Remove iWeb - iDisk - Revert to Homepage

We moved to the country. Our internet connection is now Satellite. The laptop running the iWeb website is so slow it is unuseable. (That one is a 2003 iBook 12" with 512 mb RAM.)
As far as I can tell .... Publishing using iWeb forces iDisk to turn on and forces automatic syncing. Automatic iDisk syncing does not work on a Satellite connection. It seems to be continually trying to sync in the background eating up RAM and CPU cycles making the laptop useless.
How do I completely turn off the entire iWeb and iDisk system. The user on the laptop can redo her web page using the Homepage programs in .Mac (Safari).
But I want to turn off the iWeb and iDisk compeletly.
Comments or suggestions?

Yes. 10.4.8 iDisk refused to change to manual sync. Every time I changed it to manual, it flipped back to Automatic (and then failed to sync over the internet connection, hanging the laptop).
I finally kept hacking at it until I was able to completely turn OFF iDisk syncing; and now the laptop seems to work ok.
I have no idea what I did to the user's web pages. I don't want to mess with those pages on the iDisk (.Mac end) until I can take the laptop to an internet cafe in town with a reliable connection.
This is the kind of stuff I expect from Windows, not Mac. I wonder if the Intel chips in the new Mac servers are creating some new and unusual challenges.
Thanks for your comment.

    1) Open Applications, Account Preferences, cluck my administrator acc, select program to delete, click on - and wait.
    2) Remove some login items (with or without unlocking the lock, doesn't seem make a difference, tried both)
    3) Login items are now fewer
    4) Reboot
    5) voila, the removed login items are still loaded and displayed in login item tab.

  • Can I REMOVE iWeb from my System?

I recently upgraded to iLife '08. I am losing disk space and I would like to totally remove iWeb since I don't have a .Mac account and have no need for iWeb.
    1) Can I do that?
    2) How do I do that?
    Thank you for your help.

I use DeLocalizer to automate the process of removing all the languages I don't need, which means everything other than British English. US English stays by default.
Garageband loops are located at /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops and do indeed take up a lot of space. Then there may be more in the user's Library. Many applications can be simply removed by drag n' dropping the application into the trash but it just depends on the app and the needs of the user.

What is the name of the toolbar?
It depends on how the toolbar was installed:
*Some are controlled by settings in the application that installed it

  • IWeb pages reverting to older version- not a browser issue, deleting prefs/caches no help

Hi everyone, forgive me if this is a newb question but I've scoured the internet for answers and all of them I've already tried with no luck. I'm using iWeb and encountering a problem that has me completely stumped. I'm trying to publish changes to my site, (I do not use mobileme, I publish to disk and upload files via Fetch) and for some reason something is changing my html files when I try to upload them. The html files are correct on my hard drive when I publish them, and yet when I upload them, they revert to the older version. This is not a browser issue, as I've cleared my cache, refreshed and tried using Safari, Firefox and Chrome with no luck. I've also tried 're-setting' iWeb by deleting iWeb preferences/cache, and tried moving the domain file from application support, creating a new website, deleting it and then re-loading the old site. Nothing, still the old site. It's new in iWeb, new when I open the html files on my drive, and old as soon as I upload.
I seem to remember having this problem before, and what I found was iWeb's cache kept replacing my new pages with the old ones every time I wanted to upload them. 'Re-setting' iWeb did the trick then, but it's not doing it now. Any ideas on what is going on? It's a little disconcerting seeing a file correct on the disk and then change itself, while uploading, into an incorrect version.
    Using:
    iWeb 3.0.3
    Mac OS 10.6.7
    Mac Pro 2.66 Dual core

If you make changes to a page there are files in the Scripts folder that get updated and must be uploaded also.  Depending on what you're using to up load the files it can be setup to upload just those new or modified files.
Cyberduck is a free FTP client that works very well and if used in conjunction with this tutorial will upload only those new or modified files: #2 - Uploading only those new or newly edited and published files when using a 3rd party FTP client

  • Tried to edit my site in iweb, gave me two homepages.. help?

hi prob a real noob question but i published my site with iweb and decided i wanted to change the theme and when i published my new site it created a new site thats not my homepage, my homepage is still the original theme, when i view my site from option box after publish it shows new site but its not my home adderess in my URL box its basiclly myhomepage/myhomepage/home.html when i go to www myhomepage com it shows my old site.... any help would be the greatest before i clean out the FTP and load fresh, its pretty big... that seems like the long way tho... thanks!

okay after a little more poking around and research i found that ( i think ) this happened due to me transfering my site to local folder then uploading using iweb SEO, when you publish a entire sight with iweb it creates a new folder in you root that is named after the sight name you added when setting up ftp.
So i now have my site loaded in to my filemanager twice, if i make changes in iweb and "publish changes" it changes the "second" site which nobody see's because its not my real homepage URL ,like i said nobody looks at this except me when i click "visit my site" after publish and it takes me to my revised webpage. Which fooled me untill i went to my site via bookmarks.
http://www.mysite.com/home.html                                (real site up and working)
http://www.mysite.com/my_site/home.html                    (the one iweb revises thats not my real homepage)
in effect iv'e lost the ability to publish just my changes in iweb, i now have to publish entire site to local folder and upload entire site via iweb SEO (which must be done anyways to add/keep meta's and titles but i haven't assingened them yet)  this overrights my real website, but is ALOT more time consuming everytime i want to make some small changes, HOW DO I FIX THIS???/
ive read of renaming the site in the ftp setup in iweb to your "default" page but i can't figure that out.  Any pointers would be so appricitated THANKS

  • How can I edit or remove iWeb pages from Mobile me after I have published it to another site?

I have published iweb pages to another server and now I need to replace the mobile me version with page "pages moved to..." or at least I need to delete old version. However I can't find any way to do this from mobile me or from iWeb.
From Mobile me I cant find any way to even delete pages.
With iWeb I cant edit the old version because I cant find way to have two version of same pages. As I understand what I need is a version of my republished pages that only contains the index page "pages moved to...". But I cant create that because I cant have two versions.

  • Remove iWeb Templates

i have iweb09 and i installed some templates and they are crap. Can someone please tell me how to remove it.
    thanks

Check with the developer from where you got the theme and see if they have an uninstaller for it. Here's a way you can try on a backup of the iWeb application:
1 - open the iWeb application package: Control-click on the app and select Show Package Contents.
2 - type Command+F to bring up the Search window.
3 - set the search for iWeb and file name.
4 - enter the theme name in the search field.
5 - delete all items that the search produces. They will all have the theme name in the file name.
6 - close the package and launch iWeb and see if it will work OK.
*Be sure to have a backup copy of not only the application but on your domain.sites2 file(s).*

  • IWeb '09 "redirects" my homepage to another "named page"

because it redirects to another named page instead of www.mydomain.org/
    it redirects to....
    http://www.thechurchofgodalaska.org/TheChurch_of_God_inAlaska/HomePage.html
this causes ALL the search engines to NOT find it anywhere! It was coming up on the FIRST page of Google when I was using iWeb '08. Now that I have updated to iWeb '09 none of the search engines can find my page at all.
    Can you help?

Firstly, where are you publishing your site to? MobileMe or an External server?
If MobileMe, then how are you re-directing your domain name to your site? Are you using CNAME forwarding or ordinary masked web forwarding?
iWeb 08 was the same as 09 in this way.
What you need to do is go back to your domain name registrar and check your domain forwarding settings there to see where it is pointing to. For CNAME it should be just web.me.com and if using web forwarding, then it should be pointing to web.me.com/username/sitename.
It looks to me as if you have used CNAME forwarding? If this is so, then go and check that your domain is forwarded just to web.me.com and nothing else.
The forwarding however will always be forwarded to www.domain.org/sitename/pagename, you can't get away from this and if you want anything different then change to masked web forwarding instead - if you do this, then your url will just be www.domain.org for every single page of your site.

  • How do I remove iWeb from my computer?

When I drop iWeb.app into "AppDelete" it tells me "protected item detected." How do I get it completely off my iMac?

Try deleting the three iWeb files manually.
1 - Can you drag the application into the Trash bin on the Dock and empty it manually?
If you can do that then
2 - go to your Home/Library/Preferences folder and delete the com.apple.iWeb.plist file.
    Lastly
3 - go into the Home/Library/Caches folder and delete the com.iWeb.plist folder.

  • Remove stock and revert it to warehouse to activate batch managmt-BestPract

    Hello,
My client wants to start using batch management.
To do so Iu2019ve 3 options:
1st u2013 Create a new Plant and replicate on it every material. Transfer the existing stocks to the temporary Plant. Activate Batch Management. Transfer from temporary Plant to the original Plant with the respective batches.
2nd u2013 Create a Sales Order for a temporary Customer with the same internal price and create invoice. Activate Batch Management. Create Purchase Order for a temporary Vendor and make the goods receipt and invoice. Both customer and vendor should balance each other. So does stock accounts.
3rd u2013 Make a goods issue to a specific cost center. Activate Batch Management. Make a goods receipt with movement 501. In this case Iu2019m not shore about the financial implications.
Can anyone help based on the experience for each way should I go???
    Thanks,
    BMO.

SAP provided two reports which can update or remove BATCH MANAGEMENT INDICATOR and BATCHES without removing the material stocks and documents. We need to close only open physical inventory documents.
The below reports update, all relevant documents based on batch activation/de-activation:
u2022 RVBCONVMAT2BM - Sets the batch management requirement indicator.
u2022 RVBREVMATBM - Removes the batch management requirement indicator
But,these programns will not be available in standard SAP,they has to procured form SAP.

  • IWeb + iDisk = "only one" passworded site?

Of course, it's not "only one" since you can have as many p-worded sites as you want, but apparently if you use your iDisk, the addressing for the sites during authentication is identical so you're always logging into "idisk.mac.com." Is this why Firefox won't remember the passwords between different sites—because each new site requires a different password but there's nothing to differentiate the different sites during the authentication?
    (Hope that made sense)
Getting kind of annoying have to re-enter my username and password anytime I bounce to a different site on my iDisk...

    Akdream wrote:
usually people set different passwords for different sites thus you have to put it in each time changing from one site to another...
That's what I mean (sorry if my first post was confusing). I'd like to be able to "remember password" for each site, but since they're all linked to "idisk.mac.com" and not something more unique (like "/site1" and "/site2"), if I save password #2, it overwrites password #1, forcing me to re-enter pword #1 the next time I visit site #1. Can this be avoided? Or are you basically forced to use only one username and password if you want to check "remember" and not have to manually enter it each time?

  • Following a major crash - I'm not linked iWeb-- iDisk

    Hi,
I had a major disk crash and had to 'recover' quite a few files. iWeb refused to launch so I trashed the .plist preference file.
iWeb launches, but treats me like I want to use iWeb for the first time. Any ideas on how I can remind iWeb where my web page is? (I can view the page through Safari, so I know it's there)
    I've got version 1.1.1.

    OK,
I found a file called Domain.sites where you said I would (in my recovered files) and copied it to my ... /iWeb folder on my HD. It looked right as the copy generated a dialogue box and I recognised some of the jpeg file names.
However, when I tried to open iWeb it 'unexpectantly quit'. I opened the report and the following are the first few lines:
    Date/Time: 2006-08-07 20:02:40.469 +0200
    OS Version: 10.4.7 (Build 8J135)
    Report Version: 4

    Parent: WindowServer [58]
    Version: 1.1.1 (189)
    Build Version: 5

I've saved it as at .txt file.
I guess this domain file is corrupted and I will have to rebuild the site from scratch. Thanks for your help!
