Remove duplicate user account

What's the best way to delete a duplicate user account from 11i ?
I know we can't simply delete the row from fnd_user ,
(we don't want to just 'end-date' the duplicate user account)
Thanks

Dear
Yes its right that we should not delete user. Actually there is no logic in deleting it. It may have performed a several work.. then how will we track it. ... YES we can rename it. or make it ineffective (no more available)...

  • Need to remove a user account

After two attempts I was able to successfully migrate from my MBP to my new Mac Mini. It appears, however, that the first attempt created one user account but didn't bring everything over, and the second attempt created another user account that did migrate successfully. How do I remove the user account I don't want?

  • Duplicate User Accounts

Is there a way to duplicate user accounts? I would like to configure one account and copy it for the other 5 users. I was thinking that I could create all the accounts - set one up - copy a "preference" folder of some type - then paste that folder into the other accounts. Is there such a folder?

you can do it but you might have a number of small problems with things like sharing. You'll also have to recreate the keychain (and maybe other things, I'm not sure) for each new user. the easiest way would be to duplicate the directory of the original user with a different name.
this is easiest done from terminal
    sudo cp -Rp /Users/oldusername /Users/newusername
Here oldusername is the shortname of the original user and newusername is the short name of the new user you want to make. After the home directory is copied go to system preferences->accounts and create a new user with short name newusername.
You'll get a popup saying that a home directory by that name already exists and asking if you want to use it. say "yes". repeat this as many time as necessary.

  • Remove all user accounts?

I'd like to remove a user account I created testing a new mac. So when it restarts the next person will be able to create their own user account.
    Can this be done?

If you would prefer not to erase the drive and reinstall OS X then you could do this instead:
    1. First, boot from your Tiger DVD, select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, select your boot hard drive, go to the First Aid tab, and click the button for Repair Disk. Repeat this until no trouble is found. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. Then quit DU, return to the installer and shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes.
This will assure that the drive is OK and permissions are OK.
    2. Next, boot to single user mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
    3. At the prompt, type or paste the following commands pressing return after each command line:
    /sbin/fsck -yf
    mount -uw /
    rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when you reboot, it will send you to the startup wizard where you can start a new user without reinstalling.

  • Duplicate User Accounts on 1 Mac

My wife has an account on our iMac that she uses for personal and work. We want to DUPLICATE here user account information and delete the work email accounts from her personal user account and remove her personal email accounts from the newly duplicated work user account.
How can I do this? thanks

To duplicate all the stuff in her existing account, I would, as an admin user, first go into system preferences and create a new user account.
Next, from the admin account, I would launch Terminal.app and type
    sudo cp -vR /Users/{shortUserNameOfExistingAcc't}/* /Users/{shortUserNameOfNewAcc't}
substituting the appropriate actual short user names for the stuff in (and including) the curly brackets. This should duplicate all her existing stuff into the new account. You can get the short user names by doing
ls -l /Users. This may take a while to copy everything. Then do
    sudo ls -lR /Users/{shortUserNameOfNewAcc't}
just to make sure that the newly copied files have the same owner and group affiliations as the new account does -- they should but it's best to check.
Now, for mail accounts, you should have exact duplicates of everything in each user account, so you should be able to log into each computer account separately and remove the undesired mail account from within Mail's preferences. However, should you decide to retain the ability to check any mail account from either computer account, if any of the accounts are POP, just select "Leave messages on server" in Mail's preferences for the "foreign" mail account (i.e., personal mail on work account, or work mail on personal account).
This should work okay for you but as always, one should be cautious and make sure that everything has in fact been duplicated, everything can be opened, read, written, executed, in the new account before deleting the corresponding originals out of the old account.

  • Duplicate user account OR migrate iPhoto/iWeb between users

I've seen this question asked several times before, but have not seen an answer!
So, with as many details as I can muster:
I have, on my computer, 4 user accounts: my admin account, my user account, my boyfriend's user account, and our business account... All separate, keeps things nice and tidy (sort of!).
I have a new and separate project that I'm starting to work on which involves lots of images, and new websites, and new and different stuff that's necessary for the project, but just clutter in any of the other accounts.
Because this project started out as something my man wanted to play around with, all of the beginnings of this are in his iPhoto and his iWeb, and they're well organized.  I've not had luck so far moving the iPhoto and iWeb libraries to a new/blank user and maintaining the organization that I've spent time and attention making right.
He's not so great with technology, and gets very frustrated (and unproductive!) when anything on the computer doesn't work exactly like he expects it to. (When Lion came out and the scrolling went "the wrong direction" he was afraid to use the computer at all for a week, because "everything changed, I don't even know how to use it anymore" that's between us though, personal issure ). So I'd like to keep the user experience the same for him.   I'd like to duplicate his settings, preferences, etc. into a new user for him, and take over his current account to isolate this project.
    So, in summary:
I want to create a new account with the same user experience  as a current  account without having to find and reset all of his settings.
    OR
I want an exact copy of the iPhoto and iWeb from this user account to another one, on the same machine.
    I am currently running OSX 10.7.2, iPhoto '11 9.2.1 and iWeb 3.0.4
Thanks in advance for any help!

That's easy, if you have Time Machine or "bootable clone" backups. (If you don't, you should anyway.  Post back if you need info on them.)
Use Migration Assistant to transfer just that user account from the backups; it will put up a screen saying it can't transfer it under the same name as the existing account, and allowing you to rename it.
Other than having a different name, the transferred account will be identical to the existing one.  Then you can modifiy them separately as necessary.
EDIT:  see Using Migration Assistant on Lion for detailed instructions.  Be sure to un-check the boxes for eveything except that one user account.

  • How to Remove "Root" User Account

  • Duplicate user account in multiple domain with samaccountname

I have list of users in CSV file and I have 4 domain in my single forest.
I wanted to all users mentioned in CSV are also exist in other child domain or not..
if exist same account name then I need output..
I am trying below command but its not giving me required information from all domain:
    Import-csv user.csv | foreach {get-aduser $_.samAccountName -properties SamAccountName | select name,SamAccountName}
Please help me or guide me to get duplicates account with same samaccountname

If I understand correctly, you're taking the users listed in user.csv and using Get-ADUser to see if the user exists.
If they do exist you would expect an ADUser object, and if they don't you would expect an ADIdentityNotFoundException.
That said, you're not capturing the output of Get-ADUser. I would add found users to an array and then once I've checked all the users in the CSV I would create all the accounts that are not in the array. Alternatively inside the foreach I would add users
that don't exist and then deal with the duplicates afterwards. Careful when running the script again, you'll find all the users will have duplicates!

  • Duplicate user accounts - Help

Is there anyone at Adobe who can help me get rid of the duplicate accounts I apparently have?  Whenever I reply to something in any of the forums that I participate in my username gets this gibberish tag added to the end of it, and indicates that I have only made one or two posts.  Someone indicated that I must have duplicate accounts, but I cannot figure out any way to get rid of them.

    Jim,
You know this is the Lightroom forum and your question has nothing to do with Lightroom. You should ask on the forum intended for the purpose http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments

  • How to remove duplicate iCloud accounts

Hello! I just got the iPhone 5. I set up iCloud on my phone but my contacts and calendar stuff weren't syncing, so I synced my info through iTunes
the old fashioned way. My contacts and calendar events are all good but now for some reason my mailboxes are screwed up! I somehow have multiple inboxes but I only have ONE iCloud account. Under accounts, on the Mailboxes page, it shows one account called iCloud and one called my email address (me.com). ***? What did I do and how do I reverse this? It's not the end of the world but I'd rather not have my mail all screwed up like this. My last iPhone was the 3G, this whole iCloud thing is confusing. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried turning notes syncing off, restarting then trying again.

  • How do I remove duplicate Google accounts in the Contacts application?

    I reinstalled 10.9.
I entered my iCloud credentials, and prevoius settings, including the Google account information appeared.
I tried to log in to mail.google.com and Safari asked to add this account, to which I confirmed.
Now I have two Google accounts in the Contacts application, but only one in the iCloud prefs. panel.
It is somewhat annoying, is there a mehtod to fix this?

The manual doesn't address it because there is no way to do it on the iPad. You can create groups in iCloud.com in a web browser, but that does no good either because the built in mail app will not let you use groups.
Look at these two apps for that functionality

  • How to Merge two user accounts(duplicate accounts) in SharePoint 2013?

    Hello,
There are 2-3 user accounts with the same name. I want to merge those accounts in one account with only one name. How to do it in SharePoint 2013? Is there any PowerShell command or script to do that?
    Please Guide.
    chirag

    Hi chirag,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to merge the user accounts which have duplicated names in SharePoint 2013.
Were there duplicated user accounts in Active Directory?
If not, the user may had two accounts in AD and one of the accounts that doesn't exist anymore is still used in SharePoint.
Please check if there is any permission assignment to this user, remove all their assignments and add them again only for the valid account.
Here is a similar issue for you to take a look:

  • Preventing duplicate ilearning user accounts

We are using the self registration process in Oracle iLearning 5.0b1 and need to ensure that duplicate user accounts are not created. According to the iLearning Help the "username" is supposed to be unique and is part of the validation process but this out-of-the-box validation is not functioning properly. I am in the process of researching this issue on Oracle Support website.
Does anyone know where the validation code is for the username?
The client would like additional validation done on the first name, last name and email address.
Any ideas on the best way to do this validation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    JC

    Hi JC,
Usernames in iLearning are case sensitive, so if users create accounts with the same username but mixed case, these are treated as separate user accounts within the system.
The iLearning PLUS solution we offer our customers can perform additional validation checks such as the ones you describe prior to creating an account within iLearning. It can also be configured to utilize the user's email address as their username, force upper or lower case, require a validation by the user sent to their registered email address and more. There's also a user reconciliation feature available to administrators that allows you to merge duplicate accounts into a single account.
