  • Where do i find os x server for mavericks?

    Hello Mac Technical Family,
Where do I find OS X Server for Mavericks?  I do recall purchasing it sometime ago through my App Store account, but I've had multiple projects since touching Server under OS 10.8.  Now the app store only makes Server for Yosemite available. I have a case created with Apple and they are researching but it may be 48 hours before anyone reads and responds.  I'm hoping someone out there can respond with a quicker reference to either the link of supply info regarding the best alternative to get the Server piece.
*I can't run Casper on the Server under 10.10.1 due to a couple of things that Casper doesn't like (so I'm in a catch 22 until JAMF creates a fix for 10.10.1).
Thanks for the direction and feedback!

Apple have unnecessarily removed the visible entries to re-download Server.app 2.x for Mountain Lion, and 3.x for Mavericks from peoples 'Previous Purchases' lists.
As per the link provided by keg55 you can - if you have previously purchased these versions re-download it despite this.
    I suspect Apple's thinking is that -
All Macs that can run Mountain Lion or Mavericks can run Yosemite
    Yosemite is a free upgrade
Therefore all users should upgrade to Yosemite and then get Server 4.x
Note: If you have previously purchased Server.app 1.x for Lion then this is still listed in Previous Purchased because not all Lion compatible machines can run Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite.

  • How can I completely remove OSX Server from my Mavericks installation?

I moved OSX Server and the Server file from the system Library but Server still controls my File sharing with my Sonos app.  It will not let my Sonos app access my music folder.

Perhaps there is a more correct way to uninstall server but just in case there isn't, if you remove this file and restart that should stop the server.

  • How to uninstall/remove OSX Server Demo?

    Hi all,
I installed the OSX Server Demo disc I received from Apple that has an expiry date June 30th, 2009. Long story short, it's not suitable for my needs. Now, how do I remove it without affecting anything existing. There doesn't seemed to be any option anywhere.

Back up your data and do an archive and install of the client software.
If it was me, I would back up the data, boot from the client disk and format the drive, or use my disk image I made of the machine prior to installing server.

  • How do i remove  osx server from my mac mini and just run mac osx lion

i don'r wish to run osx server just osx lion. how do i remove the server software?

One possibility is to obtain the DMG for OS X Lion, boot from it and reinstall the client version.
In my past experience, you'll keep the OS X Lion Server recovery partition, but you will most definitely be running OS X Lion without the server software deployed.
(I'm not sure if you can uninstall the Server software from a Mac Mini Server -- this appears to be integrated with the OS)

  • Overwrite osX server for osX

Have a need to set up previously formatted mf mac g4 in osX server as workstation but cannot overwrite osX server software. Tried in slave mode over firewire cable. How do i remove the osX server software and replace with normal mac osX ? Can anyone help. Thanks.

Move anything on the hard disk you want to keep to another drive, and then perform the first option which the Installer lets you do from those listed here.

  • About OSX Server and Mavericks

I bought on Okt 2 OSX Server 2.2.2 and was installed. Then on okt 24 I got OS Mavericks as a free download, but the server was not updated but thrown away from my computer. Wenn I want to download OSX Server 3.0 I have to pay again. Why?

It is a major paid upgrade from v2 to v3. Apple has no idea about the timing of your downloads and choices about what you want to buy.

  • OSX Server for Directory Services and an Exchange Server

I am about to purchase an Xserve. I only want to use this for authentication purposes (OpenLDAP, Kerberos, whatever).
We are getting rid of Windows Small Business server, but want to keep using Exchange for our email (we will build a new server with Exchange, I am not going to try to keep Small Business).
My network is half OSX clients, half Windows XP clients.
    My question is this:
Is it possible to have all of my users in my Xserve and have Exchange get username/password information from an OSX server (our Xserver will be our primary controller)?
    Thanks,
    aaron
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Have you gotten anymore information regarding "MS Exchange Server"... A good portion of my office are on Macs, but they all use entourage, and I refuse.. and using webmail is a pain in the butt,
have you found anyway to send mail externally from the network?

  • Apache Directory on OSX Server for Windows PC's???

Is it possible to use Apache Directory Server as a service to provide Profiles, Home Shares, Individual Configurations, etc to Windows PC's as OSX Server does not support Windows Operating System after 10.7
    Any suggestions would be great!!
    Thanks

I have not setup a Samba4 system myself but I have found the following how-tos for you. I have used Ubuntu Server myself. The main difference between Ubuntu Server and client is that the Server does not have a GUI interface installed as standard. This is in this case a good idea as it reduces the processor and memory requirements. I would strongly advise going this route i.e. a CLI only interface.
First here is the official Samab4 setup instructions
    http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO
Now some user examples of Ubuntu Server setups

    http://www.darklab.co.uk/2013/01/15/creating-a-samba-4-active-directory-primary- domain-controller-on-ubuntu-12-04-1-server/
    http://paulcolfer.ie/os/linux/samba-4-domain-controller-on-ubuntu-server-12-04/
You can download a pre-built Ubuntu Server image for use with VirtualBox from here
    http://virtualboxes.org/images/ubuntu-server/
You will still need to configure it and install the Samba components but at least Ubuntu Server itself will be already installed for you.

  • OSX Server 2 / Mavericks / Time Machien Server

    Hi Guys!
I have a strange behavior on my OSX Server 2 which is configured as a Time Machine Server: All my 10.9 Macs were shown in the list as "incomplete" - But Backups runs fine, no errors and even "enter TM" is working as it should...so it is just a display problem?
Does anybody has the same behavior?
    Best!

It's over a year later, and this problem still exists.
I have three different Macs doing Time Machine backups to OSX server.
    - from 10.9 on a new retina MBP shows 'incomplete'
    - from 10.8 on a MacBook Air, correctly shows the date/time of the last backup
    - from 10.7 on a 1st-gen MBA, shown 'unknown'.
Every few days, Time Machine on the rMBP fails, reporting that the sparsebundle is in use. I have to reboot the server to get Time Machine to start working again. I've spent hours on the phone with two different Apple techs, and neither could figure out why.  One suggested starting backups from the rMBP again, directing them to a new destination on a new hard drive. I tried that - the failure happened again in a few days.  The second suggested reinstalling OSX on the rMBP. I've not tried that.

  • Can I set up a Mac Pro as a server using OSX Server for my current Windows-based office?

I have a small business, and our office currently has a Windows-based network.  I love my Mac and it's ease of use, and for now I have to use Remote Desktop to log on to my server, and then run my MRP/ERP business software from that.  Is there an Apple solution (Mac Pro?) for my server, where other users could run parallels to access the MRP/ERP software?  Thanks!

It is possible - even quite easy - to turn almost any current or recent model of Mac into a server by installing OS X Server. It is less clear, however, that this will do what you want.
What are the hardware and software requirements of your MRP/ERP software? If it will only run under Windows or any OS other than Mac OS X, then it will not work, and installing OS X Server will not change that.
You may be able to get the MRP/ERP software to run under Windows run on a Mac using Parallels or VMWare Fusion, but it would still be running under the Windows OS, just virtualized so that it runs inside the Mac OS. Thus it will not be any easier to use than your current system, and in fact may be harder, and might not work at all.
You could also run Windows under BootCamp, but again, while the Windows OS would be running natively, you lose any ease of use of the Mac OS.
    Best of luck.

  • Remove osx server app 2.2.2

I installed sever app 2.2.2 and then upgraded to mavericks.  2.2.2 is not compatible with mavericks and now does not load.  I want to delete the server app

Quit it and drag to the Trash. If you want to continue using the machine as a server, upgrade to the current version in the App Store.

  • Do all Macs need OS X Server for Maverick to be able to communicate remotely?

Do all Macs require OS X Server to be loaded to comminucate and share files remotely?

No.  Server.app only needs to be installed and configured on the device(s) that you want to act as the server(s).  While you can install Server.app on workstations, the reason is to allow you to remotely administer the server.  Your client systems simply interact with the services enabled on the server.

  • Optimum setup for OSX server for small LAN?

Our new XServe takes a while to save files, etc. across the network. I don't know enough to configure everything properly, but I'm able to do enough to get it going. Is there an optimum network configuration for a small office who really only needs a file server? Should the two ethernet ports from the server be going directly into the switch? What's the best configuration for 5 computers, an xserve, a dsl modem, and a switch? Thanks!

to give you some idea, I have a test intel xserve 10.5.2 server connected to a 10-100 switch read-write is almost instantaneous depending on file size
(when OD has not crashed). no other services running other than AFP, DHCP, DNS, OD master. Another live tiger server with over 70 users,AFP, DHCP, DNS, OD, Mail. on average file read write access is few seconds dependent on file size over the wired lan. no complaints either on wireless.
with only 5 users I would expect fast file access this would really be dependent on the file sizes and what other services your server is providing
connecting all ports to the switch, you will only be able to use link aggregation if your switch supports it. you could also use the second port to monitor the xserve
