Remove currency symbol from currency cell format?

This might seem like an odd question but I only want my top row to have the currency symbol and the rest of the rows to simply have the number with no currency. I know I can switch the cell format to Numbers but then I lose the formatting of how negative numbers are displayed (quotation marks versus the negative symbol).
So, is there any way to simply remove the currency symbol from the currency cell format?

As the special format for negatives is only meaningful for currencies you can't get if if you disable the currency format.
There is an alternate way to highlight negatives but I don't know if you would be satisfied with it.
Select the cells whose format must be number, not currency.
Open the Inspector of Cells
Check "Conditional Format"
Click "Show Rules"
Of course, you may select an other color.

Assuming davyfromGib is asking about AppleWorks rather than Pages . . .
If running AW under OS X, System Preferences settings allow you to use the euro rather than pound sign in AW's currency-formatted cells:
System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Currency (set to Euro)
AW respects this setting in choosing how to display currency format.
But do note that if you later change the System Preferences back to pounds, the currency-formatted cells in the AW spreadsheet will also change to pounds.

How do you remove a symbol from the stage in Edge animate?

Hello-
I'm wondering how to remove a symbol from the stage in Edge Animate so you can jump to another place in the timeline. In Flash, the symbol was only on the stage for the amount of frames you indicated. Not sure how it works here.
For example, I have 2 buttons on my first screen with some text that animates in. I want the button click to take the user to another section in the timeline or (basically another scene, like in Flash) that contains different content. If I change the visibility the buttons are still there and will ( I assume) create problems when other elements are placed on top.
Or is the only way with code. If that is the case what would that code be?

What I usually do, is, once you have everything set up in the scene you are done with. highlight it all
right click
group elements in DIV
Now all those items act as 1 group and then you give it a properties name, much like a symbol.
THEN you can refer to that scene name and move it anywhere or hide it and slide in another scene that has the content for that next scene.
basically you take all the elements that make up 1 scene, gruop it up, name it, and then in the code for the button say something like:
on click:
scenename.play(framenumber);
that will then animate that scene according to any animation you gave it, such as moving to the left, off stage. while moving scene 2 that you create into the stage.
or just have something like this hide it
sym.$("scenename").hide();
sym.$("scene2name").show();
but if you do that, make sure in your CompositionReady code you hide all scenes EXCEPT the 1st one, so the user doesnt see them all instanatly anyway.

Changing Currency Symbol from the Menu bar to other than €

I use the Costa Rican colon symbol ¢ (in front of number) as a routine value, as well as the U.S. dollar symbol and it seems cumbersome to select the "Inspector" to make these alternate currency symbols (or any alternate to € symbol). Speaking of the Costa Rican colon, it is represented incorrectly anyway and I don't know how to change the symbol.
Also, in the pop-up menu of the "Inspector -- currency" all currency symbols show as € and only when a cell is clicked after selecting a currency symbol, does it appear in the cell (not correct, but at least something other than €.
This is my first hour of "playing with" Numbers. I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

There are many variations to the symbols used for currency worldwide, please, if yours is wrong let Apple know. The feedback option is under Numbers on the menu bar. This is a user to user forum provided by Apple, not run by them.
My symbol on the menu bar is $, which is correct and rather common worldwide, maybe a generic currency symbol is used for smaller areas of the world. You can show all currency options in the inspector by changing the Numbers preferences. A quick way of selecting the correct currency in the inspector is to open the list and type the first few letters.
I'd expect your default would be the same as you have set in the System Preferences > International.
You could also make a couple of templates for yourself in both currencies and use them instead.
Numbers is a neat piece of software, keep playing with it and you may well get to like it.

How to remove paragraph breaks from table cells?

I need to remove paragraph breaks from selection of cells in my table and replace them with a space and a dot.
Tried this and it did not work:
=SUBSTITUTE(AH2,CHAR(10)," .")
I also tried to use find and replace, but it didn't work either.
Any ideas?

Did you read the error message returned by the app ?
I also tried to use find and replace, but it didn't work either.
I'm sure that you didn't inserted the correct value in the "Find/Search" field but I can't guess what was the one which you inserted ? .
I selected the character to replace, Copy it then pasted it in the Find/Search field.

Removing text frames from rdf export format

After a report has been exported in rdf format, can anyone tell me if there is a way to remove the text frames from the document, so that the formating is retained but by using word's tabs etc.
Our client needs to manually add sections to the document after the report has been generated and we find that because of the text frames the document formatting gets ruined when new sections are added to the file.

I don't know whether any of this will help?
According to the manual there are only a very limited range of adjustments you can make to iMovie projects.

How do you remove lock symbol from project?

A "key" symbol has shown up on a few random projects in a library.
I was speaking to FCPX Apple Tech for another issue, and asked in passing what did it mean.
She said it meant that there were keywords associated with the project, I was a bit dumbfounded and we returned to the issue purpose for the call.
As I have read, she was referring to a different symbol on documents in a event which is about keywords.
What it does mean is that the project got locked somehow, and now it can not be moved to another library (it only copies it) and it will not allow deletion.
Can't find any documentation about the symbol or how to remove it.
Has anyone had a similar experience and/or has been able to remove it?

Remove grid lines from a cell

Hi,
I'm trying to hide the griid lines of an specific cell in a table.
First I tried to make a DefaultTableCellRenderer with no results (setting border to null).
What I want is similar to do table.setShowGrid(false); but not for all the table, only for the cells I want (I know the setShowVerticalLines(boolean) and setShowHorizontalLines(boolean) functions).
I'been using the searcher and googling with no results, all help is good :)
The result I hope is a board like this:

I think I found a solution. If I set ShowGrid to false and I manage the borders manually I can build the form that I want, for example with this render:

HT3519 How to remove TTY symbol from Iphone 5 with ios 7.1

I have an Iphone 5 with the most up to date software ios 7.1. I have the tty symbol on the top right corner of my iphone, it looks like a phone with white dots. I do not have the option of going to Settings > General > turn off TTY. The iphone 5 is not set up this way with the new software. Anyone have any ideas on who to get rid of this symbol?

If you turned off the setting and the symbol still remains try to do a hard reset RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

Hello Henrik,
You can use the Database textfield other than the System Variable field to avoid the Currency symbol displayed in the report. Hope this will help.

We have an invoice report, and we are getting currency symbols from the fnd_currencies table. For GBP we are getting 'Â£' symbols and we are using srw.user_exit('FND FORMAT_CURRENCY CODE=':CP_CURRENCY_CODE....) function to get the formatted amount in the report. But when we change the output format to XML, srw.user_exit..is throwing exception for all the currencies except USD. When the format is text it is not throwing exception. please suggest what to do.

You can put the short code like this in GBP, JPY, EUR
xml, and declare the currency formatting in Templates based on the locale , you are running or by just hard-coding.

if the thrid parameter is true, it display the currency and Number value , else no currency , just simply numbervalue.
second param is, currencycode , can be from xml like GBP, JPY, EUR , or just hard code , if it is single currency template.
or to make it generalized, you can put these settings in config, file for the muberFormatMask to be used.

Currency symbol not shown when loaded report using JRC

I'm trying to show the currency symbol in the report file. the .rpt files is already designed with MS Access table but now im reusing the report and populating pojo classes to map with tables. the report that is bound with MS Access table shows currency symbol in currency fields. but when I load report with JRC, it is not showing. I tried to change Fieldformat also programattically as below.

Above code just get one of the currency field and clones the format. And after setting the pojo datasource, I'm again setting the cloned format to that particular field. But still Im not getting currency symbol in the reports that are loaded via JRC. even I set locale before opening the report. but that also not helping.

Remove symbols from Report Painter Report

We have a report painter report. The amounts in the report are displayed with a " * " symbol, probably due to the amounts being added.
We would like to remove the " * " symbols from the columns. How is this possible.

I guess the column size is too small to display the whole amount. Enlarge the columns in the layout options in report painter.

Globally removing an illegal symbol from file names in the finder

I recently discovered that my method of dating files makes use of the illegal symbol, '/'. Now I have thousands of files with that symbol in them and am having trouble transferring them to my new hard drive. Is there a was that I can globally remove that symbol from the file names via the finder?

download filelist.dmg
Double click on it to open it. Drag the Filelist app' into your Application Folder, a good a place as anywhere to keep it.
Open the FileList application, it should show as a window.
Drag a file or a group of files onto that open window- the left hand side pane.
... and there you can manipulate the prefix and suffix of the files to give them new file names.
Create a file in text edit, type something in it, save is as test.rtf, and then drag it into the FileList app and experiment with changing its name.
When you get the hang of it, do a group of files as a batch.
I tried to do what you wanted to do in your initial post and was successful, so just have a play around with it.
