Remove 10.2.0.4 patchset software

Hi,
I have patched and upgraded a 10.2.0.1 database to 10.2.0.4 patchset, leaving the COMPATIBLE init parameter set to 10.2.0.1. Before doing so, I haven't backuped the Oracle Home directory. Now I'd like to revert the patchset, thus returning to the 10.2.0.1 version.
In the 10.2.0.4 Database Patch Set Notes, chapter 11. Removing the Patch Set Software, it is reported that I should restore the old ORACLE_HOME from backups. I also searched on metalink and found the same answer. Then I thought of this: Is there any difference if instead of restoring the database software from backup, I perform a new fresh 10.2.0.1 installation in a new oracle home and use that instead of the one I should have backuped in the first place?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Regards,
Jure

Any specific reason for reverting back? The production database is on 10.2.0.1 (I know, we should upgrade....) and the test database was upgraded from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4. Now there's a requirement to periodically refresh the test database from prod, and I thought using RMAN's DUPLICATE DATABASE would be the easiest and fastest solution. The problem is that I can't duplicate across different versions (using Datapump's export/import would be an option, but it's much more time consuming).
Now, since I'm going to wipe out the current test database anyway, it actually doesn't mater if I make a fresh 10.2.0.1 installation or revert the 10.2.0.4 back to 10.2.0.1, but I think it its good to know if it's possible to revert when not having the original OH backup. I mean, what could I do if e.g. I make a backup of OH, but then that backup gets damaged....
and more over you can't use the datafiles either, you need to restore the entire DB (OH+datafiles)But if I understood the Patch Set Notes correctly, it's necessary to run two scripts which perform the necessary downgrade actions (also on the datafiles) which make datafiles "usable" for 10.2.0.1 SW:
+11 Removing the Patch Set Software+
The catdwgrd.sql script enables the user to restore the Oracle Database installation of the database back to the original 10.2 release that the user backed up before applying the patch set. The catdwgrd.sql script is run in the 10.2.0.4 Oracle home to perform necessary downgrade actions. After the 10.2.0.x release is restored, the catrelod.sql script is run from 10.2.0.x Oracle home to reload the 10.2.0.x release packages and views.
And step 5 of the described process states:
Restore the Oracle10g installation and Central Inventory that you backed up before applying the patch set.
This is where I'd like to use a fresh 10.2.0.1 SW installation.

Jure

  • HT4623 I got the IOS 7.1 update and I don't like it. Is there any way that I can remove the update and return my software back to the way it was before I got the update?

I got the IOS 7.1 update and I don't like it. Is there any way that I can remove the update and return my software back to the way it was before I got the update?
Please, I really wnat to change my phone's sofeware back to IOS 7.0.6. I really don't like the IOS 7.1
PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE THE IOS 7.1 DRIVES ME INSANE!

Even though it wasn't me who started this thread i would like to say that i hate iOS 7.1 too
    They're back! The IOS haters.
When you get a call it has some small icons of reminding and message and one white ugly "slide to answer" bar.*** seriously?
People complained about the green bar in IOS 7.0.3. You can't please everyone with everything. Deal with it and move on. Or you can just get a Droid phone and suffer through the bizarre interface changes.
A lot of people would really appreciate a release with the old interface back.
People complained about every interface change that Apple has tried. As I said earlier, you can't please everyone with everything. The interface is what it is, learn it, deal with it, or move on to something more to your liking. I think they still make flip phones.

  • How do I remove the pre-installed Microsoft Office software from my T61 running XP-Pro?

I've reviewed the Lenovo support item on uninstall instructions but it does not say how to get the software off of my hard drive.  Here's the Lenovo item.
To properly uninstall Microsoft Office 2007 Trial from the Lenovo preload, the following applications must be removed.
    2007 Microsoft Office System
Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office Suites
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007
    Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
    MS SQL Server 2005
    MS SQL Server Native Client
MS SQL Server Setup Support Files
    MS SQL Server VSS Writer
Uninstalling the Microsoft Office 2007 Office System will not remove all the components.
Uninstalling Business Contact Manager for Outlook will also uninstall MS SQL Server Components. During the uninstall routine, it will ask to delete the mail data file that contains the Business Contact Manager. Clicking OK, will remove the BCM, but not the SQL server apps, as the uninstall states.
    From this point uninstall:
    Activation Assistant,
    MS Office 2003 Web Components
MS Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies,
MS Office Small Business Connectivity Components.
Then remove the MS SQL Server Components of server native client, server setup support files, and VSS writer.
Then remove the Activation Assistant shortcut from the desktop.
The first 3 apps listed are not installed because I have not run the activation assistant for the Office trial that came with the T61.  Add/Remove programs has only these pre-installed apps:
    Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
    MS SQL Server 2005
    MS SQL Server Native Client
MS SQL Server Setup Support Files
    MS SQL Server VSS Writer
Is the activation assistant one of them?  I want to inactivate it because it is occasionally triggered somehow.  Besides unintalling those preinstalled apps, I want to take all of the Office components off of my hard disk.
Add/Remove also has these apps but I'm thinking they are not part of Office -- please correct me if I'm wrong
    Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
    Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard 1.52
FYI, I am using Lotus Suite and OpenOffice.
How do I tidy this up without creating more trouble?  Thanks in advance for suggestions.

No, AFAIK should be listed as Microsoft Office Suite Activation Assistant

  • I cannot install either iTunes 10.5 or QuickTime 7.7 after having removed the previous installation of both softwares from my Win 7 64 bits.

Hi folks. I hope someone can help me out.
I had iTunes 10.4 and QuickTime Player 7.7 running pretty well on my notebook (a Dell Vostro 3550 with Win 7 Pro 64-bits) and followed many of the pieces of advice on how to upgrade to iTunes 10.5, including uninstalling all Apple software from my computer and trying to install them again from the very beginning.
First, I tried to uninstall/remove all Apple Softwares as suggested on the post http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. But I was not able to remove the Apple softwares through ContolPanel -> Software -> Uninstall/Repair/Remove. The softwares removal stops due to "lack" of  Admin access permission to certain keys in Windows registry: xxx/Unistaller/Media, etc. I got this message trying to remove iTunes, QuickTime, AppleSoftwareUpdate, AppleMobileDeviceSupport. I can assure you that I do have Admin privileges on my notebook and I also shut down any protection tool (Win Firewall, Norton 350, etc.) that might be running during the softwares removal. None of the solutions seemed to work, but I could recover my previous installation of iTunes 10.4 and QuickTime 7.7 and got them running just fine.
Then I tried to uninstall iTunes and QuickTime using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and the Fix It Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall) as also suggested on one of the many posts I have read in Apple Communities. The softwares were all removed, however, even by getting the new installation packages of iTunes 10.5 and QuickTime 7.7 from Apple's web sute, I can't install any of them. I tried to do it with previous versions too, but nothing seems to work. And now, I can't even recover my previous installations of iTunes and QuickTime. I simply cannot have iTunes installed on my notebook.
It seems the only way to sort it out is reinstalling Win 7 and all other applications I have from the very beginning, which is a nightmare and will take days.
Any suggestions? I couldn't have any info from Apple Tech Support untill now.

what if they are turned off?  I cannot install iTunes or QuickTime Pro 7 on my WIN7/64 Lenovo W520. ran all the repair cycles uninstalls, reinstalls about 10X each, no luck

  • Can't Change, Add or Remove Outlook Contacts Folder in Desktop Software

I’m using version 7.1.0.41  of the BlackBerry Desktop Software. I recently created a new updated PST file in Outlook 2010. When I looked at the BlackBerry Desktop Software Contacts Configuration by going to Organizer, then  Contacts – Microsoft Outlook: Configure…, Advanced Options: Advanced: Folders, I saw that the Desktop Software had defaulted to the default Contacts folder in my new Outlook profile. This wasn’t the Contacts Folder I had been using with my BlackBerry Curve 9320, so I chose “Select different contacts to sync”, double-clicked on my new Outlook Profile at the Root Level then selected the Contacts Folder I had used previously.
I found I could not use the Green Add button to add this folder and I couldn’t use the Red Remove button to delete the existing Main Contacts file. If I double-clicked on the Contacts folder which I wanted to use, the correct file path showed under “Select different contacts to sync”. However once I clicked OK and then returned to the Advanced Options, I found that it had reverted back to the original default settings.
I did notice that Outlook’s main Contacts file which I don’t want to use has a “Contacts” icon while the contacts Folder I want to use has only a generic folder icon. Under “My Contacts” in Outlook, however, all my Contacts files have the same icon. If I try to sync now, the Desktop Software wants to add all the contacts from my main Contacts group to my BlackBerry, which I don’t want. This all worked just fine before I updated my Outlook PST file.
Thanks for your help with this.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've now resolved the problem. I had an email folder name "Mobile Contacts" which was causing me to use the wrong path. I needed to open the folder with the Contacts icon to get to the next level down where the Contacts folder I wanted to use was.
I couldn't add, remove or delete the folder I was attempting to use because it was actually an email folder, not a contacts folder.

  • How do i complexly remove previous cs6 trial download files/software in order to download a more

how do i completely remove previous cs6 trial downloads from the computer where we have multiple users downloading adobe trials periodically?

    Hi lottolord1,
You can use the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to remove the previous trial downloads.
Note : Trial periods can't be extended. After a trial expires, you need a serial number to install the software as a licensed version. Or, you can install trial software on another computer.

  • E 9 REMOVING PHOTOS FROM HARD AND E9 SOFTWARE

I have Elements 9.  When I upload from a SD card to Elements 9 and then after review want to delete many unwanted photos I click right click on the highlighted pictures, [most of the time, several hundred photos at once] and click on "Delete from Catalog..." and then check "Also delete selected item(s) from hard drive" it takes an hour or more to delete the selected items or it just crashes.  It should be noted that if I "Delete from Catalog..." without checking the box "Also delete selected item(s) from hard drive" the process goes very quickly, within 60 seconds.  BUT I must develop a written list on a sheet of paper the items that I still must now delete from my hard drive and go into "My Computer", find the folder and then delete using my written list.  AND this also is very fast.  But what a pain to write down that many pic numbers [usually between 500 and 1600] to get the job done.  My PC has 1 terabit storage, 8 gig memory (ram), and GeForce GTS450.  Can you give some ideas as to where/how to fix?  Where to start looking would really help. Like could it be Elements 9, ram, the GeForce, or other, or a combination of something. Thanks t64425

Have a look at that post of mine in the Adobe feedback forum:
Elements 11 or 12 organizer : unable to delete a big number of files
I must say that in my case, not checking the deletion on the drive does not help.
Since that post, I have done a successful test in deleting 1100 items from a catalog of 53 000 items with PSE13 on a Win7 64 bits PC with 9 GB RAM. I believe the 64 bits option helps a lot, but the main factor is the amount of available memory. The deletion is very slow but in the worst case I get a message that the transaction has been aborted and I am back to the initial situation.
