Remove large bottom menu bar.

When I open the Firefox I now get a different screen than I did in the past. There are two things I would like to change, but cannot figure out how to change:
1) There is a large-fonted bar about an inch high that spreads across the bottom of the screen with icons and commands that are already available elsewhere, such as download. I would like to remove that whole bar. How can I do this?
2) I had set my default homepage to the Google search page; this has been replaced with the new Firefox homepage; I would like to default to Google again. How can I do this?
thanks,
JH

  • Remove name from menu bar + possible bugs?

    Hello, I was wondering if it were possible to remove my name from the Menu bar. It currently says my full name and is clickable, dropping down to my icon and a link to the Login Window and Users & Groups Preferences (but there's no option to remove it in these preferences!) Thanks!
    Also, Is there a thread where we can post bugs we come across? Becuase I've found a couple.
    I'll post them here for now:
    1) When I go into Finder > Preferences, the menu box flickers strangely when I switch between the option tabs (General, Labels, Sidebar, Advanced).
    2) Scrolling left and right through folders in the Column view is hesitant. It doesn't flow smoothly like it does when I scroll up and down.
    If there's anywhere I can report these bugs, please let me know!

    name from menu bar:
    the easy way: hold command and then drag the name icon out of the menu bar (just like how you remove stuff from the dock with the difference of pressing command while you do it).
    the less easy way: open system prfs -> Users and groups [press locket if locked] then click login options and uncheck fast user switching menu

  • Can't remove Hamachi from Menu Bar (icon)

    I own a second hand 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, today and yesterday I have had to reboot the system because it just quits on me. After getting back onto it by resetting the PRAM, I went on a deleting mission getting rid of photos and games and their relevant files to make sure this wasn't blocking it up with unessential items.
    However, I've tried to delete Hamachi, used for game servers, and I can't delete it because it lives in the Menu Bar, so logically I went to see how to remove it but Command+click/drag just doesn't work, it just opens the drop down menu. I searched further and found that if this didn't work I could simply just click 'Quit' on the drop down menu, but that does nothing either!
    I haven't got a clue how to get it out of my menu bar and until I do, I can't delete the supporting files also, help anyone?

    Uninstalling Hamachi on Mac
    Follow the instructions to remove LogMeIn Hamachi from your Mac:
              In Finder, go to the Applications folder and double-click HamachiUninstaller.
              Choose if you want to Remove all settings and Hamachi configurations.
                        If you select this option, all your networks and membership information will be lost.
                        If you leave the option unselected, you will have all your networks
    on the Hamachi user interface when you reinstall LogMeIn Hamachi.
              Click Yes.
              Enter your Mac user password and click OK.

    LogMeIn installs a at boot kernel extension file into OS X itself to operate, it can only be uninstalled using their uninstaller.
    If it has a problem uninstalling, install it again to return all files, then uninstall it.
    If that doesn't work, you can hold Shift key upon booting and head to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions  and find the LogMeIn kext file and move it to the Desktop. Then reboot to get out of Safe Mode.
    If that doesn't work, then perform a #8 Reinstall Just OS X, Software Update fully and reinstall from original sources any other programs that fail to function correctly, however you might not be able to get 10.6 compatible copies of those programs again. Thus the manual method.

  • Remove Updater from menu bar

    Hi,
    Need help please.
    1. How do I remove the annoying Adobe Updater Icon in the menu bar on a Mac running Yosemite?
    Nothing seems to get rid of it.
    2. Why do I have two of each application, eg. "Adobe Illustrator CC" and "Adobe illustrator CC 2014", "Adobe InDesign CC" and "Adobe InDesign CC 2014" - they all seem to appear in the updater too.
    - Can I delete one of them safely?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    To remove any Adobe application, you can run the uninstaller for the same or you may use the CC cleaner tool:

  • Remove item from menu bar.

    To keep this short...
    Installed Norton Personal Firewall. Turns out it is not compatable with Intel Macs. I uninstalled Norton, removed it from the start-up items, but I cannot find a way to remove the Norton icon from the menu bar. Apple + drag does not work.
    Any suggestions?

    Nothing in login and I went to the link and downloaded what I thought would be the appropriate un-installer. When I opened the un-installer it opened in Text Edit and looked something like a bunch of crazy symbols.
    I used the un-installer that came with disk and after I hit un-install, I got a message that just read "error" over and over, but the icon in the menu bar was gone. However, the next time that I started the MacBook I was greeted with a prompt that I installed software that could pose a security risk and that I should re-start the computer. I did eventually re-start and the icon is now back in the menu bar which I believe would indicate the Norton is still on my MacBook...somewhere.....what the heck!?

  • Removing Modem From Menu Bar

    Hi,
    I have a BlackBook.
    No Modem - but a Modem Status icon in my menu bar.
    System Prefs > Network > Show
    there is no "Modem" option. So I can't find any way to unclick "show modem status in menubar", which I remember from my last PowerBook Al G4.
    Help?

    Try holding down the ⌘ key down while dragging to pull the icon off the menu bar.

  • Unable to remove something from Menu Bar

    I was setting up a VPN client, but something went wrong... I had checked the option to show the status in the menu bar, and since then every time I put the cursor on the icon I get the Beachball of Death. Also, my clock is stuck.
    I've de-selected the option for that status item, but it made no difference. I tried FQ'ing Settings and Finder, but that didn't help. How else can I get that icon off the menu bar?

    Memu extras shown on the menu bar are stored in the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file in your /Library/Preferences/. This Terminal app command lists all enabled:
    *defaults read com.apple.systemuiserver menuExtras*

  • No Bottom Menu Bar

    Can anyone help me?  Without thinking I did anything different, I no longer have the bar last lists all my open pages at the bottom of my screen.  So I can't easily go from page to page without first minimizing!  I can't even see the clock or the date.  The open page or document completely covers it.  I tried system restore, picked a date a couple of weeks ago, before this happened and that wouldn't work!  What is going on?!?  Please help!  Thanks!

    I have no main menu, no way to see bookmarks, no access to ← → function, after looking thru manual due to not being able to access functions, I find that I am missing a graphic tool bar to select functions.

  • Remove padding on menu bar and toolbar

    Hi,
    Is there a way of removing the extra margin at the bottom of JMenus and JToolBars?
    I've highlighted the margins in red so you can see them better:
    http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=paddingapp4rm.png
    Also, it it possible to remove the drag area on the toolbar and the square borders around the images in the toolbar?
    Here's the code that creates the menus and toolbars:
       public SnakeLadder()
          super("Snakes & Ladders");
          setLayout(new FlowLayout());
          JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar();
          setJMenuBar(menuBar);
          menuBar.add(fileMenu());
          menuBar.add(gameMenu());
          menuBar.add(helpMenu());
          JToolBar toolBar = new JToolBar();
          add(toolBar,BorderLayout.PAGE_START);
          toolBar.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(WIDTH,30));
          toolBar.add(newGameButton());
          toolBar.add(saveGameButton());
          toolBar.add(loadGameButton());
          JPanel gamePanel = new JPanel();
          add(gamePanel,BorderLayout.CENTER);
          gamePanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(WIDTH,HEIGHT));
          gamePanel.setBackground(new Color(212,208,200));
          pack();

    hi,
    I am not sure whether we can completely hide these icons from the user.
    But there is a workaround to disable these icons.
    CMC > Applications > Web Intelligence > Your Group > Assign Security > Advanced > Add/Remove Rights > Application > Web Intelligence
    Deny the following
    - Data Tracking: Enable for users
    - Data Tracking: Enable format display changes by users
    - Enable drill mode

  • I lost my bottom tool bar and the apps I was running down there. I need to have it back but your update removed something that I use.

    I have run a Hebrew calendar that sits in the bottom tool bar. I have used this calendar and rely on it, but your Firefox 5 update has removed the bottom tool bar and I want my Hebrew calendar restored. What good is updating a piece of software that works by creating something that does not work? I will stop using and stop recommending my end users to switch to Firefox if you keep removing parts that are needed.
    I am help desk support for a large federal government agency and until you broke Firefox with this latest update, I would suggest that my users switch to Firefox, but unless this bug is fixed I will stop doing that.

    Does the Add-on Bar have a check-mark?

  • How do you make the Safari menu bars at the top and bottom of the browser go away in iOS7 when you can't scroll the screen?

    The menu bar at the bottom of Safari screens only goes away if you scroll the screen.  But for one page content, the screen can't be scrolled which renders useless any links/buttons at the bottom of the page.
    Is there a fix for this in iOS7?
    In iOS6, users needed only to tap the screen to remove the Safari menu bars.  This does not work in iOS6.

    In Safari > View choose Exit Full Screen
