Remotely monitor my CCTV system using my Mac

I am in the process of installing a CCTV system at my house with a VXM4 DVR Hard drive recorder. It is very straight forward to remotely monitor the system using a PC with an internet connection, but I can't seem to do it using my Mac. I desperately don't want to use a PC to do this. Does anyone know how I can do it using my MAC. Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple boards.
Does your camera/recorder itself connect to the internet? Some do and all you need to do is browse to the IP address it is set for, just like any other website.

  • Remotely accessing a CCTV system - questions :)

    Hi
I want to remotely access my CCTV system that's set up using multiple cameras and a DVR.
The DVR has an ethernet port to connect to a router.
The problem I think I have is that I can only get a 3G service where I am and therefore I use a 3G router with embedded sim card, and then connect an Airport Extreme to the router, and extend the 'Airport Network' with further Airport Extremes and Airport Expresses.
Standard 3G SIM service providers do not offer a fixed IP address.  This isn't a problem for normal internet activity but I think it is when trying to remotely access the DVR.
So someone suggested using a DDNS or noip.com service, however I'm told that 3G providers prevent the SIM cards from being able to use these services, something to do with NAT?
So my question is, is there anything at all that I can do using my current setup?  Or is my only option to run a separate 3G router with a fixed IP sim card (you can get them but they are considerably more expensive) dedicated to the DVR?  Would Back to My Mac provide a possible solution?
Other than what I've mentioned I have no other real knowledge of networking etc, so please explain any answers simply!
    Thanks

I don't think I can use dyn.com or noip.com as I've been told that the SIM providers don't allow you to port forward on a router.
I don't really know how Back to My Mac works but I wondered if I have the DVR connected to one of my AirPort Extreme Routers could I access that router (and the DVR) using B2MM?
I also want to be able to access the DVR and settings when I'm in the house using my laptop. Can someone offer any advice on how to do this?
    Much appreciated

  • How to load webcam (cctv System) website by mac system? Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,
I got a shop with CCTV system, IP-surveillance solution, which can be view from the internet. However, I only can load the website by windows system (IE), nothing can be seen by Mac system.
Is there anyone can teach me how can I loading and watching the webcam (CCTV) by Mac system?
Thanks in advance & best wishes!

Well, i assume that your internet-access
to the cameras works over a java-based
    website.
i've got a similar setup for my office.
    download (google for the download-link)
and install(drag and drop into applications folder)
a Browser called Firefox (download the mac version!).
It will work properly like the IE in windows.
By the way: this is a problem related to an
issue with java and the standard mac browser (safari).

  • How to create remote monitor and control webpages using cFP2220

    Hi all,
I'm fresh user using compact field point. I would like to make cfp2220 as a web server, so other PCs can using IE to monitor and control through web browser.
Moreover, does the webpages support security? and how to setup?
    Thanks,

    Hi Robert,
You can use LabVIEW Web Services to set up a system like you describe, and there is also information available on how to secure your Web services.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • How do I get LR to open on the secondary monitor in a two monitor iMac Retina system using Yosemite?

No matter what settings I use in Mission Control or in TotalSpaces2, LR (latest version) keeps opening on the main screen and I have to move it to the secondary monitor each time I restart it or change catalogs. It is irritating but also problematic in that LR seems to get lost on occasion when I use the main monitor for full sized images and will seemingly randomly put the full frame image on top of the main LR grid and control screens (on the secondary monitor) which forces me to close LR to get back to normal. So far I haven't been able to figure out any sequence that causes this to happen but there probably is one.
    I have:
    1. Tried with the possible combinations of "Displays have separate spaces" and Spaces assignments available by right clicking the program's icon in the Dock.
    2. Lowering the position of the secondary monitor in Display Arrangements (a strange suggestion via the Internet)
    3. Very politely asking LR to behave like all of the other programs.
    Any suggestions.

Exactly what Bob Levine said. Can confirm, running a two monitor display here.

  • Remote Monitoring

    Hi,
I want to remote monitor my PXI system using a PC (PC will not have LabVIEW/LabVIEW RTE installed) through the web.
I just tried the windows Remote Desktop and the web publishing tool by enabling web server in web server configuration. But for this the PC should have LabVIEW and the LabVIEW RTE installed in it. But i wont to install LabVIEW in the PC through i will monitor. Is there any way?.......

Yes, the use of remote panels requires the installation of the runtime engine on the remote pc so if you want (wont) to install it, go ahead. Its free to download and install.

  • I am thinking of using a Mac pro for share trading. Can anyone share their experience and suggest specs for 30 -40 monitors etc

    Hi
I am thinking of using a Mac Pro for share trading.
I am proposing to start small but want to be able to expand up to 30+ monitors.
    It must be super quick.
Any help with hardware would be appreciated.
Software is secondary at this point , but open to advice.
I have an iphone and ipad so feel it will better intergrate usung Apple
    regards
    David

There is no desktop machine that I know of that will support 30+ monitors as is.
Fill the 3 or 4 PCIe slots of any logic board with three port graphics cards and you have the physical cap without additional hardware.
Software is secondary at this point
No, without software, how can you control more than the monitor limit of the OS?
How can you set up the monitors to display the various programs that you will wish to use simultaneously?
    Software is a major consideration.
Matrox (and others) have solutions for additional monitors beyond the physical capabilities of generally offered graphics cards.
The caveat here, however, is support software is typically reserved for Windows and Linux systems.
Matrox has a single 8 display card:
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/graphics_cards/m_series/m9188pciex16/
Matrox has solutions specifically targeting the finance market:
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/solutions/trading_analyst/
Though the Mac Pro has more than adequate processing power, I think that you will find (through research) that building a solid machine capable of using several multi monitor cards is going to be what you will need to support more than 8-10 monitors with conventionally offered hardware.
    Fun stuff:

  • Will Remote Desktop allow me to access and use my Mac Pro 2009 from my MacBook Pro 2011?

Own a small business, have two locations, I need to use Windows via Parallels on my Mac Pro 2009, but I am forced to spend most of my time at the other location which has a MacBook Pro 2011. Will Remote Desktop allow me to use the MacBook Pro 2011 to access the Mac Pro and use Windows via Parallels?

If all you need is to be able to control another computer, then ARD would be overkill. If the systems have Mac OS X 10.5 or later you can use the Screen Sharing built into those versions of Mac OS X to control the system.
Another and perhaps easier option is to use a service such as LogMeIn or TeamViewer. Either option may be significantly easier than dealing with screen sharing or ARD.
You'll want to confirm that any solution you choose will work with Parallels, of course. I haven't tried remote control of a system to use Parallals, so there may be special considerations there. If you don't get useful comments here, you might try Parallels' forums.

  • UCCX 9 IPPA Remote Monitor using rmon.aef

Question, can you utilize the rmon.aef script to remote monitor agents that use IPPA at a remote site? Trying to figure out ways to monitor an agent in this scenario since SPAN and Desktop Monitoring can't be utilized given that they're using IPPA and are remote from UCCX. Thoughts?

There are lots of reasons why monitoring and recording can fail in an environment.
There are also lots of troubleshooting steps to verify a working environment as well.
You can start by searching these forums for terms like "monitoring not working", "silent monitoring", "remote monitoring", etc.
You may even find, within those posts, links to configuration and troubleshooting documents, such as:

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/cad_enterprise/non_release_docs/voip-mon-troubleshooting.pdf
The most common issue is, your regions are G711, and the IP Phones are negotiating G722, which cannot be recorded.
To verify, when an Agent is on a call, double tap the ? button on the phone and read the codec.
If  it's G722, in CUCM, go to the Agent's phone, and switch the Advertise  G722 from Use System Default to Disabled, save and reset, try again.

  • Remote Monitoring System

    Hello Everybody!
I had been assigned a project on Remote Monitoring System. In this I have to develop a Software in which I can put my software on the server and can put a check on the client side. As well I can communicate with the client by normal messages and by voice messaging. The administrator could be able to have a total control on the client. My project guide had sugested to go for VC++. But I want to ahead with Java.
So if anybody can help me out how to proceed in Java.

    Lots of ways to proceed.
One of the easier ways would be to write two programs (client and server) that use sockets to communicate.
I'd write it something like this:
Server listens for UDP (Datagram) packets on port X.
Client sends a packet to server port X, and listens on port Y using ServerSocket.
Server receives packet and connects to client port Y using Socket.
    They exchange information.
Once the server knows who the client is (from the UDP packet), you can arrange any other streams you want, including streaming voice data and text messages.
Look at the java.net classes for a starting point.

    Hall Palm Desert,
if your Mac monitor has Thunderbolt ports, and the PC monitor is on the end of the daisy chain, then you might be able to do it by connecting your PC monitor’s VGA cable to a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter (e.g. Apple, NewerTech), connecting that cable’s Mini DisplayPort end to one of the Mac monitor’s Thunderbolt ports, and then connecting a Thunderbolt cable between the other port on the Mac monitor and your MacBook Pro.

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?
