Remove Oracle

Hi ,
How can I remove Oracle S/W and Database completely from Windows and Linux machines.
Thanx in advance.

WARNING:
1. Remove all Oracle components from your computer only as a last resort,
and only if you want to remove ALL Oracle components from your system.
2. These instructions remove all Oracle components, services, and registry
entries from your computer. In addition, any database files in the
subdirectories under ORACLE_BASE\ORADATA\ are also removed.
3. These procedures will also remove Oracle network configuration files,
user written scripts and any other user generated files that may be stored
in Oracle_Base directories.
4. Exercise extreme care when removing registry entries. Removing incorrect
entries can severely compromise your computer.
MANUALLY REMOVING ALL ORACLE COMPONENTS AND SERVICES FROM YOUR COMPUTER
A. Removing Components on Windows NT/2000.
To remove all Oracle components from a computer on Windows NT/Windows 2000:
1. Check privileges:
1.a. Ensure you are logged in as a user with Administrator privileges.
2. Stop all Oracle services (if any are running):
2.a. NT: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services.
2000: Right click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services
2.b. If any Oracle services (their names begin with Oracle) exist and have
the status Started, select the service and click Stop.
2.c. Click Close to exit the Services window.
2.d. Close the Control Panel/Computer Management window.
3. Remove the entries in the Windows registry:
3.a. Start the registry editor:
Choose Start > Run > regedt32
3.b. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
Note the value of the key INST_LOC, this is the location of the Oracle Universal
Installer. The default location is C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory. If this
value is different, make note of it, so we can delete these files later.
Delete this ORACLE key.
3.c. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC and expand all subkeys and
remove all keys under here which are related with the
"Oracle ODBC Driver"
3.d. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and remove
all keys under here that begin with ORACLE or ORAWEB.
3.e. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\...
\Application and remove all keys under here that begin with ORACLE.
3.f. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
and remove any entries related to Oracle.
3.g. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, remove all keys that begin with Oracle, OraPerf or
OraOLEDB
3.h. Close the registry.
4. Clean up the environment settings:
4.a. NT: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Environment tab
2000: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab >
Environment variables.
4.b. At "System Variables" click on the variable PATH in order to modify
the value. For example, you may see a path similar to this one:
C:\ORACLE\ORA81\BIN;C:\PROGRAM FILES\ORACLE\JRE\1.1.7\BIN
4.c. If an %ORACLE_HOME% was installed, remove this %ORACLE_HOME%\BIN path.
4.d. If JRE was installed by Oracle, remove the JRE path.
4.e. If there is a CLASSPATH variable under "System Variables", first make note
of the path defined, then delete it. This variable can be added back at
a later date if needed.
4.f. Check if there are any other Oracle variables set in "System Variables",
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID or TNS_ADMIN. If these exist, delete them also.
4.g. Click on APPLY and OK.
4.h. Close the Control Panel window.
5. Delete the software and icons:
5.a. NT: Choose Start > Programs > Windows NT Explorer.
2000: Choose Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows NT Explorer.
5.b. NT: Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\WINNT\PROFILES\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS
2000: Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS
(Note: These locations depend on whether OS was upgraded from NT,
or this was a fresh install of 2000)
and delete the following icons:
- Oracle - HOME_NAME
where HOME_NAME is the previous Oracle home name.
- Oracle Installation Products
5.c. Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\Program Files\Oracle or the location of INST_LOC as
noted earlier in step 3.b and delete this directory.
5.d Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\Temp and delete all files and directories in here.
5.e. Go to the drive where the Oracle software is installed on your machine
and delete all ORACLE_BASE directories on your hard drive.
5.f. Close the Windows NT Explorer.
6. Finish the removal:
6.a. Empty the recycle bin
Right click on recycle bin > Empty Recycle Bin.
6.b. Reboot your computer.

    - pay attention to any errors that would indicate that there are
still registry entries or that something is attempting to load
    5. Oracle Home directories 를 삭제
    - use File Manager to delete all the Oracle software
이렇게 하면 oracle 관련 system 이 삭제가 된 상태이며 다시 제품을
    install 하면 됩니다.

I just went through this with Oracle support. The only solution is to replace the logo.gif file with 1X1.gif (copy 1x1.gif to logo.gif). That gets rid of the Oracle logo, but not the box, nor the copyright statement.
According to Oracle support this is by default and cannot be modified. They claim to be concidering this for a future release.
Let me ask, Are you running this as a portlet within a page? or as part of a dynamic page or calling it alone?
If you are calling it alone, run it as a full page, and choose a template that has minimal formatiing. I think it is called portal_template_example1 ??
If you are running it a portlet in a page, edit the page region and uncheck show portlet headers.
If you are running it as part of a daynamic page then you can run it by using the run as a stored procedure example (manage, show)
but nothing else io the dynamic page will show.
If you you have more questions, e-mail me.

  • Remove "ORACLE" from UIShell

    Experts,
How do we remove ORACLE which is displayed in UIShell used as a template in Jdev 11.1.2.1 ?
    thnks

    Hi,
the header uses three facets. So the image needs to be small enough to fit into one of these. Alternatively you can download the template sources (at theend of teh article) and maintain your own template. In this case you can change the header section to your needs

  • How to remove Oracle from my server?

I was testing with Oracle Gateway and tried installing it in the same home as my existing Oracle Home which is Oracle 10g.
Now, my Oracle is corrupted. Its just a testing server. I was half way deleting the Oracle files and now I am unable to remove the remaining files. I stopped all the services related to Oracle and its still the same.
How should I remove Oracle from my server now.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks

If you are window platform restart the machine and remove the remaining files. In case if remaining file are not get delete rename and later drop after some time .
If you want to delete the oracle on window follow the below steps :
    start-->>all program-->> oracle -->> installation product -->>click on universal installer -->> de-install product -->>click on ora-home -->> click on remove button.
    Hope this help you

  • Linux how to remove oracle manually

can you teach and guide if any documentation article available "linux how to remove oracle manually" we are using oracle 10gr2 with rhel 5.x
    kindly advise suggest
    regards
    salim

Did you make the slightest effort to find the answer for yourself? Try googling that exact phrase:
site:oracle.com linux remove oracle manuallyand you will get the official techniques. Do a simpler search:
linux remove oracle manuallyand find lots of other places the steps are given:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/ManualOracleUninstall.phplooks to be a good choice.
Are you trying to recover from a failed install? Check the RDBMS installation guide for instructions for that.

  • Removing Oracle

I want to remove Oracle completely and install again. I am running RedHat Linux 7.2 and I am having trouble installing Oracle9i Database Enterprise Edition on it. Now when I try to install, it tells me that there is nothing installed, but it is. Does anyone know, how to completely remove Oracle and start over from scratch as if it was never there.

Ensure there are no oracle processes running.
    cd to $ORACLE_BASE.
    rm -rf *.
    Recreate the $ORACLE_HOME directory path.

  • Remove Oracle client path from windows 2008 64 bit

    Hi All,
I had to unstall the epm Hyperion product  after i found that installation need to done on a different language, which has oracle client for both 32 and 64 bit. But when i reinstall it is complaining about the oracle home path.
Below is the error i get from the log.
[FATAL] [INS-32053] The original name of the Oracle Home directory specified already exists.
CAUSE: The name of the Oracle home directory Home indicated on the command line corresponded to a name of origin existing Oracle Home directory in the central inventory.
ACTION: Choose another name for Oracle Home directory. Abandon this installation session and try again.
I have made sure that the filesystem is completely is removed after the unstallation except for these client files which i have removed manually.
Looks like the unnstalation doesn't happen correctly for the clients and old path is somewhere still exists. I have removed the client path from environment variable path list and tried again but no luck.
Can anyone help me to identify the places where i need to look to remove the earlier Oracle Home.
    Thanks

The registry, perhaps, or the inventory (which is in c:\program files\oracle or c:\program files (x86)\oracle - cannot recall right now).
However, if you search Oracle Support for "windows clean machine," you can find an article that shows you how to remove every trace of Oracle software from your Windows computer.

  • Removing Oracle 10g Databases

Hi, I'm currently running Oracle 10g with multiple databases in it. Two are old and useless to us.
I'm having trouble removing the two databases because I do not know the login/password.
Any easy way to remove them?

Well, you need to delete the following files.
    Key Files
    - Datafiles
    - Control Files
    - Redo log files
    Non-Key Files
    - Archive log (if exists)
    - Pfile (or spfile)
    - password file
    and
    - files from bdump
    - files from cdump
    - files from udump
Having said you must login to database to find out the correct key-files since you mentioned you are running multiple databases.
Try to create a new password file and login into the database before you try to to it the hard way.
    Thanks,
    Ankit.

  • Need to remove oracle 9i from win 2003 svr

    Hi Guys,
I have a rogue install of oracle 9i on a windows 2003 server box. It was installed as part of a package from a vendor. But during the setup the deal went south and the oracle install was never removed. I arrive on the scene much later and go to remove it. Universal installer (version 2.??) removes a few components (itself included) and then errors saying "this component was installed with installer 10.2.?? cant remove" I am currently downloading the first disk of the oracle9 db and hope that running the installer from that download will let me remove the rest..Is it going to work for me or will there be some issues with oracle being somewhat butchered as it stands. I need to remove the db any number of reasons. is there a guide on how to manually remove all traces of oracle from a server incase the installer fails?
    Regards Dave

Thanks Neil. But as we never really had the software setup I dont have a cal number or what ever they call it to login to metalink. if someone would get the note and email me a copy that would be above and beyond the call of duty...but it would sure be helping me out.???

  • How to remove Oracle Services from Win NT Services

I had oracle 8i(8.1.6) installed and then tried to upgrade to 9i (9.2) but it got messed up as database upgrade only works from 8.1.7 to 9 and not from 8.1.6. SO I uninstalled both 8i & 9i and want to install it again a fresh but before doing this I want to remove the oracle services in Win NT Services.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks
