Remote desktop software

Is there any iPod touch app to control yer pc like remote desktop on the pc?
Also how do you stay logged in to this site? It keeps asking me to log in each time I come back and try to post.
Is there anyway to have flash work the www?

Try this
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=288362576&mt=8
(this is just the lite version, the full is $5.99 i think)
Or this maybe: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=284984448&mt=8
And i think you have to log in after a wile when you come back to the discussions, there is no "keep me logged in" box to check.

    Hello:
Thank you for the update for remote access for desktops.
Personally, I do not want to give remote access to anyone but myself as privacy is my friend.  Can this remote desktop software still be for me personally unless I allow access and for my MAC lap top only?  What if I do not update? I do use this lap top in other countries.  compatibility issues with what?

Apple Remote Desktop is off be default. It has to be enabled for some one to be able to remotely connect to the computer. And then, you still have to have a user name and password on the computer to remotely connect with.
If you want to see if remote access has is enabled for Apple Remote Desktop; you can find the setting in, Apple Menu, System Prefrences, Sharing. If it's enabled, Remote Management or Screen Sharing will be checked.
Beucase Apple Remote Desktop Agent is part of the Mac Operating System; even if your not using it, Apple Software Updates will from time to time offer updates for ARD Agent. Software Updates can some times be stacked ontop of each other; so chosing not to install an update, can mean other updates you may want may not be offered. At least until you install the updates those updates require. Also software updates can improve the security of your computer.

  • Is there a remote desktop software included in OSX?

I have an RDP, but I need a client to run it. Is there a remote desktop software included in OSX?
    Thanks!

I think I've found the answer to my question. I had to download the remote client from Microsoft to access the Windows Server VM.

    Dear Moderator,
Please provide an example of links for above mentioned software that you will not consider as an advertisement.
This will help me better understand your point of view and at the same time it will provide users with all information they may need about mentioned above Remote Desktop software, such as: short description, documentation, screenshots, download links and prices.

  • Is there Remote Desktop Software for Lion?

I have been using RDC 2.1.1 to connect to my PC at work. However, after an Exchange server upgrade, it doesn't work anymore. I went looking for a newer version and could only find versions compatible with iOS devices, not computers. Then I looked at Apple discussions under RDC (which I cannot find now) and saw that someone recommended CoRD as not only free (RDC apparently now has a charge) but also better than RDC. I downloaded it but cannot figure out how to connect because it does not seem to have any input areas for usernames, passwords, etc. It's pretty darn bare. Can someone tell me what to do with it?
On another discussion, someone recommended Software Update to get a newer version of the RDC. But when I open RDC, there is no software update option. Unless the person meant Apple's software update, in which case it would have done that automatically during one of the regular updates.
I'm running the latest version of Lion on an iMac.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac shouldn't be affected by an Exchange server upgrade in any way. If RDC no longer connects to your work system, then your network adminstrators have probably made a change to your network, perhaps to a firewall, and you'll need to sort it out with them. RDC 2.1.1 works on my system, though I find it slower than other options for connecting to Windows systems. RDC 2.1.1 is the latest version available, by the way, and is still free.
If you want to try CoRD, though, information how to set it up can be found it it's Help files. You can also ask for help in the CoRD forum:
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/cord/viewforum.php?f=1
As to Software Update, I think either you or the other person was confused, and was referring to Apple Remote Desktop, a completely different product. You cannot update Microsoft software through Software Update in Mac OS X. n

  • Remote desktop administrator software failed to start

I just upgraded to the new ARD client and now I cannot start Remote Desktop Administrator. It says "The Remote Desktop Administrator software failed to start due to an unexpected error. The remote desktop software may not be installed correctly or the computer may require a restart."
Again, this happened after I install the ARD client update just released by Apple on my MBP 10.5.8.
I need to get ARD Administrator back up and running. How?

This is the most feedback I've ever gotten to any post.
After much trial and error here is the solution I came up with:
    1. follow the instructions in the following link. Most importantly, make sure you follow the instructions on removing the 10.2 clients. I know that's not what we're dealing with here but it is necessary:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2577?viewlocale=en_US
    2. Put the remote desktop Admin app in the trash and empty the trash.
    3. Download and install the ARD 3.2.2 client via the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/appleremotedeskt op322client.html
    4. Reinstall the remote desktop administrative software in the Applications directory. (Actually, what I did was zip the ARD admin app, then trashed the non-zipped app and emptied the trash, then unzipped my zipped ARD Admin app and made sure the app was in the Applications directory. Didn't need to mess with the CD this way.)
    5. Download and install the ARD Admin 3.3 update. It should now recognize that ARD Admin is installed on the computer and update it.
    6. Try to launch the Admin app. It should work now.
I believe these are all the steps. After this I ran software update and it said I had no software to update. It looks as though the ARD Admin updater also updates the client software.

  • HELP!!! remote desktop and time capsule

    Hello!
Could You help me? I have two problems with access to my Time Capsule.
I have wireless network at home based on Time Capsule, with one static IP. I have conected it (wireless) with two iMac's. Me and my girlfriend we have also two macbooks and when we are out of home we want to acces data on our Time Capsule disk. I need access to disk to edit data on it while being long way out of home. Second problem is to access data on our iMac's. I bought Apple Remote Desktop software, it's incredible what it can do . But only when I'm connected to my wireless network LAN. I need to controll my iMac while being out of home. How to configure Time Capsule and ARD to acces disk and control iMac's? Let me remind You that I have one static IP for Time Capsule router WAN. Please help and I would be very very thankful for screenshots of configuraion, I'm newbie in this.
    Thank You very much.
    Kind regards.
    Adam Milwiw-Baron

The subject of connecting via ARD over the internet has been covered many times on these forums, and info on which ports to forward on your router are in the ARD user guide.
See this article: http://www.starklmc.com/ard It should get you started, but you'll need to consult the documentation that came with your Time Capsule on setting up port forwarding correctly.

  • Remote Desktop and Leopard

Hello, I am wondering if I have to upgrade Remote Desktop software to a version higher that 2.2 if I switch from Tiger to Leopard; or can I stay with Remote Desktop 2.2?

We have now got the situation that we can control the server over the VPN using screen sharing from another Leopard Mac but still can't control in the other direction.

  • Remote Desktop Connection using the WRT54GC

I replaced a wired router with a Linksys WRT54GC wireless router. Connected to the wired router was a wireless router configured as an access point. I have 2 laptops and I successfully connected to the Internet from both. I was also able to connect to one of the laptops through the wireless access point using Remote Desktop Connection. The only difference between the configuration with the previous router and the Linksys is that the laptop with the Remote Desktop software (the host) was hard wired. Using the Linksys I can successfully access the Internet from both laptops. I can also get to the host computer over the LAN using Remote Desktop Connection. I CANNOT however access the host computer outside the LAN. I configured the router correctly using port forwarding and a 3389 port. I checked "enabled" and entered the IP Address of the host laptop (the one with the Remote Desktop Function). I disabled all security in the router. I have a dynamic address through dyndns.org and have setup the DNS portion of the router accordingly. Can you explain why I can no longer access my home computer remotely using Remote Desktop with the Linksys.

Are you able to access Remote Desktop Connection directly connecting to the modem.

  • Can connect to VPN but not Remote Desktop

I hope I've go this post on the right section.
My current OS is Snow Leopard and I've been trying to connect to my work computer. I'm able to successfully connect to our intranet via VPN using a Nortel client, bust I just can't seem to connect to my work compy.
I have downloaded Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac v 2.0.1 and it keeps telling me that it can't find my work computer. I also tried CoRD v0.5.2 and this can't find my work compy either.
I have a PC running Win XP, and this one can connect to my work compy no problem - so I know it's not my home network/router that's causing the problem. It's either something to do with my settings or the Remote Desktop clients that I have.
    Can someone please help me?
    =(

Are you trying to connect to your computer by its name or IP address? If you’re using its name, use the IP address. If you are using the computer you find the problem is your DNS is not able to resolve the name to IP.
Once you have connected to the company VPN, when you fire up remote desktop software use the IP address of the computer you want to connect to.

  • How can I get Apple Remote Desktop to disappear from my App Store updates list?

My Apple Remote Desktop software shows up in my App Store updates list.  But I have already updated it to version 3.6.1 and it shows as "Installed".  It is greyed out and will not go away.  Any ideas on how to make it disappear is most appreciated.

All the suggestions I have read have not worked for me.
    But you can try:
Running Software Update from the Apple Menu
Logging in to the Mac App Store with the account that purchased ARD
Deleting various Apple Store .plist files
NB I haven't tried removind ARD and reinstalling.

  • Least CPU Usage- Real Monitor or Apple Remote Desktop

    Hello,
What would require the least processing power of a Mac Pro; a 24 inch monitor run via a DVI cable or the same image accessed via Apple Remote Desktop software and displaying the screen on another Mac? Here is the rest of the story...
I am designing a home video surveillance system built around a Mac Pro and SecuritySpy. It will coordinate 12 network cameras (HD quality) and the potential load of the cameras alone will be huge. My goal is to place the Mac Pro in a locked network closet and administer it remotely. I can either go the Apple Remote Desktop route or have the monitor signal sent via an ethernet adapter, but the aim is to tax the CPU the least.
    So, what are your thoughts?
“Technological change is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal.” (Albert Einstein, 1941),
    Dr. Z.

    Hatter,
Well, the network closet will indeed have it's own dedicated air conditioning unit, so the heat issue should be addressed. However, initial calculations with the possibility of capturing twelve 0.8 Megapixel H.264 video streams at the same time would cripple any current Mac Mini model. Only a 2.93 GHz 12-core Mac Pro could handle this kind of load, and even then, at only 6 frames per second. Obviously I am very anxious to see what Apple will release with it's next line of Mac Pro's (if they don't kill firther production as rumored). I might also be interested in a Mac Mini cluster, but that would cost even more money in the long run.
So, back to my original question. Anyone?
    More microchiops than sense,
    Dr. Z.

  • Apple Remote Desktop Errors on Application Startup.

I'm having an issue with Apple Remote Desktop 3.2.1 on OSX 10.6.8  basicly the software installes correctly to all defaults.  But when i go to start the Application I get an error "The Remote Desktop Administrator Software Failed to start due to and unexpected error.  The remote Desktop Software may not be installed correclty or the computer may reguire a restart."  Ok some background info on the issue.   I restarted the mac (start with the easy stuff first right)  this did not fix the issue.  I then reinstalled the application.  This did not fix the issue.
So know I'm here looking for more options.

Don't worry. you can get it working NOW!!!
Apparently you can get the current version of ARD up and running on MacBooks. For more details see this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=405454&tstart=60
To save you the trouble of reading all the replies, here is a quote from "gmsmith" which seems to be the solution:
    1. Delete or move the folder /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement - you'll need to be root to do this.
    2. Launch Remote Desktop Admin. It ran through a quick install process and re-created the /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement folder. The admin then closed on my machine.
    3. Re-open the ARD admin, and it should work.
Note: he refers to the fact that you need to be "root to do this." If you do not know what this means, look in apple support for articles on "root user" or "authenticating as root". I haven't done the search myself, but it should be easy to find. Or just post a topic asking how to "log in to your mac as the root user". Basically, the "root user" has god like privileges to delete files on your mac, and is actually a higher level user than admin accounts set up when you first configed your mac
