Remove distortion from too much mic gain

Please help. I just recorded the perfect video of myself playing/singing a piece of original music I'd like to share on YouTube. Unfortunately, I was singing too loudly/positioned too close to the mic in several points in the song, and the audio is buzzing. Can the audio be repaired in any way? I have imported the audio clip into Audacity, but nothing I've tried with this software is helping.
Thank you in advance!

Nope. Time for a strong drink and Take 2!

  • Remove distortion from mic too close to mouth?

Are there any recommended settings for removing the fuzziness from a tape recording (talking narration), where the person is has the mic too close or is too loud for it or both? The voice is pretty clear but the high pass filters aren't quite removing the fuzz from the maxing out of the levels.
    Thanks
    Jeff

That's one of the hardest noises to eliminate, you'll have to try setting a noise print by isolating the noise alone in a segment and then reducing noise. The caveat is if the actual vocal pattern tails into distortion and it's not separate anything you do will generally just leave it sounding worse. But try reducing noise.

  • Removing distortion from audio

    Hi guys,
I recently filmed at a mini festival and got a little to close to a speaker, I stupidly left the mic on automatic instead of controlling it manually!
Dumb move I know and I know ultimately it comes down to the raw audio but does anyone know what Final Cut Express 4 audio tools would be best to combat the problem?
Also out of interest, the speaker was on my left side, am I able to control the audio in a way where i can lower the left sides volume and increase the right, does that make sense?!
    Any ideas?!
    Cheers

    Hi
As You might guess - this is tough and often futile. AND I'm much of a paper and clip / trial and error kind of person.
    Left - Rigth balance
    • There are sort of Pan - function in FCE - never used it - the proper way is to learn to use this
    • I un-link the stereo pair of audio and with pen tool adjust amplification - by hand so that it sounds OK to me
    • or I export out as QuickTime and as .aiff - and do the balance in an audio editor like Audacity or Sound Studio etc.
    Noice
    • Wind - nearly impossibly to get good - You might try SoundSoap™ on the exported audio - will help a little.
    • Use Equalizer - also helps - take down everything under 100Hz and then fiddle with the rest to get an as good sound as You like. Still marginal effects.
Or as TV-Broadcasters do - FAKE it by dubbing - Hard to do and most probably need of sound-engineer + people that are good voices - and TIME and Patience.
Result can be excellent but the cost astronomical.

  • E3000 - Trying to save my children from too much brainwashing

    Hi all,
I find my kids are spending more and more time using their connected devices late at night and would like to regulate this through the router. I've had reasonable talks with them before deciding to move on to this next step, please don't answer that I haven't tried talking to my kids - I have.
Anyway, I tried using the Access Restrictions but Facebook Messenger ignores my rules and my kids continue chatting into the night. So I was wondering if there was an option to shut down completely Wireless from 10pm to 7am or something? Or if I'm better off buying a timer that I would plug between the wall and my router.
I guess another option would be to install DD-WRT?
    Thanks for your replies!
    Ferris

There is an Internet Access schedule feature in the E3000 but it's not easy to configure.
    Instructions:
Go into "Status => Local Network => DHCP Client Table" when all the device you are concerned about are connected and record their MAC Addresses
The into "Access Restrictions => Internet Access Policy"
    Enter a Enter Policy Name
    Change status to enabled
Click edit list to add up to 10 MAC addresses
    Save settings
    Click deny
Set the schedule you want those device to not have Internet access
    Save settings
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Why my iphone 4s getting hot and bettery drains too much fast ??

I Have iphone 4s and it is a big peoblem for me now because its bettery drains too much fast and it becomes too much hot after some time. I am too much worried about that. I dnt knw what can i do now with that. Please help me in this matter

The battery can be too much used.  There are a number of ways to help batter life from too much draining.
First, you might want to have an Apple technician run a diagnostic on the battery to see if it is either bad, or consumed.  Consumed meaning the battery has lived its life.  Batteries are like tires, they will run out sooner or later until it needs to be serviced.
Second, you can preserve battery life by turning your brightness down, You can turn off background app refreshes, your some location services off, turn some notifications off that you might get regularly that you don't really need, you can also change email setting to get manually rather then pushed from the email server, lastly you can turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when not around a WiFi network or a Bluetooth device.
    Good luck!

The first time I synced my iphone 4 with my mac, I didn't realize that all of my photos from the iphoto library would transfer over to the phone (more than 3,000).   Now, I need to remove some, as they are taking up too much space.  I cannot figure out how to remove them from the phone.  I tried to uncheck boxes and sync again, but I get a message that there is no room on the iphone.  I've read as many articles as I can find, but still cannot manage this.  Thanks for any help.

Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync

The ios 6 download takes up too much room.  I don't want to install it, but I don't know how to get rid of the download.  Any way to get rid if it?

There is no way to get rid of it now that it is earmarked for the phone. I can respect your choice to hold to Maps, but you will need to install eventually. While this may not matter to you, the Maps app has worked fine for me, however I live in the US and that could make a difference.

  • Recording gives way too much distort

    Hello everybody!
I'm trying to record my guitar on the comp by placing a mic (which is plugged into the mic-in) near the amp but the quality of the recording is horrible, it sounds way too much distorted. It used to sound ok on my old comp which had an onboard sound card (AC97).
I don't know what to do.. any thoughts?

I think you would get better results my plugging the guitar into a preamp and the line-level from the preamp into the Line-in of your soundcard. If you search the forum for "guitar," you'll find lots of posts. This thread seems to cover using a SoundBlaster for guitar recording well, especially jutapa's posts.

  • Can too much memory lead to a kernel panic on a MacBook Pro? specs 2.4GHz intel core i7 16GB DDR3 RAM   late2011..My laptop began suffering from kernel panics 3 mos ago first noticed using public wifi. Gone thru apple support all the way to engineers

Can too much RAM memory in a late 2011 model macbook pro lead to kernel panic? That is what I was told by a senior supervisor from apple support who troubleshot this issue.First noticed this problem in Dec 2014 while using a private wifi at a relative's home. Did not occur again until Feb1 using a public wifi at a hotel. Never happened on my private wifi network until last night  attempting to use airplay. ( have used airplay before without issue). Late 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.9.5; 2.4 GHz Intel core i7, 16 GB DDR3,AMD Radeon HD 6770m 1024 MB graphic card.  The laptop came with 8GB RAM and I installed 8 GB about 2 years ago for some reason I cannot remember... probably because I thought the system was slowing down a little. I know that sounds silly. I do not run multiple programs at a time except I leave 6-8 website tabs open simultaneously. I don't photo or video edit.  I would describe my use as "light"  based on reading these blogs.I had purchased apple support and spent hours on the phone with them in early Feb moving up through support  and senior support to sending logs to the "engineers." Of course lots of things were done some of which I am sorry to report I cannot recall their technical definitions. Deleted  3rd party apps/programs; re-worked start up menu; re-installed operating system; reset " this, that and the other" using acrobatic simultaneous key strokes both in and out of safe mode..Anyway the results from the engineers came back and they suggested that if it happened again I was to remove the 8GB of RAM I had installed as the system was getting confused as to which chip to use.( that is my interpretation of what was said..prob dumbed down for me)...Anyway 1 day after these pronouncements came down I read that Apple had agreed to fix  graphics cards in some late model 2011 MBPs. I felt this was unlikely to be the issue  given all that had been done including an extended hardware test but called the Senior Support Supervisor I was working with to ask him to make sure. He never phoned me back. Should I go to the trouble of removing 8GB of RAM from my laptop? Of course I will try it as the alternative is a new computer.Blogs read that this model can support 16GB but Apple didn't test for it. Senior Supervisor claims this is my trouble.  Does that make sense?  Not to me....but it is clear to all my level of knowledge.  Can a malfunctioning graphics card be missed by an extended hardware test? I appreciate comments.

The RAM needs specs as shown below.
    Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

  • Will all my music transfer from the mac to my macbook air? I don't want it to because there is too much and the air will not hold it.

will all my music transfer from the mac to my macbook air? I don't want it to because there is too much and the air will not hold it.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

  • Apple wired Keyboard allegedly drawing too much power from my iMac.

    Hello all,
Whilst working on my iMac as per normal, I get this little window that pops up declaring that a USB decice is drawing too much power from my computer and as as a result, one or more of my USB devices has been disabled.
This is not an alien dialogue box to me, I have seen it many times. The problem this time is that, when I removed all my devices to see which one was causing the message to pop up, I discovered that it was my keyboard that was misbehaving.
When the message pops up it states that the offending device has been disabled. This cannot be the case however, as I am able to press enter to close it, and if the keyboard truly is the problem then I shouldn't be able to close it with enter because it would have been disabled... right?
Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. My keyboard is the standard wired + number pad one shipped free with new iMacs. It's not a custom one, it's apple stock through and through.
The baffling thing is that this has only just occured. In the year or two since I bought my iMac it's never been a problem.
Yes I have tried using a different USB slot, and no that doesn't fix it.
This box keeps popping up unless I disconnect my keyboard which of course is no way to use the computer, and I don't have a spare keyboard handy. It's extremely disruptive and I have a vital deadline coming up that I cannot complete unless I can fix this problem.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Westy

    Westy, try resetting the SMC
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • IPod Nano Drawing Too Much Power From USB Port

My daughter plugged her iPod into the USB port of our iMac today, something she has been doing for months and months, and yet this time she was greeted with an error message telling her that something was drawing too much power from the USB port, so my iMac was shutting down that port.  I moved the iPod to another port -- same error message.  I moved the iPod to another iMac -- same message.  So I am confident that the culprit is the device and not the computer.  Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?  The iPod is an iPod Nano 7th Generation (current model).

My issue has been solved.  The USB cable was bad.  I am unsure how to remove my question from the forum ... sorry for taking up anyone's time.

    Hi All,
i uninstalled AV successfully using as below mentioned links:
Moved to VirusScan Other where hopefully an expert can help you.
Until they do I Googled 'How to uninstall VirusScan 8.6 for MAC' and got this as one of the many choices:  https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB54975
There are also uninstall instructions in the User Guide: https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/ 22000/PD22134/en_US/VirusScan%20for%20Mac%208.6.1%20User%20Guide%20Addendum.pdf
By condemning files to the bin you may have scotched any automated method of removal but I will defer to the experts on that.
    Thanks lot,
