I did end up using EXCLUDE as the wonders of Google . I never knew about EXCLUDE but it is very handy indeed. I love reading Cameron's blog except I need to pull out a dictionary . Thanks for your reply and link to blog. It confirmed my findings

Contact 'Sync' not working. Am I doing something wrong?
I am completely new to iPhone, but willing to give it a shot before I call it quits. I was told if I activate my Gmail account, all contacts would sync onto the phone - which is not the case [or at least didn't work right for me]. That said, I searched on the web and in the iPhone Support Community for an answer and haven't found specifically what I am looking for. This is where I am at now:
I've exported my Gmail contacts to my MacBook's Address Book. I see all the contacts there from my Gmail account.
I've already gone into iTunes and plugged in my phone to Sync - choosing the contact options available, specifically related to my Gmail account. Again, not all contacts were synced.
I've also tried the Exchange Mail settings as suggested by Google's website, and that hasn't worked.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to Sync my MacBook's Address book to the iTunes folder so it will all Sync to my phone accordingly?

The text in the column header does not change. It uses what is in the dictionary.Try setting the set_ddic_binding_field( '00' ).

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat in order to convert a pdf to an excel program but it appears that it will only convert to Word, not excel? Am I doing something wrong or should I cancel my subscription?

So I am transferring all of my InDesign files over to my boss because I am leaving my job, but all of the photos placed in the layouts I've created show up blurry when he opens the files on his own computer. We've tried relinking the files, even! We may be doing it wrong, so first of all, could I get a detailed step-by-step to relinking files? Secondly, if that doesn't work, what else would you suggest?
Info that may or may not help: I have a PC, he has a Mac, we used Google Drive to share the files, and I've already tried packaging the files.
Thanks!Is it now the appearance in ID only or also PDF output? If the output is fine, it may just be the screen display settings. ID by default shows a low res screen copy. You can check on the boss' computer by selecting an image, right click and change the setting...near the bottom of the menu.
Also, in the links panel, are all the images up to date? -
Crossfade not working or am I doing it wrong?
I just installed the latest preview on my Mac, and have enabled the crossfade option in the preferences, but new tracks just start playing straight away with no crossfading occurring.Is this not working, or am I confused as how the crossfade should work (it says in the blog "fading out one song as you bring another in" but it doesn't appear to work like that)?
Hello, I report also that crossfade does not work properly. It works only when songs are in queve. But what if I want to stop song and change to antoher on the fly, the crossfade don't work. This is very bad in party situations when you find people don't like the song, so you would want in a good spot to crossfade next song or hit next song button to start on the fly new song. But then comes the **bleep**tiest feature of soptify, crossfade does not work. Song is stoppe right away, then next song is starting to load. PLEASE, PLEASE soptify, update your crossfade to work ALWAYS, when hitting next button, when starting new song via play button or in any method, when starting a song use crossfade songs. Please fix this.

So are you saying there is a better way or another way to do that? Or are you just telling me that's how it works? Because I know that the includeIn isn't creating the other buttons untill they are needed. I need them created when the button is created. That is my question, how do I get the other states to be created when the button is created so that I don't see the button flash black?

We have a new iPad Mini, and I'm having inconsistent results using Bookmarks in the Safari icon.
For a long time, on the iPad, I could only see five items under the Bookmark icons and the Bookmarks Bar was empty.
Occasionally, in Safari, the iPad would pick up and display all of the Bookmarks from the Safari browser on my iMac.
Other times, there are only a bare few Bookmarks available on the iPad, the Bookmarks Bar goes away and I cannot save a new Bookmark. It looks like I can save one, but I cannot find it after allegedly saving.
Then, all of the Bookmarks will come back and I can save a new Bookmark again. We can't figure out why all of the Bookmarks will show and then they won't.
I want to think this involves iCloud some way, but for right now, I'm stumped. Perhaps we're just too inexperienced and haven't come around the learning curve yet.

SteveNo, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue. When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab. But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back. When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.

What do you mean by - it won't do anything? You cannot verify the email address? You are using his Apple ID email address for his contact at email address?

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
Brand new macbook pro does not start up am i doing something wrong
well i went to the apple store and baught a brand new core i7 17 inch macbook pro i am new to apple and this is my first time purchesing an apple product when i got it out of the box i plugged it in and let it charge before turning it on then i turned it on and it made a sound but then it comes up with a picture of a folder on a gray screen with a questionmark and there is like a clicking noise from inside am i missing something because i ave never used one before or is this not normal thanks
The clicking suggests you got a unit with a bad hard drive. Bring it back and exchange it for a another new one.

27" iMac audio in not working or am I doing it wrong?
Fortunately I am not experiencing any display issues on my quad-core iMac, yet... However, I am trying to use the audio-in port and seem to be having problems. When I input an audio signal (analog, like from an iPod headphone jack) I can see the "meter" bouncing in the Sound System Setting panel. However, I do not hear the music on the iMac's speakers.
I do not see anything that says the port is digital only and I have the audio input and output set correctly. Is there something else that needs to be configured to hear the sounds on the iMacs's speakers?You will need a little app like Linein from Rogue Amoeba. It is a freebie!
LineIn is a simple application for OS X to enable the soft playthru of audio from input devices. In simpler terms, you can use LineIn to play sound coming in through a microphone or any other device plugged in to your Sound In port, just as was once available with OS 9's "Play input through output device" option.

My 9630's back light will not turn off, am I doing something wrong?
I have had my Blackberry Tour 9630 through Verizon for a week or so now, and the back light will never dim out. It just stays on all the time. It will dim slightly when the environment is darker like it should but it won't ever black all the way out. My battery is barely lasting an entire night. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Please stop me if this seems all to basic... In Options / Screen/Keyboard set backlight to a respectably low value (I have mine at 20 and it's still plenty bright). Then under it set the Timeout to 1 Min or 90 Sec. I have Auto Dim set to No. My battery lasts two days with these settings with moderate data usage.

Serial VISA operation does not work while PC Software does
Hello everyone.
I am using LabVIEW to communicate with a control box via VISA Serial. I can communicate with this control box in most areas just fine, like the data monitoring function which I use without any problems. The one thing I'm having trouble with is calibrating the unit. Calibration is done by opening a binary file and transferring the data 16 bytes at a time over serial using a 16 byte write command, which has this structure: [Command, in this case "P"][2 byte address starting at 3800 HEX][16 bytes of data][1 byte checksum]. I am calculating the checksum correctly, and documentation says that the box should respond to any command within 100 milliseconds.
When I attempt to do this, the box responds with an E several times (E is supposed to mean checksum error, even though I'm correctly calculating it), then stops responding to anything at all. The weird thing is that this box comes with software that can calibrate it and that software has no problems with it!
I tried using SuperMon to capture what the software sends over serial and compare it to what I send, and from what I can see, it sends the same data that I do, only it works and mine doesn't. I also tried using SuperMon to manually send the calibration one 16 byte write function at a time, and it seems to have the same problem.
It seems because their software works, I must be doing something wrong. Here's a screen shot of my code that I'm trying to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had another look at the NI Spy data, and it seems that some hex values are unprintable, maybe this is why they don't show up in the ascii part of the property window.
That's exactly what I meant. Hmmm, the serial port is config'd the same way it is for the parts of the code that work? Maybe there's a framing issue so the data is offset and the UUT sees it as garbage?

i am new to mac air. Today i installed (unsuccessfully!) MAPLE16 on my mac book air. Now since it does not work properly (it also does not appear in applications) i decide to delete it. I could not remove it from launchpad . i need urgent help from your side.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmyrmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
You may be advised by others to try to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name, or by running "utilities" that purport to remove software. I don't give such advice. Those tactics often will not work and maymake the problem worse.
