Remove photos from a MobileMe Gallery

Every time I delete or Cut a photo from one of my MobileMe Gallery albums, it comes back, and/or, it does not update the changes in my MobileMe Gallery. In one of my galleries in iPhoto I have 7 photos but in the MobileMe gallery I have 134 photos. Do I have to delete the whole gallery album and create a new one?

Could be a damaged library. Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Is it possible....to save photos from the MobileMe Gallery?

I lost my hard-drive several months back & many photos. However, there are some photos in my MobileMe gallery that were not able to be saved from my old hard-drive... Is there an easy way to pull these photos from the MobileMe Gallery onto my 'new' hard-drive?  I have already changed to iCloud (if that makes a difference).  Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. There's a new photo sharing site, ZangZing, that can import photos from MobileMe Galleries into albums.  The site allows 2 GB space free like Dropbox.
Just enter the URL for the gallery and import.  You'll get something like this for each gallery:
You can mount your iDisk and go to the iDisk/Web/Sites/_galleries folder on your Desktop and drag each numbered subfolder onto your Desktop.  All of you photos will be in those subfolders within other subfolders.  Each photo will have 3 versions.  If you setup the gallery so visitors could download the photos each photo subfolder will have the full sized image file in it. There will be 3 versions, medium, web and large.  The large.jpg will the the file you will want to keep.  However, you will have to rename each large.jpg file to match the actual file name.

  • 'Empty' photo frames for MobileMe Gallery albums

I upgraded from iPhoto '08 to iPhoto '09 last month. I have nine MobileMe Gallery albums. Eight of these albums were created and uploaded using iPhoto '08 and only one with iPhoto '09. I have just noticed a problem which, I believe, has only happened since my upgrade and it's a strange one.
While scrolling through the Photos in my iPhoto 09 Library I noticed that for those photos that appeared in an album uploaded to MobileMe Gallery using iPhoto 08 I have the photo and immediately next to (after) it a white dotted outline of a blank/black space with the Title of the previous photo under it. If I select this 'blank' photo and drag it to the Trash it removes the photo from my MobileMe Gallery album!
This applies to every photo uploaded to all 8 MobileMe Gallery albums with iPhoto 08. The behaviour is not repeated in the images uploaded to the one album I have uploaded to the MobileMe Gallery using iPhoto 09.
Before I realised the significance of these 'blank' photos I selected them as I was scrolling through my Library in Photo view and moved them to the iPhoto Trash! Then I discovered that doing so removed them from both the album on my MobileMe Gallery and the MobileMe Gallery album that I see in the left hand column of iPhoto.
Has anyone else encountered this behaviour - is it normal? Can I simply go to the Trash and drag these 'blank' images back, then sync and hope that they return to the MobileMe Gallery albums?
WIll I have to live with these 'blanks' in my Photos view forever?
Here are two screenshots to show what I'm talking about - the first one is how the deleted images appear in the Trash and the second is an example of how each image now appears in the iPhoto library Photo view.

I would be grateful if anyone can suggest how I might be able to fix this problem.
    Cheers

  • How to remove photos from photostream?

I'm not loving iCloud.  I LOVED mobileme and my gallery in there, among other features.  How do you remove photos from photostream?  So frustrating.  iCloud was supposed to be easier, effortless and this is not the case. Some pictures show in photostream on my iphone and others show in iphoto.  I don't get it.  Anyone know the answer to this mystery of how to make them sync?

You can't delete individual photos, you can reset photostream from iCoud.com and turn off syncing for photostream on each device, but that will remove all photos from photostream.
Photostream syncing requires wifi, make sure you have a wifi connection for photo stream to update correctly.

  • Photo names in MobileMe Gallery?

Is there a way to make Aperture use the photo's caption field as the title for the photo in the mobileme gallery?
There's the checkbox to tell it to use the version name or not which doesn't seem very useful to me.
Should I just copy and paste from caption to version name?

    My mistake
I had forgotten that it's just what Aperture does for some
    unreasonable reason !
    It puts 20 if there's space ? !

  • Most efficient way to delete "removed" photos from hard disk?

Hello everyone! Glad to have this great community to come to for help. I searched for this question but came up with no hits. If it's already been discussed, I apologize and would love to be directed to the link.
My wife and I have been using LR for a long time. We're currently on version 4. Unfortunately, she's not as tech-savvy or meticulous as I am, and she has been unknowingly "Removing" photos from the LR catalogues when she really meant to delete them from the hard disk. That means we have hundreds of unwanted raw photo files floating around in our computer and no way to pick them out from the ones we want! As a very organized and space-conscious person, I can't stand the thought. So my question is, what is the most efficient way to permanently delete these unwanted photos from the hard disk
I did fine one suggestion that said to synchronize the parent folder with their respective catalogues, select all the photos in "Previous Import," and delete those, since they will be all of the photos that were previously removed from the catalogue.
This is a great suggestion, but it probably wouldn't work for all of my catalogues since my file structure is organized by date (the default setting for LR). So, two catalogues will share the same "parent folder" in the sense that they both have photos from May 2013, but if I synchronize May 2013 with one, then it will get all the duds PLUS the photos that belong in the other catalogue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there's probably not an easy fix, and I'm willing to put in some time. I just want to know if there is a solution and make sure I'm working as efficiently as possible.
    Thank you!
    Kenneth

I have to agree with the comment about multiple catalogs referring to images that are mixed in together... and the added difficulty that may have brought here.
My suggestions (assuming you are prepared to combine the current catalogs into one)
in each catalog, put a distinctive keyword onto all the images so that you can later discriminate these images as to which particular catalog they were formerly in (just in case this is useful information later)
as John suggests, use File / "Import from Catalog" to bring all LR images together into one catalog.
then in order to separate out the image files that ARE imported to LR, from those which either never were / have been removed, I would duplicate just the imported ones, to an entirely separate and dedicated disk location. This may require the temporary use of an external drive, with enough space for everything.
to do this, highlight all the images in the whole catalog, then use File / "Export as Catalog" selecting the option "include negatives". Provide a filename and location for the catalog inside your chosen new saving location. All the image files that are imported to the catalog will be selectively copied into this same location alongside the new catalog. The same relative arrangement of subfolders will be created there, for them all to live inside, as is seen currently. But image files that do not feature in LR currently, will be left behind by this operation.
your new catalog is now functional, referring to the copied image files. Making sure you have a full backup first, you can start deleting image files from the original location, that you believe to be unwanted. You can do this safe in the knowledge that anything LR is actively relying on, has already been duplicated elsewhere. So you can be quite aggressive at this, only watching out for image files that are required for other purposes (than as master data for Lightroom) - e.g., the exported JPG files you may have made.
IMO it is a good idea to practice a full separation of image files used in your LR image library, from all other image files. This separation means you know where it is safe to manage images freely using the OS, vs where (what I think of as the LR-managed storage area) you need to bear LR's requirements constantly in mind. Better for discrete backup, too.
In due course, as required, the copied image files plus catalog can be moved bodily to another drive (for example, if they have been temporarily put on an external drive, and you want to store them on your main internal one again). This then just requires a single re-browsing of their parent folder's location, in order to correct LR's records inside this catalog, as to the image files' changed addresses.
If you don't want to combine the catalogs into one, a similar set of operations as above, can be carried out for each separate catalog you have now. This will create a separate folder structure in each case, containing just those duplicated image files. Once this has been done for all catalogs, you can start to clean up the present image files location. IMO this is very much the laborious and inflexible option, so far as future management of the total body of images is concerned... though there may still be some overriding reason for working that way.

  • How to remove photos from the photo library

How can I remove photos from the photo library?
I searched and tried the below method.
I connected to the PC and open iTunes. I clicked "photos" on the top. Then clicked the box "Sync Photos with" and choose the dropdown and "choose folder"
Then I clicked "desktop" option and chose an empty file and click "apply", "sync".
However, it doesn't work. Nothing has been removed.
I saw there is another method - deselecting the checkbox of the photo files. However, in my iTunes, there is no files has been selected.
How can I delete photos from the photo library? Thank you.

How did the photos get onto your device (and is it an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch ?) ? Only photos that were synced from a computer can be deleted via iTunes, photos that were taken with it or saved from emails/websites on the iPad (or if it's an iPad copied to it via the camera connection kit) can be deleted directly in the Photos app, or you might be able to delete the via the import process : Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC.

  • Can't edit photos in my MobileMe gallery in iPhoto '11

    Hi,
I have all my photos in my MobileMe gallery. Everything sync very well with iPhoto '11. But I'm surprised by the fact that I can't edit those photos. It keeps saying that the element I selected can't be modified in iPhoto '11.
Is this because I don't have a local copy of the pictures on my HD ? And if this is the reason, how can I do so I can edit those pictures ?
    Thanks !

Then you won't have them in your iPhoto library. Only links to them.
Do you have the option to subscribe to the galleries and/or download the files into your library. Those option are in the gallery's menu bar:
If the download option is available you can get copies of the photos and import them into your library so you can edit them.
For those photo you want to edit try dragging its thumbnail in iPhoto to the Desktop. Then import the resulting image file back into iPhoto. That should give you a full size copy of it to work with.
If you can't drag the thumbnail then try subscribing to the gallery, open the subscription window in iPhoto and try dragging the thumbnail there to the desktop. That worked for me.
UPDATE: If you subscribe to a gallery and then delete the subscription you will be given the chance to download and import those photos into your library as the subscription is deleted.
This way you can get a copy of each photo in each gallery into your library.

  • Trouble removing photos from iPad

I'm having trouble removing photos from my iPad2 running iOS 5.0.1. In iTunes I've told it not to sync ANY photos. When I first changed this it asked me if I wanted to remove the photos currently there, I said yes and they disappeared. But when it finished syncing they had reappeared despite the fact that it now claims I don't have it set to sync any photos. I don't have photostream enabled. I've tried syncing a couple of times, but no luck. Any ideas? (I searched the forums but everything I found was people who didn't understand how to use iTunes to manage iPad content...that's not my problem..) (also it is like 3 gigs of pics so I don't really want to delete them all by hand since there isn't a way to batch delete...)

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then select and sync an empty folder to the iPad and see if that removes them - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • Can't remove photos from album? Photos are stored in their current location, iphoto

Can't remove photos from  Aperture album unless I send them to Trash? Photos are stored in their current location, iphoto

There are only a few images that I want to delete, not entire albums. I want to avoid syncing the iPad with the new computer, but it's looking like that may be my only option...to delete all of the iTunes synced photos then start from scratch since I still have the original images on my backup drive. Maybe send them to myself in email/through dropbox and save that way so in the future I can delete at will.
I just want to avoid all of that, save myself some time, so I figured I'd do as much asking as possible first.

  • I can't remove photos from albums in iPhoto 9.4?  Any advice or tricks?

I can"t seem to be able to remove photos from albums in iphoto 9.4.  Can not move to trash or remove from album, What's up?  Any tricks or advice?

Make sure those are not smart albums you're trying to remove photos from.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
