Remove I Tunes from Hard Drive

Sorry I am not too pc literate. I am freeing up some space on my hard drive and have found the following programs:
ipod for Windows 2005-03-23 Size 163MB
ipod for Windows 2005-06-26 Size 163MB and
ipod for Windows 2005-09-23 Size 163MB
When I try and remove them it denies me.
How can I remove.
I assume my correct program is the iTunes one.
Could somebody please explain to me in simple terms how I can remove the three programs if indeed I should.
Many thanks.

how do i remove a place from hard drive places menu?

Yes, I saw that Carolyn. I should have included that in my previous post. I asked the person who did the change for me and had no new information to provide. He said he only did the normal change of information to receive and send POP mail. He did nothing else that should have affected the mailboxes. In fact, he made the same changes to his own Macbook Pro and had no loss of emails from his mailboxes.
So, what it boils down to is a simple question that may not require a simple answer, but my guess is there is a simple procedure to restore a mailbox's data from the Users folder on the hard drive. If the info is gone from Mail, but still on the hard drive, then it would stand to reason that we could stop focusing on what caused it to happen (especially if we don't know), and just make an attempt to Restore it - if I could find someone who knows the procedure to restore a mailbox.
It may require a trip to the Genius Bar if it so complex that no one here has experience with it. I would think that from time to time people have to restore the mail box.
Thanks so very much Carolyn for all your interest. If you know anyone who could restore mailbox, please see if they would offer a suggestion as to the steps to do so.

  • Deleting tunes from hard drive and not ipod

I don't want to keep all the tunes on my hard drive, that I already uploaded into my ipod.. when I went to delete the files, through itunes it said next time I update my tunes, those will be removed from the ipod ?? So how do I delete them.. thanks

now a computer geek friend told me.... just don't delete them... YOU WIIL need to reload the ipod sooner or later and you'll be glad it's all there... I'll have to see how my hardrive holds up.. it's only a 20 gig itself.... I really don't want to drop any more dough into this thing, so I don't plan on buying a second hardrive

  • I want to remove some images from hard drive, how to tell they are linked to InDesign files?

Is there any way I can find out if the image is linked to an any InDesign file? I have a thousand .indd files on my hard drive, if I open one by one and see the links panel it would take me ages...

    Willi Adelberger wrote:
That's said, if you package all files from InDesign you don't get links to linked ai files. Although they are complete for the use in InDesign you might loose the editability of linked AI files if their links are lost. So it would be a good idea to package linked ai files too but this functionality is only available in the Cloud Versions from CS6 and CC, not in the permanent license.
    Wait...what?
Maybe I misunderstand the post, or I've missed something along the way, but I've been using InDesign since it was introduced, and I've never heard this before. I output packages using pre-CC versions all the time, and I've never experienced any link or editability breakage with .ai files, or any others for that matter. Can you clarify Willi? What am I missing?

  • Can't remove Core Storage from hard drive

I wanted to erase a backup drive and start over again but somehow it's gotten converted to "Core Storage" I'm told.
I managed to erase the drive by first listing the Core Storage devices, using the following command in the OSX Terminal:
    diskutil cs list
    Then erasing the drive:
    diskutil cs delete "Backup2"
This made everything look OK in Disk Utility, because now the drive appears as having a volume in addition to the drive icon, and there are also 4 tabs available (First Aid, Erase, Partition, RAID, Restore), but if I erase the drive something strange happens: it says "Switching disk1s1 to Core Storage", and after that the two drive icons in Disk Utility get the same name (all my other drives show an icon with the drive brand/model while the second icon shows the volume name). And the main drive icon only has 2 options now: First Aid and Partition. The volume icon has 3 options in DIsk Utility: First Aid, Erase, Restore.
The obvious thing to do at this stage is select "Erase", but this only results in the volume icon changing its name separately from the drive itself.
I've also tried booting with my OSX 10.6 installation DVD and erasing the drive from there, but the result is the same when I try to erase it once again. Seems like my OSX has somehow decided that this specific drive must be a Core Storage device regardless of what I've done to the actual drive itself.
What do I need to do in order to make the drive "normal" again? I'm using OSX 10.9.5.

Kappy: thanks, but I have to explain that I'm not in the process of upgrading from OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard (I grabbed the OSX 10.6 installation DVD because it allows me to boot from another media than the computer's boot drive -Mavericks doesn't come on a DVD of course and I haven't taken the time to figure out how to install it on a USB thumb drive).
I actually did a clean install (backup everything, reformat the drive, install OSX from scratch) of OSX 10.9 Mavericks recently, and the reason for reformatting the problematic drive in the first place was to do a completely new backup since I don't want to risk keeping keep bits of 10.6 mixed in there with 10.9.
I somehow messed up the drive which made it Core Storage and now it refuses to act as a normal drive.
My Mac consists of several drives where the abovementioned drive acts as a bootable backup.
Keg55: Thanks for your suggestions but I'm still running into the same issue as before: after doing the terminal commands my drive seems fine, but when I open Disk Utility (DU) and format ("erase") the drive gets converted back into Core Storage. I erase it in order to test if things have really gotten back to normal or if the Core Storage thingy still sticks with my system somehow (which it does). I'd never even heard of Core Storage until now (and still don't understand what it really is as most of the documentation I've found is highly technical), but could it be that OSX 10.9 Mavericks is supposed to do this while 10.6 Snow Leopard isn't (hence what Kappy is saying in the last part of the reply above about Yosemite creating Core Storage volumes automatically? Is this what applies here, or have I misunderstood?
OK, let me explain what happens step by step... The goal of course is to format the drive so as to act as a normal "Mac OS extended (journaled)" drive (as I said I don't even know what Core Storage is and don't know why I would be wanting this), so here goes....
    1) At the first stage I have the drive freshly deleted using the diskutil cs delete LVG_UUID command (diskutil cs delete "volume_group_name" appears to be doing the same thing), so it's just like my other drives as far as I can see in DU (showing the drive brand/model and a partition icon underneath as seen in the screenshot below).
    2) Now I want to verify if my drive has really become "normal" again or if it acts up once more by becoming a Core Storage drive again.
I click on the drive's (not its partition) icon in DU, select the "Erase" tab and finally press the erase button.
    3) After pressing the erase button, messages pop up at the bottom part of DU very quickly. Luckily I can do screenshots faster than I can read, so here's what I've captured DU telling me. First it's converting the drive to Core Storage:
    4) next it switching the drive to Core storage:
    5) and finally it's formatting the file system for logical volume (whatever that means):
and as you can see in the top left corner the drive now only shows a single icon (unlike every time I've formatted a drive in the past it shows the drive and a partition icon, where the drive icon is followed by the drive's brand/model name).
So what's going on here and why can't I get my drive back to normal when erasing it?

  • Deleting library entries without deleting tunes from hard drive

    how??
    thanks...

Try this on one song so you're sure it works...just highlight a song, and press delete.
You should get a message asking if you want to delete the file, if it's in the itunes music folder (from itunes preferences).

  • Deleting from library does not delete from hard drive????

itunes support states when deleting from library, it should prompt to remove from hard drive. i am not getting this prompt. i cannot find a setting that changes this either. please advise
    thanks,

    It only deletes it from the hard drive if it is in the iTunes Music folder path;
Look at your itunes menu > Edit > Preferences >Advanced tab.
    "itunes music folder location"
For example, say it is set to C:/Music. If you delete a file from the itunes library list that exists in C:/Music you'll get asked if you want to keep or delete the file.
If you delete a file from the itunes library lists that exists in C:/SomeOtherFolder, it will not get deleted from the hard drive.

  • DELETING FROM HARD DRIVE ( USING AN APPLE)

I had a hard time at first to figure this out.
    Flag pictures with an X
Message - Delete the rejected master photo from disk or just remove them from lightroom.
Choose - Delete remove from dick.
Secret !!! to remove from Hard Drive (you must empty trash)then they are removed
    Good Luck,
    Rick Rickard

This is pretty standard behavior on a Mac, and it provides you wil another chance to reconsider esp. if you learn that you've trashed a whole folder instead of one image.
You can also just hit delete from a folder view and get that dialogue.

  • Start up issue with clicks from hard drive

My Macbook Pro 17" with Maveric does not load beyond grey apple logo during start up and has intermittent clicks sounding from hard drive. I've tried the following to resolve:
    1. Removed and reinstalled the RAM modules followed by clearing the PRAM on restart... ineffective.
    2. Restarted holding the option key. This showed my 1 year old hard drive was still available. However, selecting it resulted in the same failure at the grey apple logo.
    3. My previous Snow Leopard Recovery disc also ineffective. The eject button does no eject the disc either.
    4. Target disk mode also fails.
    5. Remote Recovery start up (command R) hangs on spinning wheel.
    Please advise.

You may have to resort to using something such as DiskWarrior or Data Rescue 3 to try an repair the drive to the point where you can recover some of your files.
I assume that you have no backups?

  • Colour differences & LR not deleting from hard drive

    Hi,
I am running a Dell Dimension 1100, a NEC MultiSync 70 monitor, Xp SP 2 home, Olympus Master 2 and a full version of Lightroom 1.0,Photoshop CS2, and use a Olympus E-500 DSLR.
I have a slight issue with how Lightroom shows the colours of my pictures when i am comparing Olympus Master 2 v. Lightroom 1.0. Most pictures its hard to tell the difference without going back and forth constantly, but when i look at my pictures of flowers or landscapes, my pictures look so much more vibrant in Olympus Master compared to Lightroom. Is this a settings issue? or perhaps something else?
    Also.....
when deleting pictures from Lightroom, it asks me if i wish to delete from the hard drive or just remove from Lightroom, when i choose delete from hard drive, after it says its done, if i go look at the folder its still there :/.
any help would be apprieciated, I am a novice dslr user and still learning how to use the softwares out there

Are you shooting images in raw or jpeg mode?
I assume that Olympus Master 2 is the raw processing software bundled with your camera. If so, then you are asking why Olympus software renders pictures differently than Lr. This question has been asked (and answered) many times but it boils down to the fact that the Olympus default rendering could be far different than that chosen by Lr. Also, Olympus may embed proprietary information in the raw image useful to Master 2 but entirely unknown to Lr.
If you want Lr to operate more like Master 2, then create a Lr preset (with the appropriate adjustments -- likely a saturation boost), then apply this preset when importing.
Finally, the camera raw engine (ACR) used by Lr is noted for producing images more muted than that produced by software bundled with cameras. In my opinion this is a good thing since the default rendering that many cameras produce is not at all natural. But the powerful Lr develop module allows me to create any interpretation I choose. Including a head spinning contrast and saturation boost.

I was instructed to reset my notebook to repair fingerprint device.
Thought I had backup of data on external hard drive, but not.
Computer illiterate, but wanted to know if it is possible to recover data from hard drive?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please check professional services in your area, normally they charge few hundred dollars depending on recovery rates but never get 100%. There are few tools such as:
        http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/recover-formatted-partition.htm
You may want to try yourself.
    Good luck.

  • How to install arch 2009.08 from hard drive? Please enlighten me

OK, I admit I am impatient for the installation from the CD drive. Whenever possible and whatever distro I wanna try, I head first to try to install it from the hard drive. I don't remember how many times and how many distros I have done the same to, ubuntu, zenwalk, sidux, fedora, opensuse and of course arch. It rarely failed as long as I followed someone's guide, sth like "install any OS from hard drive", I do not exactly remember. And I did the same in the past with arch. But after 2009.08, it simply didn't work. I've read the article "fast install arch from existing linux system" in the wiki, it didn't work either (by the way, if someone can solve my problem, I think the article should be updated). After it boots, at some stage, it says "Use Hook [archiso]", then tell me "waiting for /dev/archiso for 30 seconds ..." then when the time due, it throws me into a ramfs shell. I've hacked for a long time, but no luck. Then I went back to download the 2009.02 iso, however, it works flawlessly.
I did find some differences in the menu.lst/isolinux.cfg between two version.
    In 2009.02, we have
title Boot Arch Linux Live CD
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 usbdelay=5 ramdisk_size=75%
    initrd /boot/archiso_pata.img
    While in 2009.08, it is
title Boot Arch Linux Live CD
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 archisolabel=ARCHISO_AHCOHH6O ramdisk_size=75%
    initrd /boot/archiso_pata.img
I know I can install arch from usb, but I simply wanna know what's wrong here, so guys, if you have any idea, don't hesitate to enlighten me.

Hi, vacant, thanks for the reply. I did not notice you are the author of the article. Actually I missed the head of the article which directs me to another (the amalgamated one you mentioned). I take a look at it, it seems to make things complicated. I still miss the old days: you simply download the iso, mount it and copy all the contents into a separate partition, edit your current grub, then reboot and everything works. I don't understand how Arch could be so evolved to exclude this simple installation scheme. I am not complaining the development of Arch. In my opinion, a distro as flexible as Arch should provide as much installation strategy as possible. In this respect, I think we can learn from Ubuntu or sidux (in sidux, it provides a very convenient kernel parameter called "fromiso" which allows you to install sidux from the plain iso, that means, you even don't have to mount it and copy the contents out of it to a separate partition).

  • HELP moving photo's from hard drive with aperture to hard drive with iphoto

I was trying to move the photo's from hard drive a with aperture to hard drive b and start using iphoto but I have had no luck. In aperture when I select relocate masters a error comes up and say's: unavailable master images cannot be relocated. Either offline or not found. I originally had the masters on a external hard drive, when I got divorced my ex took the external drive for her mac. I am able to view the photos but I don't know how to move them. Thanks

I think you're missing the point - it's a question of where the images are, and it sounds a lot like the images are on the hard disk you used to own.
Managed = you keep the images in the Aperture library
Referenced = the images stay where they are on the hard disk and they're indexed in the library.
