Remote wipe with out a service plan???????

This is a 2 part question.   I turn off my phone service a month ago. I lost the phone yesterday, and sent a remote wipe.  Will the wipe work without a service plan?  Will my palm profile be erased due to inactivity? I'm not planning to get another phone until the new palm come out next year.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Without service the device would not be able to receive the remote wipe command.

  • Why do we want a cellular network with a special service plan to connect to the internet via a BlackBerry smartphone?

I always wondered why we need a cellular network with a special service plan to connect to the internet via a BlackBerry smartphone?  This problem is not occuring on smartphones of other brands. Can anyone please explain this to me?

    Hello,
The reason is that, with legacy (e.g., pre-BB10) devices, the device itself does not do all of the work to provide you with your services. Rather, there is infrastructure (BlackBerry Internet Service - BIS) hosted at the carriers/BlackBerry that provides linkages between your device and certain services. This includes, among many things, email...unlike non-BB smartphones, the BlackBerry on-device email client is not a "full" email client; it depends on BIS in order to provide the "push" email capability that BBs rely on.
This BIS infrastructure is unique to BlackBerry, and only services BB users. Hence, it costs extra for the carriers to provide services for BB users, and therefore they can demand from their BB users a higher cost dedicated service plan so as to enable those proprietary services for the BB users. (In some markets, there is no extra charge for BIS...but the requirement for BIS nevertheless remains in all markets for legacy BB users.)
So, this is not a "problem" per se...but rather a difference between BlackBerry devices/services and others. One could instead think of it as a "market discriminator", favoring BlackBerry (only for those who desire such, of course).
With BB10 (Z10, Q10, Q5), BIS has been eliminated btw.
    Good luck!

  • Remote Wipe with iPhone without exchange server

    Hello All
I have a question about the new "remote wipe" feature in the iPhone 2.0 software upgrade. I like the idea of it for security reasons in case the phone gets taken, but I am a private individual without access to an enterprise server. I do have a "mobile me" account - and was wondering if it was possible to do a 'remote wipe" without an exchange server either as a mobile me member or in some other way? It would let me feel more comfortable carrying around my original iPhone with more data.
Anyone know how this will work?
In case it matters, I have an iPhone 8GB.

I guess my question is that from my understanding "mobile me" is a fake enterprise server service, exchange for the rest of us. So that's why it would seem to be a natural link if they're able to do push email, calendars, etc. then it seems that we would not need to have a separate APP in order to do a remote wipe. But I don't know how it technically works.

  • Credit card invoice releasing to accounting with out payment card plan

    Hi
We have an issue with respect to invoice. For an order with credit card, billing document type F2 is created but it doesn't have any payment card plan at header level but does have payment card plan at item level. But the invoice is released to accounting .
We were under impression that when payment card plan is not copied in billing document the invoice get stuck in "payment card error " and not released to accounting.
So please let me know if some body has an idea about the process and what kind of checks are done before releasing to accounting.
    Regards
    Veerendra

Big ticket items no matter what carrier you'll have the same issues. With the out of orders happening to contact every customer is a pain staking effort for any company. If the demand wasn't so high then it would be plausible.

  • Can an iphone4 be used on a wifi connection like an iPod touch with out phone service? Apps etc?

If I have an iphone 4 and want to use it w out a cellular phone service is that possible with a wifi connection to use apps and the App Store like an iPod touch is used w a wifi service?

Yes it can be used as an iPod without cellular service but using WiFi when needed.  I recommend, however, that you keep your Sim card even after it is no longer active either on the iPhone or stored somewhere, as you would need it to be there if you need to re-activate the iPhone after a restore, should you ever need to do one.

  • How can one update text windows on remote site with out DW

    Hi!
I am new to site design and I don't know if what I have in mind can be achieved.
I would like to have a website with different news (text) and I would like to update those text by just uploading a file with the new text, can this be done.
    If yes, how?
    Thanks for any clue.
    Edgar

    Hi!,
Finaly I thought Server Side Include would be the easiest way to achieve my goal.
I took a text and save it as HTML; open it with notepad and erase all HTML tags, leaving just, I think the, the requested tag for tex, heraafter copy of my file:
I am not sure about what was wrong, but using the DW to write the "include" rather than to do it by hand (to understand better what I was doing ) it works well after I erase the following lines :
       </STYLE>
    < LANG="fr-FR" TEXT="#000000" DIR="LTR">
    <H4 CLASS="western">nserting an image placeholder</H4>

image that displays in a browser. Before you publish your site,
replace any image placeholders you've added with web-friendly graphic
files such as GIFs or JPEGs. Click the link below to begin the
    simulation</P>
    <P CLASS="western" STYLE="margin-bottom: 0cm"><BR>

  • DwDatamart db required with out installing service manager concole .

    Hi all,
Kindly let me know where can i download sample dwdatamart db .
    Thanks
    Regards, Subathra

So depending on what you're looking to do, you might be better served by reviewing the Data Warehouse Architecture, or
    looking at the standard reports
    detailed at technet.
Even a small environment with any type of data is going to be in the multiple gigabyte range. A sample database is going to have a bunch of instance specific junk that may or may not be meaningful to you. For instance, I have Provance in my lab, and
there are a lot of classes and objects defined by Provance in my datamart. if you're using Cireson's asset management, all the classes and tables are going to be very different, or if you're not using either tool, then all of that data will be useless.
as a final though, you might consider installing the product in a VM in
trial mode. Whatever your use case, you're going to have a hard time testing without a database to validate against.

  • IPhone with out phone service

Do you have to have phone service in order to use the iPhones other application such as the navigation tool, internet and so on?

You will not be able to use the internet without service. I don't believe AT&T will sell you Data only for the iPhone so figure you're going to have to pay $39 for voice and another $35+ for data. ItIf you have an iPod Touch, you will be able to connect to a non-secured wireless router and surf the web. Sorry I don't know if the iPhone has a true GPS receiver or whether it triangulates based on cell phone towers. Good luck.
One other thing you might want to know the answer to. If you connect your iPhone to a laptop, the laptop will not gain internet access based on the iPhone unless you pay approximately $30 extra per month for "tethering".

  • Use Droid 3 features With out a Plan?

Now before anyone assumes that i am asking if I can make calls/text with out a data plan, it is not what I am asking. I am well aware that all smartphones that Verizon carries has to have a data plan. My current situation is that because the new Share plan does not save my family any money (Same Amount Regardless change or no change), we decided to cancel the Data plan on my Droid III. Now my question is, because my Droid III is already activated when I bought the Data plan from Verizon last year and If we canceled it. Will I still be able to play around with the phone. For example, my Droid III is my portable Music device. Will I be able to use it just for music even though there is no data? Will I be able to use its WiFi features or play the games I already have installed?

When on wifi your phone can indeed make and recieve calls and send text messages via an app called viber. I use this app all the time to talk to my son who is in the military and it doesn`t go against my minutes because i don`t run the app via 3g. It`s allowed me to choose the lowest minutes plan available. Even when run via 3g it only uses data and still doesn`t count towards minutes or texts messages. It`s a smartphone app and everyone you call or text also has to have the app installed. You can switch to your cosmos and your droid 3 will do everything it does now as long as its connected to wifi.

  • Verizon iphone with japanese service plan

Is it possible to use an iphone 4s that has been previously activated with Verizon with a Japanese service plan?
I'm thinking about buying an iphone but, I maybe living in Japan in the near future. Considering the cost of the device I would like to be able to utilize it to it's fullest while in Japan. But I certainly won't keep my Verizon account active while over seas. I need to know if i can use the same phone in the US before I leave and when I get there I'll be able to activate it with Japanese provider.

I don't believe you can get around this, legitimately or not. That's one of the biggest faults of using a CDMA carrier.
I imagine the person you spoke to at Verizon didn't know what they were talking about, since it would be physically impossible to bring a CDMA iPhone to their network. Sprint in the only other US CDMA carrier and they won't unlock an iPhone, so Verizon could not set it up on their network. They don't have the legal right to circumvent the lock to Sprint. Likewise, the CDMA side of a 4S purchase unlocked is completely disabled, so they would not be able to activate it on their network anyway.
As for them unlocking the phone, all they can unlock is the SIM slot, which will allow you to use a local GSM network IF there is NOT a CDMA network present. If there is a CDMA network present, it will ALWAYS use CDMA and you will pay Verizon international roaming charges. If you cancel your Verizon account, the phone will be shut down entirely. CDMA and GSM.
Your only real options are buy a phone in Japan with the realization that you will have to sell it when you're ready to come back to the States, or buy an unlocked phone and take it with you to use a local SIM while in Japan and AT&T when at home.

  • Unauthorized Change to TV Service Plans

There have been unauthorized changes to my TV service plans twice in the last billing cycles and I'm clearly agitated. The facts:a. On June 19th, I received a Verion email notification stating that my TV plan was changed from Prime to Extreme HD. I know none from our household initiated this change. I called a Verizon rep and wanted an explanation and resolution of this issue. Verizon was able to prove on their part that no call was made that authorized any changes. BUT, Verizon intimated that the change might have been done remotely. I asked them to prove to me how that was possible since none from my household how this is even done. Verizon promised to change back my plan to Prime. My issue with this sequence of events is that Verizon is throwing the burden to the customers to provide proof that the change was not initiated by the latter.  b. On July 16th, I received an email bill notifying me that my bill increased by almost $70 from $321 to $385 because of a change in TV service plan from Prime to Extreme HD (again!!!). It is now apparent that Verizon never change back my plan to Prime. I called Verizon rep (Jane) and complained about this incident. I asked them to retroact the changes as I do not (and will not) give Verizon the satisfaction of benefiting from their own mistake and inadequacy. They kept on implying that maybe somebody did the change remotely. How can I prove a negative.  When someone buys from Apple Store or Apple iTunes, one needs to put in their password everytime.  There is no such thing with Verizon with respect to change in TV service plans according to them. Yes, with respect to buying movies on Fios, one needs to authenticate. But it seems, Verizon, through, utter corporate or institutional laziness,  did not care to put the same authentication process and is asking the customers to prove otherwise. I can firmly say that none from my housefhold made any changes remotely, online to our TV service plans. Something is wrong with the Verizon system. But Verizon is totally screwing its customers by not correcting their system or by denying that such a problem exists. If Verizon wants to do right by its customers, then an easy fix can be made by requiring authentication for any change in rate or package plans done remotely or online.  Bottom line: No one verbally or remotely authorized a change in my TV plans from Prime HD to Extreme HD. None. The Verizon rep (Jane) who I spoke to promise to escalate and stated that they will correct my current bill.  My trust with Verizon is broken. I have wasted three hours resolving the issued outlined in a and b above. My blood pressure is up and am clearly agitated at this point. I need someone Verizon to step up and resolve this situation not only on my behalf but all other customers who might be encountering the same problems as I have. Please help.

You are talking to peers not Verizon. Call them or chat.  1-800-Verizon or use chat which is one of the options on the contact us options on every page http://www.verizon.com/support/residential/contact-us/index.htm .

  • SDL Link Out of Service - Node down

We keep seeing these RTMT alerts and then receive SDL Link out service or server node down. I have been working with TAC but they are not able to pin point if its a CUCM issue or network issues. I have the network team check the CPU usage during this time and nothing major happening same thing on the CUCM side.
At Tue Oct 28 14:56:48 PDT 2014 on node  the following SyslogSeverityMatchFound events generated:

Has anyone experienced this issue? We recently upgraded to 9.x.

We are experiencing the exact same thing.  There doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary or in the logs, but these errors randomly kick off as far as we can tell for no reason.
I opened a TAC case and they related it to CPU load on our Publisher, I bumped it as recommended and the error cleared for a few days, but just came back today.
Anyone have any insight?  As I said, doesn't seem to be service impacting, so is it just another 'Cisco Feature'?

  • Buying an iPhone with a Telephone company plan outside United States.

I would like to know if there is any control of prices outside of US by Apple. I went to buy an Iphone in Venezuela with
a telephone service plan, and I thought that it was like in the US, where one can pay a low price for the phone, and
have a selected plan with a telehone company. I was in schock to find out that in the APPLE store to buy the Iphone was very
expensive, and they told me to get it at the local Telephone company that provides service for Iphones. I went to iy thinking I can get it at a lower
price with the service from the Telephone company. I found out that the LOW PRICE her for the Iphone, 16GB, was $1,200. I almost fainted to hear
this! How can a company abuse the consumers this way? Is there any International Consumer Support? How can an IPhone cost so much
in a country where salaries do not compare like salaries in the US? Who can buy such a phone at such a price? The irony of it is that
it is cheaper than in the actual APPLE STORE. Is there any way that this can be controlled?

Apple is not abusing you in any manner.  Outside of the US, the cost of iPhones are not subsidized, and you'll pay full retail price.  In Bangkok, all iPhones are unlocked, and the best one costs the equivalent of over $1000US.  However, all of the carrier-offered plans cost only 1/3rd of the plans in the US.  In the long run, it's cheaper to purchase and use an iPhone outside of the US.

Greetings Phyo! I would very much like to assist you with your internet concerns. However, Verizon Wireless service is currently offered only in the United States and we don't interface with the internet services you've mentioned in your post. It is when our customers travel overseas that they can use the service of our global partners at special rates. If I can be of other assistance, please let me know. Thanks for contacting me through VZW Community Forums!
