Remoting via Iphone to Home Computer
Is there a "easy" way for me to remote desktop to my home system? I have found an application that i had to install on my home system and over a webaddress and password i was able to log on my home computer. BUT i was not able to view Video and it went really slow.
Is there a way to do this really simple????
Not really. Keep in mind that you are tring to transfer a great deal of information over an internet connection. Its going to be slow. Especially when you are trying to transfer video.
Also keep in mind that doing what you are trying to do involves creating HUGE security holes that most OS try like heck to close. The software that is out there uses pretty stout encryption to prevent malicious users from accessing those holes.
Short story is the way you are doing it is probably as good as its going to get.

Find music on home computer / transfer songs from iPhone to home computer
I have 3000 songs on my iPhone. I recently purchased a new hard drive for my home computer. Now my home computer iTunes account appears to have only 735 songs (I haven't purchased than many songs on my iPhone, most songs were downloaded from my old school CDs). I want to sync my iPhone with home computer (new hard drive) but don't want to lose 2000+ songs. Thought I could simply locate all music files and move them into iTunes library, but can't seem to locate complete music files (my computer should have close to 3000 song but am only fnding library with 738 songs).
Thanks for your assistance.
CJIf you can't find them on your computer and need to transfer them from your phone, you'll have to use 3rd party software such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac) to do so.

Remote Desktop to My Home Computer
LinkSys Wireless Router Model WRT110. Windows XP SR3.
On my home computer before I was connected to the internet with the WRT110, I was connected directly to my service provider's router, which provided a fixed IP for me. Hence, I was able to do a "Remote Desktop" connection to my home computer from work. Now that I am connected using the WRT110, I received a "local" IP (192.168.1.x) on my home computer and am no longer able to do a Remote Desktop. Is there a way that I can program my WRT110 to allow me to once again do a remote desktop, or is there a procedure whereby I may accomplish the connection? Thank you for the help. You need to forward port 3389 on your router for Remote Desktop...Also you have to Enable Remote Desktop on your XP Computer...

Ask your question.sync your iphone with home computer
how do sync iphone with an other computer?
when you turn off automatic sync in itunes, than you are able to sync your device with more than one computer (i sync my devices at home with a windows and at work with a mac)
difference is that you cant sync everything, cause like roaminggnome said, itunes will delete your iphone with the information/data which is in itunes, e.g. music, vids etc.
but you are able to trasnfer some data to your new/other computer to have it there too

but as i said, turn off automat sync in itunes before connect to another computer -

Hi there. I have an iphone 4, which is currently synced with itunes on my laptop. I also have an ipad 2 which is currently synced with a more powerful and storage capable home computer. I would like to know if there is a way to sync my iphone 4 with my home computer, without losing my messages, apps, and other info. I am using Windows 7 on both machines. I don't know if there is a way to "merge" both itunes libraries for this? Any help will be appreciated.
I synchronize my contacts and calendars across multiple computers (and iPhones) via iCloud, but all of the devices end up with the same versions.
I don't want our different mail accounts synchronized between computers, so I don't sync that with iCloud, but you can (I don't recommend it with your work computer).
You should be able to sync the music with iCloud.
Give it a try and see if that works for you. -
I had downloaded all of my itunes library to my iphone from my home computer, My home computer crashed and all my itunes library was lost but it is still on my iphone. Is there a way that I can take all the music on my iphone that is all of my music from my itunes from my old computer and download it to my new computer that I have another itunes on? I tried to sync the music on my iphone to my itunes and I could not figure out a way to sync the music without erasing all of the music on my iphone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For music that you've purchased from Apple that are on your iPhone you should be able to copy to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. Also if you are in the US then you should be able to re-download past music purchases for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For your own music that you've copied, then if you haven't got a backup on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work -
Why won' remote app for Apple tv work on my iPad or iPhone? Home sharing is turned on.
A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.
Make sure your router/computer allows access over the following ports
Port

Protocol
Used By
80
TCP
HTTP
AirPlay
443

MDNS (Win)
Bonjour/AirPlay

MDNS (Win)
Bonjour/AirPlay
Refer to your router manual/manufacturer for any settings that are specific to that model.
Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them -
Access Home Computer with MacBook remotely?
Hello,
I remember an application called apple remote access that worked for this. Is there something similar now, other than apple remote desktop. It seems like more than I need. What I'd like to be able to do is get files from my work computer in my office while traveling with my MacBook. Is there a simple way to do this via an internet connection?
Thanks,
Loriif all you want is access to your files then i would use sftp, just go to System Prefs->sharing->services, and enable remote login, then to access the files you can use an application such as Cyberduck, that can connect and access your files using SFTP
you will also need to setup up your home router to forward port TCP 22 to your home computer, your external IP will also most likely change as do most consumer lines do, so i would recommend getting a client and name from dyndns.org
with all that setup you can just enter the domain your got from dyndns.org into cyberduck selecting SFTP and enter your username/pass and you will just be able to access every file on your home computer from anywhere with no IP to remember
BTW SFTP is like FTP, but everything is encrypted and it uses only one port (TCP 22) so is easier to setup your firewall/router -
Working fine on Itunes at Home Computer but can´t Download on iPhone/Touch
feed: http://www.podcasts.ideasauditivas.com/podcast.xml
Hello, maybe im taking this a little bit to fast since i just posted the podcast last monday night´s, but i've already recived iTunes aproval, the podcasts it's already working and listed available on itunes, searching it and downloading it on a home computer, now i can see it listed from iphone/touch itunes app but either clicking on it or trying to click on the "free" button to listen or downloading it redirects me exactly to that same page, i mean the page where i can see my episode next to the "free" word.
Thx for Support hope to read from you soonThank you for the answer i brushed up a little bit my feed until www.feedvalidator.org threw me an ok valid feed answer. Now i can open and download my episode from iphone, however i dont know actually if it was a matter of an imperfect feed or it was just a matter of time for the podcast to be accesible via itunes app on iphone/touch.
Thnx for your attention. -
Stream library on home computer to iphone
Is there any way to stream music to your iphone from your home computer without transmitting the data to a third party server first? I understand how simplify media works, but that takes a lot of bandwidth and my ISP charges a lot for going over.
My question is whether or not there is an app that will allow you to access a shared library on a home network like you can with different laptops in itunes. I know this will only work at home, but that's basically what I'm looking for. A way to transmit audio to different speakers in my house from my main desktop PC without having to put them onto my iphone first.Take a look at StreamToMe on the App Store. Converts most video formats on the fly and streams them from your Mac to an iPhone via wifi. If you have a TV cable for your iPhone you can use it as a 'media center'.

Cannot connect remotely to home computer
I would appreciate some troubleshooting help, with regard to my inability to connect to my home computer from my iBook, which is in a remote location.
At home, I have an iMac connected to DSL, using a Belkin router. I have opened up port 548 on the router, which is supposed to allow access to my files from outside the home network. I have also turned on file sharing in system prefs.
At work, I'm connected to the Internet via a Windows-based network (but using an iBook). I go to Connect to Server under the Go menu, type in the afp address of my home iMac that was indicated under the home machine's sharing prefs., but then nothing happens. Well actually, I get a message that the server can't be found.
I know my home computer is on (I made sure it wouldn't sleep), and I opened up the port that is for afp, so what could be the problem?
Thanks for your help.Could be something with that port. Have you tried Remote Login through shh to see if that worked?
If you allow remote login, you can use SSH (Secure Shell) to log in to your computer from another location.
You can't use Telnet to log in to the computer.
Open System Preferences and click Sharing.
Click Services and select the Remote Login checkbox. Selecting Remote Login also also enables the secure FTP (sftp) service.
Now you can use an SSH client to log in from another computer.
For example, if your user name is steve and your computer's IP address is 10.1.2.33, you can open Terminal on another Mac OS X computer and type:
ssh -l steve 10.1.2.33
Type "man ssh" at a Terminal shell prompt for more information.
See this Apple page for more:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh294.html
For Personal File Sharing do this:
1. Be sure you are already connected to the Internet.
2. Choose Connect to Server from the Go menu.
3. In the Address field, type either the IP address or the DNS name of the computer to which you wish to connect (Note 4).
4. Click Connect.
See this Apple Page for more.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107369
Also you may have a OSX firewall on or 3rd party firewall that is blocking this port.
Personal File Sharing uses 548, and 247 for it's ports. -
I would like to be able to download software updates on my Iphone and Ipad at work without erasing my music. My home computer/Itunes has all of my music saved. is there a way to use two computers w/o erasing information? Or can i transfer the music from my Iphone to my work computer?
- An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
- Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. -
Is there a software in which I can hook up my iPhone 4s to my computer and send and receive text messages and calls (via headset) through my computer? Whether it's free or cost money, can someone please give me a name of a program or software that allows me to do this? I can't seem to find anything like this for the iPhone.
No.
