Remove DRM form music files

what im trying to do is transfer my entire music library from itunes to an micro SD card to go in my Galaxy S5 but from what i can gather the files that i purchased years ago are DRM protected and wont open up on the phone or even show on the list of tracks. what i want to know is how do i remove the DRM protection from these files?? iv tried deleting and re-downloading one of the songs from the cloud as a test (couldnt be bothered to download the 60 odd songs if it didnt work) but i dont think it worked as it wouldnt transfer to Kies (THE CRAPPEST MUSIC PROGRAM KNOWN TO MANkind. THANKS SAMSUNG). anyone got any suggestions on how to do this??

Apple 'FairPlay' is the DRM from the iTunes store. It won't work with any non-Apple device, and asking how to remove it will get your post removed if a moderator decides it contravenes the Terms & Conditions (I don't think your post does, but be careful what you ask for).
'iTunes Plus' was introduced when DRM was dropped and you were able to convert DRM'd files into iTunes plus ones, but I think this may have ended…
iTunes Store: iTunes Plus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
This next link suggests that some older purchases may be able to be re-downloaded as 'plus files', but I cannot verify this, check your purchase history to see if items are available on the store. You could create a new user account on the Mac to sign in to iTunes & see all your downloadable purchases without having to delete your own files from iTunes.
http://www.tuaw.com/2012/12/04/is-itunes-plus-gone-itunes-11-offers-drm-free-aud io-re-download/
Apple now suggest using iTunes Match to 'upgrade' these files to the plus versions - however you should be aware that some purchases may no longer be available in the iTunes store. Also backup the entire iTunes library before you upgrade any files, sometimes the matched store versions are worse quality or different to your own copies!

• Can iTunes Import Nokia DRM Protected Music Files

I have 10000s of downloads from Nokia's Comes With Music / Ovi Music Unlimited.  Ignoring the issues over the 25k limit, these are DRM protected downloads runnable from Nokia phones and any computer I nominate with a 90 day period before allowing a reswitch.  Will iTunes Match recognise the Nokia DRM protected music files and give me a DRM free product at a higher bitrate?

You won't be able to match non-Apple DRM downloads - you'd have to find a way to strip the DRM off first.  For example, Rhapsody had recommended ripping their protected DRM files by burning to CD (as well as Yahoo! Music and Walmart) so that way the DRM layer would be removed at the expense of sound quality.    I'm not sure how this service works but iTunes probably won't be able to import them as-is.
You probably don't even need to subscribe to iTM to test this - just install iTunes and try to import the files - if you can't import them into iTunes, then iTM definitely won't work.

• How to remove from iPad music files that do not appear in iTunes?

A 'phantom' music Album files appears on my iPad, in the Albums view of the Music menu.  The album cannot be played and the three tracks on it appear greyed out when it is selected.  It is not present in my iTunes library on my PC.  Is there anyway that this file can be deleted or at least removed from the Music/Albums view?
Similarly, I downloaded a free track from iTunes directly to my iPad.  This now shows on both my iPad and iTunes on my PC.  However, I do not wish to keep the track on my iPad.  Removing it from the playlist that sync's to the iPad does not remove it from the iPad.  Is there a way to resolve this additional issue?
iPad is an iPad 2 with iOS 5.0.1.  iTunes is version 10.5.2.11 on a Windows 7 laptop PC.
Thanks, any suggestions welcome.

If you try syncing with iTunes again, perhaps the phantom album will be erased since it does not exist on the computer.
Have you tried restarting or maybe resetting the iPad to see if the album will disappear?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

• Removing pictures and music files from my old Mac Book Pro

Hi I hope someone out there can help me with this question,
I have an older MacBook Pro with IOS 10.9.2 Mavericks I want to remove all my pictures, music and documents and put them on discs since my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display does not have a HDD and only has 125GB drive. How can I safely remove all my items unti a disc.

I'm not sure I understand the problem.
You need an external drive. You can store your documents on there, and then wipe the disk of the old MBP.
You can then access the documents on the new MBP from the external drive.
One other thing: you do already have a backup, don't you? A backup should be on a separate physical device from any other copy of your files. Make sure you have two copies of your files before deleting the originals on the old MBP.

• Is There Any Software Available To REMOVE DRM From WMA Fil

if so please let me know!
email all info to [email protected]][email protected] if you don't post here, thanks!

Yeah it's quite simple, just burn it to a CD-RW and then rip it with copyright settings off
It would probably be illegal to use a program to remove it I guess, but I don't know how to get hold of one anyway

• Playing MID(I) music files in QuickTime Player?

Hello.
It looks like Apple removed MID(I) music file support to play back in its newer software versions like Mac OS X 10.8.5's iTunes and QuickTime Player. Even the latest VideoLAN Client Media Player can't play them. Is there a good free player software or an addon that can and use SoundFont files?
Thank you in advance.

• How Do I delete all the Music Files at on

Without reformating my Zen Vision:M how do I erase all the music files from the player. I have found that even though I have approx. 0 gig of music on my computer the Zen tells me that I have 9 gig. I want to remove all the music files and re-sync with the pc. I have also fixed a great deal of the "unkown albums" on my computer to have the names and art so I don't want to duplicate the music. Oh and I would like to be able to do this without reloading the firm ware. THANKS!!

You should be able to use Zen Media Explorer to do this. Just use it like Windows Explorer: highlight the albums (folders) you want to delete, hit delete and it should take them off the player (may take some time).

• How to remove DRM from files

I thought iTunes Match was supposed to remove DRM from files

It doesn't actually  "remove" anything.  But it does allow you to delete the DRM versions and download non-DRM versions, if available.
Go to this document, and read the section on "Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?":

• HT3842 Does iTunes store the original music file and copy it into a separate folder? If i delete the original file from finder will it remove it from my iTunes library?

Hi, on my last PC when transferring music to my new MacBook Pro i noticed i had about 6 duplicated of each song in every album i took hours in removing them.
I Just wondered Does iTunes store the original music file and then copy it into a separate folder?
If i delete the original file from finder will it remove it from my iTunes library or vice versa. I didnt want to lose any music like i have some how managed to on my old computer.
Or should i keep both files of it in the Music folder and also iTunes library folder?
Which is best ?

DrewPowell wrote:

It does both at the same time.
When you add files to iTunes, it copies them into /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/ folder. The original file remains where it was.
You can drag a file to /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Automatically add to iTunes/ folder.
This will add to iTunes and move it to /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/.
I keep a shortcut of this folder on my desktop then simply drag files to the shortcut to add to iTunes.
Then there are no "extra" files around.

• Nokia C5-03 music files still visible aldo removed...

I connect my nokia C5-3 to the PC to put and remove music on the memory stick in the mobile. When I remove music files, they are still visible on my mobile when I want to create playlists. So It takes a lot of time to find the right files! I can't play the ones who are removed offcourse but they stay in the list
Other problem: it seems that music and videaos are put automatically on the memory stick from my PC, how do I prevent that?
thanks!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

After you added/removed music, you must refresh your music library.

• My music files keep being removed after being added to iTunes

I have had my macbook for about a year and only recently has it started to remove my music files from its originial folder when i add it to itunes. I have looked at all the settings and can't figure out whats going on. Any advice ???

ITunes can convert the files for you. Set up mp3 as your import format from Edit > Preferences > General tab (enable the menu bar if needed with ALT or CTRL+B), then right-click on a selection of files and use Create MP3 Version.

Hi,
I presume you deleted the original files as match would not have done so. Do you have a back up. If so, restore your music from that. If not, your will have lost all your music as this needed to be on your hard drive when you unsubscribed.
