Removable disk on zen mi

hi,
Is it possible to have more than the 2 gigs available to use has ?(if not, stupid question:can i (temporarelly) rename a big .zip file to .mp3 extension and then transfer it to zen micro so that i can use it has an alternati've "removable disk"?note that in this way removable disk mode would be off)

Incidentally, I have a question: Is there any reason to keep using that "removable disk" feature once you have upgraded to the PlaysForSure firmware? I mean, with that firmware, you can simply drag and drop files to the player even if it's not in "removable disk" mode -- so why would one need to use this mode anymore?

  • Removable Disk For Zen V P

I just bought a Zen V Plus & have tried to set it to GB for the removable disk. It went to 75% complete & just stayed there, I left it for about an hour & when I checked on it again, it still only said 75% complete.
How long should the process take? Is there a reason it gets hung up at 75%?

    Should take 2-3 hours.

  • Help with removable disk in Zen Mic

My Zen works well, but when I tried to use the removable disk feature, it was not picked up by the computer. Any help appreciated!

It was in removable disk mode when I plugged it in, and it detects it saying "found new hardware" and then it prompts me "welcome to the found new hardware wizard". It is not under my computer as any dri've, but when I plug it back in in regular mode, it is detected. Thanks for your help.

  • Zen Vision M 60GB removable disk on Vi

    Hi,
I want to use the removable disk function on my zen vision m 60gb at capacity 32GB. I can't do this on the player; it wants me to use the "Creative Removable Disk Manager" to set the capacity, but what looks like the setup for this program on the install disk won't run on vista, and I can't see any help for this on the site. Can anyone advise a way to let me use the 32GB removable disk function?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response,
The player has 8 options for capacity of removable disk, 52MB, GB, .5GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 6GB and 32GB. Changing it through the player itself, like you say, works for choices up to 8GB, but trying it on 6GB and 32GB the player gives the message "Unable to resize. Use the Creative Removable disk manager to resize." I've tried cleaning up and rebooting, I've tried formatting the removable disk section but no joy. I had the impression that this issue was common to all these players, because the size was too big to handle itself.

  • ZEN V PLUS REMOVABLE DISK MANAGER NONFUNCTIO

My Creative Zen v + installed software functions except "Removable Disk Manager". Removable Disk Manager says: PLEASE SET YOUR PLAYER TO REMOVABLE DISK MODE and connect your player. It tells me this even when I am connected to comp. Also, My Computer does not list it as a removable devise or anywhere. Disk manager has it listed as "MTP" and functioning well. Because of this problem I am assuming that this Player cannot be seen on any other comp except the one that has their software installed. Anyone have any advice? I also have a Zen Nano 52mb and a Digital MP3 52mb that I have no problems with. So I know that it is not my computer that has the problem. I have Wins XP Pro OS. Thanks for your Posts and advice. Disconnect the player from the computer first. Go to the Extra menu and you should see the Removable Disk option. Enter that mode and then connect it up with the computer.

  • Creative zen micro removable disk sp

When I go to copy files, on xp it will say cannot find specified file after a while of copying, different file every time, data is lost and someething. I re-format it every seperate time (I have to). I originally tried on ubuntu. Freezes after a couple hundred megabytes.
I would try to copy less files at once but I am hoping for an answer to make it more stable since I wanted to backup files not put them on the most precarious storage device I've ever used.
I think the hard dri've is wrecked again but just verifying.

sorry about the first post..dont know what happened... But anyways, hello. I have a problem with ymk removable disk. i put data that i NEED on there and i ahd to wipe my computer dri've. when i got it up and running again and it did the self install of the removable disk drivers it makes the ZEN MIRCO REMOVABLE DISK show up as a disk dri've and not a removable disk dri've. when i try to access it it says it needs to be formatted. I have uninstalled it and done it again (through device manager) and it still came up a a disk dri've..any idea how to fix this?

  • Petition: Zen Micro Removable Disk memory space up to 5

Hi happy owners of Zen Micro Player!
First of all, I would like to congratulate Creative for their Zen Micro Player which is really great. But as usual, customers still want the best and try to get a product that really answers their needs. That's why I'm writting this petition to improve the Zen Micro Player options.
I simply ask Creative to update a firmware in which it would be possible to set up the Removable Disk memory space up to maximum capacity that is 5Go instead of limiting it to 2Go!
So follow me, sign my petition and ask for more, ask for more USB mass storage memory!!!
    Thank you very much!
    Hello from France to everybody!

    you mean Gb, Gigabits.
And if you have firmware 2.00.2, connecting your player to any XP system will make it show up in "My Computer" as a removable device. You can browse it using explorer and drag&drop files as you wish. This means you can use up all of it's available space for files.
But, I think you got a point. It will not be recognized on 9x systems, unless you enable the removable dri've option, and it would be nice to be able to use it as a removable HD if you needed it.
    Consider this your first signature.

  • Will the Zen Micro removable disk work with a Mac Comput

I know that certain macs have a USB port, so is it compatible with the ZM removable disk? Can I plug my ZM into the Mac via USB port, and transfer files through the removable disk function?

Yes, the removable disk will work with the Mac.

  • Micro zen removable disk upgraded capacity, why only 4

Just upgraded my firmware, glad to see that it now has the option to increase my removable disk capacity to a max of 4GB.But where is the 2.5GB and 3GB option? Why jump straight to 4GB?
Wouldn't it be more logical to have that as most of the time, the mp3s in the player would be GB++, having just 2GB and 4GB options leaves us with little option to store music or recordings..Hope the next firmware upgrade would have this added feature

    ...... I don't understand.
You want 2 or 3 gig, then you complain about 4 gig not being enough?
Can you plz explain what the heck you are talking about...

  • Do you know how to remove the removable disk dr

i accidently pushed the removable disk so it used 28mb is there away to take that out

What mp3 player do you have?
In the Zen Micro it's Menu--> Extras-->Removable Disk--> and set how large you want it.
If you don't want to use Removable Disk, set it to Disable and let it delete that partition.
You will lose any data on it, so make sure you've backed it up if it's important to you.
Other mp3 players probably use a similar system for Removable Disk.

  • Using The Removable Disk Opt

Hey! I have a Creative zen Gb and I've turned 52Mb into a removable disk for storage and now I can't change it back to be 0Mb. I've deleted all the files in the removable disk and erased the free space but still it won't give me the option of reducing the size of the removable disk...
    Any ideas gratefully received.

Extras->Removable Disk, then press *and hold* the Back button till a menu appears. Then choose 'Disable.

  • Removing removable drive from Zen V P

    Hi
I have a ZEN V PLUS. In error, I created a removable dri've on it. I would like to remove it so that I can use the space but there is no way that I can figure out to do it.
When I choose Removable Disk from the Menu it just shows that I have a Removable Disk and it is 2 GIGs. I checked under Player Settings -- no way to do it there. Same for System Settings. I put a check mark beside Removable Disk in the Configuration Menu - still no luck in finding any way to remove the Removable Disk.
I have checked every menu and sub-menu -- no luck.
I thought I might be able to remove it through Windows Explorer but the Removable Disk doesn't show in Explorer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
Thanks for getting back to me BUT, The ZEN V Plus must have a different Menu system than the Microphoto. When I go to Extras and choose Removable Disk, it shows that I have a Removable Disk and it is 2 GIGs but there is no option on that screen to do anything. Pressing the Select button on the player does nothing. There are no sub menus at this point and the only thing I can do is press the Back Button to get back to Extras.
I went to the Player Settings from the Main Menu and selected the Configure Menu and put a check mark beside Removable Disk. Now Removable Disk shows up as a choice from the Main Menu but, when I select it, it just shows me the same as before that I have a Removable Disk. But there are no options available on that screen. Pushing the Select Button does nothing. The only thing I can do there is press the Back button to go back to the Main Menu.
Has anybody run into this problem specifically with a ZEN V Plus and been able to solve it's
    Thanks

    Hello NewUser2,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
You still need to put the device in Removable disk mode. Here's how to do it:
In the main menu, select Memory Card.
    Select Removable Disk.
Connect your player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Your memory card appears as a removable disk under My Computer in Windows Explorer.
Use the drag-and-drop method in Windows Explorer to copy files to and from your memory card.
When you have finished copying files, safely disconnect your player using the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar.
    Warning!
DO NOT disconnect your player, or attempt to remove the memory card, when files are being transferred. Disconnect the player only when file transfer is complete.
    Notes
When you select Removable Disk, you view the contents of your memory card only, not the contents of your player. Playback stops when you select Removable Disk.

  • Changing Removable Disk Sp

Hello... I have a new 6GB Zen Micro...and a teenager who's been working on getting it up and running...for some reason she set up the Removable Disk Space as 2GB and has since started to sync about 200 songs to the Zen...we want to put the full 6GB to music, since that's all she'll use the Zen for...if we change the alloted space now, I think we'll have to reformat? If we do this, will it totally delete all of her music she's already loaded? Thanks for any help or suggestions!
Message Edited by cooperdogrocks on 02-3-2006 05:34 PM

I believe that you can scroll through your Menu to get to Removable Disk and then click <i>Removable Disk </i> and select <i>Disable</i>. It will take some time to reallocate the space, but once it's done, you should have your full capacity.
If you'd like to reserve some space you can select from 28 Mb and up.
