$15 for the kit $40 for assembled. I made the same thing for like $.05. Took some cat5E cable, one had a broken end so I cut that off and it become the monitor lead.
I set it up with a desktop, router, laptop. Ran ping -T to router and captured it all on the laptop.
Connect 2 systems to the blue cable, the monitor system connects to the gray cable.

No. This requires completely repartitioning the SSD. You can do that only by using the Network Recovery method or the method I outlined. My method preserves all your data and doesn't require doing a slow Network Recovery. But if you wish to do that instead. The purpose of the whole exercise is to "clean" the SSD of garbage collected during use that tends to cause the SSD to slow down as you've described.
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button. Set Zero Data - one-pass, click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

Don't use Black Magic or Matrox MXO2

To all professional users at broadcast stations: Do not use video interfaces by Black Magic Design (see this link: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3640669#3640669) Also do not use the Matrox MXO2. These cards are not working with CS5. Your PC will become highly unstable. Do not expect your dealer, Adobe or Matrox to solve your problem. You'll end up in a neverending loop when trying to get help. At best these companies will try standard procedures with small steps that just won't make any difference. They will not follow up on your case and do close the case after two days. We have tried to hire engineers to fix our systems but that request was denied. For editing, try stick with Avid if possible, never mind how little options it has; it works. For compositing with AE, use a Mac. Dvd authoring is also best done with Mac only software; Encore is not a professional solution. I forgot the app name. Thanks for reading.

Maybe remove your matrox tools and drivers and hardware and try again. I removed my Matrox MX02 and my system is fast and stable and with the BM. I think a PC is just as good as any Mac and I am sure is faster if you have the correct hardware and is setup correctly. I visited a editor who edits on a Mac Pro FCP for TV shows and realized that mac is not what everybody rants and raves about the time it took him to complete what he was doing, I could have done it much quicker. I do agree Mac's are good for certain applications but so they should be at the price they sell for. IMO bang for buck nothing can come close to PC and CS5.
I would get in touch with one of the PC Builders on this site and Ask for help as I believe there is nothing wrong with Adobe CS5 and the PC format.

Black Magic extensions

I have a nMP and nothing from Black Magic on my computer. When I run Etrecheck I find that I have those extensions seen here in the rapport. They seems to be from the year 2011 probably remnants after earlier migration. Since they are in the System folder I am very hesitant to remove them. This is not causing trouble on my computer but I do not like extra stuff I do not need. Should I remove them or just leave them where they are ?

I think I would set up the PCI slots with Expansion Slot Utility as: 1 X 16 lane, 1 X 8 lane , and 2 X 1 lane, then install the card in one of the 1 lane slots. That way, when (or if) you decide you need more umpf to your storage sub-system, you can add an external SCSI or FC array and mount the SCSI or FC card in the 8 lane slot.
Be sure to follow the suggestion on that page to stripe three of your internal drives together for media, keeping your boot volume separate from the other three. You should get enough throughput for one stream of uncompressed HD, but not two streams.
But then, I would have recommended spending more money, and buying the Aja KonaLH instead, then capturing and editing in DVCPRO HD instead. But that's my personal preference, FWIW.

Black magic card a/v settings for capture??????????????????????

So I have a black magic intensity pro card. I am trying to use it with my JVC HDV 720p 60fps camcorder. I know I need to lower the setting to have it actually work without a ton of raid cards and so I have the "A/V Settings" set to:
Sequence preset: Black magic HDTV 720p 60 - Jpeg
Capture preset: Black magic HDTV 720p 60 - Jpeg
Device Control preset: Non-controlable device
Which is what everything I have read has said to do, but it refuses to work I get an error saying there is no video coming through the audio meeter does not even bounce in preview. It is not the cables I have tested both. What else could it be?

I also have the intensity settings in the mac system preferences set to y, r-y, b-y video & analog RCA Audio.
I am still stumped!

Black Magic Intensity Pro Play only Audio when edit in CS 5.5

Hi i have an problem, when i try to edit with Black Magic Intensity Pro in premiere CS5.5
i can play only Audio but not Video so i check settings on Premiere and control panel for
Black Magic Intensity and everything is OK and i check connections the preview is connect
via HDMI cacle and Composite Video/Audio and in both cases i get only Audio but no Video
so what is the problem? An driver for Black Magic Intensity Pro issue or what?

What is the BEST cable connection from Canopus ADVC 300 to Black Magic Intensity Pro HDMI PCI Express Capture Card?

I must connect an ADVC 300 to a Black Magic Intensity Pro HDMI PCI Express Capture Card. For best quality, which cable should I use?
On the ADVC 300 there are outputs of firewire, S-VHS and RCA.
On BMPro it's a little confusing. On the breakout cable there are connectors that say:
-5 B-Y OUT
-4 Y OUT
-3-R-Y OUT
-7-R-Y IN
-8-Y IN
-9 B-Y IN
-15 AUDIO IN RIGHT
-10 AES/EBU OUT
-12 AUDIO LEFT OUT
-14 AUDIO LEFT OUT
-13 AUDIO RIGHT OUT
With the BMPro, there is also a separate, shorter cable. On one end it looks like S-VHS and on the other there are two connectors, one black and one blue.
On the actual BMPro Express card strip instead of using the breakout cable, there is HDMI IN (and HDMI OUT).
How should I connect this? Is there an adapter cable of FIREWIRE TO HDMI?

Well, when I researched how best to digitize VHS (into Final Cut Pro 7), I learned two of the best devices to use are BMPro and Canopus ADVC 300. I’m using the ADVC 300 for the built-in time base corrector. I definitely want to use that to stabilize the video. I also read how well BMPro improves image quality. So, I thought to use the two together must produce outstanding quality (well, as good as VHS can be).
Perhaps I got confused into thinking I can use both. But the BMPro appears to have an S-VHS adapter.
I guess I’m wondering what is better quality:
Run the firewire from the Canopus ADVC 300 converter directly into the firewire port on the Mac Pro
Or, run an S-VHS cable from the Canopus ADVC 300 into the BMPro Capture card
(I should mention that I have purchased all these items and already have the BMPro Card installed so at this point it’s not a cost issue, but rather an issue of simply which works best?)

Hello im using an SDI to analog converter box from black magic and since i was using it to test some other stuff I guess i got the code worng now but don remember what it was. As of right now its only displaying some lines although i can kinda see through and im seeing what the back ground is and it its what im trying to display.

I wanted to let you know that I made a practice dvd today, sampling edited clips from four different sources of imported vhs video--some of it 16mm dubbed to video around 20 years ago--into iMovie. I worked in the update of 6 to see if the application had stabilized at all. I've been working only in 5.0.2 recently.
I was pleasantly shocked at how much better the video quality was than on the computer--as you foretold. I really couldn't tell a visual difference from the source videos. What a relief! But do you work with that disparity, the difference between computer and TV, without a live TV monitor as you go? It's hard to make decisions on the basis of how it looks on the computer.
Other encouraging news: the garble around the edges didn't show at all on the TV screen. In the meantime, I'd been trying the plug-in you recommended. I'm glad I won't need to it for all this video after all, but I'm curious to experiment more with it. Any other plug-ins you'd recommend?

Change the project settings to 16 or 32 bit. Drag some footage into the create new comp icon at the bottom of the Project Panel.
Your composition will exactly match the clip. If you check composition settings you'll see:

You'll probably want to create a custom output module for your blackmagic codec and set that to be the default. Remember to include audio processing if it's important to your workflow.

Quicktime not playing black magic codec files, or avi

Hello!
I'm on a new macbook pro (17"). my friend on an older mac laptop can play back a quicktime file in the player that has the blackmagic codec, but I cannot.
I can open the file and play it in final cut pro, I can see it in shake, but I can't play it back in the quicktime player. it shows up all white, but does list the codec as being the black magic 10 bit uncompressed codec.
I've downloaded the codec from black magic, and dropped it in /library/quicktime, but I'm not getting any result.
I've also tried "touching" the quicktime folder like they recommend, but nothing's working.
quicktime's also not playing back avi files, but I know that can be a bigger issue.
Any ideas?

The Blackmagic Software Codec.component I just downloaded today show it to be PowerPC. Your Intel Mac needs a Universal version or else you need to run using Rosetta.
Your .avi issue is probably the same reasons.

Yes, it's possible to use the Blackmagic Multibridge Pro with Premiere but it's also complicated to use the card with video and audio together.
I use a mac pro with the Multibridge Pro 1 and need to use an audio card too, because the card makes always problems with audio in Premiere CC.
In the audio hardware settings tab you have no selection possibility for the card. You have to select your standard system audio and to route this in Premiere. In your system audio panel you have the multibridge as standard card set.
Only for a short time it was possible for me to use the card with audio and video but after the last Premiere update I have to use the audio card again. I spend to much time in optimize my system to work well with the card and heard to many people have trouble with Premiere CC and the Multibridge Pro Card. In Premiere Pro it wasn't a problem at all...

Do you have any iPhoto plug-ins installed?
Open the folder /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Plugins/
To navigate to that folder, open the folder "Library" directly on your Macintosh HD, then inside the Library folder go to Application Support, then iPhoto. Is there anything installed?
