Remote NEXT button nonfunctional in chapter play list?

I have a submenu where individual chapters can be played. I put each chapter in its own chapter playlist so I can set the desired end-action. This works just fine except that the NEXT button on the remote control for the DVD player does not bring me to the end of the chapter as I would expect. The PREV button does bring me back to the beginning of the chapter, so it's not a case of all buttons being ignored. Perhaps this is "just the way it is" since I've found nothing either pro or con about the subject. Is there a way to make the NEXT button functional when playing a single-chapter CPL?

Thanks Jeff and jbowden, I appreciate your speedy feedback. The Playlist idea won't work for me because most of my chapters in my CPL's are not technically last-chapters where the "magic hidden last chapter" feature would apply. Jeff's suggesstion that this is expected behavior seems to jibe with what I'm seeing. I guess I could have a short (1 or 2 second) timeline with nothing in it; then include this as a second chapter in any CPL where I really want the NEXT button on the remote to work. One last thing...in preview mode clicking the NEXT icon does execute the end-action immediately, which made me presume it would do so on a real DVD player as well.

If you are syncing music with an iTunes library, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the appropriate article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

Remote Menu button: to the chapter menu or the main menu?

Using DVD Pro (version 4.2.1) for the first time, and I've discovered a lot of fun elements. Here is a question about the remote control settings.
I want people to be able to return to the +main menu+ if they want while playing the track, by pressing 'menu' (and I've found the resume feature, too). However, the track has chapters, which are assigned to 3 chapter menus. So, when they are playing a particular chapter, i want them to be able to return from it to the +chapter menu+ it came from, by pressing the 'menu' button.
However, this doesn't work: when playing the video track, pressing the 'menu' button takes me to the chapter menu assigned to that particular chapter, not the main menu that I assigned to the track.
Well, I see in the handbook that the marker remote setting takes precedence over the track setting ... so which would you find preferable:
1. when the viewer is playing the video, the menu button: goes back to the main menu.... then when the viewer is watching a particular chapter, pressing 'menu' also goes back to the main menu, instead of the chapter menu, so viewer has to navigate back into the 'scenes' menu
or
2 when watching the whole video, pressing 'menu' takes the viewer to the chapter menu and then has to 'up' to the Main menu.... and therefore when watching a chapter only, 'menu' button returns to the particular chapter's menu, which is fine.
I thought I would have the 'menu' button return to the chapter menu:: up button for faster/easier access to the main menu, for viewers just watching the video, and convenience for viewers watching a chapter.
What is the more experienced opinion?

Yes, that's exactly what i want, and as above, for the chapter in the chapter menu to return to that chapter menu
If the former, put all of your markers into a single story and set the menu call to go back to the chapter menu.

I had already created stories from the second track on the dvd, with each one having an end jump back to the story menu and as no one had replied to this post, i had decided to make the chapters in the main track into stories too, but wanted them to continue into the next chapter. In fact i'd already created these 11 stories, some with 2 chapters in them, when I read your post.
So i did as you said and put all the chapter markers into one story, with no end jump for the chapters, but a menu call from the story to the 'chapter' menu instead of the main menu. Much cleaner than the way i had started to do.
And it works just the way i want it to : track's menu call is to the main menu, 'chapter' menu calls are to the chapter menu. Thank you so much!

How do I prevent Ipad mini to play the next title automaticly of a play list?

I'm using the ipad mini for my dance classes. I have all the songs in playlists and would like to be able to choose which ever song will be next. How can I prevent ipad-mini to play the next title of the playlist automaticly? I can't find any check/uncheck boxes (as in itunes).
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Big Thanks for Menu Remote Setting from Ch. Play Lists

Just before I handed over a DVD with 5 menus and 19 Ch. Play Lists, I was reading old posts on the EncoreDVD Forum. In several posts, many of the regulars pointed out a potential problem with Menu Remote, being set to "Return to Last Menu," rather than being physically set to return to the specific menu, from which that Ch. Playlist was launched.
I had not known of this problem, beforehand, and was just assuming that "Return to Last Menu," was OK, as it was what I intended. I had not tested my Project 100% from the +RW, as I do not normally use the Menu Remote button, and all else was as I wanted it.
I made the corrections to the specific Menus for the final, and then tested the +RW again - about half of the time, the Menu Remote took me back to the Main Menu! Not what I wanted, but had not bothered checking. Much better to know now, than when the client is screening the DVD and this is creating a problem.
Thanks for the H/U on this little glitch, and providing the easy solution to it. The forums at their best!!!!
I also understand that this little quirk has been addressed and fixed in CS3.

When generating a play list in the remote app (on ipad) I can add single tracks. But if I want to add several albums I need to add every single track of each album. Is there a way to add (and remove) an entire album at once?

(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Hi Sarah,
It sounds like the songs have either not yet synced over to the iPhone, or something went wrong when attempting to sync to the iPhone. My recommendation is to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox.
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.

Previous, play/pause, and next buttons don't work now?!

Hey everyone so i recently downloaded and installed itunes 9.2.1 I don't have any problems with it now but i've noticed that on my mac the previous, play/pause, and next buttons on the top row of keys don't work now has that happened with anyone else? now when i look under controls on itunes it says to pause its the space key and previous and next are command then left or right arrow but those only work when you have itunes open in front of you. Its not a huge deal but i was so used to just flipping through music and pausing and started when i wanted its just annoying!!! lol is there anyway to get them to work again?

I was having this problem as well. They were working with everything else, including my Google Chrome media keys extension (Sway.fm Unified Music Media Keys in my case). If you're running a browser extension that allows you to use your media keys on your browser, disable it. In my case it seems the extension was somehow blocking iTunes from being able to use the media keys. Once I disabled it, the keys worked perfectly with iTunes. I imagine this is probably a problem with the latest iTunes update not wanting to share use of the media keys rather than a problem with the browser extensions, since my browser extension hasn't updated since I first downloaded it.

Iterating though a List with a 'next' button.

I am just finishing off my GUI but I had a thought, I really would like to have next and previous buttons so I can move through my list.
However I started by implementing the 'Next' button, but I have run into some trouble, on the GUI I want the user to click next and it moves obviously to the next record, then they can hit it again and it moves onto the next record again.
However when I tried to do this, the interator refuses to move to the next record, it just stays at they record with the index of 0.
I've read some books, done some research and tried all the ways I can think of, but to no avail, my code for the 'Next' method is below, the button on the GUI just calls it from a separate class.

Determining next button after play has ended

I've created a DVD project with two menu pages, each with 10 buttons on it. After a selection has played, it always returns to the first menu and first button. Where do I set it so that, if I am watching something from 'menu 2', it stays on menu 2 and after the button has finished, the cursor moves to the next button?

Any updates on the remote Menu button

I haven't seen anything lately on the issue of using the remote's "Menu" button to access play lists etc when the video ipod is hooked up to a TV via the doc and an AV cable. Are there any updates on this? I am getting kind of tired of having to walk over to the TV to change playlists, etc. etc.

Well, I am taking about something a little different. Your link refers to what you see on your TV screen. I can get by without mirroring, its the remote i want to work better.
When the 'iPod Dock with Remote' originally came out, a lot of us assumed that the "menu" button would work the same way as the "menu" button on the ipod itself, i.e. it would take you back one level. We also assumed that the volume keys would let you scroll up and down through items in a menu (not as elegant as the scroll wheel, but workable). And that the RWD and FWD buttons would work as they do on the ipod. All of this taken together would give you full operation of your ipod without having to touch it. Adding screen mirroring would be the icing on the cake for the dedicated couch potato.
Unfortunately, the menu button is disabled on the remote when it comes to controlling an ipod... it only works for front row on a mac.
Anyway, a lot of us were hoping this could get resolved through some kind of firmware upgrade to the ipod itself.
