Remote Files not showing in files window

DW 8.0.2, WinXP, Ubuntu Linux server, FTP
All was working fine for the past few months and earlier
today. Now, I can connect via FTP to my Ubuntu web server but the
remote files are not showing up and thus synchronization is not
working (I can PUT, but not GET). Everything shows up fine in
Filezilla. DW FTP log shows activity, including listing the
folders, but still nothing shows in the remote view. AFAIK, nothing
on the server changed (I asked) and this happened while working in
DW...one minute all is fine, the next it was not working.
Because sync stopped working (it wants to upload ALL files
ALL the time because it does not see Remote files) I tried the
troubleshooting thing of disabling sync, exiting, restarting,
enabling sync, attempting a sync, etc, but now the xml file (in
_notes folder) will not come back. What ths heck is going on?!?
So far I've tried:
- Exit and restart DW
- Reboot PC
- Restart FTP service (though I doubt that's the problem
since it works fine with Filezilla)
- The troublshooting for sync issues
- Re-install 8.0.2 update (can't reinstall all of DW right
now because the disks are at home)
- Creating a new site
- Mucking with the FTP settings (currently using passive FTP
with sync turned on...all other setting are the usual)
I plan to try a reinstall of DW tonight. Any help is
appreciated!

Wow...not a single response. Anyway, problem solved. Turns
out a server restart restored the remote view. This was after an
FTP service restart did not fix it. Weird in any case because
"regular" FTP worked fine, just not in Dreamweaver.

I have users who are having issues seeing .png files when using a windows VM. This is a windows environment. The business partner is using a Mac pro and creates the .png file in creative suite and saves the file to a windows 2008 server. When they try to insert the file into a powerpoint on their Windows 7 VM, they cannot find the file. It shows up about 10-15 mins later. But they can access it from the Mac right away. We are running Extremez IP on the server. Is this a known issue with this OS/macs in windows environment/extremez IP?

Hi everyone. I'm having trouble with Windows Search on my Windows 7 Home Premium.
Through the start menu search box, I can find some but not all files. Programs almost always show up, but it's very hit or miss on files for music, documents, photos, or email messages (Windows Live Mail). It seems like it's more likely to show up if
I have recently modified the file. Also, in Windows Explorer while browsing files I can see the files in the window but if I type the name into the search box in the corner, it says that file doesn't exist in the folder, which makes no sense because it is
obviously right there.
So far, I've run the Searching And Indexing Troubleshooter and rebuilt my search indexes multiple times. It says I have 874 items indexed. Is that number particularily high or low? I don't really know, as it may be the source of my problems. Both of
these solutions haven't yielded any results. Any help would be great!

Based on my research,
I suggest you perform the following steps.
1. Rebuild Windows Search to index via the following article:
force Windows
Search to index
2. Type “services.msc” in Search box and press Enter. Double click Windows Search service and click Stop. Then, please restart the service and assure
the Startup Type is Automatic.
3. Perform a
Clean Boot to check the result.

PDF files not showing in Safari Windows

When clicking on a link to a pdf file (example: <a href = 'xxx.pdf'>
I get a blank window.
Have Acrobat Pro, latest version installed.
Is there a special process to install it in Safari? (Windows)
Note: there is a Plugins folder in the Safari app folder, but inside it there iare only two Java plugins.
Maybe the reader is not installed in Safari, if not, how would I install the reader for Safari Windows only?

Open/Save Dialog does not show new files?

Say you are working on a logic file in a folder and you have
a few audio and movie files in that folder, and you launch
Logic and via the open/save dialog window you add a few
files to your song and in that dialog window you can see
all the files in that folder.
Then, in the Finder you add a few more files and movies to
that folder and again use the open/save dialog window to
add more files BUT the new files you added since launching
logic are NOT SHOWN in the dialog window ! ?
What's the deal with that?
Every other app can show files added since the launch of the
application, why not Logic?

um, yeah.
Should not need the project manager simply to see new files added to a directory in a Open/Save dialog window since last opening the app.
I did a scan, a extended scan, opened all the little turn down arrows of the
full path to the directory I knew there to be the new files and yes, Logic
shows them there in the "Project manager".
BUT Logic still does not show the files in the Open/Save dialog windows.
This is strange because even simple app like TextEdit can show
new files in it's Open/Save dialog function windows without the need of
a project manager.
I have to quit and re-launch each time to see any new files?

so i plugged in my ipod and it asked if i wanted to backup the files before restoring it.
Do you mean iTunes asked if you wanted to backup files before restoring? If so the it is in the location I posted. You don't need to navigate to the backup. Once your restore your iPod it will ask if you want to restore from a backup and present you with the backups made before hand.
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:
-Click the File menu and select Devices > Restore from Back up.

-Open the iOS device's Summary tab. There are two ways to access this:
-Click the device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper right corner. The device button will then be visible.)
-From any view in iTunes, click the View menu and select Show Sidebar. Select your iOS device in iTunes under Devices.
-Click the Restore Backup button.

I have many photos on my new MacBook Pro, but when I try to "attach" them to emails, they are not showing up in the listing. I am a new Mac user, but so I don't know how to explain this. If this was a PC, it would be like files not showing up under "My Computer." PhotoBooth photos are listed though. Why is this?

a lot of these USB disks are garbage. Remove the hard disk from the case and connect it to an available desktop which will be able to read the disk.
the cheap usb controllers are often the cause of the problem

Some files not showing anymore in folders on smb-share (lc_ctype error)

I use a shared folder on my iMac for my work projects.
After the upgrade to Mavericks, I noticed that Dreamweaver CS 6 did not show all files and folders anymore in several projects.
This is on a Windows 7 machine.
The same thing happens when in FileZilla, so it's not a specific Dreamweaver issue.
When I go to a troubled folder in FileZilla I get this error (in Dutch):
"Een lokale bestandsnaam kon niet gedecodeerd worden. Zorg ervoor dat de LC_CTYPE (of LC_ALL)-omgevingsvariable juist is ingesteld. Totdat u het probleem oplost, kunnen er bestanden ontbreken in de bestandslijsten. Er zal geen waarschuwing meer getoond worden gedurende deze sessie."
Translation:
"A local file could not be decoded. Ensure that the LC_CTYPE (or LC_ALL) environment variable is set. Until you solve the problem, you are missing files in the file list. There will be no warning displayed during this session properly."
When I go to thew same folder in Windows Explorer all files are shown.
When I use Dreamweaver CS6 on the iMac no errors occur and every file just shows fine.
It seems it only occurs in random directories of the local files of website projects I maintain with Dreamweaver
If anyone ones how to fix this, I would realy REALY appreciate this.

This sounds you are not viewing the PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer instead of Adobe Reader (Firefox or Chrome).

i had the Ex HD for about 3 years running smoothly on my mac but recently everything disappeared. plunged it into a pc to see if it read my files and it did. what can i do? to make it work on mac again. i don't want to reformat that drive because i have important applications (DMG) and other zip photo video files in the drive.

...i have tried "verify" & "repair" but they didn't pass the san test. and when i "unmounted/mount" a error message popped up say that there is a application running off the drive but there nothing (i see) running, to close all activity

File not showing in SharePoint (IE) but visible in Explorer

I have a document library that has a single file not showing up that I can't seem to track down. I am hoping someone here might be able to offer something I haven't thought of.
The document library is very much 'stock'. Verisioning is turned on and minor revisions aren't viewable to folks without edit rights. I am the admin with full control to everything - as is the user this initially impacted. The file will show
in the Explorer view - but isn't viewable in an 'all files' file via the browser or when attempting to open via Excel. If we provide the full path/file it does open successfully in Excel and offer the Check Out option - but it won't show up
in the 'File Open' dialog.
I thought at first it might be a matter of not having a version checked in - but it isn't showing under "Manage files which have no checked in version" menu. I've gone through the various SharePoint view options and can't find anything there either.
What would make a single Excel file in such an ordinary document library not be visible to users with full control rights? We have roughly 80k files stored in SharePoint overall - so please don't read this as being our initial test of SharePoint.
I'd really appreciate any ideas...

Just to add a few more details. I have been able to add the file to a different library and they uploaded fine. The library in question is created off of a template and has 2 metadata fields. The fields are also being used in the other library, but that
was created from a different template.
The site and initial 4 libraries were created from a site template and then the library was added from a different library template. Checking ULS logs now, but doubtful I will find anything.

CS3: Bridge does not show dng-files

First it started to refuses to show NEF files, and now, it will not show dng files - or at least some of my dng files.

CS3 is known for being the worst version of Bridge with very strange behavior. Might be preferences or cache related or some other strange reason. Fact is that using old software for new digital cameras has the only advantage as being cheap. You do miss a lot of functions, options and especially quality for developing your Raw files. CS6 has a complete new Raw process version called 2012. And since you use CS3 you still will be at process 2003 and already missed process version 2010.
So you seriously should consider buying CS6 ( you missed the option for an upgrade since this was shut down per december last year due to new upgrade policy) if you want to get the most out of your expensive new dSLR
