i do know the outside Ip of the network, i use that to connect to the server but have no luck with that. I am open to any suggestions anyone may have. I will try to provide as much info as possible to help me solve this problem.

    I dont quite understand, problem is that it doesnt even connect to the server it basically times out while trying to connect, at first i thought maybe it was because there are no users with licenses added but the error would be different when connecting,
    also as i have said , i installed teamviewer on the server and it says to check internet connection, though the server can reach the internet. I tried creating the gateway, the wizard just created it . It didnt ask me to add any users. Can the server be somehow
    blocking connections, but not notifying? As there are no logs of connection attempts. It just seems that the server cant be reached from the outside only from inside the local network.
    The computers in the same network can use teamviewer, but the server even though being on the same network cannot. Firewall is turned off, no antivirus firewalls are present, ports have been forwarded through both routers. I cannot seem to find the reason
    to this problem.

  • Control alt delete from remote desktop connection through virtual pc windows xp on windows 7 professional

    Ok this is an odd one but I am connecting to a server through a vpn which only works on windows xp so I ran a virtual pc instance to connect, and then did a remote desktop connection to the server (Windows server 2008). I need to be able to activate the
    control-alt-delete combination on the server however, to change a password. ctrl + alt + del obviously goes back to my actual machine, and ctrl + alt + end acts on my virtual pc. Is there any way to push the command through to the remote server?

    Hi Cooljoe,
    Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
    Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
    Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
    end.
    There should be no conflicts between them.

  • How can we navigate between two windows of same component in webdynpro ABAP

    Hi
    how can we navigate between two windows( not views ) of same component in webdynpro ABAP. its an urgent requirement
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Laeeq

    Hi Laeeq,
    You cannot navigate between windows of one component. You can only call a dialog box showing the contents of a second window, or you can embed the contents of a window of a different component.
    Just add all the views you need to the one and only main window of the component.

  • Remote Desktop - not running/no listener on port 3389

    Hello,
    I have a problem with RDS (Remote Desktop) on a Windows 7 machine. It worked fine for the past 2 years.
    Error: The computer can’t connect to the remote computer.
    First I checked some settings:
    RDP enabled (also tried to disable, reboot en then enable)
    Registry: fEnableWinStation (1)
    Firewall is disabled
    RDP / RDS services are running
    Problem:
    RDP/RDS is not listening
    “qwinsta” command: rdp-tcp is not listed
    “netstat –an” command: no listener on port 3389
    (rdp is configured to use the default port, 3389)
    I also checked the “RDP Winstation driver” and the “Remote Desktop Services Security Filter Driver”.
    Statup type: Demand
    Problem: Both are NOT started.
    When I start them manually, or set the startup type to “boot” and then reboot
    the drivers will start, but it makes no difference. Still not listening on 3389.
    Does someone know a solution besides reinstall the OS.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Firstly, I would like to check when did this issue happen? Whether you have tried installed some software or updates?
    Meanwhile, please try to perform a
    system restore to check the result.
    Also check the server settings, here is a similar thread:

  • Signalling between two Windows

    I am not sure how to signal between two Windows created in the same Thread.
    Suppose I have two Windows, WindowA and WindowB (either is a descendent from the Window hierarchy - ie. JFrame, JDialog, etc.).
    WindowB can be instantiated with different parameters that cause it to look different.
    I want to do something like this in a method in my WindowA class: (pseudo-code)
    for int 1 to n
    hide this window; (i.e. WindowA)
    instantiate and display a new WindowB object (with xxxxx parameters)
    wait for WindowB to signal this WindowA object that it should
    now create a new WindowB object and display that new object
    somewhere in Class code for WindowB
    signal WindowA;
    How do I set up a "wait and signal" between the two Windows? Without it, WindowA will keep going through the for loop creating new Windows immediately -> I would like it to wait until WindowB signals that it is ok to do so.
    Thanks for any help.
    -TJW

    Here's an example:
    class CreateWindows {
         int count = 0;
         int limit = 5;
         public CreateWindows(int limit) {
              this.limit = limit;
              create();
         void create() {
              if (++count < limit) {
                   new WindowA(new SignalListener() {
                        public void signal() {
                             create();
    interface SignalListener {
         void signal();
    class WindowA {
         public WindowA(SignalListener listener) {
              // do things
              listener.signal();

  • Drag and Drop between two windows

    I would like to implement Drag and Drop between two windows for example in Windows I can take URL Address form browser and drag it and drop it in to any control that excepts String like TextField.
    I would like to have the same behavior with my Java Text Controls.
    What can I do to achieve this?

    There is no configuration for it. It should work.
    Can you try it in a different user account. If it works in a different account, then it is likely something in your current user account that is messed up. If it doesn't work in another user account, then it is likely something with Mail, itself.
    You could try downloading and installing the 10.6.7 combo update. That may repair what is wrong.

  • Drag&Drop between two windows

    Hi
    I am interested to know if in the latest version of abap webdynpro it is possible to do drag&drop between two windows?
    And if it is possible to have a floating part of a window ( that I can move it around the screen )?
    Thanks
    Nitsan

    Hi
    Thank u Thomas and Chris for your helpful answers!
    Still there is something I want to be sure about, the interaction that can be done between this floating window
    and the opening window.
    Can both window stay active and communicate between them?
    Ill give an example of what I mean:
    Lets say that I have window with few tables from this window I open another window with a list. now I want to dynamically
    move an item from this list to one of the tables in the parent window or move an item from one of the tables to this list.
    Can this scenario be implemented in abap webdynpro?
    Thanks,
    Nitsan

  • Windows 8.1 Remote Desktop Not Connecting - "Credentials Did Not Work"

    Hi,
    I am having trouble connecting remotely to my work's servers.  It was previously working fine, but today I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now I'm getting an error.  It says my credentials do not work.  Now, my username and password are both still
    valid, as they were used to log in from another computer.  I initially thought it was that the firewall was preventing me from connecting, but I enabled the Remote Desktop app and it still does not work.
    I'm kind of at a loss on where to go from here so any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Please try the method below to fix this problem for test.
    Open Group Policy, then navigate to
    Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Credentials Delegation\
    Open Setting Allow Delegating Saved Credentials with NTLM-only Server Authentication, set it to
    Enabled click on button Show... and in Show Contents
    window add Value TERMSRV/terminal.server.com. Close all windows by pressing
    OK.
    In the end, Open cmd and enter gpupdate
    command to update your policy.

  • IOS App 8.1.5 Remote Desktop can't connect to Windows 7 Pro after upgrade. Error 0x00000507

    Nothing has changed between my network, Windows 7 computer or my iPad besides the upgrade of the ios app software to 8.1.5.  Did not used to have any issues connecting but now when I try to connect, I get the above error when logging in.
    I have tried reinstalling the ios app with no success and also confirmed I can still remote desktop to the PC from another PC with the credentials I've always been using.
    I've also tried explicitly including the domain when entering the username with no luck.  Looked through my Windows 7 event logs and can't find any more information on what this error means.
    Has anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas what I can do to troubleshoot? Thanks!

    Hi,
    I have a same problem.
    Although RD Client 8.1.4 worked great, now I cannot connect to Windows 7 Professional computer from my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4) since the latest update.
    Same as Twiggles, when I try to log in (just after entering username and password), the app gives me error code 0x507 "Disconnected from server".
    Note that I connect to my PC over VPN using Cisco AnyConnect app.
    After that, I've tried to connect to my PC in two different ways with same network settings as the above situation.
    1. Use different remote app
    I've tested free version of "PocketCloud" from Dell Wyse, and I CAN connect to my PC.
    2. Use different version of iOS
    I've tested the latest RD Client 8.1.5 on my another iPhone (5s) with iOS 8.1, and I CAN connect to my PC.
    Therefore, I assume our 0x507 is not setting related, but probably some sort of iOS version dependent problem arise from the latest update.
    Even though I tried PocketCloud, I believe RD Client is the BEST app for remote desktop for iOS.
    I strongly hope this problem will be solved!
    Thanks.
