Remote Management/ARDAgent

Question

doing a disk permissions verification/repair i get
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
now i did notice a softwre update recently for Remote Management of the mac.....which i installed but i'm not interested in remotely controling my mac.
should i delete and how.
i am having boot issues and most of the time i have to boot holding down the shift key. also time machine is not backing up. i use it manually
and it just mostly circles for hours.
i was wondering if a corruption with Remote Management Connection could be causing the problem.
mac pro (intel) from 2006   running 10.7.4 snow leopard (can't install mountion lion on this computer).
