I have just updated to yosmite and in the setup it puts a password in to open your mac. I would like to know how to remove this please.

Open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences and enable automatic login. You may need to turn off FileVault in the Security & Privacy pane to be able to do this.

When you connect a local account to a Microsoft Account, then the logon password will also be changed to the password of your live account, this is unavoidable, but if you think that typing the password every time is too annoying, then we can use a PIN
instead, move the mouse to the right charm bar\Change PC settings\Accounts\Sign-in options, type four digit number as your password
We can also use autologon tool to automatically logon to the account after you start your machine, but please note that this might cause potential security issue because everyone who get the machine can have access to to your Microsoft Account.

How too remove log in password

Hi all.
Can you please help me as iam well and truly stock now
I had too reinstall my software on the mini now i put the re install software that it came with and i filled all the forms out including my password which never changes in all my mac's then i went and upgraded by the disc to OSX 10.5 Leopard.
All ok i used the time machine from the Power PC G5 which iam writing this on now by the way too put all my programs and itunes on.
All seamed ok but it said on the start up screen Power Pc G5 !!!.
And when i went to put in my password it went and done the side too side wobble no i know my password and it never changes and i tried caps lock on and off but no go i never use caps lock anyway but i thought prehaps that was the problem.
So i cannot get in to the computer now oh dear.
Can anybody tell me is there a way to reset the password by anychance.
All help or advise would be much apreciated.

It can't possibly be that bad. Here is something else to consider.
Follow this procedure to create a new, temporary Administrator account from which you can fix your normal one. Please read everything that follows before continuing. If you have only the one computer you should print it for reference.
Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime or grey screen, hold ⌘ and S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
At the localhost:/ root# prompt, type
fsck -fy and press Return.
This is a simple check for file system integrity and is optional. It may take a few minutes to complete. Be patient. If you get concerned that it has stalled press the Return key. When the integrity check completes pressing the Return key will result in the localhost prompt again.
At the localhost:/ root# prompt, type the following exactly as written, one line at a time, each line followed by the return key. There is a single space preceding the first "slash" ( / ) character in each line:
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
reboot
The Mac will restart, and then take you through the entire setup and registration process that you have not seen since you originally unboxed it. Do not be concerned - all of your pre-existing user accounts are still available.
Do not elect to transfer your information from another Mac: When you get to the "Do You Already Own a Mac" screen, select "Do not transfer my information" and press Continue. Have your existing Apple ID and password ready. Remember the password you select.
When it completes, log in under that new account. Depending on your OS X version it may log you in automatically. Use System Preferences > Accounts (or Users & Groups) to change your previous account back to Admin, and log out.
Log in using your old account. Delete the throwaway account you just created.

Did you migrate when you first booted up in Setup Assistant or did you migrate later? When you migrate later it can create a second account, check in Mac HD/Users to see if this is the situation.

Hi,
you should not delete the logvolumes.
For your case it would suffice to switch on the auto-overwrite mode of the log.
You can do this most conveniently by using the Database Manager GUI.
1. Put the DB instance in state ADMIN
2. Goto 'COnfiguration' -> 'Log Settings'.
3. From the wizard select 'Overwrite Mode...' and follow the described follow-ups.

Shut down TestStand
Browse to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\<TestStand> and click the Cfg folder
Delete Users.ini
Restart TestStand
It should re-create the Users.ini file.
WARNING: You will delete any other users for that machine.

Hi, I recently bough this computer and reluctantly (cause I knew it would cause a problem) agreed to let HP Simple Pass help me manage my passwords about a month into ownership.
When I originally set up my computer I did not create any passwords for the log on (no need for me to). If prompted I just clicked enter. As far as I remember, before I set up HP Simple Pass, I was not prompted to log on at start up or I just clicked enter and- it loaded straight to my desk top. I certainly never had to type anything.
After using Simple Pass, I am prompted at log on for a password, or to swipe a finger. I've been using the finger swipe just fine but today decided it was a pain and I just want it back the way it was. That is when I discovered that Windows thinks I have a Log on password. I have tried any and all passwords I know, including all the ones I entered into Simple Pass. I have tried just hitting enter, "password", you name it and it won't let me on. I can still gain access with the finger swipe but in the settings for the software it does not show any information about Windows Log On. (You can for example view other account passwords, just nothing about Windows Log On).
I tried accessing it through my device manager and I found where I can disable this, but alas, I need the Windows logon password that Simple Pass [evidently] assigned.
Can someone please suggest what is going on? I am sure this will lead to a problem in the future and I am so sick of trying to fix broken computers (hence why I bought a new one).

I have only seen this a couple of times and I don't have the answer...
I do not know how you managed to set up SimplePass without a typed in Windows password. OK, having said that: if you have done it, then it's done.
I would suggest that you get yourself over to AuthenTec, sign up for their forum, and ask this question in the context of the SimplePass (maybe omitting the dislike of the product since it is, after all, their means of being in business).
Why do this? Because I don't think it should have happened. From the few entries I have seen on the AuthenTec forum, Miroslav Buran (at AuthenTec) is knowlegable in his field and may be able to help you straighten this out before it causes problems.
Be sure to explain that you are using HP SimplePass and let them know the exact version of the SmplePass Software to get the best help. Tell them your Operating System / bit, too.
When SimplePass IS used in conjunction with a Windows password (as intended), it works very well as a rule.
I am sorry your introduction to the tool was rocky and your experience has been less than stellar.
I would be very interested in hearing how this is resolved. If I find anything helpful, I will post back to you here.
