Remove Personal Domain from MMe

I have added a Personal Domain to a MMe account. However, the domain transfer process is going to take a few more days, because of the grace period built into the process. As soon as I added the personal domain name in MMe (I have not clicked the "Done" button.) all of the page icons in iWeb turned red, indicating they needed to be republished. I have not republished. I can still get to my site using the web.me.com/username address, of course. I have made a a number of changes that I would like to publish.
Do I need to wait until the domain transfer process has been completed? I have not done anything to point the domain name to the MMe site at either the previous or future registrar.
Can I remove the Personal Domain from MMe until the domain process has been completed, and manage the site as before? If so, how do I do this?
If I go ahead and republish with the domain name in the MMe account (before the transfer process has been completed, and with the personal domain still associated with the account) can I still access it using the web.me.com/username address?
Thanks...

Log into your MME account and go to the Personal Domain option. It has remove on the right side and just click on that to remove it.
Whether your domain name is linked to your site or not, you can always get to your site by using the url web.me.com/username/sitename.
If you are using iWeb, then your site will always only ever be published to your iDisk and MME and not your domain - it is only an illusion because your domain name is forwarded to your MME account.

  • Remove Personal Domain Problem

Hi. I had a personal domain setup and it was working fine. I recently removed the domain from my .Mac account. iWeb still thinks it is publishing to the domain, and shows the little green indicator light at the bottom with my domain. After it publishes, the Visit Site button tries to load up with my domain and not with the .mac address.
How can I get it to revert to the .mac address mode?

I'm pretty good on computers but my dad asked him to help him with a Mac problem so here I am...
Our good friend has built our website from his computer at his house, me and my dad need to be able to edit the website using iWeb (the same program our friend uses) so we can make appropriate changes...
We can log into the .Mac the same one that our friend uses but we can't figure out how to actually "load" the work our friend has already done so we can add to it and edit it...
    Any advice is appreciated

  • Delete personal domain from iWeb

now that .mac moved to .me when ever i post a site it publishes to the personal domain that is listed in my profile but i don't want it published there but rather to the automatic url that mac provides (i.e. http://web.mac.com/username/Site...)
how do i removed a personal domain from my profile?
i found no preferences within iweb to do this, nor was i able to do it when i log into my mobile me settings (there i see the personal domain but no way to remove it)
    thanks!

Do you have a domain name that you have set up with iWeb and MobileMe? If you linked that name to just the default MobileMe URL, http://web.mac.com/username/, then any new site that is published will become the default that the domain name sends you to. You need to point the domain name to the specific site, http://web.mac.com/username/yoursite_foldername/index.html, in order to isolate the other sites from your domain name.

Use setup assistant which is offered when you setup your new Mac.  It will transfer information from a Time Machine backup, Clone or another Mac.
It's best to do this during setup to avoid issues with duplicate IDs.

  • How do I remove personal PC from old business domain to join Windows 7 home network?

I brought my own laptop PC into a business I joined, and they registered the laptop to their domain and upgraded my Windows 7 Home to Ultimate. It was a temp assignment, now I've left the company fo another assignment, but will work from home. I've
upgraded my family PCs to Windows 7 to create a homegroup network, but I can't join this homegroup with my laptop PC, as I'm prevented from doing so while the laptop is apparently still on the domain.  How can I remove my laptop from this domain, since
    it doesn't apply any more?

    Hi,
First of all , I would like to advice you that you must need have an administrator’s permission account of this laptop. If so, You need to leave your laptop from the domain, then you need to change the Network Location to Home Network.
About how to leave your laptop form a domain, please kindly refer to the following steps:
Step 1. Click Start button, then point to Computer.
Step 2. Right-Click Computer, then click Properties.
Step 3. Under the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, click Change Settings.
Step 4. Then hit Change, change the Member of Option to Workgroup, hit OK.
Step 5. You will be prompted the administrator’s account, type it.
Step 6. Then restart your computer.
About how to join a Homegroup, Please kindly refer to the following steps:
Step 1. Make sure a HomeGroup has already been created. One computer on the network must create a HomeGroup, then all the other computers can join in.
Step 2. Make sure you know the HomeGroup password.
Step 3. Click the Start button.
Step 4. Click Control Panel from the Start Menu.
Step 4. In the search box type in homegroup -> now click HomeGroup.
Step 5. From the bottom right hand corner of the window click Join Now.
Step 6. Select the Libraries you would like to share over the network. Pictures, Music Videos and Printers are checked by default. You can add Documents by checking the box. Now click Next.
Step 7. Type in the HomeGroup password.
Step 8. Click Next and wait for the computer to join the HomeGroup.
Step 9. Click Finish and you’re done.

  • Removing Personal Domain Name

I changed the personal Domain Name in iWeb 08 and realized it was entered incorrectly. I've removed the name form the list and my pages and blog still show up at the wrong address. It's been 12 hours. Does anyone know how long it takes or if another step is needed?

If you have changed it on your .Mac account settings, try publishing and uploading again and see if that does it for you.
    Good luck!

  • I cannot publish my to personal domain from iWeb via the publish button.

Ive registered the domain at mobile me and entered the cname at the registrar and still nothing. when i publish and its done i go to visit now and the site comes up but when i hit a link from somewhere else like google, i get the old unupdated site.

Firstly, no you do not register a domain name at MobileMe. MobileMe does not register domain names, it just hosts them. So what you actually did was enter your domain name into your MobileMe account under the Personal domain name settings.
Have you checked for sure that you have set up CNAME forwarding correctly? Check that you have as you need to forward your domain name (alias) to web.me.com (host).
Sometimes CNAME forwarding can take a little time, so you might find that your updated site is there now. What you can do however is go back into iWeb and publish the site again, so click publish all to MobileMe and this might work having set up to connect with your domain name.
You could also go and check your iDisk to see if the most current site is in your iWeb sites folder.

  • Remove a domain from Exchange 2003, now other domains cannot send to the old domain error 5.1.1

We have a single Exchange 2003 server.  We have multiple mail domains on the server, but are slowly moving to a hosted email solution.  I moved the first domain, I will call it
domainABC, to our hosted solution.  I have removed all exchange mailboxes from the users, and deselected the domain from Recipient Policies.  I then ran the policy.
Whenever I send an email to anyone on Domain ABC from any other domain on the Exchange server, I get the 5.1.1 message.  I am not sure what to do next - any help would be appreciated...
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
Could you post the detail information for the NDR message?
When you migrate all the users to the host email server, did you change mx record point to the new server?
You also can use this tool to help you check for the inbound email test (for Domain ABC).

  • Changing personal domain from enom to .mac--what did I leave out?

Help! I have been reading all of the great advice posted, but am still not having success. I'm sure I probably left something out, but this is what I have done so far:
I am changing my domain name with enom to .mac and have made the following changes: I have changed the www to web.mac.com/mymembername/iweb/mysitename and chose url redirect. I also put web.mac.com for the cname alias, with mydomain.com (no www) in the address portion. Was I suppose to edit the dns server info by adding the numeric equivalent of my personal domain? Also, I have seen opposing opinions on whether or not to change the A address(s).
I have also confirmed that .mac recognizes my domain name. However, when I type in my address, it turns into the web.mac....but an Apple error page shows error code #424 trouble syncing...etc. What does that mean?
By the way, it has been 48 hours since my changes (above.) I would so appreciate some help. Thanks!

I had already tried that one and got this...
below is screen shot of what is on the new mac mini
and what is on the external drive now connected to the new mac mini..
There are no media files on the mac mini just the library files and on external just media files..
Do I need to copy anything over from the old mac mini ? xml files ? .. the itunes folder on old mini is about 840mb in size which looks to have artwork ect ? .. I am fairly computer literate, but this one has me stumped.. ?
    thanks for help

  • What is the best way to remove personal data from the hard drive in preparation for selling my old Mac?

I am going to sell or perhaps donate my old Power Mac G5.  Is there an easier, yet comprehensive way to remove my data from the hard-drive?  My best approach is dumping anything I do not want found into the trash.
I am running Mac OS 10.5.8 on the powermac G5

For better security than the simple Erase (which does not actually over-write the data blocks, only clears the directory), choose Security Options, and Zero all data, one pass.
After a Zero all data, the only way to recover the data is to dis-assemble the drive in a clean room and use expensive test gear to recover a little of the data. That is good for all but Military Secrets.
If you really trust no one under any circumstances, remove the drive and beat it to death with a hammer.

  • Removing personal accounts from a company-owned Mac...remotely

I handed in a company-owned Mac when I left the company a couple of weeks ago, and I tried to remove all of my personal Apple accounts from the machine before I handed it in, but I don't think that the iMessage account removal was successful.  How do I remove iMessage access to my #/account from a Mac that I no longer have access to?  And on top of that, how do I verify that none of my other personal Apple accounts are still associated with that machine?
I would be so grateful if someone could throw some insight or direction my way on this topic!  Many thanks in advance...

It's a bit late now. You should have done a secure erase on the machine before turning it in. You now have no access to the machine except to go back to your former employer and ask if you can do that having forgotten before.

  • How do you remove personal info from a dead AppleTV

I had my ATV die on me and was planning to replace the hard drive to fix it. Once I got into the machine, I hooked up the HD to my computer and it looked just fine so my conclusion was it is NOT the hard drive. I bought a new ATV and am wanting to sell the old one, but am concerned about the purchaser getting my iTunes account info off the hard drive.
Does anyone know how to remove that info without wiping out the HD? I know a HD without the ATV information reders the ATV pretty much useless. Would love any input. Thanks!

    Winston Churchill wrote:
You're planning on selling the broken tv ?
Perhaps he's selling it for 'spares', but in that case I think I'd reformat the hard drive - presumably if it doesn't start up he can't factory restore, but even that wouldn't necessarily pt off a determined person sniffing for info with appropriate software.

  • Personal Domain + web forwarding = big headache

I wrote an email to the tech people on my domain service provider, Network Solutions, because I've yet to see my website load properly.
I was directed to use web forwarding, and I set that up over the weekend. However, though I am hosted through MobileMe, my personal domain link takes me to a blank page. There had been an under construction page.
Here is my question: if I am using web forwarding, should I remove the personal domain from my Mobile Me preferences? Could that be the reason it won't work?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you mean by web forwarding? Is that CNAME or URL forwarding?
If it's the usual URL forwarding then you should not have any domain name setup in your MMe preferences. Ethmoid's post in this topic discusses how to remove it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8990293#8990293
Then you forward your domain name (at Network Solutions) to:
    http://web.me.com/MobileMeAccount_Name/SiteName/

  • IWeb hanging at logging into MobileMe (Personal Domain Problem)

I've searched and searched for an answer to my problem all over the internet and these forums and keep coming up blank.
Apologies if the answer is somewhere and I've missed it.
It could be a wider problem with my MobileMe, but iWeb is where it first occurred.
I recently had my personal website forwarding to my MobileMe site, and was using the MobileMe webspace to host my site. I had set my personal domain (in MobileMe) to the personal website. Why I did this I'm not sure, as I wasn't actually using the external webspace, merely forwarding it to my MobileMe site.
However I then decided I wanted to create a new site and this is where the problems began to occur. When I tried to publish the new site, it seemingly tried to publish to personaldomain/new_website name/ which obviously didn't exist as there was no external webspace there.
I then decided to reset everything, get rid of the personal domain setting within MobileMe and just merely forward my external web addresses to my Me sites. Upon deleting my Personal Domain from the mobileme settings page and logging into iWeb, the website name next to my username was still my external website address, and iWeb seemed to think it was all still published (which it was, as when I went to my web.me.com/etc, my website was there) However I wanted to start from scratch and republish everything, so I deleted all the web/sites section from my idisk, and hoped I could republish everything (this could have been a mistake!)
Now when I try to publish, iWeb just hangs at logging into MobileMe and won't publish anything. iPhoto also won't upload new photo albums and neither will aperture. They just hang at syncing galleries.
I'm completely at a loss as to how to proceed. I've deleted preferences from iweb and also logged out of mobileme, put a fake name in and logged back in again (to clear the cache I think) and still iweb hangs. I've even tried creating a new user account and logging in there and still it hangs.
Apologies for the essay of a post, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Just some suggestions as to where to go would be helpful. I'm wondering if it's something to do with Keychains? I had a brief look in there but it all went over my head. This is the first problem I've ever had with my new mac, and being from a PC background, don't really know where to look to fix things.
Thanks in advance to people who even get through reading the entire post!

If stephen's suggestion doesn't help you might consider the following:

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Although for a different MMe issue it will clear out the MMe login info so you can enter everything anew and give it a fresh start.

  • Can I make the personal domain go away?!

Problem: I played with the personal domain thing in the 2.0 phase of iWeb, and decided to wait until the update fixed things. I USED to have my GoDaddy URLS point to each of my various iWeb sites, which they still do. However, when I publish now, iWeb loads to that personal domain, and I can't make it stop. I never changed the CNAME or anything on my GoDaddy site, just went on .Mac to add a personal domain to the list.
Can I make iWeb STOP trying to load to that personal domain? I deleted it from the .Mac page, but iWeb still shows it at the bottom of the pane as a green dot followed by my email (domain). Now EVERY site loads to that domain, followed by /sitename.
    Old domain: www.swatphysician.com pointed to
    Old iWeb site: http://web.mac.com/macdaddymd/iWeb/swatphysician
    New iWeb is www.swatphysician.com/swatphysician
I tried republishing the entire thing to .Mac after I deleted that personal domain from .Mac, but it did the same. What I want to do is go back to the old way... use my GoDaddy redirect to point to the various sites by their own personal domain names (www.76whs.com, www.76lancers.com, etc.).
Can I make iWeb forget it ever heard of my personal domain?!

I explored the possibility of setting up the personal domain feature, but was unable to get the support needed from my host to ensure that it would function properly. I'm considering simply using web forwarding to send people where they need to go. I added and removed the personal domain information from within my .Mac account and it had nothing to do with iWeb. Maybe I'm clueless on this, but that was my experience.
Anyone who has previously been pointing to their .Mac iWeb site will discover that all the addresses will change after upgrading to iWeb 2.0.1 version. At least, that was my experience. Blog entries have a completely new method for naming pages (old pages are given new URLs based on the new naming system). The entire site was under an iWeb folder (as you pointed out in your message). The new sites are located directly under your .Mac account name.
