Remove MobileMe Galleries

I demoed a mobileme account for a little and while I was doing that I uploaded some albums from iPhoto to a gallery. In the end I decided I didn't want to keep the account and canceled it. the problem is I canceled it before removing the mobileme galleries in iPhoto and now when I try to delete them from iPhoto I get an error that iPhoto can't connect to mobileme. Any ideas??
Thanks for the help.

Answering my own question ...
It appears to be a DNS problem/issue with Safari or MobileMe or my ISP or a combination of them.
I always use my ISP's DNS servers. But trying some others show the problems. Google's are slow, but Open-DNS is as fast as Firefox. (I wonder if Firefox are doing some sort of DNS juggling internally?). Using Automatic and the router for DNS is slow too.
(BTW ... I had already reset Safari etc.)
The issue for Aperture remains though, in that it is supplying an erroneous/out-of-date URL for MobileMe galleries.

  • MobileMe Galleries showing up in Multiple Libraries

I publish MobileMe galleries from different computers to my MobileMe account and those computers have multiple Aperture Libraries. I have noticed that some of my Aperture Libraries sync my MobileMe galleries that were created on different computers or different libraries back to that library even though the masters are not in that library. To make things more confusing, just some of my Aperture Libraries do this and others do not. Is this normal behavior?

  • IWeb 09 issue with displaying MobileMe Galleries in Weblog

    Hello everyone,
I searched but did not see this exact issue. I upgraded to iLife 09 this week and my site from iWeb 08 opened successfully in iWeb 09 (although everything was Red). After adding 3 new blog entries, I decided to publish today. At first, the publish entire site errored out with the progress circle half way. I simply tried again and it finally completed the publish entire site.
I checked my website on-line on a Mac using Safari, and on Windows using I.E. and Safari, and have the same problem on all three.
All of my weblog entries that contain a MobileMe Gallery (both photos and videos) are fine in iWeb just as they were before the upgrade. However, when I view the weblog on line, the Web Galleries do not show up on any of the blog entries. There is just a blank space where they used to be.
I also checked my actual Web Gallery on both Mac and Windows and can view content on both. I repaired permissions before my publish and I have noticed one item since I upgraded to 10.5.6 this week (also). I get a permission error related to "Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeMediaBrowser.Framework" that does not appear to get repaired because it shows up every time I repair permissions. I also get another unrepaired permission related to "CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle" but I don't think that is related to this issue.
I have always received excellent help on this forum when encountering an issue and am hoping there is one for this issue. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Having read many of the comments here on this forum, I feel fortunate that my issues were not worse. Here is the URL of a weblog entry that should have 4 MobileMe Galleries at the bottom:
    http://web.me.com/sabretado/sabretado/Weblog/Entries/2009/2/19Monterey_Bay_Aquarium_and_Fisherman’sWharf.html
    Thanks in advance,
    Santiago

    http://web.me.com/sabretado/sabretado/Weblog/Entries/2009/2/19Monterey_Bay_Aquarium_and_Fisherman’sWharf.html
Your URL contains apostrophe character, iweb javascript code had been changed in web09.
It converts special character in your URL path to UTF escape codes and lost in translation when try to use it.
You galleries are there in the widget mark files, but iweb javascript can not read its own (LOL!) widget markup URL:
    http://web.me.com/sabretado/sabretado/Weblog/Entries/2009/2/../../../../Weblog/E ntries/2009/2/19Monterey_Bay_Aquarium_and_Fisherman%E2%80%99s_Wharf_files/widget2markup.html
notice the %E2%80%99, that's UTF character.
Try to remove the apostrophe character from your page name and give them feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html

  • MobileMe Galleries created in Aperture are syncing with iPhoto

I used to use iPhoto, but switched to Aperture 3.  Now when I create a MobileMe Gallery, the photos publish to the site but don't show up in the Aperture library under MobileMe.  When I log in to the Mobileme site, I check the settings for the gallery and it says it is syncing with iPhoto.  I can change it to Aperture manually, and then it will show up properly when I go back to Aperture, but I can't figure out why it's defaulting to iPhoto.  I went  into the iPhoto preferences and removed all accounts, and there also are not any photos in iPhoto at all. Any help is appreciated.
    Nate

Thanks Richard, very helpful. I wondered why I couldn't see my old mobileme galleries in Aperture.
I have swapped between iPhoto '09, Aperture 3, iPhoto '11 and now back to Aperture. Whilst I love the ease of use and relative speed of iPhoto, Aperture's adjustments and masters/versions handling has the edge for me now that my masters collection is too big for my MBP. And with a clean install of Lion my machine now seems more responsive than it has been for a while.
Changing the setting of each gallery is a bit dull, is there a global 'manage mobile me galleries with iPhoto/Aperture' setting anywhere?

  • Sync MobileMe Galleries to iPhone/iPod

iTunes (8.1.1) continues to give options for syncing All Photos, All/Some Events or All/Some Albums.
BUT does anyone know how you can sync All/Some MobileMe galleries from iPhoto '09 onto the iPhone/iPod via iTunes?
I realise that the iPhone can access the MobileMe galleries over the web, but there are times when it would just be a lot quicker and easier having the photos on the device itself. And, of course, the web is not an option for my iPod! The reason I want this is that the MobileMe galleries tend to be my polished presentations - all the non-essential photos have been removed, and often they contain photos from multiple events/albums.
    Cheers!
    C.

    Hi LN,
Thanks for the quick response. This certainly is an option, and so far, the only option that I have found. It does, though, have a few drawbacks:
Creating an album for each MobileMe gallery would need to be performed each time a new MobileMe gallery is created. I create my MobileMe galleries on a different machine to the one on which I sync my iPhone/iPod, so it would then require management of MobileMe galleries on one Mac and management of a corresponding album on another Mac! Much easier if I could sync straight from the MobileMe galleries that are automatically sync'ed between my Macs.
Also, since many of my MobileMe galleries are put together firstly as albums, I would end up with several duplicate or nearly duplicate albums - would need careful management of the albums, again because of the differing machines.
Creating one single album for all my MobileMe galleries would mean that all the photos are lumped together under one category on the iPhone/iPod. This would make navigating to the appropriate photos much harder.
But perhaps most importantly, when photos are uploaded to an existing MobileMe gallery (either by myself or by others), these uploaded photos would not automatically be added to the corresponding album. I would, therefore, need to manage the albums manually, making sure I manually add in any new photos. I had thought that a Smart Album could sort this issue out, but it appears that Smart Albums cannot be created using a MobileMe gallery as their source...go figure!
Anyway, thanks very much for the input.

  • HT5132 MobileMe Galleries Migration

Hi- How do I refuse the downloading of MobileMe Galleries and stop this message from coming up in Aperture? I have all the photos that are in my Galleries.

    Jane,
if Aperture still is downloading, quit or force quit. Launch Aperture again.
When the MM-alert panel appears, select "Learn more", not "o.k." Ignore the webpage that will be shown.
Open the Aperture preferences, then the "Web" tab, and remove Mobile Me from the "accounts" tab.
Then open the System Preferences, Mobile Me panel, and sign out of Mobile Me, if this panel still is available in your Preferences.
If this does not work, disconnect from the Internet, before you launch Aperture again.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Stop checking for MobileMe galleries

Help! My Aperature has frozen, continually checking + updating "MobileMe Galleries".  I went to Aperature>Preferences>Web to uncheck the box for "Automatically check for newly published albums" but the spinning ball of death won't let me uncheck it.
I can't use Aperature at all.  Have Force Quit a few times.  Have restarted computer too.

Does this standard procedure not work?
Force quit Aperture, if it is still running.
When the "MobileMe" panel appears, select "learn more", not "ok". Ignore the web page, that will appear.
In Aperture open the Preferences, go to the "Web" panel accounts pane and delete the "MobileMe" account.
If this does not work, disconnect from the internet before lauching Aperture (disable Wi-fi or unplug the ethernet cable). Then proceed as above.
Aperture should have stopped nagging by now, since it is no longer possible to migrate the MobileMe contents. If all fails, open the User library in the Finder (Finder menu bar > Go, hold own the alt/option key, until "Library" appears in the menu, select "Library")
    Remove the file:
    Your User Library > Preferences > com.apple.Aperture.plist
from the "Preferences" folder to the Desktop.
    Also clear the file
    Your User Library > Caches >com.apple.Aperture > mmsunset.plist
    from the Aperture caches.
Post back, if this does not help.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • I Finally Found A Solution To Removing MobileMe Off MacBook

I had posted a question in trying to find some way to disable or remove MobileMe off of the MacBook because I kept getting that MobileMe pop up dialog box telling me to sign in, even though I originally signed up for the 60 day trial of .mac. The account settings from .mac carried over to MobileMe, but I never used the account and forgot about it until I started designing a test website design using iWeb. Every time I tried to publish or visit to test the site, MobileMe box kept popping up and I just wanted to disable it, but couldn't get rid of it. I could not sign in with my original @mac.com name and passwords were not working to deactivate or cancel the account.
My advice here is only for Mac users who are not using MobileMe or don't intend to sign up for the service in the future. If you are using it for your website, then please disregard the procedure.
First, you will need to download a free utility app, Find File. When you run the app, just open it and a dialog box will pop up and the alert will post as: Find items whose name contains: type MobileMe. You will then get a list with many files and their links which are mostly located in the System Library, but there are others and some are invisible unless you use Find File app. Keep trashing the files until you get a "0" list and you will also notice that the MobileMe icon has been removed for the System Preferences. You will also probably have to type in yur Admin password to remove the files.
After all the MobileMe files have been dumped, Repair Permissions, restart and test your various Mac apps and 3rd party software.
I can make no guarantee that my procedure will work in your particular system, so please do this at your own risk. I worried about kernel panics or startup issues, but so far things seem to be OK.
There is also a chance that using iWeb will still try to access MobileMe, so if that happens, we will have to investigate this issue further. I also did the same procedure to dump that annoying iGlasses plug-in 7 day trial that popped up every time I opened iChat and FireFox for over a year! ind File found the iGlasses files and dumped them and finally, hopefully, that plug-in is dead.
Please report back here if you found success in removing MobileMe, only of course if you are sure you don't need it.
    Steve

One more thing I failed to mention. As you find the MobileMe files and their links, you may want to back those up or drop them in a master folder on the desktop and make a list of where in the System/Library they are located. I did this myself just in case I had to reinstall them.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • HT201317 I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

  • IWeb not finding my MobileMe Galleries

I've just found the MobileMe Gallery widget and wanted to play around with it to see what exactly it does and what it looks like. I've made a new blank page to try it out and dragged the widget onto the page, but the little floating box says "(No albums or movies)" in the Display option, and the the box on the page says, "Upload an album or movie to MobileMe and then select it from this widget's menu."
I clicked the "Learn more" link on the floating box and read the help page. It didn't help. It just said that if there's nothing in that Display menu, that I'm either not connected to the internet or I haven't published any albums or movies. Both are wrong, though. I'm connected to the internet; I'm posting this, and have been browsing other sites as well, including my own MobileMe Gallery page...which brings me to my next point, which is that the other condition is also wrong: I do have albums published to MobileMe. Many galleries. And they're all there, they all work, iPhoto is in sync with them, etc. And it's the same MobileMe account, no doubt about that.
So why doesn't the widget in iWeb seem to know about my MobileMe galleries? Or is there some important fact or concept I'm completely overlooking?

That has been an ongoing problem here. First try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
Next, create a new test gallery in iPhoto and publish. Then launch iWeb and try again. Some have said that the new gallery worked to jumpstart iWeb.

  • Aperture 3 and MobileMe Galleries created in iPhoto

I wanted to post this to hopefully help someone else should they run into the same thing.
I recently upgraded from point and shoot camera's to a higher quality camera, so I also decided that it was time to upgrade from iPhoto to something better.  I decided on Aperture as I am not quite ready to commit to the expense and time to learn something as complex as Photoshop.
Well, the first time I opened Aperture and told it to import my iPhoto library, it worked without any difficulty.  But, I noticed something was missing.  My MobileMe galleries where not displayed in the inspector window for Aperture.  I could not for the life of me, figure out how to get them to show up in there either.
I went to the Apple store and talked to some Aperture users there and no one could seem to tell me how to fix this.  It was even more frustrating because all of my photo albums from FaceBook came up in Aperture just fine.
Finally in a last ditch, hail mary pass, of an idea, I went to the web UI for my MobileMe galleries.  I figured that maybe if I edited something about those galleries, they would then show up in Aperture.
Well, I went into the properties for one of the galleries that I was not seeing in Aperture, and low and behold, there in the properties was an option to choose what application that gallery would sync to.  The only options are iPhoto or Aperture, so I changed each gallery to show Aperture as the chosen app to sync with.
Finally they now show in Aperture, of course, as you might expect, they no longer show in iPhoto.
I have no idea why the Import process does not warn you about this, and / or offer to change them for you, but it was very frustrating.
If this can help someone else new to Aperture to avoid this frustration, then I am glad.

Thanks Richard, very helpful. I wondered why I couldn't see my old mobileme galleries in Aperture.

  • Add old/existing mobileme galleries to Aperture?

I have created mobileme galleries with iPhone and iPhoto on another computer, and would now like to be able to manage them on Aperture 3. Is this possible?
I have imported the old iPhoto library, but none of the mobileme galleries imported.
I have already created a new mobileme gallery from Aperture, so I'm signed in ok.

    You might try this.
View your mobileme gallery via your web browser.
    Single click on your gallery.
Then click on the "Adjust settings" button (Looks like two sliders)
Look towards the bottom of the pane and you'll find "Syncs with"
You might be able to change that from iPhoto to Aperture

  • MobileMe galleries and Aperture stacks

I'm using MobileMe galleries to share and display some photos. It seems you can't upload images from within Aperture projects when they're stacked, at least only the images on the top of the stacks. I often want to upload a whole project, without unstacking, so I just want to selec-all and create a new album. But all I'm uploading are the top images of each stack. Does anyone know what the solution might be?
    Many thanks,
    Richard

    Richard,
This is expected behavior when using Stacks. The purpose of a stack is to stack groups several images of which you only intend to use one, known as the pick.
One solution to allow you to keep your stacks but use all the images in MobileMe Gallery, is to create a Smart Album within the project and use this Smart Album for your MobileMe Gallery.
Smart Albums you create offer the option Ignore stack groupings by unchecking the "Include stack picks only" from the Smart Album criterion. If this option is deselected (the default for a Smart Album), then all images that meet the criteria for the Smart Album will be available in the Media pane, regardless of stack pick status.
See: Working with Stacks - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2940
See: "Handling of Stacked Images" in Tips on Sharing with iLife - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1056
    Hope this helps

  • MobileMe Galleries Slow and address redirected

I use MobileMe galleries increasingly with Aperture. They have worked well and are fast and easy.
In the last few days, I have noticed a serious slow down with viewing galleries in Safari. Specifically, I've noticed that the page loads almost completely (slowly) then redirects to a very slightly changed name. So where the page address as shown in Aperture is for example : http://gallery.me.com/membername100123 ... it starts to load this page (slowly) then when almost done, redirects to this page : http://gallery.me.com/membername#100123. Note the '#' character. This page also loads incredibly slowly. By slow I mean at around 10KBs to 40KBs.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what is happening? Anyone else seeing the same thing?
Why is Aperture creating incorrectly addressed galleries? Any suggestions about how to fix this?

    Answering my own question ...
It appears to be a DNS problem/issue with Safari or MobileMe or my ISP or a combination of them.

  • Photo sharing replacement for mobileme galleries

    HI all,
I'm sure there are others out there, like me, who built their entire gallery strategy on using Apple's "mobileme galleries," and now you have had to find a replacement for that becuase as we all know....There will be no replacement for Galleries in iCloud, you'll need to find another service to host your photos.
So..what have you people done to solve the issue.
I'd love to know. I am still using iWeb and have a host for my site, but I need something to get some galleries on display. I used to love using the  "mobileme galleries" and really miss that so much. It was so elegant and simple.
If there are any suggestions you can share, please fire away.
Thanks in advance, and so long for now, TOM
