Remove applications

Does anyone know how to remove application buttons from the screen on a iphone. I don't like having the the new iTunes application from the last upgrade.

Nonsense. Nobody can or will keep you from geoing back to 1.0.2 if you want, and there is no way Apple can force anybody, under any circumstances, to upgrade to 1.1.1, although they can ask you to upgrade before helping you troubleshoot any problem you may have. However, the idea that Apple, or anybody else could force you to upgarde in order to keep using your phone is complete nonsense.
We may also note that there are limits to Apple's control mania. It may be good to remember that this is your phone that you are using, and not Apple's. You bought it, and you can do whatever you want with it. Finally, with regard to that old scarecrow of the voided warranty that people love to throw around in here, Apple cannot legally void your hardware warranty unless you have tampered with the hardware, period.

  • Remove Applications from "Open With..." List

Ever since I installed Adobe Creative Suite, there have been countless applications available in the Open With... list for image file types (JPEGs, PNGs, etc.).
How do I remove applications from that list for a given file type?
    Thanks!

There are a whole bunch of mostly useless little droplets that are installed by Photoshop and ImageReady. You can either toss them all, toss all but the one or two you might use, or just zip them and then if you ever want one unzip, take what you want and rezip the others (I kept Make Sepia Tone.exe and zipped all the others, and put a text file with a list of them all in the parent folder). Here's the location:
    "/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS/Samples/Droplets"
There is one folder full of ImageReady ones, and another folder of the Photoshop ones. If you trash them you can also get them back from the install disk. After you zip or trash them restart the computer and your Open with list will be back to normal.

  • Add or remove applications from Startup in LION

We just did a migration from Tiger to Lion for our primary Mac user and now, on her new machine running Lion, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Entourage launch every time she starts up her PC.  Microsoft Excel was not even in her Startup on her old system.
I followed the instructions provided in this link:  http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#appstartup for adding and removing applications from a user's Startup in Lion.  For this user, there are no Microsoft 2008 applications listed.  She is the only user on the computer - there is a guest account that is shown but cannot be accessed or modified from the Users and Groups folder in System Preferences.
So, my question is:  Is there another way to see what would be the equivalent of the "Startup" folder in Windows on an iMac running Lion?  Or am I missing something?  How did Excel get into Startup?  How do I get it out?
    Marty

As it turned out,  I noticed that when you shut down or restart the computer, a question box comes up asking "Are you sure you want to restart/shutdown your computer now?"  There is a check box next to the option "Reopen windows when logging back in", which is checked by default.  I discovered that if you uncheck that box just one time, it will not attempt to open any applications that were open during any previous shutdown. It appears to sort of 'wipe the slate clean'.  That is how I got it to stop launching Microsoft 2008 applications on every startup even when they were not in the user's Login Items.  And they were not set for Open At Login.
This one led me a merry chase!  Thanks to all who responded.

  • How do I add or remove applications I have on my computer to Launchpad?

How do I add or remove applications I have on my computer to Launchpad?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To add applications to Launchpad, just drag the application to the Launchpad icon.
To remove applications from Launchpad, open Launchpad, hold the Option (Alt) key and press the X button above the application. This only works for App Store apps. To remove a non-Mac App Store application, you have to delete it in Finder

  • Remove applications from the "open with" menu

How do you remove applications from the "open with" context menu? I seem to have one instance of a program for every time it was "updated." So my "open with" menu has about 8 instances of Adobe Acrobat, 3 or 4 of Word, etc. It's obnoxious and cumbersom. Any idea how to edit this context menu? Thanks.

    hi joshua,
you can solve it in two ways:
1)open terminal and copy and paste:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/\
    Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister \
-kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
    enter and wait the prompt
    2) delete this files and restart
    library/caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxx.csstore
(more than one files with the xxxx i mean number)
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist

  • Removing Applications from BlackBerry Desktop Software: After deleting the app the app name still shows in BBDS

    Hello,
I have installed multiple 3-rd party applications on my phone through the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. I am attempting to remove certain applications from the list.
    Here is what I experience:
I click on Applications icon.  BBDS communicates with the phone and then displays a list of native applications. I click on Install/Remove button. A list of third party applications are displayed. I de-select an application and the hit Start. The phone is restarted. I can confirm that the application is removed from my phone, however, the application name is still displayed under Install/Remove applications. I even clicked on the app and highlighted the application but there is no option to remove the app from the list. When I click on Edit the delete option is disabled. My goal is to remove the 3rd party application from the list completely. Please help!

    Hello xhpx,
In  your media queries your changing the .gridContainer but the #LayoutDiv1 is the same. The reason the color goes away is the media query for mobile sizes doesn't have the background color. Though I would remove #LayoutDiv1 from any media query since it doesn't need to change.

    hope this helps.

  • (266436851) Q: WWSD-28 How to remove applications?

Q:<WWSD-28> Can applications be undeployed AND removed (ie. deleted) with the console
in WLS 6.1 or do you still need to edit the domains config.xml file manually?
A<WWSD-28> Applications can be undeployed from the console but this does not necessarily
remove the entry in the config.xml (other servers in the domain may still need
them). The simplest way to ensure removal is to undeploy and then also delete
the appropriate archive file (EAR,WAR,JAR) from the applications folder.

Was looking in the wrong Library, found SIMBL, and removed ZZafari.
ZZafari was installed by CosmoPod. Here's what CosmoPod's creators say (http://cocoamug.com/cosmopod/):
Important note about CosmoPod and Safari 5.1
The current version of CosmoPod is not compatible with the latest Safari 5.1. We are working on a fix and we will provide a free upgrade when it's ready. Thanks for your patience.
To uninstall CosmoPod, you can delete the following folder (quit Safari first) : /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CosmoPod.bundle.

  • HOW DO I REMOVE APPLICATIONS FROM WLS6 CONSOLE?

    Hi everybody,
I compiled an ejb into a jar file and ADDED it to the list of already
added applications through the WLS6 console (I have WLS6 installed on my Windows
    2000 machine).
    In the WLS6 console I clicked Deployments->EJB->Install a new EJB->Upload
(to add a new ejb jar file).
Now I wish to REMOVE (uninstall) this ejb from the list of added
    (installed) EJBs.
I tried to delete the jar file from the WebLogic folder where this
jar file was stored, but when I restarted WLS6 it displayed a panic that it was
unable to find the EJB component. So I had to undelete the jar file from the Recycle
Bin to the same WebLogic folder.
What I conclude is that although the ejb component got removed it
did not get UNINSTALLED .i.e some references to the jar file stayed on somewhere.
How do I remove and UNINSTALL my ejb?
Thanks in advance. As usual I am posting this everywhere to get attention.
As usual sorry for the multiple postings.

    Manual method:
Stop the server. Back up anything important.
There is a config.xml file that has an entry that points to your JAR. Delete
    this entry.
There is your JAR file. Delete this JAR.
There is data from/about your JAR in "do not delete" directory. Delete the
directory that says "do not delete".

  • How can I remove applications from the location service?

In System Preferences> Security & Privacy> Privacy> Location Services are applications that ask the system to use the position of the Mac
I realized, after uninstalling applications (Beta and Tweetbot Tweetbot 1.0MacAppStore and also Busycal)
    are not removed completely.
In place of the icon there is a sheet with the application name
Can anyone tell me how to clean this section?
Applications the uninstall utilizizzando CleanMyMac, AppZapper and CleanApp
but I did not get the desired result.
I also looked into the operating system, but I found no trace

You can't remove anything in that list - it is placed there by the system unfortunately. As long as you do not have any checked, nothing will happen. When I got my new MBP, I immediately unchecked the "enable location services" and assume that is the reason why there is nothing showing at all:
However, I have a number of applications listed in the Contacts section - I've not allowed any because I fail to see a valid reason why a word processing app or iMovie needs my Contacts.

  • App-V 5.0 no longer allows a manual or automatic publishing refresh to add and/or remove applications

We just received confirmation from Microsoft that there has been what we deem a major behavior change in App-V 5.0 from 4.x. With 4.x you could add a user to an AD group that is assigned to a virtual application then on the client machine the user could
right click the App-V icon in the system tray and choose 'Refresh Applications' and the app's icon would appear immediately. You could also wait for the configured automatic refresh time and the app's icon would be added immediately. Same applied is you
removed a user from an app group.
This is no longer the case in App-V 5.0 as there is only one way to get app to be added or removed from client and that is to have them log off and log back on. Like many organizations, we have users who do not routinely log off/log on, they just lock
their PC and unlock it. These people would never get a new app added or removed!
In the 5.0 client there is an 'update' button, but all this does is apply any changes to an already assigned application such as if you changed the icon name, and that only occurs after the default 10 minute publishing server to management server refresh
has occurred (although you can change this from 10 minutes to something lower).
My point is, in 4.6 you could add a user to a group and have them click refresh and the user had the app immediately or tell them to continue working normally and the new app icon would appear within an hour. We opened a case with premier
support and they confirmed that this behavior change is expected, although the engineer sounded shocked that this was the case and he seemed surprised this had not come up yet. Also, I recall that at TechEd 2010 the App-V team demoed the beta version
and one of the things the did was add a user to a group, click the then named refresh button and the app would appear.
As I mentioned above, in the RTM build this button has been renamed to 'Update' but its not just a name change, but a complete change from 4.6 and the 5.0 beta 1.  I have been unable to find any documentation from Microsoft pointing out this major
change in behavior, and the fact that a member of the App-V team that authored the KB about server publishing refresh times in App-V 5.0 was surprised to realize this change (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2780177) Is it just me or is this a major issue with 5.0?
This will  prevent us from migrating to 5.0. Any one know of a workaround or some other option?  If you want to see what I am talking about, log onto a machine with the 5.0 client, add yourself to an App-V 5.0 app group that you are not already
a member of, do not log off and you will see that you never get the app on your client. What a few hours if you want, it won't show up. Lock the machine and unlock it. Still now new app.  Now log off and log back on and only then will you see the new
app show up.  You can repeat this by now removing yourself from the group and waiting. The app will remain there until you log off/on.
