Remove IPX in CATOS

Hello,
Need help with removing IPX config from 6500 runing CATOS, all examples show adding commands but not how to remove.
These are the commands I need to remove:
set mls agingtime ipx 32
set port protocol 2/1-8 ipx on
set port name 2/8 lab-ipx

Imaging slow after removing IPX

We are running Zenworks 6.5. We basically use the imaging piece and NAL. We
removed IPX from this server this morning and now Imaging is moving at a
crawl. I'm not sure if this is related as I thought imaging was using IP.
Any ideas on what I can look at to troubleshoot this? I am making sure the
duplex settings on the switch are not mis-matched with the settings on the
NIC, but if that was the problem we should have seen this issue before
today. Any ideas would be appreciated.

DOS IP-ONLY VLM boot disk

I have removed IPX from my network and for purposes of ghosting
workstations, I still have to use dos boot disks.
I have made a custom DOS client32 disk based off the 2.7x dos client32 (NLM
disk) which works fine for most PC's, but there are some instances where I
have to use a VLM based bootdisk. I have made a vlm disk and it gets on the
network just fine, I can ping my servers by name, but I am unable to attach
to them. In the NLM disk, there is SERVLOC which I assume helps this
process, but is there a VLM component that will do the same feature, or do
I need something specific in there so it will find the server via SLP??
I know this is ancient stuff and technically unsupported, but I am looking
for some guidance.

The VLM client never knew how to make NCP connections over IP. There
is an IP stack that is compatible with the VLM client, to be sure, but
that's purely as a transport protocol and not that the VLM NCP client
knew how to use it for NCP connections.
To make an IP connection you'll have to use CLIENT32.NLM & TCPIP.NLM
(the DOS/Win 2.71 client). More specifically, use the IP Server
Connection files available from support.novell.com
(http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/se...i?/2963117.htm),
or one of the many CLIENT32.NLM-based boot disks available on
CoolSolutions and elsewhere. (Using the literal DOS/Win 2.71 files is
somewhat out of date.)
Just a personal plug, I find the TCPIP NCP connection from a
CLIENT32.NLM boot disk too unreliable for Ghost, specifically in the
"push" (image creation) direction. The TCPIP.NLM stack seems to have
bugs in that direction that get exposed by pushing a large amount of
data up to the server, as opposed to downloading. I leave IPX enabled
for my Ghost boot disks for that reason alone, even though none of my
workstations actually have or use IPX. Your mileage may vary.

Novell Client 2 compatibility

I understand the Client 2 isn't supported with NW 5.0 or earlier. However, is that not supported, as in "doesn't work and can't be made to", or "don't call us if you have problems"?
If it's "doesn't work", does anyone know the technical reason why not?

Correct. To add just a bit, Client 2 was designed for Vista and later
(currently support Windows 7 and later). Microsoft removed IPX in
Vista which is why for the most part you can't use Client 2 in order to
connect to anything earlier than NW 5.0.
That being said, there used to be a gateway or migration agent as I
recall (scmd) that would allow NCP to travel across different parts of
the network that were IPX-only or IP-only, as long as scmd was running
on a NetWare server running both. It *might* be possible to get Client
2 to talk to older servers using this, but it's a stretch and
definitely wouldn't be supported.

Remove trunking from a port in catos?

All,
Simple question: I want to remove all trunking from a port on a switch running catos. Clear Trunk seemed the obvious option, though it seems to just remove the vlans that are allowed to pass over the trunk port. Set Trunk mod/port Off doesn't do the trick either. Any thoughts?

I've done the Cisco search and came up empty. I used to know this. Isn't there a hidden remove command? Version is CatOs 8.4.1. Hopefully one of you can save the day. TIA!

CatOS: Remove a etherchannel config

Hi,
I have a 6509 running CatOS 6.4. I want to remove those unnecessary port channel configuration entries from the configuration file or set them to default, so those entries wont show up in my configure file. Especially there are some port channel configure entries having only one port in it. It doesnt make sense to have the port channel configure staying there.
I know its easy in IOS. However in CatOS, I couldnt achieve this goal. Setting port channel mode to off wont help. I dont want to delete the port channel entry from the configure file then upload again. Are there any other commands I could use to achieve this? Any comments are welcomed!

Hi Ken,
Unfortunately, there is no elegant way to remove the superfluous 'set port channel' commands from the
config, so better leave it in.
If you really want to remove these unused port channels, you'll have to clear the config for the module, which is like trying to kill ants with a machine gun... :-)

CatOS and removing a vlan from its VTP server..

Hi guys
Question I hope can be cleared up very quickly.
I have a pair of old switches running CatOS, these are also VTP servers for the network running off em..
I need to de-comission a Vlan but cannot figure out the best way to remove the vlan from them?
Obviously,
IOS I would just

no vlan xx
end
But I cannot for the life of me find the best way to do this on CatOS...
Ive found that it may be a "clear vlan xx" command, but not sure..
Any ideas?

Changing VTP Setting and VLANs on CatOS

Greetings to all...
I'm working replacing our old 5505 Core switches running CatOS with 6509s running IOS with a new VLAN structure (VLAN 100 (5505) will be 400 (6509)). The down stream switches are 2948s running CatOS.
My problem is that everytime I either change SC0 or port 2/1 to the new VLAN, I lose my connectivity. Anyone know of a hot command that will change both at the same time?

Do I understand that port 2/1 is the uplink port? If so, it should not be difficult. It is not necessary for the management and the trunk native VLAN to be the same, so your should be able to do them in sequence. In fact, I have just changed the management VLAN of our 20 Cat4000 CatOS switches remotely without any problem.
However, you will get cut off at the moment that you change the SC0, but this has nothing to do with the port 2/1 (assuming that the trunk is carrying both old and new management VLANs).
The way I did it was to start with the management station and all the switches on the old management VLAN. On your router (or L3 switch), create the new management VLAN, give its L3 interface a junk IP address, and enable ip proxy-arp on both old and new management VLANs. Note that the router is still routing the old management subnet, say 192.168.2.0/24, to the old management VLAN.
Now pick on an address which will be the router's IP address on the new management VLAN, say 192.168.2.254. Go into your access switch, and configure that address as the default gateway, set ip route default 192.168.2.254. Then reconfigure the SC0 interface to its new VLAN. At that point, your telnet session will get cut off because the management function of the 2948 is on the new VLAN. So, go to your router at set a host route for the access switch to the new VLAN, ip route 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.255 VLAN400. You should now be able telnet to the switch from your management station. Packets from the management station to the switch will be routed by the host route. Packets from the switch to the management station will be routed courtesy of the proxy-arp.
Repeat this for each access switch, and once they are all done you can move your management station and give the router its proper address 192.168.2.254 on the new VLAN. You can then remove the proxy ARP and/or change the native VLAN of the trunks at your leisure. If you are changing the native VLAN of the trunks, do the remote end first ;-).

Cisco 6506 CatOS unable to bootup

Hi,
I have a 6506 with SUP1, no MSFC running CatOS.

However, it doesn't seems to be able to bootup properly.
Could this be an hardware issue?
What should I do?

Old Mess
I am trying to load a wireless notebook adapter onto Microsoft ME. I get
and error message: "File not found: ipx.msg" "looking for The Novell
Client for Windows 95/98 CD". The notebook adapter will not load. The
NetWare Client is not available in the "remove programs" icon on the
control panel. The Technical Information Document 10013922 did not apply
100% and did not work. Any suggestions how to remove Novell Client
3.21.0.0 OR bypass this problem.

Error Level 10: I have this error where a plugin broke that I had to remove because it was not finding it. How do i install it back so it functions?

It seems to me that if Microsoft's platform can not fix it with the troubleshooter that the troubleshooter sucks. It does not know when errors are thrown so your developer sucks on creating software for errors that are popping up in your software?
if a error is thrown in Windows 8 it should catch it upon a thrown error in programming? This hsould be a level 1 ticket. Since when I call you support for error in your product no one wants to address problems in your software and get mea tech to resolve
it?
The question now is how do I fix this and why is it causing me an internal error 500 for my web server install?
I may have other issues but I need access to my web server through my browser I used fsocketopen to troubleshoot it?
It gets back a internal 500 on Gecko process in firefox and on IE it just won't serve out the document in my web server abyss or apache? So the question is what service is broken so I can't serve my [web server] pages out? Let me go through all the event

Creating a backup of functional drive removed from broken laptop

I have a new Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion that is damaged and won't turn on. I have the drive removed and can access it using a docking station attached to my iMac running 10.6.
What is the simplest way to backup the data from this drive so that after the laptop is repaired I can return my data to the Macbook Pro?

Using Disk Utility to clone a drive will automatically erase the Destination drive if it isn't already erased. To backup to a drive with stuff already on it you would need to use a backup utility like one of these:

Be sure the backup utility is NOT configured to erase all files on the destination that are not on the source. If there are files identical to those already on the drive, then they will be overwritten.
