Remote IP address invalid - not using Leopard, still on Tiger

I am looking for help! I see many solutions for people having this problem who are on Leopard, but my work MAC is still running Tiger and I am now getting this error when someone tries to video chat with me. When I try and video chat with buddies, the error I get back is "Erica (workMAC) did not respond" (Note: Erica (work MAC) is my user name...). I did not have trouble with this previously. The only thing that has changed since the last time I video-chatted is that the static IP address our internet provider assigned to us has been changed, due to recent upgrades to the service in my area. I suspect this is a culprit, but cannot find out how to fix the problem. Suggestions?

The Error 4 refers normally to one end being on Leopard and the problem being at then end.
It is normally seen by the end without the problem.
I have not seen it Tiger to Tiger chats.
As you are on Tiger that does not preclude the others from being on Leopard.
However I would still be interested in the new Internet Service.
I have heard of situations during upgrades where in (Downstream) and out (upstream) data is actually over two routes to maintain speeds.
Effectively the ISP routes you through two IPs in fairly simple terms
This may have something to do with what is going on here.

  • "Remote IP Address Invalid" to one and "Didn't Respond" to the other..

I'm a tiger and the other computer I'm attempting to video iChat with is a leopard.
It has worked before but now out of nowhere we can't video chat.
Every time we try to connect, his will say that I didn't respond and mine will say, mainly, Remote IP Address is Invalid or sometimes, that I didn't respond when clearly I accepted.
Our Internet Sharing is turned off and on the other responses given to similar issues I didn't what the other questions meant so I couldn't understand. I'm not good with computers so you'll have to respond in layman's terms and also tell me where to go to check what's supposed to be on or off, please.

thats the log minus all the binary. Help please i need the video chat to work

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
Tiger or Leopard users can see this Error 4
It refers to the Buddies End.
Your iChat can see that their iChat is connected to the Internet twice.
Connecting via Ethernet and Wifi will do this.
So will have Internet Sharing on in System Preferences Sharing
Running Parallels to run Windows can turn on Internet Sharing and create two VNCs in System Preferences > Network that need turning Off.
It also happens with MIMO Wifi Routing devices.
These "sort of" Split the Wifi Channel into In and Out subchannels which iChat (at their end) sees as two or more connections.
Remember this is their Problem It is at their End.

  • Remote ip address invalid

I just upgraded to Leopard and found this frustration: iChat won't allow video chats unless I turn off internet sharing. When I was on Tiger I started using my airport card to share the internet with my powerbook because I just couldn't seem to get any router to work with certain people on my buddy list. When I instead started sharing the internet connection over airport it just worked great...
What has changed that I can no longer do this in Leopard, and is this considered a bug? Will it be fixed? Does anyone know?
Finally, if it is going to stay this way, is there another way I can share internet in my home without losing the ability to video my distant family?!
Thanks for any and all help.
    cheers

I don't think so as 10.5.2 has just come out and does nothing in this area.
It is a bit like the missing white button to the right of the title bar that can toggle the toolbar iCons On and Off (if it was there) in iChat > Prefernces.
I know it has been asked for but it remains absent.
In this case I think it a definite move to highlight/workaround an issue Apple knew about so that it can at least work on the machines beyond the Mac.
I have just checked in 10.5.2 to share the Internet to my MacBook Pro running in Windows.
Seems it still can not be done.

  • Macbook Keyboard DEAD (not using Leopard)

Several weeks ago my keyboard and trackpad stopped responding on my macbook (which is now out of warranty) but the power button still works. I bought a new topcase and installed it thinking this would fix the problem, it didn't. So last night I backed up all my files and reinstalled Leopard hoping that a fresh install would bring the keyboard back to life, this also did not work. Also noteworthy, I only erased and reinstalled the partition on my hdd for leopard and left windows on its little 10GB sector.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok I tried this but it is actually for Leopard. As the post states that is not my case. I tried to use it anyways and it told me it can not open because I am not running 10.5
Ive come to the conclusion that my logic board may be the problem. The keyboard and trackpad are both not recognized by the system profiler.
The only thing listed under my USB bus is Bluetooth.
I ran the Hardware Check and it found no problems. As a reminder I purchased another top case. (keyboard and trackpad) and nothing was resolved.
Can anyone back me up on the guess that the logic board is toast?

  • Java update (3 days ago) won't let me play yahoo games anymore.  I've tried moving java security to Medium and adding web address as "permissive use".  Still nothing.  I'd really like a fix.   Really, apple?  What's your beef with yahoo games?

Installed Java update three days ago.  Now, can't play yahoo games as it's now blocked by security settings.  Already have tried moving Java security to Medium and adding yahoo.games.com (including web address of game) as a "Permissive exception".   Also tried removing java and installing older version.  Still nothing.  Really Apple?!?  What's your beef with yahoo games?

    csnorth,
all of the older update versions of Java SE 7 can be found here. If 7u45 also didn’t work with your Yahoo! games, you can choose from any of the even older versions there as well.

  • Another Remote IP address invalid

My Fiance and sister are both running Leopard and once in awhile at work I can video chat with them but more often than not I get this error message. My sister is at college and is connected via ethernet and my fiance is connected wirelessly.
My firewall is off, I've changed my quicktime setting for streaming to 1.5, my ichat video preferences to 500, and I changed the ichat port to 413. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PP CS5.5 Will not use numbered still

Hello, I am a bit new to premier pro and have to say I love it. Anyway I'm trying to make a stop motion film. I select “Numbered stills” option and select the photo’s I want which are named 1,2,3,4 act and import them.  When I look at the media it imported it shows only the first image. I thought possibly if I render it and see the end result they will be there but nope. Any ideas? Thanks

First in Premiered Edit > Preferences select STILL IMAGE DEFAULT DURATION   1   Image
Browse the location from where you want to Import sequence of Still Image... Select One Image    CLICK  right  at the bottom of the window      IMAGE SEQUENCE and Import

  • MDT 2012 with Database do not use the OSD* properties

    Greetings,
I use MDT 2012 Update1 with Database to deploy clients. without use SCCM, and without DHCP.
I find that the all the properties in the details settings begin with OSD**, such as "OSDComputerName", "OSDAdapter0Gateways", "OSDAdapter0IPAddressList"
    etc. cannot be used.
for example, if I set the "ComputerName" as "Client1" and set "OSDComputerName" as "Client01" in the database, after the client installed, the client's Computer Name
is set to Client1 but not Client01.
and the client's IP address is not use the value in OSDAdapter0IPAddressList, but use the IP address that in the Boot WinPE begining screen I inputed.
would you please help me in this case.
    Thanks
    Frank@Hiweb 冯立超@瀚博资讯

    Thank you Michael,
Glad to get help from you!
I have according to you guide "Manipulating the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit database using PowerShell" created
a script to bulk input clients settings just now. thank you!
I have a question about IP address, as following:
I use MDT 2012 with Database, without SCCM, without DHCP.
so I must set IP address at the beginning of the WinPE.
thus, the final IP address on the clients is the IP address I set at WinPE boot time, but not the IP address in the Database
    OSDAdapter0AddressList, even I set OSDAdapterCount to 1.
would you please guide me how to correct it.
    Thank you and best regards.

  • Installer not using X11

Just in case anyone is going to try to install 10g on macos remote: The installer is not using X11 as is normal on other unixes. This really is a pain in the ass since now we can't use normal ssh connections but have to go by vpn and tools like timbuktu.
According to oracle support Apple can't use X11 so they made a customized installer. I can hardly believe that.
Who ran the installer over ssh (with x11 tunneling) ? if so, how ?
best regards and a happy new year,
    Ronald

  • Windows File Share not using Correct NIC Interface.

    Hi
I have Windows 2012 R2 server with two 1gb NICs.  I want to use NIC1 for the regular network traffic/Internet and the NIC2 for database traffic.  NIC1 has IP Addresses of 64.141.xxx.xxx (I am not showing the last 6 digits for security reasons)
and 192.168.10.21.  NIC2 has the IP Address of 192.168.11.2.
The Workstation accessing this server also has two NICS.  NIC1 has the IP address of 64.141.xxx.xxx and 192.168.10.22.  NIC2 has the IP Address of 192.168.11.4.
I created a share on the server myDataShare$.  On the Workstation I access the share using \\192.168.11.2\myDataShare$ and everything works accept that the data from the share is sent across NIC1 but I want it to go over NIC2.  If I add static
routes to both machines it makes no difference all network traffic always goes out on NIC1 for both machines.
If look at the status of each NIC on the send and receive bytes only NIC1 show any traffic.  NIC2 is silent.  How do I get traffic for the 192.168.11.0/24 subnet to use NIC2?
The strange thing is that if I ping a 192.168.11.0/24 address it goes over NIC2 but file sharing seems to ignore NIC2 altogether.
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
Windows Vista and later are based on the strong host model. In the strong host model, the host can only send packets on an interface if the interface is assigned the source
IP address of the packet being sent. Also the concept of a primary IP address does not exist.
If the program specifies a source IP address, that IP address is used as the source IP address for connections sourced from that socket and the adapter associated with that
source IP is used as the source interface. The route table is searched but only for routes that can be reached from that source interface.
You can try to set the “skipassource” flag ,by using this flag, the added new addresses are not used for outgoing packets unless explicitly set for use by outgoing packets.

  • REMOTE IP ADDRESS IS INVALID on ichat

Can anyone shed any light on this issue, Before I upgraded to Leopard I had no problems with speaking with my contacts through audio or both audio and visual. Why is is it when I speak with friends I can IM them on ichat but when I send them a conferencing request it says connecting and at there end it says remote ip address is invalid and on my screen comes up with an error. two of my contacts on my list this happens one of my other contacts ichat works fine.
Any help in this matter would be a great.

I haven't changed a thing, all the equipment I use now I used before when the ichat worked perfectly.
I checked out the "leopard" concept, but my other computer the IMAC is older so doesn't use that operating system. And still it blocks me from ichatting with the same people.
Perhaps my leopard is blocking the whole system?
I have a siemens speed stream 4100 and a belkin?
I had called apple help line, but they were no help at all. I had wondered if it had anything to do with the 2 contacts being .mac and not aim. Only because my daughter noticed the aim contacts were fine?

  • Ip remote address invalid

Hey Guys, trying to connect with a friend of mine for the first time today, neither of us has used iChat before. He is on Leopard, i'm on Tiger.
We can text no problem, but we can't video or audio chat.
Keep getting the message IP Remote Address Invalid.
We tried the usual, logging off etc, even reverted to our mobile broadband sticks & still no-go.
    Any ideas????

OK so heres the thing, he has a macbook & an iMac - both new, both running leopard, & he can connect those via, text, vid & audio
But he cant connect to me, running Tiger, so it appears the fault is with me.
My router is a Thompson 735BB6
    I'm on version 3.1.9 (v446)

  • Cannot start iChat with friend - receive error "Invalid remote IP address"

I'm having trouble connecting to iChat with friend. We are both using AIM accounts and click on connect. The other person accepts the invitation and iChat tries to connect. It fails and I receive the error message, "invalid remote IP address". I'm am using Mac OS X Tiger while my friend has Leopard. Does that make a difference? I appreciate any feedback.

The Leopard end should make sure that in System Preferences > Sharing has Internet Sharing Off.
Also they should not be connected to the Internet twice such as Wifi and Ethernet to the same router.
Using Parallels in Leopard causes a similar issue.
In this case turn Off the two VPNs in System Preferences > Network (and set Parallels itself to get it's Own IP and not share the Mac's)
Some MIMO modem or Wifi routers can cause this.
Get a new modem or router is the simple answer to that one.
