Remove passcode lock on broken ipod

Hi, I'm hoping for some help. My daughter threw my ipod touch into the toilet. I dried it out and now after 2 days itunes and my computer recognise it again. However, I cannot switch it on - the screen just stays blank.
I was hoping to at least make sure all the data is backed up on the computer. Itunes tells me that the ipod requires backup files to be encrypted and asks for me to set a password. When I do this it tells me though that I need to enter my passcode first on the ipod. As I can't start the ipod I can't do that so I am stuck.
Is there any way of removing the passcode lock without being able to switch the ipod on? I tried resetting and nothing happens.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Then you can't backup the iPod. A data recovery cmpany MAY be able to help.

How do I remove passcode lock if password is forgotten? Tried to restore but computer says not able to restore.

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Remove passcode lock from iPhone

I recently upgraded to a 5s. Set up passcode lock, but now find it is very inconvenient since I take a lot of pictures of my grandchildren. Please tell me how to take this passcode lock off of my new phone. Thank you in advance.

That's what the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the 5s is for! Why aren't you using it??  It's a bad, bad idea to disable the passcode lock
Settings > Touch ID and passcode > enter passcode > Disable Passcode

  • My daughter has put a passcode lock on her ipod and she doesnt remember it. How can I fix it?

please help me fix my daughters ipod. she has put a passcode on and cant remember it.

The only way to do that is to restore the iPod. Check the user guide, page 158 (or so).
If you forgot its password the device has to be restored. Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter.  Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the device in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".

  • I have an iPod touch 2G and I can't set up a passcode lock. I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode.

I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode. Now this iPod touch is a gift from my family, used before me. I set up my iTunes account, but when i view my Apple account it's not showing up. Is this the reason my iPod isnt working? Please help.

    The users guide says:
    Passcode Lock
By default, iPod touch doesn’t require you to enter a passcode to unlock it.
Set a passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock and enter a 4-digit passcode, then enter the passcode again to verify it. iPod touch then requires you to enter the passcode to unlock it or to display the passcode lock settings.
Turn passcode lock off: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Turn Passcode Off, then enter your passcode again.
Change the passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Change Passcode. Enter your passcode again, then enter and reenter your new passcode.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How do I restore my ipod to factory settings, but I have a passcode lock, and my screen is broken so I can't type in my password when I connect to itunes?

Okay so I have had my ipod 4th gen for almost 2 years buy the screen has fallen out of the back casing, (I bought it as refurbished) and I am trying to reset it to factory settings, so when I get a new one I can register my device on apps/games since some apps require that you can only register on one device, but I think the thing that connects to the screen is ripped so the screen won't turn on and I can't physically touch it. What I want to know is how can I restore it with me not being able to type in the password lock since the screen is broken?
or is there a way to disable the passcode lock through the computer?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen w/iOS 7.0.2 - Delayed 'Passcode' Lock Entry Issue

    Hi,
This evening I've updated my iPod Touch 5th Gen from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7.0.2 via the 'Over the Air' method, which went well initialy.
Following using the device, upgrading all of the apps and performing a couple of backups to iCloud, I have noticed that there is an issue with entering of the 'Passcode Lock' code to unlock the device.  There is a 25 to 30 second delay in me pressing a digit key on the 'Unlock' screen and the screen registering that I've entered a key.  Has anyone else experienced this?
I assume that this is an issue brought about due to the security fix that has been implemented within the iOS 7.0.2 update.  I am about to submit a Bug Report to Apple regarding this.
At present, I have upgrading both of my iPhone 4S and the iPad 3rd Gen devices to iOS 7.0 and they experience no issues at all - working fine.  I guess I will hold off upgrading these two devices at the moment.

I've been playing with the iPod, namely attempting to type text - all applications are affected.  I hadn't been typing text when I was playing with it.  I think the keyboard libraries have been corrupted.
I have updated tge Bug Report and will plan to wipe and restore device using iTunes 11.1.  If this is successfull, will use the same approach for the other devices.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
