REMOTE RECORDINGS OVER THE WAN IN CCX 7

We have a customer
with CCX 7 local agents and recording services ( BUT NO QUALITY MONITORING)
Normally records all local agents calls ( colocated with CCX.
Now customer has remote agents via WAN and needs to record their conversations.
According specifications and PDI case the sutiationis:
"This deployment model can support silent monitoring and recording for agents at any WAN-connected site by using desktop monitoring. (Refer the Cisco Unified CCX Software and Hardware Compatibility Guide for a list of phones that support desktop monitoring). It can also support SPAN port monitoring for agents on the VLAN segment local to Cisco Unified CCX server. This deployment model does not incorporate additional remote Monitoring components, so silent monitoring and recording is not possible for agents who are using the Cisco IP Phone Agent at remote sites. Similarly, silent monitoring and recording is not possible for agents at remote sites who are using phones that do not support desktop monitoring."
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_7_0/design/guide/uccx70srnd.pdf
page 4-6
The list of phones not supported for desktop monitoring is listed in the compatibility guide.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
In other words CCX can support "silent monitoring and recording for agents at any WAN-connected site by using desktop monitoring"
But assume you use an IP Phone that supports desktop monitoring
AS RECORDING OPTION WITHOUT QUALITY MONITORING NEEDS MAC ADRESS OF AGENT how can CCX record agent calls taking into accoutn that MAC address is lost when traversing the WAN ...
So the question for this dsicussion is :
IS QUALITY MONITORING THE ONLY WAY TO RECORD REMOTE AGENTS OVER THE WAN OR ARE TEHRE OTHER OPTIONS WITHOUT IT??
Pease reply to [email protected]

It is possible without QM. When using desktop monitoring, the phone is configured to Span to PC port. The agent must be running CAD and the PC running it must be attached to the PC port on the phone. CAD sees the spanned packets from the phone and then forwards them to the recording service on the CCX server. The big gotcha is that the NIC in the PC must not discard 802.1q-tagged packets. If the NIC discards them instead of forwarding them into the NDIS stack, CAD will never see them. Sometimes this takes a Google search and a registry setting change to fix if it doesn't work at first.

  • DNS: Client can't connect because .local domain isn't in DNS. How can I connect over the WAN to server.domain.local?

So my 2012 server is set up on the LAN with a .local domain name.
Remote Desktop Services are set up and remoteapp stuff works fine on the LAN.
I've set up port forwarding so I can connect to the server over the WAN too, but remoteapp stuff is a bit different. I can connect to the server by specifying the correct IP address. Giving a Web browser the address
    https://serverIPAddress/RDWeb
lets me get the login screen and see the range of apps for me to run. I select one, the connectoid is downloaded correctly (in Chrome) and I click on the downloaded connectoid.
Unfortunately, rather than pursuing the sensible IP-address approach that I started with, the connectoid has been given the server's name on the LAN:  server.domain.local. Clearly, the client machine tries to look this up but DNS hasn't heard of
it because it's a .local address.
I cannot be the only one to have come across this apparent oversight on Microsoft's part. Any ideas as to how this can sensibly be overcome? Obviously, I could put the IP address translation into every client's hosts file (and I've done this and shown it
works) but I've got too many clients to mess about like this. Anybody know 'the Microsoft way' to fix this?
Thank you for checking this out -- I am confident the details of the problem are completely specified in this query but, if I'm wrong, please ask.
    Many thanks again,
    Biffo

  • Management traffic load over the WAN

Management process(include monitoring and security) with the central WCS system will cause Management traffic over the WAN links.
Can you tell me more about the traffic load over the WAN links if we will use it as only as Wifi detection and prevention system(inclue location and not for wireless services..for now).
We will use 150 air-AP1000(lwapp)on AIR-MONITOR mode over the WAN and 4400 controllers one in each remote sites(10 sites).

    As described above.
I do not own neither a Mac nor an iOS devices. May I still be able to use all features of Time Capsule, including remote access over the internet?

You will have setup issues.. as the latest AC model requires a Mac or iOS device.. eventually apple will release a windows version of the utility.. and the current one does partly work but Apple seem in no hurry.
You can find a Mac or iPad equipped friend to do the setup.. once setup the Windows computer can use it.
BUTT you cannot access it from remote..
Not with windows. You need BTMM and iCloud account. AFAIK even with those you cannot reach the TC.
You can do it manually.. using a vpn. Buy a proper vpn router and use a vpn client on the windows computer.. the TC would be in bridge to the network..
Apple really did not make this for windows.. and SMB access is only provided on LAN access not WAN.

  • Can you access an external HD plugged into the Airport Extreme from a remote location over the internet?

Can you access an external HD plugged into the Airport Extreme from a remote location over the internet?
Also can the content on the exteral HD plugged into the airport be accessed by the TV to stream content?

The first question answer is yes..
The question is asked continually.. please read the methods that Tesserax wrote up so well.
    See remote access tip here.
    AirPort
Also can the content on the exteral HD plugged into the airport be accessed by the TV to stream content?
Unlikely .. because your TV uses a system called DLNA.. and Apple do not support DLNA in any way shape or form.. because they are fully committed to iTunes.. Apple routers have no media extensions.. unlike most other decent brands now which mostly do support multimedia.
Having said that.. you can place your video files on the external hard disk.. and play them.. but you need a player.. a real player not an apple TV which is a streamer.. eg A WD Live TV can play video files.. because it is a media player.. unlike your TV or apple TV.

  • Remote Backup Over the Internet to Time Capsule

I am looking to backup my macbook pro over the internet to a remote Time Capsule.  Is there a solution?  i'm using Lion OS

How easy or hard this is depends on how the TC is setup, but if it is the main router and is getting the public IP from the modem it should be relatively easy to share on the internet. I haven't done it so let me leave that for you to google or others here to answer.
Here is a pre-googled one for you to start.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1792838?start=0&tstart=0
You can do it manually using port forwarding from the router, if you are not using TC in router mode.
    http://gigaom.com/apple/access-your-time-capsule-over-the-internet/
Note the requirements to use a public IP address (static address is far superior to do this) or dyndns address.
Getting port forwarding to work in some routers is non-trivial.
Apple should have designed the TC with secure ftp or some sort of vpn/ssl access.. but I digress. They didn't and as yet nobody has managed to hack one in.
But I guess I would be trying to talk you out of doing it at all. Upload on vast majority of internet connections is slow.. even if you have fast downloads, uploads are usually restricted to 1mbit.. you might be fortunate and have really fast connection but mostly uploads are far to slow to want to do this.
Lion will recognise that you are not on your home network, or the external backup device is absent and use local drive to take a snapshot.  Although a local hdd is obviously less safe than a true backup, it is generally an excellent solution for roadies. That is why it is turned on by default in notebooks.

  • Multi-Master Replication over the WAN

    DS verison: 5.1 sp1
Did any one implement multi-master replication across the WAN or different IP subnets?

Sun does mention about DS 5.2 being better than DS 5.1 in WAN based Muli-Master replication with respect to replication performance. I wanted to see if any one out there had implemented (or even played with this topology in their labs) it with out any major hickups.
    Thank you!

  • Deploying a large client partition over the WAN.

    Hi there,
I have a straight forward question on deployments. Here is the scenario:
I have a large number of machines (around 200) onto which I have to
deploy our client partition. The catch is this:
    a) these machines (NT4.0 Workstations) are on a WAN, (64K line)
    b) the client partition is huge (about 12MB),
    c) and we would like to do regular upgrades to the system.
I looked at Applets and it is not going to buy us anything. What would
have helped is if Forte could compress the distribution files before
sending them across the WAN. As far as I know, this is not a feature of
Forte (we are using 3.0.G.2). I guess there must be something that I'm
    overlooking.
Is there anyone out there willing to share his knowledge on this subject
    with us?
    Regards.

  • Remote control over the Internet?

    Hi,
I was under the impression that there was a way to use Zenworks to
    remote
    control via the Internet.
I'm a consultant and support several NetWare 6 installations and would
love to be able to use Zenworks to support my clients from here.
The only way I have seen so far is either to remote control a
    workstation
with something like PC Anywhere and run Console One remotely.
    Did I miss something?
Is anyone doing this? How can I do this?
    Thanks
    Willem

you're probably thinking of ZfD4.x, where you can remote control by
    just specifying the IP address.

  • The whole configure over WAN thing is confusing me I don't want anyone to be able to access my airport extreme over the WAN.  How can I check to make sure that is the way I have it setup?

I just bought a new airport extreme and I want to make sure that is NOT set up for "configure over WAN".  How do I check to make sure that is how I have it set up?  I only want access to the base via WPA2 password

Open AirPort Utility, select the AirPort Extreme, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab located just below the row of icons
Remove any check mark that might be in the box next to Allow Setup over WAN
Click Update to save your settings and the AirPort Extreme will restart in 25-30 seconds
For what it is worth, if you leave the box checked, any computer that tries to access the settings on the Airport Extreme will be asked for the device password....not the wireless network password.

  • Get an error message trying to access a remote PC over the internet on Mac

With the new Snow Leopard it has support for the remote exchange server 2007. The one I'm desire to access would be XP Pro, but I'm not getting far enough to address them yet. When i use my PC there's a gold bar that comes down and says install Active X and I accept. Any idea's?

  • Accessing Remote Data Over the Service-Enabled Application Module

    Hi,
    I am trying to access the service enabled module remotely(model project is deployed on different machine) deployed on Integrated WLS server. For that I have done the following step;
    1)     Created simple model project as producer.
    2)     Created the jar of model project(producer) .
    3)     Added the Bc_profileCommon.jar to the Consumer app.
    4)     Changed the connections.xml(Consumer) file accordingly (PFA).
    5)     Created the Entity Objects based on the wsdl in Consumer.
    6)     Created the JNDI on server and added the users with credentials.
    7)     I managed to access service enabled app module locally.
But I am not able to understand following tags in the connections.xml(for remote access) file such as
    <StringRefAddr addrType="jndiProviderURL">
    <Contents>t3://10.180.190.214:7101</Contents>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="jndiSecurityPrincipal">
    <Contents>weblogic</Contents>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <SecureRefAddr addrType="jndiSecurityCredentials">
    <Contents>kiran</Contents>
    </SecureRefAddr>
Also I am getting a warning for the SecureRefAddr as “No grammer available for the absent namespace contents of element of Contents cannot be validated.”
Please let me know the significance of the red word. And what value I should set so that it will access the service enabled application module remotely?
    ** I am using Jdev 11.1.1.3.0

As Bob rightly says you may have a problem if the machine you are trying to access is on a corporate network as you will need the permission and help of the network administrator to achieve this.
I assume from your post that there is not a VPN connection set up on the remote PC network. Assuming that you have access to the router on the remote network then you will need to set up portforwarding on it at some point so I suggest you go to this page and see if your router is listed as you will need some instructions if you don't use the software suggested by Bob.
When accessing a remote machine, PC or Mac, I have always used a secure connection to do so and the alternative to a VPN is an SSH tunnel. Unfortunately unlike the Mac Windows doesn't come with SSH server software installed so if you want to go down this route you will have to install and configure this first. I haven't tried this on Windows 7 yet but I have been successful on Windows XP and there are plenty of sites with instructions on how to set this up like this one here. Once the SSH server is set up on the PC and port 22 on your remote router has been forwarded then you can set up a SSH tunnel in the same way as described in my post in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10847513&#10847513

  • Remote printing over the internet

My Time Capsule is in a storage room, connected to my cable modem.
I have an Ethernet cable connecting the Time Capsule to my Airport Express in my home office. The Airport Express extends the network. My printer is plugged into the USB port on Airport Express, so I can print wirelessly.
The Time Capsule supports MobileMe, which means when I'm away from home I can still connect to the Time Capsule's hard drive. I can even run Airport Utility remotely.
What I can't do is print to my home printer. The Time Capsule supports printing to a printer connected directly to its USB port, but I can't figure out how to print remotely to the printer plugged into my Airport Express.
Is this even possible? If I replaced the Express with an Airport Extreme, would that work?

  • LINUX remote desktop over the web

Is anyone familiar with linktivity web interactive?
    http://www.linktivity.com
I was wondering if there was a product like this available for linux
Basically (TO THE BEST OF MY UNDERSTANDING), It works on a web server and users can browse to that web server and start a java application which shares their desktop interface.
Remotely (at a third location) a technician can log into the same server and view the user's desktop and interact just like it was a vnc connection.
The advantage I see is that the user never has to "install" anything, start any services, or open any ports on their firewall/router to share their desktop. All they have to do is browse to the website and load the java applet and they are ready. Also it is nice that the technician can be at a third location and not on the web server or at the site (via vpn connection or some other method).
    any advice would be appreciated.

That means java.awt.Robot with which you can make a screen shot and such.
    There is the security issue.
Furthermore why not make it a Java WebStart application, so the overhead of being in a browser is gone.
However the remote tools in existence today do much low-level things to improve speed.
So a java solution would make more sense for specific maintenance,
like having an app being shared, and that is a different story.
Develop first via local net, or two monitors (laptop with dual monitor).
