  • Firefox started crashing right at startup after I've detached a button from bookmark bar

firefox started crashign at startup after I've detached a button from bookmark bar. It doesn't start in safemode either.

That looks like a problem with the Taskbar previews.
It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I inadvertantly removed Bonjour from my pc. Now I'm attempting to upgrade Itunes to 10.7 for my 4S iphone.  Itunes will not upgrade because it can't find my original Bonjour. How can I reinstall my original Bonjour?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I remove top site preview from Bookmarks Bar

Last night received message from Safari asking whether or not to update Safari settings, which, in a pinch, unfortunately I did.  I now have a top site preview in my Bookmarks Bar and I do not want it there.  I have tried everything to get it out, including the most obvious: unchecking "show top sites" in Safari preferences, restarting Safari and computer.  Also, going to Utilities, Terminal and pasting in script for command found searching on subject.  Nothing works.  Does anyone know how to get this top site window out of my Bookmarks Bar?  I have spent a great deal of time on this and am quite frustrated as a result.  Thank you.

    Hi
so if you click/hold just above the 'address' text - or anywhere in that dark bluey-grey band above the column headings... you should be able to drag that upwards so that the site preview area disappears leaving only  the dark search bar.
Maybe it's not that - I didn't mention it right away because that 'setting'  is common to every bookmarks view/collection, rather than " The top site preview appears ONLY when I select "Show all bookmarks," and THEN select the Bookmarks Bar "
If not that, do remove the safari plist file - keep it safe & you can easily replace it with safari quit if there's no change. Safari will create a new, default version when it next starts.

  • Problems opening a New Tab in Safari from Bookmark Bar Folder

When I am in Safari and attempt to Open a link to a new tab from the Bookmark Bar that is part of a Folder on the Bookmark bar it does nothing.
I can change the preferences to auto-click for the Bookmark Folders, but then every link loads when I try to access the folder from the Bookmark Bar. Very cool to see lots of pages loading at once, but not what I'm after. Doesn't seem to be a way to just load 1 link from the folder
If its a single link on the Bookmark Bar that has not been organized into a Folder it does work.

You know what? - my Safari works just the same way.... but I'd never noticed before.
I've used apple-click to open single bookmarks from the bar, many times. But have always ( for no particular reason) opened a new tab first ( apple-T ) if I've been looking for bookmarks within a folder.

  • Remove name from menu bar + possible bugs?

Hello, I was wondering if it were possible to remove my name from the Menu bar. It currently says my full name and is clickable, dropping down to my icon and a link to the Login Window and Users & Groups Preferences (but there's no option to remove it in these preferences!) Thanks!
Also, Is there a thread where we can post bugs we come across? Becuase I've found a couple.
I'll post them here for now:
    1) When I go into Finder > Preferences, the menu box flickers strangely when I switch between the option tabs (General, Labels, Sidebar, Advanced).
    2) Scrolling left and right through folders in the Column view is hesitant. It doesn't flow smoothly like it does when I scroll up and down.
If there's anywhere I can report these bugs, please let me know!

    name from menu bar:
the easy way: hold command and then drag the name icon out of the menu bar (just like how you remove stuff from the dock with the difference of pressing command while you do it).
the less easy way: open system prfs -> Users and groups [press locket if locked] then click login options and uncheck fast user switching menu

    Hi Simran
    1. You can get proper variable without decimal point.
    2. Use function "FLOOR" and get the output value assigned to variable defined in step 1.
    data : wv_wh_no type p decimals 0 .   -
you take as per your requirement
    Let say,
    wv_dec_no = 1.0001.
    w_no = FLOOR(wv_dec_no).
    Hope it will help you.

  • How do I remove things from my bar at the bottom??

I have just bought my first mac and im struggling I have clicked 0n console, terminal, keychain access and grapher and theyve all stayed on the task bar at the bottom. How do I remove them??

    Removing items from the Dock
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon off the Dock onto the desktop; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. Don't worry, you didn't permanently remove the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back on the Dock, you can easily locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder, and drag it back into the Dock. Keep in mind that there are some icons that you can't remove, such as the Trash and the Finder.

    Best.

  • Remove item from menu bar.

    To keep this short...
Installed Norton Personal Firewall. Turns out it is not compatable with Intel Macs. I uninstalled Norton, removed it from the start-up items, but I cannot find a way to remove the Norton icon from the menu bar. Apple + drag does not work.
    Any suggestions?

Nothing in login and I went to the link and downloaded what I thought would be the appropriate un-installer. When I opened the un-installer it opened in Text Edit and looked something like a bunch of crazy symbols.
I used the un-installer that came with disk and after I hit un-install, I got a message that just read "error" over and over, but the icon in the menu bar was gone. However, the next time that I started the MacBook I was greeted with a prompt that I installed software that could pose a security risk and that I should re-start the computer. I did eventually re-start and the icon is now back in the menu bar which I believe would indicate the Norton is still on my MacBook...somewhere.....what the heck!?

  • HT5372 Bookmarks vanish from bookmarks bar. Why?

In my icloud account several folders on my bookmarks bar suddenly vanished. First only on my mac, now on all my devices. Why could that be? How do i get them back? Some were work related.

    HI,
You can restore your Bookmarks if you use the Backup software included with a MobileMe account.
Look in your Applications folder for the Backup application.
In the future, using Safari, from the Menu Bar, click File/Export Booksmarks and save that file to an external source like your iDisk so that you have that list of Bookmarks to Import back to Safari from.

  • Launching applications from bookmarks bar

I know that Safari prefs can be set so that 'Address Book' appears in the Bookmarks Bar, and can be launched from there.
I also know that if any URL is bookmarked, and its address changed to 'AddressBook:////' (no space in AddressBook) -- and its name changed as desired -- that the item which appears in the Bookmarks Bar will launch Address Book.
And that if any URL is bookmarked, and its address changed to 'dict:////' -- and its name changed as desired -- that the item which appears will launch Dictionary.
But I have not found other applications that respond in a similar manner.
And I don't understand what ':////' is all about.
How might one go about creating a Bookmarks Bar item that would launch, for example, TextEdit?
    TIA

    ahh, I see....
you could save yr script as an application bundle, then modify the info.plist so it shows as handling particular url's - details here.
editing the plist is easy enough, and I can get safari to be aware of say test:// url's, but experimenting with one of apples example scripts ( the Sherlock -search internet one ) doesn't work properly here - sure enough, safari reads the test:// & opens the script ( which is saved as an application bundle & had its info.plist modified as above...) & the application opens no problem, but then closes right away rather than doing what it should do, which is ask the user for something to search for.
I bet if you post in the applescript or Developer forums, you'll get an answer as to why this doesn't work...
ho ho try this: http://www.apple.com/applescript/linktrigger/index.html I just didn't know what to search for.

  • Can't remove Hamachi from Menu Bar (icon)

I own a second hand 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, today and yesterday I have had to reboot the system because it just quits on me. After getting back onto it by resetting the PRAM, I went on a deleting mission getting rid of photos and games and their relevant files to make sure this wasn't blocking it up with unessential items.
However, I've tried to delete Hamachi, used for game servers, and I can't delete it because it lives in the Menu Bar, so logically I went to see how to remove it but Command+click/drag just doesn't work, it just opens the drop down menu. I searched further and found that if this didn't work I could simply just click 'Quit' on the drop down menu, but that does nothing either!
I haven't got a clue how to get it out of my menu bar and until I do, I can't delete the supporting files also, help anyone?

    Uninstalling Hamachi on Mac
Follow the instructions to remove LogMeIn Hamachi from your Mac:
In Finder, go to the Applications folder and double-click HamachiUninstaller.
Choose if you want to Remove all settings and Hamachi configurations.
If you select this option, all your networks and membership information will be lost.
If you leave the option unselected, you will have all your networks
on the Hamachi user interface when you reinstall LogMeIn Hamachi.
              Click Yes.
Enter your Mac user password and click OK.

LogMeIn installs a at boot kernel extension file into OS X itself to operate, it can only be uninstalled using their uninstaller.
If it has a problem uninstalling, install it again to return all files, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, you can hold Shift key upon booting and head to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions  and find the LogMeIn kext file and move it to the Desktop. Then reboot to get out of Safe Mode.
If that doesn't work, then perform a #8 Reinstall Just OS X, Software Update fully and reinstall from original sources any other programs that fail to function correctly, however you might not be able to get 10.6 compatible copies of those programs again. Thus the manual method.

  • Antivirus software is blocking Bonjour install - can I remove Bonjour from install file?

My work laptop has some restrictions that prevent me from installing Itunes 10.7 with Bounjour. Earlier it could be done by unzipping the instal file and delete the Bonjour install file, then install Itunes. I have some problems doing it with the new Itunes installer, anf would very much like some suggestions to how it can be done.

I would think first about removing your anti-virus software. If you cannot do that, then you should disable it before doing any system software updates.
