Remove password in pdf

I just downloaded Adobe and 'Forms Central' for the purpose of removing an existing password in a pdf file. The prg won't import it because it is password protected. What should I do differenly?
Thanks in adance for replies!

Hi DEB,
Are you opening the PDF in Acrobat? Then, you may be able to remove the security. On that Security tab in the document properties, are you able to change the security settings? The person who created the file may have applied both a document open password, and a document permissions password (which prevents actions being taken on the PDF). If you have the passwords you need, and you have Acrobat, you should be able to turn off the security and save the file.
Best,
Sara

  • Remove password from PDF with Reader 9.0?

    Hi,
We would like to know if a user opens a protected PDF (with 128/256 bits encryption) in Acrobat Reader 9.0,
can the user save a copy of the protected PDF and the new PDF is no longer password protected.
That means I would like to check if the reader 9.0 can allow user to remove the password (Of course, permission
should be granted when creating the protected PDF in Acrobat 9.0) from the protected PDF file.
Thanks for your attention in advance,
    Raymond

Reader cannot remove password protection. It only reads files.

  • Removing password on PDF

Does Mac OS X offer anything for removing the password from a password protected PDF? I purchased an ebook PDF that is password protected. I have the password but don't want to type it in each time I open the PDF.

There might not be a free solution for you at this time, I'm afraid.
What would be nice is for Apple's Preview app to be able to retrieve PDF passwords from your keychain. You would then need to enter the password only once, and from that point on it would just grab it from your keychain. But unfortunately that is not a feature that is currently supported by Preview. You might wish to send Apple a feature request and see if they build that functionality into a future Mac OS X release.

  • Reader plug-in, save copy of password protected pdf without password

    Hello,
We currently have an Acrobat Reader plugin (using the 8.1 SDK) and are having trouble with password protected PDFs.
The sole purpose of our plug-in is to pass a copy of the currently open PDF to a different folder on the user's computer. The problem we are facing is with the password protected PDFs. We would like to pass a copy of the PDF that doesn't have the readonly password protection.
    Scenario:
    1. The user opens a password protected PDF in Adobe Reader.
    2. They are prompted for the password, they enter it and can see the PDF. 3. Now they click our custom button.
    4. Save a copy of the currently open PDF without password protection
Since we already know they have entered the correct password, in theory we should be able to either save all of the content to a new file, or simply remove the password protection.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so that I will be able to get a PDF without the password?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi again,
I was doing some research in the API reference and examples and I think that for my business problem, it will be sufficient if I can get the read access password. I found that I am able to use the following:
    AVCryptGetPassword(pdDoc, permsWanted, (void **)&password)
This prompts the user to enter the password and puts the actual password in the &password variable, which will will work for us. Ideally though, I would like to not have to prompt the user again for the password since they already entered when opening the pdf, is it possible to get access to the plain text of the password that they typed when opening the pdf or another way?
    I tried:
    StdSecurityDataRec* secData;
    secData = (StdSecurityDataRec*)PDDocGetNewSecurityData (pdDoc);
    if (secData) {
    if (secData->hasUserPW)
    char* mypw = secData->userPW;
However, the password is encrypted. Thanks for your help!
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • Unable to open password protected PDF in safari

Dear all, I'm new in using iPhone safari. I have problem in opening password protected PDF file from safari. Do you have any solution or workaround to resolve this problem
    Regards
    BR

You can put pretty much any character into the encryption password for a PDF file apart from control codes (carriage returns, backspaces, etc), but whether the vendor's website can is another matter!
As you seem to have a PDF with a user password that isn't what you expected, there's nothing you can do to remove it other than perhaps trying a version without the quote characters, or with a backslash in front of the quote (it's possible they escaped the string on the login form in preparation for storing it in a database, and forgot to unescape it again).

  • Open password protected PDF in website

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me. Greatly appreciate it.
My website has PDF documents that's available for registered users to view online (through my site) only.
Currently, I can't find any solutions to prevent users from downloading/"save-as" the PDF doc in their local drives, so I'm thinking of password-protecting these PDFs. This will ensure that they'd not be able to view the PDFs even though they download it and save-as local.
However, how do I open these password-protected PDFs on my site?
When I point/redirect to these PDFs, it will prompt for password.
It'd defeat all protection intent if I were to give the password to the user to enter, right?
    Example:
    1. Response.Redirect("mySecuredPdf.pdf")
    2. The browser will then prompt user for password.
What can I do in the CodeBehind to enable the server to OPEN the pdf, and at the same time, pass the correct password to the viewer to open without prompting?
I cannot remove password, because I want to prevent users from downloading and then opening it later, or redistributing the file.
    btw, i'm using ASP.NET.
    Please help.

There's a similar thread in the Acrobat Windows section, and the answer is the same - only a DRM system with a client UI (such as Adobe Digital Editions) can restrict the *use* of a file. You cannot prevent the client downloading and saving it, as otherwise they can't see it on their screen. The page you're reading now is not on a computer at Adobe - it's on yours.
    > What can I do in the CodeBehind to enable the server to OPEN the pdf, and at the same time, pass the correct password to the viewer to open without prompting?
I think you're getting the flow a little backwards - the PDF is 'opened' by the client, using their copy of Adobe Reader (or whatever). The webserver has nothing to do with the process other than blindly sending the file's 1s and 0s down a wire, so can't do anything to directly control the client's desktop applications.

  • Remove password security on acrobat 11

    hello!
when i try to remove password security from my pdf file , i get this message
    anyone knows why?
it doesn't happen on acrobat 9

    Hi shay_df,
Yes, the file is Reader enabled, and yes you have to create an unsigned copy of the file before you can remove the Password Security.
    Open 1244.pdf
Type in the Document Open password (111111) and then click the OK button
Select the File > Save a Copy menu item
Click the Save a Copy button on the conformation dialog
Enter 1244_noUR.pdf as the File Name on the Save a Copy dialog, and then click the Save button
Type in the Document Open password (111111) and then click the OK button
Select the File > Open menu item
Navigate to, and then select the local copy of 1244_noUR.pdf, and then click the Open button
Type in the Document Open password (111111) and then click the OK button
Select the File > Properties (or File > Document Properties in an older version of Acrobat) menu item
Select the Security tab on the Document Properties dialog
Select No Security from the Security Method drop-down list
Click the OK button on the conformation dialog
Select the File > Save menu item

  • Unlocking password protected PDF

I have Adobe Reader on my Android tablet and am unable to unlock a protected PDF document. It allows me to enter my user name and password as well as selecting the checkbox for "Remember my user name and password"
The issue I have is that it does NOT allow me to unlock the document.
The document is an eBook Collection textbook.
Please advise how to resolve this issue.
If Adobe Reader is unable to do this, is there another app for Android that would allow this?
I have no issues unlocking the same document on using Adobe Reader on my desktop (Windows 8).
    Thank you

    Hi Bernd
I simply unlocked the password protected pdf (which had been created in acrobat 6) by using the drop down menu from "Secure" and choosing "Remove Security", I was then asked was I sure I wanted to remove security, answered yes and bingo it had no security!
My repro department were astounded I could do this with a trial program. My MD is alarmed and if some of our customers were aware they would be having kittens. (We do a lot of legal documents which have to be locked).
If you send me a password protected pdf I will see if I can return it unlocked (this works with V6 created pdf's and guess it would work with others?)

  • Password secured PDF forms

Can password secured PDF forms be filled out on mobile devices?
I've tried it on my iPhone and it doesn't appear that I can fill out the form. Wondering if it's just me or if other people are also not able to fill out secured PDF forms on mobile devices.

You can remove the security using Acrobat (not Reader) then use ExportPDF.

  • Password-protected PDFs making mail blank view of messages?

Surreal problem that seems to have started about the same time as my 10.8.4 update (from 10.8.3):
Viewing the standard Mail view, with mailboxes on the left, message list for the selected mailbox in the middle, and message text in the largest pane on the right of the window; when moving through the list of messages, moving down and seeing the message texts to the right, all of a sudden, the preview pane to the right go BLANK.  And I've narrowed it down to several suspect messages that came from a regular group of business contacts who send me reports as password-protected PDFs.  I prepared a test PDF with Preview, encrypted, and used that to test the proposition that password-protected PDFs are what is 'breaking' the view of message contents in the right hand window, and it is clearly the problem.
After I view a message with the gray password-protected preview image showing in the preview pane, switching to another message in the message list, that next message shows a normal header but the text/body of the message shows blank.  And then the next messages keep showing blank until I either:  hide and unhide the main mail window OR quit and reopen mail.  But double-clicking on any message in the list to open it properly in its own window shows it normally.
Rebuilding my mailboxes did not help.  Rebooting did not help.
Any ideas about what the heck might be going on?

I've had the same problem on 3 computers since updating them to 10.8.4
I don't think many will find this thread as most will search for threads relating to 10.8.4
It only happens to my mail after viewing a message that contains a password protected pdf.  If I don't open emails that contain the pdfs mail works perfectly, but once I've clicked on a message that contains a pdf every email turns blank.  Mac mail & POP accounts.  I can double-click the email to have it viewable in a new window but still can't open the pdfs. I get password protected pdfs regularly for work.
    They're standard drives, no partitioning.
I've tried the "sandbox" suggestion with no joy.  & I've also tried removing junk filtering which is a suggestion on another thread.
    I don't think I'm up to re-installing 10.8.3 so I've been using a browser for emails.

  • How to break password from PDF using acrobat library?

I am using "Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc" object and on open method call it is returning false for a password protected file. How can I check the pdf file is password protected by passing the pathname as an argunment? and once identified as a password protected PDF, How can I remove the password using the Acrobat Class?

If it fails to open, then it’s probably password protected.
There are no APIs to remove the password, assuming you have it.
Removing it w/o the actual password would be illegal.

  • InDesign Data Merge using password protected PDFs?

I am trying to print postcards with Data Merge and I've run into a problem. The source files for one of the images are password protected PDFs. They all use the same password, and I do know the password, but InDesign wants me to enter the password every time it processes a record.
If I'm printing 10,000 postcards, I would have to enter the password 10,000 times to make my merged file!
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to enter the password once and, maybe hold down [command + option + control + kitchensink] or whatever, while clicking "OK" to apply that password to all future password dialog boxes? Is there a script I can run that could automatically enter the password?
The original source PDFs need to keep the password protection, so removing the security en masse isn't an option. Making non-secure copies of all the possible PDFs that could be used seems really unwieldy and would take up a lot of network storage resources, so I really hope there is a more elegant solution out there.
I'm using CS5 on a Mac and I would LOVE it if anyone has any suggestions at all on how to fix this. Thanks!
    -Cole Hartson

Your path needs to use a colon instead of a forward slash. Also you might need to add the name of your hard drive before Users.
The easiest way to get the correct path is to manually place one of the images, then go to the links panel, right-click on the image name and select Copy Info > Copy Platform Style Path.
