Remove "Getting Started" screen in Acrobat Std. X

What is the process of disabling the "Getting Started" screen in Adobe Acrobat Standard Version X?
Unable to locate the "do not show at startup" selection that is available in previous versions of Acrobat.
Very much dislike viewing this "Getting Started" screen when Acrobat is opened.

All you need to do is buy a Mac and get the Mac version of Acrobat.
Seriously though, you cannot prevent it from appearing on Windows. This is a common complaint however, so there's a chance it will be configurable in the future. There's an Acrobat feature request forum here, so you may want to post there for your voice to be more effectively heard.

  • Acrobat X Pro - Getting Started Screen

Now I am currently running the trial version of Acrobat X, but, I did not see a way to turn off the Getting Started Screen. Its nice seeing my previous documents, but if I want to Create a PDF, it opens up my explorer, not a new PDF or a drop down, like Create does in the top left corner. The Create PDF needs to match what Create does, but overall, I would rather have a option to turn this off and work the old fashion way, by going to file, then selecting what I want.

    Hi,
Unlike previous version of Acrobat, the Getting Started Screen in Acrobat X is inbuilt and unfortunately cannot be turned off or remove.

  • Where is the Getting Started page in Acrobat 9?

I seem to be missing the Getting Started page in Acrobat 9 that has all the project types that pops up when you first start Acrobat. Acrobat 8 had this, but now when I run Acrobat 9, I just get Acrobat 9 with menus and toolbars only. Is this something that was removed from 9?

    Hi Jean-Paul,
It was removed in Acrobat 9 (you aren't the first to miss it).
    Hope this helps,

  • Pages 2.0 will not get past the "getting started" screen

i just updated pages to 2.0 on ipad 2 retina (ios 7.0.2) and now i cannot open pages, it will not get past the "getting started" screen
has anyone else experienced something similar?

Had the same problem. This sovled it for me:
    Just let it load.
In Keynote, I didn't have so many documents, so the freeze didn't take too long- that's how I noticed it's just a freeze while loading.
For pages it took much longer. You can also turn off iCloud in settings for Pages, Keynote, etc. open it, re-enable iCloud in settings app again and quick switch back to pages (double-click home button). It will freeze up again, but after a while after all documents have been pulled from iCloud, it will be back to normal.

  • Why does Firefox 8 show the getting started screen every time I start it?

Whenever I start Firefox 8 it checks compatibility of my add-ons and then goes straight to the getting Started screen. How do I make it go to my home page instead?

That's weird. It could be that you are currently set to open multiple tabs on start-up. Try restoring to default, by using the "Restore Default" button (under the General tab) and then reenter your Home Page URL.
Here is Firefox Help page on: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page#w_set-what-pages-open-when-firefox-starts How to Set the Home Page] for additional help.

    Hi Steve,
Do you know if UAC is enabled withing Windows when you connect your device?
If so, try disabling it, then connecting the device again and see if the prompt to install then appears and allows the process to complete.
The following link includes instructions on how to disable it:

  • How to remove "Get started with your site"

    Hello,
I am in the process of automating the creation of a site collection using PowerShell. Everything works fine but I would like to remove or hide the "Get started with your site" that we see the first time we open a site. Deactivating the Getting
started feature will not remove it.

For other readers, here's the full script needed:
    # First, get a reference to the target web app:
    $web = Get-SPWeb "[TargetSiteURL]"
    # Assuming that 1) the web page file that you want to examine is
    # the default landing page and 2) Publishing has been activated
    # for the containing site collection, the following gets you a
    # reference to the web part manager:
    $wpm = $web.GetLimitedWebPartManage("pages/default.aspx", [System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope]::Shared).WebParts
    # Note the "pages" in the path. Next, the following lists out
    # all web parts on this page:
    $web.GetLimitedWebPartManager("pages/default.aspx",[System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope]::Shared).WebParts
    # Review this list, and then identify the PartOrder of the web
    # part you want to remove. It its, say, its "5", you get a
    # reference to web part like so:
    $wp = $wpm.WebParts[5]
    # Now delete the web part:
    $wp.DeleteWebPart
    # and close the web app reference:
    $web.Close()
It's easier to remove the web part directly from the page, while it's in edit mode, but then the scripted method also works when automation is needed.

  • Really annoying problem, can't get past 'getting started' screen!

    Hi,
Can't get ipod and itunes working for the first time!
Ipod is plugged in and appears in the itunes menu, click on ipod and a screen appears on the right hand side saying something like 'getting started'. The problem is that the type runs over the edge of the window (can't read all the info) and there's no link/tickbox to set up the ipod. Tried widening window but moves about an inch then stops. Is there any way to get things working without this annoying problem?
I'm trying to get this working for a friend and don't know much about Windows as I use a mac (which worked first time with my ipod!).
    Any replies appreciated, Steve.
    Ipod classic 80 gig/win XP/itunes 7.5

I have the EXACT same problem. I own a first generation iPod nano and I loved it so much that I bought my boyfriend the 3rd generation. I downloaded iTunes for him and everything was going great until I went to register. The screen is doing exactly what you described. You can tell there is something on the right side that needs to be clicked but you can't scroll over there to do it. I'm frustrated because he wanted to sync all his music before we started to travel for the holidays and now we can't! Please let me know if you figure anything out or find out anything. Thank you!!
FYI - I tried to register online to see if that would help but it didn't make a difference. Also, you can still put songs onto your iPod by dragging them into the iPod section but once they are there you can't manipulate them or take them back off.

  • Can't get past "Get Started" screen

I run the Azure RemoteApp installer on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. It brings up the "Welcome to Azure RemoteApp" window. When I click on "Get Started", a new window flashes up for an instant but is too quick to read anything on it.
After the flash I am still stuck on the original "Welcome to Azure RemoteApp" window. If I click "Get Started" again, same result.

    Hi,
    1. Do you have at least Internet Explorer 9 installed on this PC?  If not please update to a newer IE version, preferably IE11.
    2. If you have any Internet Explorer windows open please close all of them, verify there are no iexplore.exe processes listed in task manager, and then test to see if the issue is resolved.
    3. Do you have any third-party anti-malware, anti-virus, popup blocker, security software, etc. on this PC?  If yes you may want to try disabling them and/or completing uninstalling them, and then test to see if the problem still exists.
    4. Are you able to use Azure RemoteApp on a different PC on the same network?
    Thanks.

  • Suggestion about Sart Menu & Start Screen

If the Start Menu will come back in the new version of Windows (Windows 9?), then I hope the following suggestions become true.
For better and consistent experience when switching between Start Menu & Start Screen, I suggest:
    1) Apps Shortcuts in the Start Menu is a List View (*) of Apps Tiles in the Start Screen; Apps Tiles in the Start Screen is a Large Icon View (*) of Apps Shortcuts in the Start Menu.
        * Regarding 'List View' and 'Large Icon View', I just quoted the view name in the Windows Explorer to present my concept, I don't mean to use Large Icon to replace Tile.
    2) When user Add/Remove a Apps Shortcut into/from the Start Menu will also Add/Remove same Apps Tile into/from the Start Screen automatically; When user Add/Remove a Apps Tile into/Remove the Start Screen will also Add/Remove same
Apps Shortcut into/from the Start Menu automatically
    3) When run a Modern/Metro Apps, it can appear in both Start Screen and Desktop
    4) Executable file (e.g. .exe/.bat/.msi/.com, etc.) ONLY can run in the Desktop, and CAN NOT add a Shortcut of Executable file into the Start Screen as a Tile
    5) In the Apps list under Start Screen, hide all Executable files (e.g. .exe/.bat/.msi/.com, etc.); In the All Programs under Start Menu, show all Apps and all Executable files
    6) The new Start Menu divided into Four sections (from top to bottom):
User (incl. Shutdown, Restart, Logoff options),
     Apps/Program shortcuts,
     All Apps/Program Files,
     Settings
    7) Point to the upper-right corner of Start Menu for displaying a upper-right arrow, then click it to enlarge the Start Menu and transform into the Start Screen; Under Start Screen, point to the upper-right of the display screen for displaying
a bottom-left arrow, then click it to bring up the Start Menu and Desktop
    Thanks & Regards,
    Harry Cheng

For better and more consistent experience...
Consider using a free 3rd party Start Menu replacement called Classic Shell that has provided better and more consistent service since it came out in the time of Vista.
Why bother trying to follow the changing whims of Microsoft at each new version release when you can just have the same top shelf Start Menu functionality from version to version?  Classic Shell has been a better implementation of every flavor
of start menu Microsoft has made (and especially better than not having one at all).
When Windows 9 comes out, you can just choose to ignore whatever Microsoft provides and continue using Classic Shell.  Your usability won't be impaired because you'll already be good at using it, and there is no doubt that it'll
still be a better, more efficient implementation than Microsoft's own.

  • Start Screen Listed as Unused in Library

Just recorded the following for the Adobe Captivate Bug Reporting system:
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
    Steps to reproduce bug:
1.Set a PNG as start screen instead of Autoplay
    2.Save project
    3.Check Library for Unused Assets
    4. Remove unused assets
    Results:
    1. Start screen is removed because it is flagged as an unused asset.
    2. Movie then starts with slide one.
    Expected results:
    1. Library Cleanup would not see start screen image as "unused."
    2. Library Cleanup should not remove the start screen that is used in place of autoplay.

    WORK AROUND:
Because the startup screen appears instead of AutoPlay, each time you preview the movie/project you will see the startup screen and will have to click the play button (a triangular shaped arrow). This happens even if you are only previewing the next five slides. Therefore, the workaround is this: don't put on the startup screen until you are at the final publishing stage; use AutoPlay until you are ready to release the project.
Adobe is considering fixing the bug for the next release (date and content unknown).
NOTE: Before final publishing, purge the library of unused assets, THEN set up a start screen (and turn off AutoPlay), then publish, then luxuriate in accolades.

  • Can't register and can't get rid of the "Let's get started" pop-up

I was trying to register my wife's iPad, using her iTunes account. It said that the ID didn't match the password no matter what I did, including resetting the password several times.
What is odd, is that we were able to download apps directly to the iPad by typing in the new password on the iPad. In other words, iTunes seems to recognize the iPad, the account and the password, but it keeps asking us to register the iPad each time we try and sync. So, it seems to be partially registered.
Any ideas? I would hate to have to reset everything and start from scratch. Not sure how to do that anyway.
    thanks,
    Cliff

There's really no way of getting rid of the "Let's Get Started" screen. It's just a side effect of buying a used iPad from the Black Eyed Peas.

  • Expand Primary Site - Fail on Getting Started

    Hello All,
I am trying to my client's Stand-alone Primary into a newly created CAS.  When I attempt to run the standard steps (Following best practices from Microsoft) from either the .iso direct from the VL site - or expanded onto the disk (Tried several downloads
    - all with the same results) - I get no further than The Getting Started screen of the setup Wizard
Literally, the only options available are to Recover a site and/or Uninstall
    I'm open for ideas?

    To explain further..
I have two Stand-Alone Primary sites.  The Manager wants to retain the site structure - but enable standards at a global level - hence the reason for a CAS (Also - the business is growing very well and may shortly require a CAS).
The third server in question is a CAS with no child primaries attached.  The goal is to expand the existing Stand-Alone Primary servers into the third server - CAS.
When running Install from the .iso or an expanded iso (Contents expanded from .iso into a local folder), I start the expansion process.  I get one or two screens into the wizard when the only options available are to either Recover a Site or Uninstall
SCCM altogether.  All other options are Greyed out.
I have Local Admin (For Application) and Sysadmin (For SQL Server) privileges.

  • Since july 2 I have Acrobat Pro (the paid version). But every time I start the program I get the screen with: this is a trial version. You have X days left, etc. I find that quite annoying.

Since july 2 I have Acrobat Pro (the paid version). But every time I start the program I get the screen with: this is a trial version. You have X days left, etc. I find that quite annoying.

This is not just annoying, it is wrong, because at the end of the trial it will stop completely. You must resolve it before then.
So, did you do anything to license the trial version? It needs to be told that you have purchased, or it will stop working at the end of the trial.
