  • How do I add a song to my favorites Playlist without removing that playlist from iCloud

I just purchased a song on my computer and tried to copy the song into my "favorite songs" playlist but I get a warning that adding the song to the playlist will remove the playlist from iCloud and will only be available on the computer.  I don't understand why I can't add the song to my playlist and have it updated to my iPad2 and Iphone4S via iCloud.
    Any help is appreciated

    Figured it out,
If you get the "playlist will be removed from iCloud" notice then follow this steps.
Go ahead and add the song to the playlist you want.
    go to iTunes store.
log into your Apple account and go to Account
in the section titled iTunes in the Cloud you will see a link titled add this computer and it will reload the music including the playlists to iCloud.
Once it reloaded again I tried copying the song to another playlist and it worked. Listing the song on all my devices.

  • Given my phone fills up with playlists when I download playlists, how do I remove a playlist from the phone, WITHOUT removing that playlist from iTunes on my Mac?

How do I remove playlists from my phone while not removing the playlist from my itunes on my mac

As you've no doubt discovered, if you delete a playlist from your iPhone it deletes it from iTunes as well. To delete the songs you can swipe them and tap the "Delete" button individually, or you can switch to Album or Artist view and delete that way by tap-n-hold on the Album or Artist and tapping the "x." You can also delete all the music on your iDevice by going to Settings > General > Usage, tapping Music then swiping it and tapping the "delete" button.

  • Why when I removed smart playlists from my iPhone are they removed from iTunes?

So I was trying to remove some playlists from my iPhone then reload them so the sort order would be correct.  But after I removed the playlists from my phone then synced with iTunes, the playlists were removed from iTunes.  Why?  Can they be recovered?  I had a few I really liked.

    Hi Makki28,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iPhone. If you are having issues with incomplete transfers of your purchases from your iPhone to iTunes on your Mac, you may want to double check that you are following the steps as outlined in the following article:
Re-download or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer - Apple Support
If you are still having incomplete albums, you may also want to try directly redownloading the purchases from within iTunes, as noted in this article:

  • How do you remove a playlist from a folder?

Is there a way you can remove a playlist from a folder in iTunes? how do you do so? The playlists I want to remove are regular blue playlists, they're not the "smart" playlists. Please help
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hi, Carina, welcome to Apple's user-to-user discussion forums.
Grab the playlist you want to remove from the folder and push it all the way to the left. It should then move from the folder back to the list of playlists. Works for me.

  • How do you remove a playlist from the iPod but not the library

How do you remove a playlist from the IPod but not the library?

If it was originally on the camera roll try this: take another unimportant photo for test purposes, copy it to any special folder you have created within Photos, connect your iPad to your computer, locate it as any other external device, and most likely that Photos folder will be the only thing that will show up, locate the photo, delete it and then sync your iPad.
If the test photo is gone from the camera roll but still in another folder within the app then you know that the system works so go ahead with the process. I understand that there are other photo apps which might let you achieve your goal much quicker.
    Hope thi helps.

  • Itunes match has removed my playlists from itunes and my iphone. Not only that, many of the songs 'matched' on itunes do not show up on my iphone. Seriously annoyed, wish I'd never paid for it

Please read the title; itunes match has removed my playlists on itunes and iphone and the songs that are supposedly 'matched' on itunes are not showing up on my iphone.
    Any Really annoyed about this

iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud.  There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss.  Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus.  It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.

  • How do I remove a playlist from my iPod in iTunes

I have my iPod Nano configured in iTunes and I have about 10 playlists that automatically sync when I connect the iPod.  I'm running out of space so I want to delete a few playlist from those that sync to the iPod.  I used drag and drop to put them on the iPod but when I highlight the one I want to remove I can't find anyway to remove it.

Why don't you delete playlists in iTunes and sync to iPod Nano again. It works for me.

  • Option to keep app data when removing an app from iPhone

I'm sure this has been asked for before, but are there any plans to add this feature?
It would be nice to be able to remove an app (after all I only have 16gb of space and can't keep adding new apps) and have iTunes keep a back up of it's data so it's restored when you re-add the app.
The iPhone is overtaking devices like the PSP and DS in game sales, so it's clear that a lot of people use the iPhone for gaming. With other portable games consoles, you can choose what games you want to take with you when you're out and about without fear of losing saved games if you decide to leave one at home. It would be a great feature if you could add and remove games at will just as simply as adding or removing playlists. After all, you can remove a playlist from your device to make room, but can always re-add it later.
As I said before, I'm sure lots of people want this feature, but all I want to know is if it is in the works or not.
    Thanks for reading.

I agree it would be a very nice feature; the iPhone's syncing and data backup capabilities are very limited compared to devices that have preceded it like Palms and even the HP handhelds of 15 years ago. However, you won't get an answer here because this is a user forum and Apple does not respond to posts.
The good news is that the API allows app developers to save data and transfer it to your computer either by over the Internet, by wire or WiFi, and some app developers have incorporated backup features into their apps. The bad news is that the process is manual, for each app, and that the process is not the same across apps.

  • Why can't I delete a playlist from my iPhone without it being deleted on my kids iMac?

I consolidated music on my Macbook pro with my family iMac using iTunes Match. What I can't understand is that I can't "turn off" certain playlists. When I deleted some of my daughters' playlists from my iPhone, it removed the playlist from the iMac. Am I missing something? I had over 100 playlists  listed, many of which I will never use. I can't imagine that Match isn't more versitile.

Now that you mention it, my parents don't need to see my playlists, either.  Hadn't thought of that.
I accidently stumbled on an "ad-hoc" workaround that helped me.   The downside is that it only works with smart playlists so it may or may not work for you.  But here it is anyway:
Smart playlists will not be uploaded to the cloud if they refeence another playlist on the cloud.  So I created a "catch-all" smart playlist and added a reference to that in all the smart playlists I don't want to share.
I also noticed that playlists with more than just music are not uploaded.  You could add a short video or something to the playlists that are only for the iMac.  This obviously won't work if your daughter needs them on her iDevice.
I know these aren't good solutions, but I hope they help someone.
    Cheers,

  • Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists.  Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER.  How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it).  This happened around the time of the new update.  I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information?  Without doing a restore?  It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • How do I remove an entire "local" playlist from my divide without messing up the cloud?

I have a couple of playlist on my iphone with the songs on the device.  When i'm in itunes, the music tab for the iphone now says the songs are in the cloud and to manage it from the device.  If I swipe there is a "delete" on the playlist.  What does this do?  The same delete shows up on the "cloud" only playlist as well.  I'm concerned if I delete it from there it will wipe it from the icloud, my main mac or something.
How's it supposed to work to remove the local copy?
    Thanks.

    Michael,
Thanks for the response.  I haven't played around with an album, only individual songs.  When I deleted an individual song on my iphone (with match active), it totally synced to delete that song from my "base" computer and from other devices synced with the cloud/match.  Is it the same way with an album?
That's not possible. What you describe is not all the way iTunes Match is designed to work. I think you may be misinterpreting something because deleting a downloaded song from your iDevice will not delete it from all other iDevices and a computer. That's just not the way the service is designed to work.

My example is...right now I'm syncing a bunch of Christmas music to be on my iphone.  The "match" download method is too slow so I synced directly with itunes (with match off), then turned match back on so it leaves the songs on the device.  When Christmas has passed, I'd like to re-claim that space on my device and remove the songs.  The only way I see it without totally deleting all of the songs (as happened to me above) is to turn match off, re-sync to itunes and wipe the device that way.  Just wanted to make sure anyone reading this knew my motivation.
I've done a little more investigating and it seems that deleting a playlist from an iDevice deletes it from the cloud as well, which means it is removed from iTunes, but it apparently does not delete the downloaded songs. So what you can do is go to Settings > Music and turn off "show all music." This will only display the music that has been downloaded to your iDevice and allow you to delete them by Album or by Artist by the tap-n-hold method. There may be other ways to do this, but that's the one I've discovered so far.

  • How do i delete a video or playlist from apple tv without removing those items from itunes

I don't know how to control content on apple tv. The only way i know to remove a playlist or a certain video from apple tv is to remove the corrisponding playlist or video.
how do i manage files on apple tv

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Depends which Apple TV you have.
On the Apple TV 1 you can uncheck it in iTunes, on the Apple TV2 you can't remove it, you can however give the content a parental rating and manage what content is restricted for playback using parental controls.

  • I cleared a playlist on my iPhone 4 because I wanted to remove the songs from my phone's storage (I had previously downloaded them) because I wanted to clear storage space. I now want to access the playlist via iCloud and can't. Thoughts?

I cleared a playlist on my iPhone 4 because I wanted to remove the songs from my phone's storage (I had previously downloaded them) because I wanted to clear storage space. I now want to access the playlist via iCloud and can't. In other words, I want it to sync with the playlist as it exists in iTunes Match. Thoughts?

Export Photos and Videos from Camera Roll to your computer.
    Empty Camera Roll.
Make a Folder/Album with all photos and videos you want to have in your iPhone and sync them through iTunes.
This will free up space in your iPhone and your iCloud.
The backup of Camera Roll in iCloud is only to restore your iPhone. You can't access them directly.
