  • Site Definition - local info, remote info confusion

    Hi,
I am new to DW CS4, but doing well getting to know it.
In the Site Definition dialog, Advanced Tab:
    Local Info:
Links relative to document is selected.
-- HTTP address -- I'm not quite sure which of the following to use:
http:/www.johnblaustein.com --  this is my site
http://johnblaustein.com/var/www/html/ -- this is the folder on the server that stores the site.
Remote Info -- set as follows -- which works fine to connect:
    Access: FTP
    FTP host: johnblaustein.com
    Host directory: /var/www/html
QUESTION:  On the Local Info Tab, which of the above two addresses do I use?  I think I simpy use http:/www.johnblaustein.com, but I am not sure.  Also, do I need the "www"?
    Thank you.
    John

Yes, that's kind of what I thought, but I wasn't sure.  The /var folder is not visible on the web.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

  • How to enter/edit Remote Info Settings???

I have just opened Dreamweaver CS5 for the first time and, to my dismay, I cannot find the Remote Info settings window anywhere. When I select Manage Sites, the Local section is there, but Remote is nowhere to be found. Help!

    From this help document -
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSee8adad8a8c1990b-6cb1a36e1266d204f20-80 00.html
    Set options for FTP connections
Use this setting if you connect to your web server using FTP.
    Select Site > Manage Sites.
Click New to set up a new site, or select an existing Dreamweaver site and click Edit.
In the Site Setup dialog box, select the Servers category and do one of the following:
Click the Add New Server button to add a new server
Select an existing server and click the Edit Existing Server button

  • Error clears remote info

Dreamweaver sometimes says something to the tune of "index
not found in site" and then clears my remote info. Wtf?

They should look in their own tech articles. I had the same problem and this solved it:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93061
With one caveat. The article talks about creating a shared folder in the Users folder, but I could not create it there even with Admin permissions. However, I could create it somewhere else and paste it into the users folder, the change the permissions.
Makes no sense, but seems to solve the problem!

  • Site Definition issues when entering remote info in DWcs3

    good day,
I am hoping someone can assist me with getting one of my new sites up and running. I am still on Dreamweaver CS3 as my hard drive at thsi time can not support hte size of CS4. I have created a new website for a friend of mine and she has provided me what information she has from her service provider, however when i enter the information and test the connection i get an error telling me an FTP error occurred.  My friend is using 1&1.com, i have never heard of them before but have gotten a domain name, a directory file name, a username, and a password from them.  below are picutres of the error and what i am entering to try and upload the site:
could someone or would someone be able to help me out -  i would be eternally grateful!

Host Directory is the location on the server where your files will be stored.
This will not be plain text with a space as you have entered. It will be a folder name provided by the host - or it may be blank.
The FAQs at 1&1 suggests that no host directory info is required:
    http://faq.1and1.com/web_space__access/ftp_account/dreamweaver_guide/3.html
(Note: the above FAQ is incorrect in that it directs people to set up a remote site via New > FTP & RDS Server which is rarely the case.
The usual route is New > Site.)
    http://faq.1and1.com/web_space__access/ftp_account/3.html
Also, uncheck the Use Firewall box.

  • Remote info not saved

I am using DW8. I enter the remote server username and
password. The program automatically checks the save box. I click
    ok.
However, when I close DW and then open it again the server
    username and password is blank.
This does not happen with all of my webs. What's up?

  • 10.5.4 problem, Apple remote desktop - login window

Since the update to 10.5.4 I noticed two problems (probably not related):
    1. in system.log, many lines about ARD
Jul 1 14:28:49 ekPB com.apple.launchd[376] (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent[1859]): Did not die after sending SIGKILL 2910 seconds ago...
    etc. every 5 seconds
    Finally ends with
Jul 1 14:30:08 ekPB ReportCrash[2050]: Formulating crash report for process ARDAgent[915]
Jul 1 14:30:09 ekPB com.apple.launchd[376] (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent[1859]): Exited abnormally: Bus error
Jul 1 14:30:09 ekPB com.apple.launchd[265] (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.agent[915]): Exited abnormally: Bus error
Jul 1 14:30:09 ekPB ARDAgent [2051]: ******ARDAgent Launched******
    Jul 1 14:30:09 ekPB ReportCrash[2050]: Saved crashreport to /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ARDAgent2008-07-01-143004ekPB.crash using uid: 0 gid: 0, euid: 0 egid: 0
    Never had this before 10.5.4
    ARD is of course activated...
    2. The machine normally operating under my administrator account (and connected to a FireWire disk used by Time Machine), at two different moments, coming back, I find my machine showing the LOGIN window ...
    in System.log:
    Jul 1 11:16:12 ekPB loginwindow[407]: DEAD_PROCESS: 0 console
Jul 1 11:16:13 ekPB /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[1362]: Login Window Application Started
Jul 1 11:16:17 ekPB loginwindow[1362]: Login Window Started Security Agent
    and
    Jul 1 13:39:58 ekPB loginwindow[1362]: DEAD_PROCESS: 0 console
Jul 1 13:39:58 ekPB /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[1856]: Login Window Application Started
Jul 1 13:39:59 ekPB loginwindow[1856]: Login Window Started Security Agent
New login is normal and I don't find any reason to justify the end of the sessions of the connected user.
    Any Ideas ? Thanks !
MacBook Pro core 2 Duo 2,33 GHZ 3 GB, 160 MB disk, Leopard 10.5.4 connected to ADSL by modem and Airport Extreme (last update 5.3.2 done)

    Greetings...
Haven't found a similar thread yet, but if there is, my apologies. I have the same problem with the login, and I can't seem to fix it with a reboot. I have ran disk utilities as well as trying to get in through a remote computer. Any ideas/fixes besides reinstalling to 10.5.3 would be of a huge assistance.

  • Remote Computers login

Hi people, at work I have a Mac Pro, at home I have an iMac, and I also use a Time Machine, now, I will like to remote login from work to home, and yes, I have enable Remote Login, from system preferences, but I still cant login, so what can I do?, any suggestions?
    Thanks!!
    CristV

I have this sinking feeling that when you said *Remote Login* you did not mean using using Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal and the ssh command to remotely login so you can execute command lines commands.
I'm going to discuss ssh usage, but if is not what you had in mind, then please tell us what kind of remote access you desire. I'm sure there is a way to arrange this, including using 75% of the stuff you have already setup. It just might involve enabling some different Sharing features and maybe doing Port Forwarding on different port numbers.
    Now on to ssh
Start Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    Issue the command
    ssh [email protected]
    password:
where username is the short username you are going to login to, and password is that accounts password.
You can do anything from the command line remotely as you can from a local command line.
    ls
    cd different/directory
    etc...
If you just want to copy some files to or from the remote system you can use the scp command (which is part of the ssh package).
    scp [email protected]:/path/to/the/remote/file /local/path/store/it
    scp /local/path/to/get/file [email protected]:/remote/path/to/store/it
Of course using the above ssh session to look for a file may not be as satisfying, so you could create an ssh tunnel that will allow you to securely mount your remote Mac's file system over the network.
First you need to enable the remote Mac's file sharing:
System Preferences -> Sharing -> File Sharing on the remote Mac.
Now you can create an ssh tunnel:
    ssh -L 22548:localhost:548 [email protected]
The -L option says: on the local host setup port 22548 as entrance to the tunnel, and attach the tunnel's remote end to port 548 (which is the standard Mac OS X file sharing port).
Now you can mount the remote file system across the tunnel using
Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server...
    afp://localhost:22548
The performance may be be fantastic, depending on the network speeds.
If you want to see your remote Mac's screen, you can enable that via an ssh tunnel. However, there are other means of implementing screen sharing.
Via ssh you enable the remote Mac's
System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Management
now create an ssh tunnel for screen sharing:
    ssh -L 5922:localhost:5900 [email protected]
The -L option says: on the local host setup port 5922 as entrance to the tunnel, and attach the tunnel's remote end to port 5900 (which is the standard Mac OS X screen sharing port; it is also the standard VNC port number).
NOTE: The ssh command can have multiple -L options establishing as many tunnels as you wish on the same command line. So the same ssh command can setup a file sharing tunnel, as well as a screen sharing tunnel.
Now you can start a screen sharing session using
Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server...
    vnc://localhost:5922
Now there are about half a dozen ways to establish screen sharing that do not include ssh. One approach is to use iChat based Screen Sharing.
First you download and install Chax on the remote Mac
    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28551>
Chax is an add-on to iChat and gives you a new *iChat Preferences Tab*. You can then configure iChat via the Chax tab to automatically accept Screen Sharing request from selected users.
Once the remote Mac's iChat is setup, you can use iChat to start a screen sharing session.
Using iChat/Chax screen sharing setup, you can use iChat to copy files between systems. Just switch to the screen of the system where the file reside, and drag that file to the iChat buddy list on top of the other system's buddy name, and it will be copied to the other system to the Download folder (or whatever folder you configure iChat as the file copy destination). You will need to switch to the other system's screen so you can accept the file transfer, unless you configure the iChat/Chax preference to automatically accept file transfers from selected iChat users.
It is now after midnight, so I'm going to stop here. Hopefully this has been useful. Let us know if you need something difference.

  • Remote VPN logIn using Mac

I was looking for a software package for my MacBook Pro capable of remotely logging into a Windows XP system (place of work)to check email and access to server directories while traveling. I'm the one step child (artist) in the org with a Mac and the IT guys are "working on the problem" so...
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

If your work computer runs XP Professional, the best way is to use Remote Desktop Connection.
Here's a guide on setting RDC up on your host (work) computer:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remoteintro.mspx
And here's the link to download the RDC client for OS X:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/ misc/rdcupdate103.xml&secid=80&ssid=10&flgnosysreq=True
Keep in mind your IT department will have to set up a tunnel from the firewall to your desktop's RDC port for this to work.

  • Open ports needed for remote hd login

what ports should i have open to remotely connect to my AEBS external hard drive??

The following worked for me to access my airdisk via inet
1: Set the AE to bridging modus
2: If you have a firewall active, you have to forward port TCP 548 (afp) to the internal IP address of your AE. You can see the IP in the main screen of the airport utility program. It has the format 192.168.1.xx or 10.1.1.xx.
3: Figure out your external ip address -There's widgets that do that, e.g. iStat Nano-
You can access the airdisk as follows:
    Open finder
Press command-k or select 'Connect to server' from the 'Go' menu.
Type afp://external ip/name of your airdisk
    example: afp://86.354.32.45/MyDisk
    And click connect.
Note: You must be connected to the inet from another location than yours, otherwise it won't connect.
    That's it

  • Solaris Remote Desktop Login to Red Hat 5 Server

We have a number of Sun boxes running Solaris 8 and 9 and we need them to login to a Server running Red Hat 5. Have edited the /etc/hosts file to include the Red Hat hostname and ip address and when I enter the hostname it acts as if it is connecting to it, but then the cursor turns into a watch face and then kicks back to the login screen. Am I missing something minor or major??? Should also state that I can connect no problem to the server using hummingbird from PCs...

We are running SCOM 2012 server and have deployed the agent successfully to a number of Red Hat Linux servers. I am having an issue on about a quarter of the hosts, in that they appear as HEALTHY but are Grayed out and not green. When I look at the /var/opt/microsoft/scx/log/omiserver.log
    file I see:
WARNING: wsman: authentication failed for user scom2012
I have verified that the system account is setup with the correct password and the runas account is setup with the correct password (i am able to deploy the agent from the SCOM server using it, so the passwords DO match).
    Any ideas?
I've seen this on a few systems here when the agent has been upgraded but the old agent process does not die off.  Just to rule it out, pick a node, make sure there are no instances of scxcimserver or scxcimprovagt and then start the agent and
see if the issue goes away.  I've also seen wsman authentication failures related to the libssl issue that was fixed in yesterday's release.

I am trying to capture through SCOM events when specific accounts RDP into servers.  I know it is logon type 3 but the workstation name the session is initiated from is blank.  Is there a specific configuration required to log this information?

IP addresses or workstations are not captured when Remote Desktop are enabled without Network level Authentication.
Run sysdm.cpl to open system properties, select Remote -> Remote Desktop -> Allow Remote Desktop -> Allow connections only from computers running Remote desktop with Network Level Authentication.
    Also you can use
