Remote DVR is nNot Showing on FIOS TV Central

Remote DVR is not Showing on FIOS TV Central, but in the DVR it is showing it as enabled. The DVR is showing on FIOS TV Central, but the Remote DVR is not showing on the side bar menu. I have the default settings on the Verizon supplied Actiontec router. I have reset the router and the DVR. When this feature was first enabled, my account was messed up and HM-DVR was added. HM-DVR has since been disabled, and removed from my account, but should not be required for this feature. Any ideas?

  • STB not responding to FIOS TV Central

    Hi all,
Sorry if this is dupeage but I did a quick search and didn't find anything.
I just installed a new DVR which replaced a SD STB. I've actived remote DVR pn the box and FIOS TV central sees it but says that it is not resonding. I am unable to access the box from FIOS TV central.
The last time I activated a DVR it took a few days for it to respond but it's been about a week or more now.
    Any ideas?
    TIA.

I just enabled my remote DVR last night.  I was told by a tech that after it is enabled you have to run the self diagnostic to see if the box connects to the network or whatever by verifying that "Listener 1 or 2" comes up.  You get there by going to menu - Help and Self Diagnostic and run the test.  I am still trying to get my second DVR remotely connected though.

  • Home Media (MR) Feature No Longer Required for Remote DVR Support

I just found out that, effective today (or maybe yesterday) you can now activate Remove DVR programming capability through the FiOS TV Central website without have the multi-room feature. I do not have the multi-room support on my DVR and just logged into TV Central, sure enough it offered me the option to set up remote support, which will take 24-48 hours to be actived. I of course accepted, have received the confirmation email, now waiting for the 24-48 hour time to expire so I can use it.
    Thanks Verizon!

I also signed up . This is great!!!  Does anyone know what the url is to get into it? I logged on into it through the email they sent me to try it andit works great. I can't get into my email at work though but I am sure I can access this feature. I'm having trouble finding it on the my account page. What am I missing?
I log in through My Verizon: http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/Default.aspx
When I click on My Set Top Boxes and then click on the DVR icon I now see the status of the DVR plus I can click on the bullet below to see the current recordings, etc.
And now, I just found a new enhancement, at least for me: I can now go in and rename my boxes. Some people had had that capability before, I have never had it, but now I do.
One more time, good job Verizon! (and I am sure some people will  say, "about time!")

  • FIOS mobile remote dvr manager doesnt work on my tablet

Can anyone explain to me why the fios mobile remote DVR  manager won't work on my Nexus 10, claiming that my user ID or password isn't recognized when I know its the correct username and password?  The remote control part works just fine, and I'm on my in home wifi as provided by my verizon supplied router.  My Galaxy Nexus has no problem at all with a mobile remote and DVR manager.  It seems to me, that if the thing more or less works you should at least be able to login regardless of which Android platform I'm running it on.

You might want to contact the developers of the application directly for your question. You can also try the Verizon Residential Forum http://forum.verizon.com to ask the other users of the DVR manager.

  • Another Remote DVR "STB Not Responding" Issue

I've had my FIOS install for a couple weeks now and 3-4 days ago tried to activate the Remote DVR feature. In all other respects my system is working fine. I can login to the FIOS TV Central page, see my STB in the listing, it shows that Remote DVR is enabled.
My STB works fine, records, has the guide, widgets, etc.
My computer network is also working fine. STB shows in my router control software, has a static IP (which does match the IP in the STB settings).
But no matter what I do, the TV Central site will always error with a "Set Top Box is not responding"
I've turned on and off the feature on the STB but that did not make any difference. I see in my router that there are 8 non-editable Port Forwarding rules set up, all identical.

Any thoughts here? Reading through the forums it would appear this is a somewhat common and finicky issue. Lots of folks see it and it "magically" gets better, or worse, or flip flops between.

The connection between your DVR and one of Verizon's Servers sometimes 'breaks', and in my experience, cycling the router and/or the DVR won't help. The connection needs to be reset from the Verizon end. If you call or use chat to the service people, they can usually fix it while you are online with them.
It doesn't involves wiping out anything on your DVR.
I went through this a couple weeks ago. Everything except worked, except for online, it always says the unit was not responding. I think I waited about a week before I finally ask Verizon to fix it.

  • Remote DVR not working

I have the multi-room DVR. When I go to Remote DVR on the site and choose Scheduled Programs, it says "Bad Gateway". Going to Recorded Show just says the set top box is not responding. I confirmed the box is powered on and working normally. Can anyone assist?

I had the same issue.  And I'm experiencing frequent picture blackouts.  I can hear the TV, just no picture.  So far, I've been able to shut everything down and restart FIOs TV to get the picture back.  But this is starting to get very annoying.

  • Is Remote DVR real of fictional?

    Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me get my remote DVR access to work. I've searched the forums and it seems that every Remote DVR post ends without a real solution. And the Fios website is so unintuitive, that it's practically useless regarding help for the DVR setup. I'm beginning to wonder if this new feature is really usable!
Here's my situation. I set up my remote DVR online. I received an email confirmation "congratulating" me on the successful activation. I log on to  https://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/ and click on "my set-top boxes." It says my box is "remote DVR enabled" and even shows the current drive space recording time. So far, so good.
But when I click on the "DVR" button, it just brings me back to homepage. Is clicking on the "DVR" button how you are supposed to tape shows remotely. Or, am I missing something? I was assuming there would be a giant "Remotely Program your DVR NOW" button or something obvious. But since I don't see anything like that, I tried clicking on the "DVR" button. No luck. When I click on "Favorites," it also brings me back to the homepage.
My set-top box is obviously being recognized, but I just can't seem to find out how to actually use the remote DVR function.
When I was Googling for solutions, I saw that having a second router could cause Remote DVR not to work. I'm on a Mac and I have an Airport. Could that be the cause of all my problems? I was doubting it since on the Verizon website, it clearly says that my set-top box is "DVR enabled." I would think you wouldn't even get that far if you had a router issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

    Solved!

Hey Redfran, glad it is now working!
I have never understood why I needed to click on one of the radio buttons, but I have always used .net because that is where my email address is, guess I will try .com and see if it makes any difference for me.
FWIW, my guess would be that rebooting the DVR fixed the problem; since you didn't see the remote dvr before and now do see it, that suggests to me that the the activation had not been fully completed. But then what do I know......
    See, FiOS isn't so bad

  • Web Remote DVR with two set-top boxes

I'd like to access one or both of the two DVRs I have from the web so I can setup recordings when I am not at home.   When I login to FIOS TV Central it recognizes my two QIP6416 HD DVRs.  However, If I go to TV listings I do not get any option to record.     I think it is because I have two DVR boxes and it does not know how to handle more than one.
If at the TV remote control I do a MENU button > Settings on the TV I see "FIOS TV Remote DVR" as an option on one of the DVR's but I do not see that option on the other DVR which makes me wonder if they should both have the option.   Maybe if they both don't have the option then it is not activated.
Also, if at the TV remote control I do a MENU button > Settings > FIOS TV Remote DVR > Web Access, press OK to enter Parental Control PIN.... it says "Status:  Not Activated.   To access the web site, go to http://www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral/   LoginID: <my login id> (verizon.net)    Confirmation Code: <9999999999>"   I can't figure out how to use that confirmation code for web access.  Maybe that could activate it.   Don't see anything on fios tv central that asks for it.
Any help on these issues would be much appreciated.     I've been through verizon tech support three times now and haven't gotten a solution.   They have remoted into my laptop to see what I see and do not have a solution.   They are escalating it at this point.

You're going to need to describe what cables you have where a bit more clearly ...
    - Do you have a cable on the porch?  If so, where does the other end of it go?  Is it presently connected to anything?
    - The connection to the TV in the bedroom, where does the other end of that cable go?  Is it presently connected to anything?
    - There should be a box installed somewere on your house called an ONT (it's where the fiber terminates from Verizon and is converted into the cable and phone line).    The cable that comes out of that box (the coax, not the fiber), where does that run to?  Is it presently connected to anything?

  • Missing device name when scheduling recording on remote DVR

    Just an observation:
Prior to the new release, when on my 2500, I schedule a recording on the [remote] DVR, it used to say "DVR Alert" And then show the name of the DVR device. Now it no longer displays the name of the DVR. It just says "Recond on" (no name).
Come to think of it, the name is also missing (chedule on") when I schedule the recording too.
It's not a big deal, since I only have on DVR, but it is annoying.
Also, when you stop a recording (on a remote DVR), wan't an option to delete it presented (at the time)? I thought this was the way it worked, now it's a two step process (have to go back to DVR menu). Maybe it's only when on the DVR?
    Eric

    Hello Eric,
You are correct. With the new update, stopping a recording in progress no longer brings up the "Delete Recording?" option. This goes for the remote boxes and main DVR.

  • No Remote DVR After Router Reset

Remote DVR was working fine,  then after router reset it no longer works.

One other thing you can try.
    Unplug the dvr from power
    Power cycle the router
Once the router comes back up, then plug the DVR back in
When the DVR boots back up, supposedly the rules for the remote dvr will be reloaded into the router. Sounds strange but I've been told it works.

  • Unable to activate remote DVR

I apologize for starting a new thread about a solved issue, however I have been unable to get anyone in customer support to fix my problem. I am unable to use the remote DVR feature on FIOS TV Central. When I sign in, I can view TV listings, and both of my STBs are listed in the My-STBs link, however I am never given an option to enter my confirmation code from my DVR into the website to activate it for use with the remote DVR feature. Here is the link to the "Solved" Thread.
    Thanks in advance.

bump, Spent an hour on the phone with a verizon Tech who wasn't able to solve my problem because they STILL haven't received training on the feature . He transferred me to billing, where I sat on hold for ~30 mins only to end up with Pennsylvania Billing (I am in Texas), so now I'm on hold waiting for Texas billing, who won't solve my problem because I know I have the required Home Media DVR. I know employees on this forum have fixed this problem before. Please Help!
Ended up with California this time - maybe the third time is the charm...

  • Remote DVR from Web - add users?

When I log into the FiOS TV Central site, I can use the Remote DVR function.  Is thehre a way I can add a secondary user so my wife or kids can log in to use the Remote DVR and not be on the main account name?  Also would be great if I can un check a box so they can't make changes to any of the plan (i.e. changing the cell phone plan, adding a mov channel, etc.).
    Thnkas,
    Tom

AFAIK there can only be 1 login to the MyVerizon or FiOS TVCentral account.

  • Remote DVR will not work?

I signed up for FIOS when it first came to my area. Verizon installed a basic Netgear router. I since upgraded to a wireless Netgear router about 4 years ago. We just upgraded our DVR to a Home Media and tried to turn on the remote DVR. But when I go to the web site it says remote DVR will not work without original Verizon router. I don't understand why it won't work. Is there a setting or something in the router to make it work or do I need a different router that Verizon has to provide? I am guessing the original router I had wouldn't work either because it is the same brand as the one I have now.

Called and got a Westell router today. Got it all hooked up and internet and TV are working fine but I still can't activate remote DVR. The DVR has an access code listed, tells me to go to the website and sign in with my verizon.net id. I do and I still get the error remote DVR not possible with third party router. Any more help?

  • Is router reset really required for Remote DVR use?

I am a new FiOS TV customer, but have been on FiOS internet for a couple of years.
I signed up for the Remote DVR service -- it seems to have some nice features with web access.  I then received an email from Verizon advising me that before the Remote service could be activated, I had to RESET my ActionTec router to factory defaults.
I have made several changes to the defaults to accomodate my home network requirements -- settings which I would prefer not to change!
Does anyone know which specific parameters/settings Verizon is looking for which, if set to the default values, would allow the Renote DVR service to work (or at least pass the remote test Verizon does before allowing service to be activated)?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't know what settings Verizon may care about, but I can tell you that I activated the Remote DVR service and I did not do a thing to my router beforehand. It all just worked, although occasionally I do get an error message saying it can't contact the DVR, but if I wait a while it almost always works the next time. I do have some customization, but maybe not in the area the Remote DVR service might depend on, such as changing the IP range, using fixed IP addresses instead of DHCP, port usage, etc (I don't know that it depends on any or all of these, or lthers, just speculating).
Remote test that Verizon does before activating? If they did that to mine I wasn't aware of it.
Have you tried to just use it and it not work? Or maybe they have changed the procedure since I got it.
Hope you get it working. I have found it very useful at times.

  • Remote DVR on non-verizon router

I got mine to work!!!  Just wanted to share my success story
We have verizon fios.  We wanted to use our cisco router for vpn since this was not available on the verizon-provided fios router.
    1.  our own router was connected to the ONT (optical network terminal).  This provided DHCP service
    2.  the verizon router (Actiontec) was behind our Cisco router, in bridge mode.  We connected the COAX cable to the verizon router.  We did a patch cable between the Cisco router and the verizon router in bridge mode (note, no x-over cable necessary)
We were able to access the internet from our TV but unable to use remove DVR.
    3.  We did port forwarding.  UDP 63145 and pointed toward the IP address of the main DVR.  We unplugged the power cord (turning off was not enough) and voila!!!  We now have remote DVR functioning just fine.

Not clear by your question regarding "walk through" as I am a non-IT guy.   I only made two modifications on Verizon Actiontec: put router on bridge mode, and turn off DHCP service.  When I first started, I had a hard time navigating through the menus of the verizon router.  Then, I just simply reset and did the above two modifications-- can be found on the network connection option.  Then it worked, without the remote DVR function.  I am not sure if the Verizon service UDP 63145 port forwarding on my Cisco router to the main DVR's IP address is necessary.  However, after the port forwarding and the unplugging, it worked.
