Remote volume works only on computerspeakers ?

Hi there,
on my iMac,
i'll put on some music with the remote control, the sound is going thru airport express to my amplifier, thats working great.
But what if i want to change the volume with the remote?
The remote only changes the volume of the iMac speakers, not via airtunes
Does anyone has a solution for this problem?

Nope, that's not it.
This checkbox turns off the volume 'switch' in iTunes, so you won't be able to set volume via iTunes, you can only change the volume on the amplifier.
tx anyway

  • Volume works only in read only mode

Our Xsan volume is going nasty
if any client tries to write on it , the xsan would crash and disconnect on all clients
only way to bring it back is to shutdown all machines and power on again
it works fine when the volume is mounted as read only though , so now I have a volume I can only read from , but can't write to
any one had this happening before ? any idea what might be causing it ?
    Thanks

Here is what I would suggest:
Check the time stamp on all your machines

  • Remote volume control only goes all the way up/down

when i use my apple remote when im using itunes, or anything other than frontrow, the volume lowers but does not stop until it has reached the bottom or the top. therefore, to adjust my computers volume i must use the keyboard volume control.

Have you tried a reset first and if a reset does not resolve it, a restore with iTunes?
I don't know if you are the only one who has experienced this, but I don't recall seeing the same reported here and if it has, it has not been reported in large numbers or I probably would have seen it.

  • Nintendo Wii Remote and Remote Buddy work only in Safe Mode

I'm having trouble with getting Bluetooth to work in normal mode. I can connect to BT devices but the connection is lost within a couple of minutes. In Safe Mode, however, the connection is stable. I am using a Nintendo Wii Remote and Remote Buddy software (both of which are really cool). Also, a Sony Ericsson Z520a phone works well in safe mode but not in normal mode. What can be done to get things working properly?

Here is an update: connecting the iMac G5 with the Wiimote through Bluetooth using the Remote Buddy software works IF I do nothing but connect in normal startup mode. Waiting a few minutes after connecting allows me to then use the Wii as a remote. What is happening!! Please, someone respond. Thanks in advance.

  • The remote down button only sometimes works

More often than not the down button on the remote wont work even though it's communicating with the box as it clicks and light flashes. Any ideas?

buttons are mechanical microswitches which cause an electrical connection detecting it being pressed
if metal plastic or become defect and breaks or if dirt get in to cause the mechanical connection not happen or only happen periodic
you will experience what you experience, you most likely cure would be to buy a new remote, use an ios device with remote app or give it a go trying to clean  / repair the button yourself

  • Remote volume stops working but still changes channels

my remote volume will stop working after a while and i always would reprogram it.  fios told me all i have to do is press "tv" and "volume" same time and it will work.  this isn't working? anyone have remedy?

There are many considerations for these remote control issues. The Verizon  Supplied (Motorola or Phillips made) remote controls are designed to first work the cable company’s set-top-box, and then operate as many TV’s on the planet that it possibly can. Meaning it might never quite bas a good with your TV as the remote that came with the TV.
Still there’s hope! Especially if it used to work! Here’s some things to try…
1.) Is it possible the remote got switched from one room to another? Think of these cable-company supplied “universal” remotes as being married to the TV not the set-top-box.
2.) Try fresh batteries, the TV may need more “punch” from the remote than the set-top-box.
3.) Re-Program the remote, instructions for this are at:
    http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/item&objId=14933
for the black Phillips remote or at
    http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/item&objId=14934
if you have the gray colored Motorola remote

  • Apple Remote stopped working with Lion on iMac

My white Apple Remote does not work with Lion on my iMac 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo anymore.
I'm sure it was working recently as I was able to control the volume on my RadioShark application.  Now that doesn't work anymore and I can't seem to get the remote to work with anything.
I've tried restarting my iMac, swapping the remote's battery, and using another remote but still no success.  The only response I get is from the remote's 'Menu' button which, when pressed, toggles between two graphics on screen - one a four-way arrow indicator with a centre button, and the other what appears to be a Forward/Back, Centre button with corner indications for Expand/Shrink.
I've tried the 'Pair' option but pressing 'Menu' and 'Fast Forward' does nothing on screen - no sign of the chain-link 'Paired' symbol. Neither of the white remotes I tried is 'Paired' with the iMac.
It seems I must have done something to cause this but can't think of any change I made that could be responsible.  I know Front Row is no longer accessible in Lion, but is there any other app I could test my remote on?  Any kind of hardware reset needed? (unlikely, I know, with two separate remotes showing the problem).
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm replying to my own question because my remotes are working again.
I'm not sure what I did to fix the issue, but I tried shutting down all open applications (I remembered that by default Lion re-opens with everything as it was).  And shortly afterwards I got full functionality back for my Apple Remote.
I'm not sure what caused the issue.  I did install Easy Timeline, which I'd downloaded today from the Mac App Store.  It has Apple Remote functionality, so I'm not sure if it was in some way implicated.  It's working now with my remote, as is iTunes, and RadioShark.
    Weird!

  • Use REMOTE on iPad only to request songs

I'm preparing a music set-up for a birthday party. I want to use a play-list on my Mac Mini and let the guests only request songs via Remote App installed on my iPad. With my iPhone I want to have Master Control (skip, volume etc.)
My problem is that my guests must not be able to skip songs or adjust volume when using iPad for song requests. I can not make Remote App on my iPad act the same as on my iPhone. I can only use my iPhone as a request song Remote.
Is there a way to make the Remote App work exactly the same on my iPad as on my iPhone or is there an alternative application available for requesting songs on iTunes (Mac Mini) via iPad ?

Have you turned on homesharing on the Apple TV and iPad.

  • I-Trigue 3800 Remote stopped working..

The remote in my i-trigue 3800 stopped working all of a sudden. I replaced the battery, and the volume worked for about 5 clicks, and again, it stopped working. Is there a replacement remote for these speakers or something else I should be aware of?
    thanks.

I have the same problem. One day I turned my computer on and the subwoofer failed to work, but my satellites are OK. A real pitty, because just a couple weeks out of warranty. Good speakers when they work, otherwise an awkward load for the trashman. I opened the thing up, thinking the warranty sucked anyway... and saw nothing apparent, everthing seemed connection alright and no burn marks or bad smells. It may be something more involved, so I am going to let this 40 Euro speak set go. *boohoo* and buy myself a boston acoustics set, which are better. I had a set that last 8 years and would have lasted more if I had taken them myself on a plane when I emigrated.
I suppose these days in electronics, it not worth sending it in for repair, chances you can buy a better system with the shipping, repair and tax you would pay to repair it, but if it lies in your heart, then thats your business. Otherwise these depreciative things, are not worth the time and sweat.
Here's to a speaker system that lasted only a year. *cheers*

The Apple TV remote controller works fine if the lid is open at a distance of 15 feet.  Once the lid is closed, however, the remote controller stops working.  It was working fine previously.  The remote works fine with other appliances and applications, such as Apple TV as well as the MBP when the lid is open, so I believe the batteries are fine.
