Remove fields on ESS screen

I would just like to know how can we remove (or unseen) the fields on the ESS screens. Fields below...
1. Country of Birth (under Family Member/Dependents screen)
2. Place of Birth (under Personal Data screen)

Yes you can achieve through Personalization, and then do not authorize end used for changing the fields.

Hi,
I Have faced one problem in screens(se51). When apply one SAP Note i have to change the screen manually(as per Note ) . My requirement is to remove some text fields and label fields. But I cant delete the Fields.
Normally just select the object and Press delete Key to remove one object from screen. But here it is not working.
How can i remove the objects from the screen as per SAP Note.

Any way to add fields to ESS screen without coding?

Hello Experts,
I am attempting to add a single field - Religious Denomination (KONFE) to the Personal Data ESS screen for Great Britain. It is included in the standard screen for maintaining Personal Data in PA30 but for some reason not on the ESS screen.
Is there any way to add this field to the ESS screen without having to modify the code of the ESS screen in the NWDI?

You can check via V_T588MFPROPC, but not sure this will show as it is not in structure

Adding a new field on ESS screen.

Hello Experts,
Just need a suggestion on how to a add a check box to the ESS view.
After reimporting the model basically, I want to know where do I have to edit the model bindings.
The RFC, we have added a custom field in the struchure HRBEN00_FSACONTRIB_TRANS of RFC HR_BEN_ESS_RFC_OFFER_DETAILS.
The view, I am tryign to add the field is to DetailFSAContributionView.
I just want to get little clarification on communication between view, interface controller, component controller and the model.
In a web dynpro application binding is between view -> controller n controller -> model. Looks like in the FPM application its different.
So, if anyone can let me know how to do the binding and any additional steps needed to be added to code inorder to intiate the values?

to add a check box, do it the layout if u want to do at design time,
or write code in the wdDoModifyView to create a check box if u want t o do it dynamically...
coming to the binding,
first check how the binding is done in the data modeller,
if it is view>componentcontroller->interfacecontroller
and model-->component controller,
reimport the model (as u have modified the structure)
first, apply template(service controller) to the component controller (binding takes place b/w the component controller and the model
then, bind the view to component controller and then component controller to the interface controller.

This is for working time -> leave request screen
In field selection there is one field 'code for description of illness'. I have done required config for getting this field on ESS Screen. This field already has standard search help. So I m able to view the values of this field on ESS screen .
So I thought to try assigning custom search help to this CUSTOMER0 field. Is there any method in BADI PT_ABS_REQ through which I can achieve the same. Please help.

ESS custom fields - data entered in ESS screen is not saved in SAP record.

I am working with an ABAPer on the BAdI HRPAD00INFTYUI. We are trying to make a few customer Z* fields avaialble on ESS for IT0021. We followed the document posted at

I managed to make the fields visible on the iview as per instructions from document at link above (I don't know much about portal config).
Problems we have:
When I enter data in the custom fields on ESS and press Review button the custom fields no longer show. In addition, the data record does not save the information entered in these custom fields.
Cannot figure out how to change the order in which they appear on the screen. They are not in the same order that they appear on the 'Edit custom extension fields' screen where I made them visible.
Any input is appreciated.

Hi,
I think there are a few tasks that you can try to solve your problem (if you haven't already)
- First you will have to repeat the personalisation steps that you performed (on the initial portal i-view screen) in the the review screen to get the fields to display on this screen.
- to get the fields to update you will need to add them to the view V_T588MFPROPC or possibly V_T588MFPROPS though this table should be for SAP namespace
- You may need to check your code in the INPUT_CONVERSION method of the BAdI

How to remove the "table control" icon in ITS based ESS screen

Hi All,
I have upgraded my external ITS 620 to patch level 28. Earlier we were on patch 04.
Since then I am seeing the table control in my ESS screens (ITS Based),
In some thread i got to know that the table control is totally redefined / modified from patch 22 of ITS.
Is it possible that we can remove / hide the table control from the screens.
I dont want to let the users access the "Table Settings" screen at all....can u plz tell me how to do it

we could not remove the table control...it seems like we can not remove it as the table control also appears in the r3 screens also..

Custom fields in ESS webdynpro applications

Hi Experts,
Can you please suggest me where I am going wrong in this scenario? I have a standard application Family member application. We enhanced the infotype 0021 with new fields and corresponding fields are added in screen structures and HCMT_BSP_PA_JP_r0021. This is working fine in the backedn while creating a record in PA30. Standard application in webdynpro is working fine, after that I reimported the model in webdynpro and I can see these fields in my model, so I context binded them in controllers and then to view controllers. There are no errors in it. I added few fields in detail layout. Now when I deployed and run the application after these changes, it is opening up with bizcard view empty and the button for creating a new record showing up, which is not the case should be as I have record in the backend for the same subtype. When I clicked on New record, and even withought filling up required fields, I clicked on continue button, and it is failing giving runtime exception at review view.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me? am I doing the proper steps to make these custom fields available in the screen? does anybody have documentation for adding custom fields in ESS applications or any helpful links, please let me know, I really appreciate your time.

this is lil wierd but the problem is solved in this way.., it might be useful for others, so here is the way I did..,
Once I downloaded the model, I invalidated cache and also, I restarted J2EE, invalidation of cache sometimes acting up i guess. Then build it once again if the service is working fine. After that model bindings, contaxt changes, code changes one at a time and in between after every lil step, I deployed and run the service again, so that I can back that small step if it didnt work out.., finally this was fixed.., but all this process seems wierd about this approach and tiresome too.

We had configured ESS, but i am facing an error in one of the screen like when i am going to
Personal information> Family members/dependents>
(Under the child) EDIT--> click on review button. i am seeing the following error.

That configuring is maintained in SPRO. But problem is when i am getting the data from the backend and when i try entering data (with all the mandatory fields filled), there is no problem. But when i leave the mandatory field for exmple in address i leave the postalcode field empty instead of catching error it throughs an exception.

Masking the SSN field in ESS.

Hello Everyone,
Can somebody help me in masking the SSN field in ESS.
In ESS when we go to personal information Iview and click on Personal data and click on change; users are able to change the SSN field. and save the changes. Is there any table where I can disable this SSN field from changes and make it read only like Date of birth.
We are using ESS Business package for 4.6c.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Try once at this place.
go to View V_T588M_ESS
Enter The Function group.
(To get the Function group go to view T77WWW_SC.
Check the Function module for ticked for PZ13.
Then go to se37 and put the FM name and then click GOTO->MAIN PROGRAM
Now if ur program name is SAPLEHF5 then EHF5 is Ur function group.)
and then U will find a screen after entering FUnction group where U can change the field attributes accordingly (Display, Edit, Hidden etc).
What is the country for which U are displaying the personal data screen.

NUMC field in the screen

Hi all,
I have an NUMC field in the screen. when there is no values in that field( field is initial), It is displayed as "0".
I dont want that "0' to be displayed.
Is there any way to do it.

after write.

in a module pool ..
if u r trying to remove it from the screen then declare the screen fields as char type and move the numc field to char type. this will do .

Hi Jones,
what is displayed in the menu on the left side depends on the users role, respectively on the role menu defined in the role. Should you want to change this, you can create your own custom version of the standard role and remove any entries not wanted.
The content in the main area of the SUS start page depends on the users authorization. Authorization object BBP_SUS_P2 will control to which documents the user has access and according to that the content will be shown or hidden in the start page.

ESS - Screen control

Hi All:
I am configuring view V_t88m_ESS, to hide some if the fields in IT0002 in ESS.
For function group EHU5 (for US) I have entered the standard screen 0200 and made the appropriate settings. ( SSN, Date of Birth, etc. output or display only).
But when I log into ESS the screen are still in Edit mode.
Has any one encountered this before ?

Hi Rachel,
V_T588M_ESS was used in the old ITS scenario for ESS - it doesn't change the screen fields in ECC WD Java ESS.
And even when it was used in the ITS version it was not globally supported - you had to add some code in for most country specific ESS screens.

Fields missing in Screen 2000 for Infotype 580

Hi,
In PA30, when I go to create or change or display mode for an employee in infotype 580, there are only 4 fields shown. There should actually be over 10 fields in the screen. I checked the layout for the screen 2000 of program MP058000 in SE51 and it had all the fields there. In table T588M there was no entry with the module program name MP058000. I created an entry with this program for screen 2000, and chose the radio button Standard ( The first one) for all the fields that were there and still the screen in PA30 has only 4 fields.
Can anyone please help with this issue?
Additional Info: When i chose create or change for IT0580 in PA30 for an employee, there was a status message saying screen was modified, and that were i got the table name that i've mentioned above.

Please check the hiring date of employee to whom you are trying to enter and check the employee who joined before this financial year. If i am right, this info type screens are depends on hiring date of employee, if i am right..
At the same time, Please check the control record period also.
