Remove Contribute CS3 toolbar in MS Office?
Is there a way to remove the Contribute toolbar from the MS
Office applications? I know it was possible in version 4 but I
don't see it in CS3 (4.1).
Any help would be appreciated.
To remove the Contribute plug ins - you will need to close
both Contribute and MS Office applications. Then navigate to
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS3 and rename the
following file from officeplugin.dll to officeplugin.dllOLD. When
you relaunch Word, Excel or Outlook - the Contribute toolbar should
be removed.
If you choose to add the toolbar again in the future, you
just need to remove the OLD from the file name. Then bring up the
command.exe window and browse to the program's directory C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS3\ and then run the following
command: regsvr32 officeplugin.dll
This will re-register the .dll file responsible for the
toolbar.

How to remove PDF Maker toolbars from Office/Word/Outlook ??
Cannot find a solution for this anywhere:
Using:
- CS 3 Design Suite with Acrobat installed (going to Control Panel > Add/Remove/Change CS3, no options available for Acrobat, only install/re-install)
- Office 2003.
The annoying toolbar appears in Outlook and Word, tried registry hacks, 'Templates & Add-ins' (no option to uncheck PDF Maker).
Can't get rid of it.
Any help? You go back to the repair and remove the PDF Maker option in the install. Basically to not get that option on install, you would have done a custom install and disabled PDF Maker. Unless you are really super annoyed, I would suggest you just leave them there as it is likely that in the future you will want them to be able to transfer links, bookmarks, and such (it is needed for that functionality).

Removal of Acrobat toolbar from Office
How do I get rid of the PDFMaker and Connect toolbars from Microsoft Office? They're quite irritating and they don't go away, even upon deletion.
I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional and Microsoft Office 2003.There's no way to do it when it's already installed?
Yes you can. Use the Add/Remove Programs on your system. -
Copy/Paste images into Contribute CS3
We have been copying and pasting images from Word Documents
in Office 2003 into Contribute CS3 at my organization when
developing content. We have been able to copy/paste images from
Office 2003 and other programs like Paintshop Pro and SnagIt.
Since upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 all image copying and
pasting has stopped working.
Is there a known issue with this?
Does anyone else have Office 2007 installed and is able to
copy/paste images from a Word Document into a page in Contribute
CS3?It appears that the problem only occurs if you are copy and
pasting from something that hasn't been saved yet.
In Word I inserted an image from my hard drive and tried to
copy/paste it into Contribute and that failed. I then saved the
Word Document to my hard drive, re-opened it and was able to
copy/paste fine.
Power Point, Snagit and Pain Shop Pro appear to have the
problem even if it's been saved first.
I was able to copy/paste an image from a Word Doc and
PowerPoint into MSPaint just fine. I was also able to copy/paste
between Office applications with out any problem. Snagit could
copy/paste into Office just fine and MSPaint.
This problem appears to be specific to Contribute CS3 but
only from certain sources. -
Contribute CS3 was running fine on a Vista PC, but now we get the splashscreen and hourglass. Then the computer shuts it down since it is no longer responding. We've reinstalled without success. Any suggestions about how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
KathyHi,
Can you please try clearing the Contribute Preferences and try again?
How to clear Contribute Preferences?
Here are the steps how to clear the Contribute Preferences:
For Win, Contribute CS4
1) Quit Contribute.
2) From Command prompt run the below two commands to remove the preferences
a) reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 5" /f
b) RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Contribute CS4"
For CS3
a) reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 4.1" /f
b) RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Contribute CS3"
Thanks. -

Contribute CS3 (Mac) Crashes ... a lot!
Curious if there's something that possibly conflicts with
Contribute CS3 (v. 4.1) that could cause it to be unstable. In the
past I noticed it would crash too often during very normal tasks on
uncomplex web pages (saving, etc...).
Just did a full reformat/reinstall of all the original
software on my Macbook Pro - everything (including Contribute)
seemed to be running great up until just a few hours ago - it
crashed at least 5 times in about two hours! First couple times I
restarted the system, then when it kept crashing, I would just hit
"reopen" and it would, and I would keep
working.
Any idea why this is happening so often? I don't have any
unusual software on my system.
[]Creative Suite 3 Web Premium
[]Office X
[]Final Cut Pro/DVD Studio Pro
[]Fetch
[]A Better Finder Rename
[]Canon Powershot software
That's about all I've put on so far.
Anyone experience Contribute being very unstable? Ideas
why?Yes, there is definitely something unstable. Reinstalling on
a fresh hard drive (so no old preferences) did not make these
crashes go away.
Adobe... you've got stability problems here. -
Javascript errors when formating text and images in Contribute CS3
I'm using Contribute CS3 on Vista, I insert an image inside a
paragraph tag with text then align the image
ie the source code looks like this:
<p><img src="..." alt="" align="left"/>some
text</p>
I change the text in the paragraph to bold
Source code example: <p><img src="..." alt=""
align="left"/><strong>some text</strong></p>
I will get the following error messages:
1 This error appears 2 times:
"While executing DW_Text_CSS_Style canAcceptCommand in
ccText_Styles.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
2 This error appears 2 times:
"While executing DW_Text_Bold canAcceptCommand in
Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
3 This error appears 3 times:
"While executing DW_Text_Italic canAcceptCommand in
Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
4 Next all the styles and formatting options are greyed out
but I can still publish or discard.
To be able to apply the styles and formatting in Contribute
CS3 I now need to close the application and reopen it again and be
careful not to reproduce the error.
I've also tried renaming the Configuration folder under
c:\Users\myusername\appData\Local\Adobe\Contribute CS3\ but it
hasn't worked.
We've reproduced this error on 3 similar machines in our
office all running cs3 but the bug doesn't occur when performing
the same steps in Contribute 3 or dreamweaver CS3 which is running
side by side on these machines. It might be trying to pull the image from a different
location than the image is currently stored in. Try to move the
image file to a different folder and then load. -
I have just upgraded a user from an older version of
Contribute to Contribute CS3 and FlashPaper is no longer installed.
Does Contribute CS3 no longer come with FlashPaper? If not,
is there functionality in Contribute CS3 that can do the same thing
that FlashPaper used to do.quote:

I am running Vista Home Premium, and have Studio 8 (including
Flash Paper) installed. I don't use Contribute, but have been able
to run Dreamweaver , Fireworks, and Flash Paper. Flash Paper does
have some problems though, especially when I try to print a webpage
to PDF and the page contains frames. Also, I have Office 2007
installed, and am having problems trying to print a docx to PDF.
For the most part, it is running okay, just sometimes it does not
work properly.
I have to agree with majority of posters here. Adobe has
pretty much discontinued (to put it nicely) FP... so they don't
feel the need to support those that still use it, as well as any
other Macromedia products. Their only answer seems to be to
purchase their CS3 products. *sigh* -
Contribute CS3 & Dreamweaver CS3
I do volunteer work for a pet rescue website. I started out
editing their pages with Dreamweaver CS3. When the work load got
out of control, one of the rescue members decided to help out by
using Contribute CS3. After a few months, I noticed there was a lot
of lag loading this one page we were both updating on a daily
basis.
In Dreamweaver, in design mode, the page appeared to be fine
but when looking at the source code, there were thousands of empty
lines that had been generating for who knows what reason. The
amount of lines was over 50K. I manually went in there and deleted
all the empty lines and ended up with about 600 lines total of
code. Everything was back to normal and my helper continued using
Contribute CS3 and I used DW, until a few days later when I noticed
the blank lines were back. Not as many as there were before but
they were certainly adding up and were definitely adding to the
loading time.
I did what I could to clean up the code and although there
are some empty lines left at the top of the file, the rest of the
file is ok now. I asked the Contribute helper to not make anymore
updates for the time being. I haven't seen any more blank lines
added since she stopped. So my best guess is that Contribute CS3 is
causing all the problems.
Is there something in Contribute CS3 publishing preferences
that may be causing this problem? I couldn't find anything in the
manuals except something about Line Breaks but that didn't have
anything to do with the code. Could it also be a server problem?
Not sure where I would begin looking. Any help would be
appreciated.
Here is a link to the file I am referring to:
http://www.norcalgsprescue.com/adopt.shtml
Thanks!I've had similar issues, but not to the extent you seem to be
getting it. I know if you are using templates or server-side code,
the lines that do not propagage to your web client are removed, but
the source code lines are not collapsed...
Anyway, when I had a similar problem, it would putting an
extra line for each line in the html code... If you are on a
Linux/Unix Web server... go to Administer Website...Edit Role
Settings...Select the 'Editing' option on the left side of the
panel... at the very bottom, make sure 'Line Break Type' is set to
'Unix (LF)'
Hope that helps -
Trouble with rendering of nested lists in contribute cs3
In our office, some users are on Contribute CS3 and others are on CS5. CS3 is having style rendering issues with nested lists (specifically, font sizes) when in Edit mode. This problem is not happening in CS5. The html is valid as well as the css. Is this a known bug in CS3? It is disconcerting to users to see the fonts rendered hugely on nested lists.
Welcome to the forum.
If the error was along the lines of "Failure to Return Frame," that is often because there is a gap in the Video. All Clips should be butted up to each other. Go to Timeline View Mode, and then hit Home (to get to the beginning). Zoom in on the Timeline. I'd probably toggle Thumbnails to either OFF, or to only show First & Last Frame. Hit the PageUp key to step through the Timeline, one Clip at a time. If you have zoomed to the Frame view level, you should see the gap. You want to close this up. If you cannot see the gap (they can be tiny), the using the PageUP & PageDn keys, step through again, and watch the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to see if it "hiccups," or seems to "jutter" between Clips. If it does, you have found your gap. Look for any more.
Good luck,

Adobe Contribute CS3 Connection Error
I am trying to use Adobe Contribute CS3 Version 3.1 to connect our web server. I can use WS_FTP and WinSCP to connect to it fine. Our web server is running under CentOS 5.x. When I try to connect using the connection wizard in Contribute, I receving the following error:
Contribute cannot verify your connection information.
/tmp
Please contact your administrator for assistance.
I have tried both FTP and SFTP. Again, I can login, navigate to /tmp and upload, download, and delete files fine using WinSCP. Can someone let me know what Contribute is trying to do to verify the connection? Is there a log file? Any help is appreciated. When I first tried to connect to our web server, I received a similar error. What worked for me was getting rid of the folder designation when trying to connect in Contribute (in your case /tmp) and allowing users to have permissions to access all folders on the web server. I create Contribute roles to limit the users to specific folders.
I hope that helps.

How do I remove an unwanted toolbar? I added a radio station to my ibook and it set up its own toolbar so when I go to Safari I have to use it. It involves using Bing for everything as well. It's very annoying and I want to remove it. I can't just type in a URL and have it go to the site. It takes me to all of Bing's choices. Also, when it anticipates what I'm typing (incorrectly) and I have to delete it's guesses all the time. Can anyone help?
Have you looked at Safari's menu bar > view> toolbars to see if it can be unchecked from there, also see if there is a button to collapse the toolbar on the bar itself.

It seems that the tool to create an hyperlink on a pdf file is removed from the toolbar!
In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work. -
