Remove OS X from one computer to use on another

I have a MacBook pro with leopard on it installed from an upgrade disc and a G5 with no operating system on it. Is there a way to completely remove leopard from the MacBook pro for use on the G5?

hello there rockofan87 =^_^=
from what i know if you wanna remove 10.5 for the mbp you wanna do a manual back up of your files (music, movies, pics, docs) then use your 10.4 disk that came with it and do an erase and install. this will only work if the leopard disk you have is a RETAIL copy.

I've been using iTunes for some time and, having just about filled up my iBook's hard drive, I transferred my iTumes music to a big ole Windows computer that sits in my closet. It's on the same network and I can play its music on my iBook. Just fine. But the music on the Windows box can't be transferred onto the iPod (plugged into the iBook). The obvious solution of plugging the iPod into the Windows machine isn't convenient, since it's in the closet, and I don't want to go back there.
    Is there a simple solution?
    Thanks

  • How do i transfer my itunes music from one computer to itunes on another

Tell me how to in easy steps with an ipod
Tell me how to in easy steps with a pen drive

    Hi Chris
well, i copied everything from itunes onto my ipod. I made playlists on my itunes and had an option to sync playlists which was easily done.
When i take my ipod onto another computer, i dont know how to transfer the music. All my playlists appear from the administrators but i cant copy and paste them in the music library, and even the click transfer purchases does not work. ( all these songs in playlists are not purchased. My friend had a dvd of mp3 which i took from him - is that why it does not work ? )

ok i bought some movies on itunes but i was having some issues downloading them so i downloaded them on a friends computer but now that i have resolved my issues on this computer i can't find the movies that i had downloaded on my friends computer. how do i get them back on mine or do i just have to buy them and download all over again?

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on the link at the bottom of this page you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Loading iPod on One Computer and Using on Another

I've purchased an iPod as a gift and want to load it with music before giving it to the person. She's in the hospital and can't set it up herself. What does she need to do when she gets home to make her computer the home computer for the iPod instead of mine?
    Thanks!
    imac   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Plug it in and click Yes when it asks to link this
    pod to her library.
This will delete the music on the ipod and reload it
with her own music in her iTunes.
She doesn't have an iTunes library. I'm creating it for her on my computer with her music. Her husband has sent me all of her CDs since she's in the hospital for a month or more.
    Thanks!

  • Remove activation from one computer and activate another?

Can I remove an activation from one computer and activate another computer?

Hi, your license to NM has either a 3 or 8 computer limit depending on if you got Essentals or Pro.
If you are at your limit and want to take a computer off the license to make room for a new one, you should contact NM by phone.
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • Can't download song purchased from Itunes from one computer to another using same Apple ID

Hi, I am operating itunes 11 at home, using Mac OS 10.7.5.. I purchased a song at work (also a Mac, I am not sure which version of OSM or itunes). I accessed the purchase of the song in the "Purchased" menu option in itunes on my home Mac. When I tried to download the song at home so I can include it in my Library, I got the following message:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.
So: just to be clear:I can only buy something from  itunes from one computer and save to another with the  same Apple ID only every 90 days??? And if that is the case, I have not purchased anything from my work computer within 90 days of this recent song  purchase. That just does not make sense to me, since the license covers 10 devices anyway, and I am using the same Apple ID.
Let me know if I am not understanding this correctly, or am doing something wrong. It just does make not sense to me that I can't download a purchase I made from one computer to another since I am paying Apple for the music and just accessing it elsewhere, using the same account.
    Thanks so much.

Thanks for the response. Yes, my husband logged on to our computer and rented a movie for us to view. That is how we use Itunes: I purchase the music, he may purchase a movie or a rental now and then. This is new, it never happend before.
Also, I contacted customer support, both by phone and email. Not only does someone else using the home computer under a different account trigger this, but so does simply activating my own user id from a different computer (one of the 5 I am allowed to under the service agreement.)
Customer support was very helpful and lifted the 90 day ban. I called them because I purchased a season pass of a TV show and could not download the first episode because it was a "past purchase" (the episode was not even available to download when I purchased the pass, so “past” is indeed relevant.)
But I don't see the point of purchasing content from Apple now. This feature limits the accessibility of legal purchases under the service agreement.  Why allow 5 computers per Apple ID if activating one of them limits the ability to download content for 90 days??
I (used to) buy movies, rentals and TV shows all the time. I don’t have cable, so Apple was the source for all “must have” shows that I couldn’t wait for. Too bad.

  • Drive cloning from one computer to other.

    Hello,
I would like to know if i could clone a drive from one computer and use it in an other and not have problems with the licence.
I have i Asus Laptop that came with Win7 home premium pre-installed, and i am thinking of buying parts to build a desktop. If i clone the drive from the Asus Laptop to the HDD that i´m going to buy for the desktop and install it on the desktop will the licence
    work?
I ask this because OEM licences are normally attached to the computer in witch they are installed.
I plan to erase the laptop hdd afterwards to install Steam OS and use in home streaming form the desktop to the laptop.
    Would appreciate some help.

    Hi, lopestjoao.
I would be extremely cautious about wiping out the hard drive on your Asus laptop. Many times the factory OEM installation files are only stored on a separate partition on the hard drive. As well, these installer files include drivers for specific hardware
    that came with your Asus.
If I were you and wanted to try reusing the Windows OS on another machine, I'd first copy all the installation files to a portable drive or thumb drive and then try installing on a new computer. If the activation and updates go correctly, then perhaps
    you could wipe the Asus.
If the Asus OEM installer files are on a separate partition, you MIGHT be able to install Steam OS on the other (bigger) partition without destroying the OEM installer partition. On many machines, you can boot to the OEM partition
from the BIOS startup (before the OS loads) to reimage a machine.
NOTE: I have no idea if there are two partitions on your Asus hard drive. Did they give you an installer CD or is there another partition?
IDEA: Look up your laptop on the Asus site and learn the steps used to reimage your laptop back to factory installation. Make sure you have all the required pieces.
    Good luck!
    Best wishes, Davin Mickelson

  • Importing iWeb files from one computer to another

I have created a new website on my laptop and have my other sites on my desktop and want to transfer the site on my laptop to my desktop. I don't see where we can import files from one computer's files to another computer's files. Is there a way to do this?

    Mark:
You can copy the domain.sites2 file from the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on your laptop to the Desktop of your desktop Mac, rename it to something like "site name.sites2", and put it in the iWeb folder with your other domain.sites2 file.
If you want to merge the sites in the two domain files into one new domain file you can do so with iWebSites.

  • Hp 3510 is printing horizontally from one computer and normally from the other

My printer HP 3510 has been printing horizontally from one computer and normally on another.  Why does this happen and how can I correct the problem?

You try to print portrait, but it comes out landscape.  When you checked that setting, was it at the document level or at the default level?  The document setting overrides the default level setting.
If the document level setting is on Portrait and the document is coming out Landscape, I recommend downloading and running the  HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.  Does that help?

  • How do I remove a profile account from one computer without deleting the data?

Hi! I want to delete mozilla from one computer and remove my profile account so that all of my data on this computer is deleted. But I use the same profile in mozilla on another computer and I don`t know if my profile will keep the data stored on this computer after deleting it in the other one. Can you please clarify this issue for me. Thanks!
    Best,
    Vanya

If you want to delete your personal data on a computer reliably then you would have to perform a secure wipe to clear the data on the hard drive.
Otherwise Windows will only mark data as deleted.
Best is to disconnect from Sync before deleting data on a computer to avoid other computers from getting affected.
You can use the Profile Manager to remove a profile.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
