Remotely locking mail accounts on stolen devices

is it possible to stop devices receiving emails remotely when stolen?  I have used Find my iphone to lock the device.
Thinking out loud....using find my iphone I have found that my devices are offlline...if I have now locked them, I presume the theif will not be able to get online.... so are my options to leave unlocked and give them access to my stuff or lock and prevent them going online so I can locate...?

If the iPad was running iOS 7, the thief/finder will not ever be able to use it.

I have setup my Apple mail account on my ipad mini and my iMac to receive e-mail messages via my e-mail address established through my internet service provider (comcast.net).  How do I configure the Apple mail account so that actions (i.e. delete) in the mail account of one device also occurs in the mail account of the other device?

  • Mail accounts on many devices

I have set 3 different mail accounts on all my devices ( iPhone 4s , 3Gs macbook pro 15",macbook 12")
On my iPhones and on a specific account I get a message "the message has not been downloaded from
the server" or "not possible to download the message from the server" (the exact wording may be different

Are your email accounts setup as POP3 or IMAP?
It sounds as though they are setup as POP3.
For best results accessing email accounts from multiple devices they should be setup as IMAP.
POP3 accounts are generally only suitable for single device usage. Some POP3 email providers 'lock' the account from being accessed from multiple devices at the same time. IMAP doesn't have these restrictions.

  • Now with iCloud mail, do I delete my Mac and Me Mail accounts on my devices?

My computer and Iphone had email accounts for Mac mail and Mobileme (I think they are duplicates when mac changed to me and I just left them).
Now with Icloud uploaded and configured for all my devices, it appears that both accounts are there but one appears never to be connected and they both quite often ask for my password in that pop up window. So my questions are.
    1. Can I eliminate (delete) one from my Mac Laptops? Which one if the answer is yes.
    2. On my Iphone: there is only an Icloud and Mac mail accounts (mobileme never came over). Should I keep both?
Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated as its a bit confusing as to how it all ties together.
    Skip

iCloud uses your mac mail account.  If you haven't already done so, here is the sequence to follow:
    1. If you have a Mac, upgrade it to 10.7.2.
    2. Upgrade any iDevices to 10.5
    3. Go to iCloud.com and follow the process to transfer your mail account to iCloud.
It sounds like you've done most of that.  The rejected password issue is due to the fact that iCloud is experiencing some intermittant growing pains problems.  It kind of comes and goes.  If you've managed to connect once, your solid.  Just be a little patient as the iCloud mail service usually comes back fairly quickly.

  • Mail accounts on multiple devices not staying synchronized

    Hi
I'm having trouble with keeping my Gmail accounts synchronized.  I have a MacBook Air running Mavericks and an iMac also running 10.9.2.
After deleting many emails from the Gmail account on the MacBook, the same emails are not being deleted from my iMac.
I believe I have the Gmail account settings the same on both computers.
I'm not really clear what the synchronize functions of Mail do, since not much seems to happen when I click on them.
I didn't have this problem until recently updating Mavericks, but I am not sure if that is the cause.
I'm not really sure how to trouble shoot this one, which is why I am asking for help.

    Hi
Thanks.  Still going nuts with this.
Do I need to also delete the un-synched accounts from my mobile devices?  Or just the computers using Mavericks?

  • Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

Dear, I guess, / This article doesn't suit your case. / • You have not enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device. / • You have not locked your device remotely. / Because you don't know where the remote lock is and haven't played with its settings. / You need to explain what has happened. / The only thing we get is that your memory card doesn't open. / 1. your phone model, e.g., 5130. / 2. What did you do recently that might have caused this issue? / 3. What methods did you try to unlock it? / Use some of the tips provided above. (except number 1). / Yours

  • Remove additional icloud mail accounts

My daughters each have an iPhone, and they've been using my apple ID in the app store and for their mail. Since I discovered the family sharing, I setup an icloud account for each of them, but when I go into settings, icloud, scroll to the bottom under advanced and click on mail, they have other icloud mail addresses, not the one I recently setup under family sharing. How can I delete these icloud mail accounts and set their phones up to use their new icloud account?

Yes, I'm trying to setup Family Sharing because in the past, their devices all had my Apple ID, so they could buy apps and music, but as they're getting older, they're tired of sharing the same Apple ID, mine, because when someone texts them, they both get it.
I've already setup Family Sharing using my Apple ID, and I assume I've set it up correctly, so when you first enter the iCloud settings, my Apple ID is at the top of the page and under it lists their names, which is where it used to read Family Sharing.  Now that they each have their own iCloud account, I'm trying to setup the device to use it,  but from what I can tell, it looks like they tried setting up their own Apple accounts because they were tired of receiving each other's texts. When I go to advanced iCloud mail settings (at the bottom of the iCloud settings page, they have multiple iCloud accounts. I'd like to delete all of these and only use the one I setup for them, but I can't figure out how to delete these accounts from the device. Or, is it possible for me to add one of these accounts, which are already listed, to my Family Sharing account and then delete the others? Only problem is, I can't figure out how to delete these iCloud mail accounts from the device.
I know this must be confusing to understand, I use Android, so I've attached a couple of pictures from the settings screens that I'm referring to. Hopefully this will help me explain it better so you understand whatII'm trying to do.  Thanks.

  • Exchange Mail account on MBP

I'd like to add my work mail (Exchange) account to my new MBP, I've read the problems that people are having with Exchange generally but I'd like to be sure that I have the same problem and it's not the way I'm attempting to set it up.
I've successfully set up this mail account on various devices with the following information, my email address, server address (mail.mywork.com), a two letter domain (EU) my username and my password.
If I add an Exchange account through System Preferences it complains that it can't verify the identity of the certificate, but I continue and enter my username combined with my domain (EU\username), password and server address - it reports that the server isn't responding (I can't ping it but work IT report that the ping is probably turned off).  If I use safari to go to the https URL of my mail server it loads up fine,
    Any ideas?

  • Setting up an Exchange Mail Account

I just purchased an iPad Air 2 and I'm trying to set up a Mail account for an Exchange server so that I can send/receive emails from work and sync my work calendar.  I have the account set up on my iPhone 4s running iOS 8.1.2  I know how to add a Mail account and I'm trying to copy the account settings from my iPhone to my iPad.  The only thing I can't determine is what the password is that I had entered on my iPhone.  I'm pretty sure I know what it is, but as far as I can determine, there is no way to actually view the password once it is entered.  When I enter the password I think I used on my iPhone, to set up the account on my iPad, I get a message saying  that Mail can't verify the account. Is there a way to view a password from a mail account on one device so that I'm sure I'm entering it correctly on another device?  Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I was aware of the Settings>Safari>Passwords and Auto Fill>Saved Passwords feature, and checked there.  After seeing your response I checked again, and I could not find a website corresponding to the Exchange Server.  I might not have had Keychain enabled on my iPhone when I set up the Exchange account on my iPhone a few years ago.  Keychain is enabled now, but I'm hesitant to change any of the account settings for fear of not being able to connect to my work email etc, on my iPhone.  Thanks for your help.

My iPhone 4s was stolen this weekend and I did the Remote Lock.  What exactly does that do?  Also, if i do the Remote Wipe will that erase all of my data and impede anyone from ever using the phone?

The remote lock locks the iphone with a passcode that you set. By remote wiping the device it will simply restore it and clear it of all its data, but by doing this it will prevent you tracking it and communicating with it (e.g. remote locking it) in the future

  • My iPod was stolen yesterday. Is there any way I can delete my e-mail account from the iPod?

My iPod Touch was stolen last night. Unfortunately, on my iPod was my e-mail account, which was synced to the "Mail" app. I don't want the thief to be able to access my e-mail, so I changed my e-mail password on Gmail.
But is there anything else I can do? I'm scared that even though I changed the password, the Mail app will still be able to access my Gmail account.
The same goes for Twitter, for me.
Thanks so much for your help in advance.

You can wipe the iPod only if you had already set up ther FindMyiPod feature. and wifi is on and some other conditions are met.
